Marvel Rivals developer NetEase has apologized to rightfully pissed-off players who were unfairly banned for cheating. The problem is even though they were not using cheating software, this resulted in false bans. NetEase failed to say how many.NetEase said (via IGN) that it admitted it had mistakenly flagged some players who were playing in compatibility layer programs as cheaters. "We sincerely apologize for this situation and want to assure you that we do not and will not ban players who are playing fairly and without cheating," NetEase said. "We have identified the specific reasons behind these false bans and have compiled a list of affected players. According to a veteran video game industry analyst, 2025 could be the year that Microsoft goes "all-in" on bringing its Xbox games to other platforms, including PlayStation 5. Microsoft, of course, has already begun to launch some games on rival platforms, but Serkan Toto of Kantan Games believes Microsoft will lean further into that this year.Toto told GI.biz that Microsoft may opt to do this for a variety of reasons, including helping to pay for its massive buyout of Activision Blizzard and the "huge lead" of PlayStation in the market."2025 might be the year where they go all-in," Toto said. One Piece, as a series, has never shied away from engaging in various philosophical debates. Whether its the overarching idea of freedom versus order, or the complicated issue of how the Fishman should handle their relationship with the surface, each new One Piece arc seems to introduce more topics to spark conversation in the community. Although many times these arguments can feel particularly one-sided, with Oda taking an obvious stance in the story itself, these philosophical moments are still one of the most interesting parts of the series in general.

It's officially 2025, which means Ken Levine and Ghost Story Games' BioShock-esque FPS Judas is almost here at least, that's the hope. In Judas, players control a character named "Judas" aboard the Mayflower, a massive generation ship transporting the remnants of humanity to Proxima Centauri after Earth becomes uninhabitable. The Mayflower's three leaders Tom, Nefertiti, and Hope all run a controlled society aboard the ship, where machines groom residents to be model citizens, encouraging them to report any unlawful behavior. Judas, however, has broken free from this societal conditioning, starting a revolution on the ship and making herself an enemy of the state.

Fane is arguably one of the most interesting characters in Divinity: Original Sin 2. Hes the only undead option among the Origin characters, and has a deep connection to the story and the lore of the world. As a result, having him on the players team makes for a more engaging experience.

In Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, the latest feature from Aardman Animation and Netflix, Feathers McGraw, the claymation duos most feared foe, is back, and hes out for revenge. In 1993s The Wrong Trousers, Wallace and Gromit busted the penguin mastermind for stealing a giant diamond. Feathers was sentenced to life in a zoo. Netflixs new movie starts with Feathers safely locked away and Wallace and Gromit going about their lives as local heroes.However, given Feathers absolute diabolical genius, commitment to being extra as hell, and sheer determination in the face of insurmountable odds, I think he should go free. I understand his drive for vengeance.[Ed. note: This post contains light setup spoilers for Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl.]Allow me to present my evidence: Feathers knows how to take advantage of the bumbling humans around him, and use their incompetence to his advantage. In a world where the animal companions seem to be continuously shortchanged Vengeance Most Fowl kicks off with Wallace refusing to pet his dog Gromit, or spend any time with him! What the heck! Feathers sees right through this bullshit and isnt afraid to take what he wants.Hes also adorable. In a freaky way. With his beady, expressionless eyes and stoic face, Feathers inspires terror. I want to give him a wee kiss on top of his round head. I think its hilarious that he knows how to shoot a gun without any opposable thumbs.Everything is stacked against Feathers, but he intelligently identifies the best ways to achieve his desired goals by poking holes in the status quo. He turns the community against Wallace, local hero! He takes advantage of humans reliance on technology by hacking Wallaces robot gnomes to be his own minions! He uses the fact that local law enforcement is more concerned about their reputation than actually helping the community!Im not defending his crimes. He did, in fact, steal a priceless jewel. But much like Ocean 11s Danny and Rusty, Mr. Wolf in The Bad Guys, and DC Comics Catwoman, hes got the kind of style and flair that turn him into a relatable protagonist instead of a hissworthy antagonist. I know Im rooting for him.Feathers fate in Vengeance Most Fowl is open to interpretation maybe my plea has already been heard, and writers Mark Burton and Nick Park dont want their feisty criminal penguin remanded to the carceral state any more than I do. But just in case: Let Feathers be free!Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl is streaming on Netflix now.

But we also couldnt ignore the hundreds, if not thousands, of incredible video games that just didnt have the following, marketing budget, or intention to break into the mainstream more video games were made in 2024 than ever before.And still, a good handful of readers came to our comments sections to share that their favorite games of 2024 actually came out in 2023 (or earlier) sentiments like Im still playing Baldurs Gate 3, My GOTY is Stardew Valley, or my personal favorite, Once again I have forgotten to play any of the games of the year. In the wake of video games awards season and in preparation for a year thatll be filled with massive releases like Grand Theft Auto 6, Civilization 7, and a new Switch console, I implore you to harness the energy of these commenters.It may be more the plight of a games journalist than the average person to get caught up in every new release there is to consume. But if you are someone who awaits each new title with bated breath, January is a great time of year to take a gander at your backlog. Personally, I used the Steam Winter Sale as an excuse to add a few more 2024 titles I didnt get to earlier Satisfactory, Trash Goblin, and some even older releases like Firewatch and Dave the Diver. I also picked up Tiny Glade at the end of 2024 and started my first Baldurs Gate 3 run in August.Nothing about it being 2025 now makes these games less excellent. In fact, I find an extra satisfying feeling in playing games that arent new like Im finally part of the club that knows how amazing Firewatch is. Its like reading a classic novel. So if you, too, have a daunting backlog, I say start with the oldest game and work forward or pick up a game youve taken a long break from. Its never a bad idea to remember what made you fall in love with a game, or a genre, or a developer, no matter what big titles are on the horizon. And hey, maybe youll find your 2025 game of the year in the process.
