This means you won't be able to play the network test throughout the entire four days, rather during five three-hour periods only.Elden Ring Nightreign network test session timings:February 14: 3am-6am PT / 6am-9am ETFebruary 14: 7pm-10pm PT / 10pm-1am ETFebruary 15: 11am-2pm PT / 2pm-5pm ETFebruary 16: 3am-6am PT / 6am-9am ETFebruary 16: 7pm-10pm PT / 10pm-1am ETElden Ring Nightreign - First ScreenshotsThe network test is a preliminary verification test in which the selected testers play a portion of the game prior to the full game launch, Bandai Namco said."This large-scale Network Stress Test is designed to evaluate various aspects of the online system's functionality and performance."We are looking forward to your cooperation to make Elden Ring Nightreign even better."Bandai Namco has yet to say exactly what the Elden Ring Nightreign network test will offer, but did warn some text and game features may be different than in the final version.Elden Ring Nightreign is FromSoftwares standalone co-operative spin-off set in a world parallel to that of 2022s Elden Ring. It was announced at The Game Awards 2024 with a debut trailer, below, and a 2025 release window.PlayThe network test will allow three players to team up and take their chosen Nightfarers to battle "against new terrors, and explore an ever-changing map to defeat increasingly challenging bosses and ultimately take on the Nightlord," Bandai Namco added, before confirming the network test features a three day-and-night cycle squads must try to outlast. Here's the official blurb:The all-new adventure in Elden Ring Nightreign begins at the Roundtable Hold, set in a universe parallel to the events of Elden Ring. Players must choose from eight unique characters, each with their own abilities and powerful Ultimates. Their journeys take them to Limveld, an ever-changing environment, where they will have to make split-second decisions when it comes to combat and exploration in the face of a night cycle that shrinks the map with the coming Nights Tide.At the end of each night, players will face a powerful boss and, if victorious, awaken to bigger challenges. Each session will culminate in the third night when they must face off against the chosen Nightlord. Individuals can fight the night alone, but strength will come in numbers. Nightfarers must learn to cooperate to take down these challenges, combining their unique abilities together for an unparalleled experience. All is not lost for those who fall in defeat. Unsuccessful runs will grant players relics to allow them to customize and upgrade their characters tailored to their personal play styles.Elden Ring Nightreign is unlike any experience created before by FromSoftware, Inc. In this condensed action RPG, players will never experience the same journey twice as enemies, rewards, and Limveld itself are ever-shifting and evolving with each new session. Defeating greater enemies and venturing into the more dangerous parts of the map will uncover more powerful weapons and greater Rune rewards. Finding Sites of Grace gives each hero a chance to level up and gain crucial power. With each session-based adventure being akin to playing through an open-air dungeon, every journey provides an opportunity to grow lasting stat bonuses. Successful runs against the night bring players ever closer to defeating the Nightlord and unraveling the story behind each Nightfarer in this parallel world.Last year IGN had the opportunity to visit FromSoftware and go hands-on with an early build of Elden Ring Nightreign. We came away impressed, stating that Elden Ring Nightreign takes the cautious dungeon crawls of Elden Ring and turbocharges them into propulsive, slash n dash speedruns.Check out IGN's interview with game director Junya Ishizaki for even more on Elden Ring Nightreign.Wesley is the UK News Editor for IGN. WWW.IGN.COMMarvel Rivals Season 1 Update Has Disabled Mods, Much to the Dismay of Fans of Custom SkinsThe Marvel Rivals Season 1 update appears to have done more than add the Fantastic Four players say it's also cracked down on mods.Ever since Marvel Rivals hugely successful December launch players have used mods to create custom skins despite concern over account bans. Popular mods include turning Iron Man into Vegeta from Dragon Ball and Mantis into a goth. Theres even a mod that turns Jeff the Land Shark into Pochita from Chainsaw Man.The Vegeta as Iron Man mod for Marvel Rivals has been downloaded over 60,000 times. Image credit: Nexus Mods.Using mods violates Marvel Rivals terms of use, and developer NetEase itself has warned players against modifying game files. Despite the risk of getting banned, Marvel Rivals mods remain hugely popular.Until now. Players are reporting the Season 1 update has added asset hash checking, which in turn has disabled mods. The official Marvel Rivals Discord is starting to fill up with questions from bemused players who are asking why their mods arent working, and social media is now bubbling up the explanation.NetEase told IGN: "It is not recommended to modify any game files, as doing so carries the risk of getting banned."Some have suggested mod makers may be able to issue workarounds for their creations, but as it stands Marvel Rivals is a mod-free game. And the crackdown perhaps comes as little surprise. NetEase generates revenue from the free-to-play hero shooter through the sale of premium skins. If modding threatens that revenue in any way, NetEase will have taken a dim view.Weve seen a similar crackdown from other developers who sell premium skins for their games. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 developer Saber Interactive and publisher Focus Entertainment at one point disabled mods for the game, although later reversed its decision. Will NetEase for Marvel Rivals? In the meantime, check out the Marvel Rivals Season 1 patch notes, and official stats that reveal Marvel Rivals' pick and win rates in Quickplay and Competitive modes for Season 0. And keep an eye on the latest Marvel Rivals codes for free skins, and vote on the strongest Marvel Rivals characters in our community tier list.Image credit: Vegeta as Iron Man mod on Nexus Mods.Wesley is the UK News Editor for IGN. 9TO5MAC.COMApple Television could be the antidote for these disturbing TV trendsApples kicking off a new Home products strategy this year, and an Apple Television is reportedly being evaluated as a future product. Recent trends in the TV space reveal how much opportunity there is for Apple to disrupt the market with a new product and better direction.CES this week was full of glimpses into TV makers plans for the year ahead. And those plans, unfortunately, reflect a focus on gimmicky software and AI features that provide little true value to users.Scharon Harding writes for Ars Technica:The trend reveals the implications of TV brands increasingly viewing themselves as software rather than hardware companies, with their products being customer data rather than TV sets. This points to an alarming future for smart TVs, where even premium models sought after for top-end image quality and hardware capabilities are stuffed with unwanted gimmicks.Hardings full report goes in-depth on the examples she observed from CES. These include:LG turning its remote into an AI Remote that removes its input button in favor of one that loads a webOS dashboardwhich only makes sense when considering the companys recent pushes to show more ads throughout webOSTVs adding far-field microphones for Google Gemini supportwith fuzzy privacy implications and the prospect of getting a cut of Google subscription revenue laterSamsungs faulty AI tool for analyzing food on-screen and offering related recipescoincidentally, the company has a new Instacart partnership for grocery ordersLG and Samsung both implementing Microsoft Copilota chatbot with seemingly little value on a TV setIf you want to get discouraged about the prospects of future TV hardware, read the full piece.Opportunity abounds for an Apple Television to think differentOverall, these innovations in the TV space reveal a growing need for another player who can create a quality product without gimmicks or privacy hazards. In other words, an Apple Television needs to actually happen.Ive previously outlined five key reasons why Apple should absolutely make a TV set. This new CES report is an easy number six. Some might argue that modern Apple is big into services revenue and AI too.Apple has been growing its services revenue, sure. And its very focused on AI at the moment too.But unlike these other companies, Apple has a solid understanding of what makes a good product. Its hardware, software, and services coming together in a way that creates a compelling user experience.Modern TVs can provide great hardware, but the experience is harmed by the software and services pieces. My hope would be that if Apple launched a TV set, its emphasis on user privacy and thoughtful integration of hardware, software, and services could initiate a shift in the market.Thats probably a misguided hope. But one things for sure: with the troubling trends for new TV sets coming out of CES, I want an Apple Television more than ever.Would you buy an Apple Television? 9TO5MAC.COMSecurity Bite: macOS malware Banshee found using Apples own code to evade detection9to5Mac Security Bite is exclusively brought to you by Mosyle, the only Apple Unified Platform. Request your EXTENDED TRIAL today and understand why Mosyle is everything you need to work with Apple.A new report from Check Point Research details how a new variant of the infamous Banshee stealer malware from Russian-speaking cybercriminals takes a page from Apples own security practices to evade detection. The malware remained undetected for over two months by cleverly incorporating the same encryption methods as Macs XProtect antivirus detection suite. If youre an avid reader of Security Bite, youve heard me say (more than once) that malware stealers, usually through malware-as-a-service (MaaS) business models, are currently the largest threat to Mac users. Theyre destructive, targeting your iCloud Keychain passwords, cryptocurrency wallets, sensitive information from files, and even system passwords like a stealthy low-orbiting ion canon. Cybercriminals will often embed this malicious code in seemingly legitimate applications as a ploy to infect machines.Interestingly, this newly discovered variant of Banshee is doing something Ive never seen and even didnt know was possible. The malware effectively stole the string encryption algorithm directly from Apples XProtect antivirus engine. This technique, typically used by Apple to protect its YARA rules within XProtect Remediator binaries, was repurposed by the malware to hide its malicious code from detection. I talk more about YARA rules and XProtect here.Since antivirus programs are used to seeing this type of encryption from Apples legitimate security tools, they didnt flag it as suspicious. This strategy used by the malware authors proved to be quite effective until its own affiliates leaked the source code on underground forums in November 2024. It wasnt long before most antivirus engines on VirusTotal were updated with new signatures that could now detect the new strain. The malware authors shut down operations the next day after the code was leaked, according to the report. It was circulating for at least 2 months undetected.Threat actors distributed this new version mainly via phishing websites and malicious GitHub repositories. In some GitHub campaigns, threat actors targeted both Windows and MacOS users with Lumma and Banshee Stealer, according to Check Point Research. Lumma is another prolific strain of stealer malware but is written for and targets Windows users.Detailed analysis of the malware itself can be found in Check Points full report. FUTURISM.COMElon Musk Says He Longs to Get Pregnant So He Can Produce as Many Children as PossibleThe sexual tension between Elon Musk's posting disease and his obsessive transphobia is at an all-time highnow that the billionaire has admitted he wishes he could get pregnant. In a post on X-formerly-Twitter, the site owner enthusiastically agreed with a random user who joked about the multi-hyphenate and father of 12's ardor for reproduction."Can we all agree that if men giving birth was possible," the user wrote, "Elon would be on his 17th pregnancy."Quote-tweeting that jape, which was itself a reply to one of his own posts that included the pregnant man emoji that right-wingers so love to dunk on, Musk responded: "1000%."Obviously, trans men can and do get pregnant, and that simple reality seems to make reactionaries like Musk lose their minds. But within this exchange, paired with the context of Musk's fertility obsession, there lies something unexamined: a seeming desire for motherhood, or at least for the experience of breeding from a vantage point the South African-born edgelord will never experience. While the world is still quite far from achieving pregnancy in people assigned male at birth (AMAB), some scientists contend that uterus transplants could achieve this result if only cisgender men were bold enough to dream outside of their biology. That said, the concept of "MPREG," the netspeak abbreviation for male pregnancy fantasies and associated fan artwork, might fulfill some of Musk's reproductive urges and Grok, X's in-site AI, readily produced just that type of imagery.By feeding various prompts into Grok, Futurism was easily able to envisage the barren billionaire with a bundle of joy brewing inside him. Though other AI image generators have guardrails preventing them from creating images based on real people, the "anti-woke" Grok has no such foibles. It may be a while still until "elon MPREG" can become a reality but until then, Grok can keep the dream alive.Share This Article0 Comentários 0 Compartilhamentos 19 Visualizações

SCREENCRUSH.COMControversial Alien: Romulus Character Tweaked For Home ReleaseAlien: Romulus was generally well received by critics and fans of theAlien franchise. The movie was Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes and grossed over $350 million worldwide. A sequel is already in the works. But one aspect of the movie garnered a more mixed response, even among people who liked the movie overall: The appearance of the late Ian Holm, sort of reprising his role from the originalAlien, where he played a menacing android named Ash.InRomulus,Holms likeness appeared in the form ofa nearly identical synthetic lifeform named Rook. Found byRomulus human characters in the remains of a derelict space station, the reactivated Rook warns them about the xenomorph menace, and attempts to manipulate the heroes into serving the Weyland-Yutani corporation in its sinister goals. The real Holm passed away in the summer of 2020, buthe appears inAlien: Romulus through a variety of special effects technologies. Anpractical animatronic puppet was created for his scenes, and was used on the actual set of the film. Some shots of the character were then augmented with assorted computer generated images and deepfake technology.Putting aside whatever moral qualms you might have about resurrecting an actor after their death, the conceptsounds impressive. The results, however, werea little awkward. It didnt look like the real Ian Holm was sitting on a table speaking to the rest of the cast; it looked like a special effect. (Granted,Rook isnt an actual human being, which could arguably justify a little of the artificiality, but Rook didnt even look like a mass of tubes and fake skin.He just looked like CGI.)Butrecently someone on social media watchedAlien: Romulus at home, andthoughtthat the CG on Rooks face was tweaked and now looked incredible. They then askedRomulus director Fede Alvarez if this was true; if the effects for Rook had been altered for the release on home video. To which Alvarez replied Yes.READ MORE:Alien: RomulusIs Getting a SequelYou can see a little of the work that went into creating Rook, and the impressive animatronic with Holms likeness, in this featurette on the making ofAlien: Romulus.Apart from a couple very brief glimpses in that clip, I couldnt find any footage of the original Rook special effect online, so its hard to compare it to whatever is currently streaming. But i just took a look atAlien: Romulus on Disney+ and ... it still looks like an obvious effect to me? Perhaps at some point well get a side-by-side comparison that will show us the full scope of the changes. Id certainly be curious to see that.Alien: Romulusis currently available for streaming on Hulu (or on Disney+ if you also pay for Hulu). SCREENCRUSH.COM10 Terrible Movie Performances So Bad They Became IconicThere are plenty of great performances in the history of film that have been deemed iconic. Heath Ledgers Joker in The Dark Knight. Marlon Brando as mobster Vito Corleone in The Godfather. Gloria Swanson as faded silent film star Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard. These performances are memorable, theyre quotable, and theyre unforgettable. Its always a treat to watch an accomplished actor disappear into a beloved role, especially one that will be remembered for years to come. Most of these so-called iconic performances are good, everyone seems to agree. But there are certain actors who played certain characters in certain movies who are not, shall we say, remembered for their talent or their artistry or the way they moved us to tears. These performances are remembered for the exact opposite of all of those things, because, lets just be honest: theyre bad. These bad-yet-incredible performances are sometimes found in equally bad-yet-incredible films, or simply bad films, or even in films that are otherwise quite good. But its not just the badness that makes them memorable theres juice here, despite the lack of quality. Acting that is so bad we cant get it out of our heads deserves to be considered above stuff that is just plain bad, and thus easy to forget. Theres something about a truly awful performance that stands the test of time just as, if not better than, a great one.
