The Best Scalloped Bedding to Romanticize Your Bedscape (2025)
The best scalloped bedding may be the trend du jour and a true companion of cottagecore bedding, but the charming design goes back to the Renaissance and Victorian periods. In fact, Louis XIV and Queen Anne were rumored fans of the scallop detail. That’s why we picked the best options fit for royalty, but suited for the everyday.Adding bed linens, pillow shams, and throws with this scooped shape elevates even the most basic coverlet or duvet set. While a scalloped edge will romanticize floral sheets even further, when paired with a deep navy hue and a more loopy motif your bedding set will skew coastal. Here, 13 of the best scalloped bedding sets and accessories that get you out of the bedroom doldrums. Our Top Picks for the Best Scalloped Bedding:A Statement Pillow: Tov Furniture Scalloped Edge Throw Pillow, $48 $41Best Duvet Cover Set: Quince European Linen Double Embroidered Edge Duvet Cover Set, $347 $150For a Coastal-Inspired Bedroom: Serena & Lily Baywood Quilt, $398 $319Whimsical Bed Sheets: West Elm Rhode Begonia Sheet Set, $139A Maximalist Quilt: Anthropologie Iluka Cotton Printed Floral Quilt, $198Tov Furniture Scalloped Edge Throw PillowTov Furniture puts a modern spin on the scalloped edge of this decorative pillow by creating a wavy trim that can work equally well in a bed with gingham sheets or as an accent pillow against solid colors. The velvet cover feels plush to the touch. And at this sale price, you’ll likely want more than one.Quince European Linen Double Embroidered Edge Duvet Cover SetWhile technically not a true scallop edge, the embroidery on the Quince European linen duvet set gives off an undulating texture that reads like a natural wave thanks to organic wrinkling. The sand-colored linens and terracotta embroidery are on point when it comes to the earthy color palettes that are so prevalent in bedrooms these days.Serena & Lily Baywood QuiltCoastal meets cottagecore. The Serena & Lily Baywood quilt makes us think of artisanal bedding—just look at the hand-pick stitching detail. You’ll definitely want to add the Baywood sham to your cart, too. The sky-blue edge is like a welcome hello wave every time you enter your bedroom. But you can also be a purist and go all in with white.West Elm Rhode Begonia Sheet SetThe dainty flowers of the West Elm Rhode Begonia 200-thread-count sheet set come into two colorways (bright blue and Dijon yellow), each with a corresponding curvy stitched edge. It’s just the type of craftsmanship that differentiates basic bedding from a place you don’t want to leave on a Sunday morning.Anthropologie Iluka Cotton Printed Floral QuiltAnthropologie never fails when it comes to bringing floral motifs, and we are dizzy with joy for the perky marigolds on the Iluka cotton quilt with the perfect scalloped edge. As if the print wasn’t reason enough, it’s actually reversible and has a white ditsy floral pattern set against a chartreuse backdrop. Your order wouldn’t be complete without matching shams. The Company Store Company Cotton Embroidered Scallop Sateen Bed Sheet SetFew things rival classic white sheets, but adding just a bit of extra detail take this 300-thread-count combed cotton sateen set to an entirely new level. The scallop detail almost looks like peony petals, especially if you opt for the blush trim. But if you’re more of a minimalist, there is also white and grey. These even come in twin/twin xl should you want to give these to a grad.Pom Pom At Home Kelly Linen Duvet CoverOne look at the Lulu and Georgia Kelly linen duvet cover and euro shams by Pom Pom at Home and you’ll want to hop into bed. The crisp lines of the scallop edge are a nice contrast to the textured linen fabric. For a more rustic look, consider the flax colorway.Anthropologie John Robshaw Kimari Euro ShamThink of the John Robshaw Kimari soft jacquard cotton chenille euro sham as the accoutrement to your bedroom decor. The floral pattern of the renowned textile designer gives a nod to the Arts and Crafts Movement and will pair well against a walnut wood headboard. To tap into the Renaissance style, why not go with bougie burgundy? All you need to do is fall into bed to feel the quality of 400 thread count long staple cotton sateen weave. (FYI: Long staple yarn is softer, smoother, and less likely to pilling). You can choose from 16 trim colors that span gold to navy.Pottery Barn LoveShackFancy Blue Rose ShamFor the ultimate romantic, look no further than LoveShackFancy. The ruffled lace sham with a scalloped edge frames the embroidered blue roses on the front. Breakfast in bed is the way to go with this gorgeous design. Or perhaps a Bridgerton marathon is in the books?Ballard Designs Emma Scalloped BedskirtGive your bed an extra layer with the Ballard Designs Emma scalloped bed skirt. It comes with five trim colors (including blue, pink, and grey) but we like the white-on-white because it gives the bed a more structured, yet regal look. With more than 400 5-star reviews, this cotton twill bed skirt is clearly a favorite. Bonus: the crisp pleat design is made to accommodate corner posts.Pottery Barn Scallop ThrowThe casual scalloped detailing woven into the Pottery Barn Teen throw gives it a darling sensibility. Keep it at the foot of your bed if you need to ward off a chill. Don’t be surprised if your cat claims it as his own. But don’t worry, it is machine washable so you can toss it in for a refresh any time.Crate & Barrel Amalfi Scallop EdgeThrow Pillow with Feather InsertA nautical motif is perfect for a beach house or a guest bedroom and the Crate & Barrel Amalfi scallop edge throw pillow delivers. The exterior is European flax linen and the feather-down insert with its organic cotton shell is the ideal medium firmness.

Poll: GameStop Offers A Tempting Switch 2 Trade-In Deal, But Is It Really Worth It?
Image: Nintendo LifeBuying a new console on or close to its launch date (or, in some cases, at any point during its lifespan) can be exceptionally costly. It's often a good option, then, to flog your current-gen console and get a discount off your next hardware purchase, especially if the new one is backwards compatible. In the case of the Switch 2, GameStop has confirmed that it is offering a pretty reasonable deal in the US if you trade in your old Switch towards the new system. If you bring in your Switch OLED, you can bag up to $175 off Switch 2. For standard Switch consoles, you're looking at $125, and for Switch Lites, it's $100.Subscribe to Nintendo Life on YouTube810kWatch on YouTube Not bad, to be honest! That said, as highlighted by Gizmodo, these prices will likely only be valid if your Switch is boxed and in pristine condition. Any blemishes or stick drift issues will significantly decrease the value (or even result in an outright rejection). Which begs the question: Is it actually worth it? Heck, even we, who strive to keep our Switches in the absolute best condition possible, might not qualify for the full amount. After years of use, the rubber on our analogue sticks has worn away, and the Joy-Con rail system isn't quite as sturdy as it used to be. Even if there aren't any visible cracks or scratches, as such, they still probably wouldn't get that coveted 'A grade' trade-in value. A previous poll in which we asked whether you would trade your Switch for the Switch 2 resulted in a whopping 65% of the community stating that you would definitely keep hold of your console. Images: Zion Grassl / Nintendo Life This was either due to a desire to hand it down to someone else, to keep it for titles like Ring Fit Adventure, or simply to hold onto it for the memories and preservation's sake. The bottom line is that trading in your Switch wasn't an appealing prospect for many. There's even an additional incentive to keep it now that we know it will also support GameShare with certain titles. But here's the thing... we now know the price of the Switch 2, and that thing ain't cheap. Even on its own, you're looking at £395.99 / $449.99 / €469.99, and then with games and accessories on top of that, it all adds up to a substantial amount. Trading in your OG Switch may well be your only way to jump aboard the Switch 2 train. So, given what we know now about the pricing, and in light of GameStop's pre-order deal, we thought it was worth asking again: Will you be trading in your current Switch for Switch 2? Would your console be granted the full trade-in value? Let us know by voting in the below polls, and be sure to leave a comment to expound on your decision. With what we know now, will you be trading your Switch towards the Switch 2? Instagram Edits topped 7M downloads in first week, a bigger launch than CapCut’s
Instagram Edits, Meta’s newly released video creation app, had a bigger debut than its direct competitor, ByteDance’s CapCut, once did. The new app, which today helps users craft videos for Instagram reels, stories, and other social posts, was downloaded an estimated 702,900 times on iOS devices during its first two days on the market. That’s around 37 times more downloads on iOS than CapCut saw in its first two days of availability, according to data from app intelligence provider Appfigures. As of Thursday, Edits had grown to 1.2 million iOS downloads and 5.9 million downloads on Android, for a total of 7.1 million. By comparison, CapCut was downloaded only 83.5K times in its first three days on iOS and Android. To be fair, CapCut was only available in half the global markets at launch, but even if its numbers were doubled or tripled, Edits would be far ahead. In the U.S. alone, Edits was downloaded 381,000 times in the first three days, while CapCut had been downloaded just 3,400 times during its U.S. debut. In this more direct comparison, Edits’ U.S. launch was 112x the size of CapCut’s. Edits’ fast adoption also led to the app achieving a high ranking during its debut, Appfigures found, which could help boost its downloads further and increase competition. These numbers are also a demonstration of how powerful Meta’s network effects are when it comes to launching new apps that benefit from its wider social networking ecosystem. The new Instagram companion app hit No. 1 on the U.S. iPhone App Store’s charts, including the Top Overall apps and Top Apps (minus games) on its first day, April 22. By day two, it dropped to No. 2 on both charts, then remained there, before falling to No. 3 by Friday. Because the App Store tracks top apps by number of downloads and velocity of new installs, that’s left Edits currently ranking higher than CapCut, which was No. 14 Overall and No. 10 among top non-game apps on the U.S. App Store after its first three days on the market. However, Edits still has a long way to go to catch up with CapCut’s overall user base. The ByteDance-owned app, popular with TikTok creators, launched in April 2020 and has since been downloaded on iOS and Android 1.22 billion times worldwide, excluding China. So far, Edits has received a mixed reaction from creators, reports social media marketing consultant, Lia Haberman, in her recent newsletter. Many praised the app’s ease-of-use, built-in analytics, ad-free nature, support for 4K video, and watermark-free exports. Critics pointed out that Edits still lacked features provided by CapCut, including things like templates and a plethora of transition effects. In time, Edits could still catch up to CapCut, but it could also then choose to add a paid tier as a means of monetization or introduce ads.

    Orcutt-Ford Homestead // c.1751
In about 1751, Emerson Orcutt (1713-1777) purchased land in North Abington, Massachusetts, and built a half cape for his family. In 1762, Orcutt sold some of the land to John Ford, who was later a Lieutenant in the Continental Army, and according to local tradition, Ford added the other half of this current Georgian Cape house, giving it the current configuration. Character defining architectural details include an entry surround with fluted pilasters, and dentil cornice band on the main facade, 12-over-12 sash windows, and the central chimney, which would have heated both sides of the house. The property remained in the Ford family for over 100 years, and has since been converted back to a single family residence. Today, the charming pre-Revolutionary cottage is one of the oldest extant houses in Abington.

Through Surreal Paintings, Shyama Golden Reincarnates a Mythic Narrative
“Too Bad, So Sad, Maybe Next Birth” (2025), oil on linen, 42 x 80 inches. All images courtesy of PM/AM, shared with permission Through Surreal Paintings, Shyama Golden Reincarnates a Mythic Narrative April 26, 2025 Art Grace Ebert When Shyama Golden would find herself disappointed as a child, her parents would often respond with “too bad, so sad, maybe next birth.” Invoking reincarnation and the possibilities of an alternative life, this phrase continues to reinvent itself in Golden’s practice. On view next month at PM/AM, Too Bad, So Sad, Maybe Next Birth presents a collection of lush paintings filled with surreal details, earthly textures, and a recurring blue-faced character. As with earlier series, the artist invents a vast, magical narrative that flows through each of the works, this time as a four-act performance. “Bevis Bawa Garden, 1936” (2025), oil on linen, 72 x 60 inches The mythical storyline unfolds with a collection of diptychs comprised of a large-scale scene and a close-up companion offering another perspective. These pairings visualize a sort of alternative past for the artist as she explores the inexorable twining of personal agency and larger forces like fate and collective experiences that shape our identities. In Too Bad, So Sad, Maybe Next Birth, Golden opens with her blue-faced alter ego named Maya, a rendition of the Sri Lankan folklore tricksters known as yakkas. Dressed in a fur suit, the character lies in the roadway, her chest split open to reveal a bright red wound. A bag of oranges is littered nearby. The counterpart to this titular work is a self-portrait of the artist barefoot, posed against the rocky roadside. She stands atop cracked pavement while oranges spill blood-red juice on the ground. Introspective yet invoking the universal, the pair grasps at the tension between unexpected violence and death, whether metaphoric or real, and the ability to find resilience in the face of adversity. Golden’s series continues to unravel as a series of contrasts. She considers fame, erasure, and where freedom resides within the two, along with the notion of sole creative geniuses mistakenly thought to operate outside the whole. And in “Mexican Texas, 1862,” the artist tackles the porous, if not arbitrarily drawn, boundaries that tie us to states and nations and ultimately, change over time. “Stories of My Death Have Been Greatly Exaggerated” (2025), oil on linen, 72 x 36 inches In addition to her oil paintings for this exhibition, Golden is collaborating on an animated video project with her husband, the director Paul Trillo, who will build an AI model trained exclusively on Golden’s paintings. Given the hesitation by many artists about the role of artificial intelligence and intellectual property, the pair is interested in confronting the issue from the perspective of influence and the myth of the lone genius. Golden writes: Many artists who are canonized are actually working in a style that they didn’t invent but that was part of a movement arising out of their time and location. AI is deeply unsettling to artists in the West because we romanticise the artist as a singular figure, who is only influenced by one to three other clearly defined artists, giving them a lineage of artistic inheritance and perceived value. Golden also ties this idea to “the clout needed to command a price for our work,” which she suggests is simply another narrative device in the act of self-mythologizing. If you’re in London, Too Bad, So Sad, Maybe Next Birth runs from May 23 to July 1.
