The term has had various meanings over time:In the 16th18th centuries, goody (short for goodwife) was used as a respectful or familiar title for a married woman of lower social standing.By the 18th century, goody took on the meaning of a treat or something desirable, likely from the idea of "good things."The modern sense of goody-goody as a self-righteously virtuous person emerged in the 19th century, extending from the notion of someone always behaving "good."What a goody two-shoes!Let me know how you fared with your Wordle today on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook. Directed by Joseph Kosinski of Top Gun: Maverick, this film stars Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a fictional Formula One racer who comes out of retirement years after a terrible crash to mentor a rookie played by Damson Idris.Though the trailer features little to no dialogue, the suspenseful music and thrilling visuals position it as a must-see summer blockbuster.F1opens in theaters on June 27, 2025.Novocaine | Superbowl Commercial (2025 Movie)Before the Super Bowl began, Paramount Pictures shared a brief TV spot for Jack Quaids upcoming movie. This action-packed film follows a mild-mannered banker whos immune to pain as he fights off a gang of robbers to rescue his girlfriend.Though the video is short, it did give audiences new glimpses of this unconventional but ultraviolent adventure. As the titular hero brushes off several high-concept injuries with zero trouble, Novocaine continues to show great promise as a unique, comedic action blockbuster.Novocaine opens in theaters on March 14, 2025.Jurassic World Rebirth | The Big Game SpotScarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey lead the next adventure in the Jurassic World franchise, with a thrilling sneak peek airing during the Super Bowl. Since the films first trailer was released days beforehand, the game day TV spot featured a lot of footage that had already been revealed, essentially making it a compressed version of the former. That doesnt detract from how exciting the film looks, as Jurassic World Rebirth promises to show a new gang of heroes facing off against an island filled with mutant dinosaurs in a film brimming with realistic visuals and heart-pounding action scenes.Jurassic World Rebirth opens in theaters on July 2, 2025.Mission: Impossible The Final Reckoning (2025)Naturally starting with Tom Cruise running, the trailer for Mission: Impossible The Final Reckoning gives an emotional and explosive preview of Ethan Hunts last mission on the big screen. As the trailer shows a flashback to the franchises very first film in 1996, it builds up a lot of hype for The Final Reckoning to be the culmination of the Mission: Impossible saga as Ethan and his team continue to face their biggest threat yet. With the trailer featuring breathtaking visuals, big dragons, and thrilling airborne battles, this film seems like it will live up to the legacy of the original film while presenting a fresh new take on an animated classic. On top of that, this commercial reveals it was only advertising the films next full-length trailer, which is scheduled to premiere on the Wednesday after Super Bowl Sunday. How to Train Your Dragon opens in theaters on June 13, 2025.Smurfs | Big Game Spot (2025 Movie) RihannaRihanna may not have headlined the Super Bowl halftime show again, but she starred in the trailer for the new Smurfs movie as Smurfette. The preview for 2025s Smurfs presents the titular characters voiced by a whole new cast of stars with a vibrant new animation style.Like the 2013 film, this adaptation will blend cartoons with live-action as the Smurfs travel from their village to the human world to save Papa Smurf in a family-friendly fantasy adventure.Smurfs opens in theaters on July 18, 2025.Marvel Studios gave fans another exciting preview of their next big crossover film, Thunderbolts*. Act Like You Know, GoDaddyIf theres anything that Super Bowl LIX is going to be remembered for, its not going to be the game itself. The Kansas City Chiefs looked anything but mighty as they were crushed by the Philadelphia Eagles 40-22 in a contest that was not as close as the score appeared. In fact, the only real entertainment we had all night was in this years batch of Super Bowl 2025 commercials.Unfortunately, this was not a year for all-time classic Super Bowl ads. There were some truly awful commercials, as well as a few that made us wonder how anyone thought that these were good ideas worthy of the millions of dollars that were poured into them. Regardless, there were also ads that stood out and left their mark with good humor. Weve taken those spots and narrowed them down to this years list of the 10 best Super Bowl 2025 commercials.Recommended VideosWhy did this commercial work while Mountain Dews Seal as a seal idea came off as freaky? For one thing, NerdWallet didnt put Kieran Culkins face on the Beluga whale. They just had him lend his voice to the companys new mascot as he informed a very surprised man about the credit card info services of NerdWallet. We can probably expect to see this whale make a comeback next year.RelatedAdmittedly, this commercial only works if you know Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez from the Fast & Furious movies. But if you do understand that their characters tend to race through life a quarter mile at a time, its amusing to see how a little taste of Hagen-Dazs ice cream convinces them to slow down and savor the moment. In 2012, Clint Eastwood had an incredible Super Bowl ad for Chrysler that doubled as an inspirational pep talk for the entire nation. Jeeps Owners Manual isnt quite on that level, but Harrison Ford lends it some much-needed gravitas as he speaks about freedom and what it means. For Willem Dafoe and Catherine OHara, its not enough to buy their own Michelob Ultra beers. They have to make a game out of it by hustling some marks into handing over their own Michelob Ultras while humiliating professional athletes likeSabrina Ionescu, Randy Moss, and Ryan Crouser. Dafoe and OHara turned out to be a great comedic duo, and almost everything they said or did in this ad was hysterical.Uber Eats did an excellent job of teasing this ad with snippets of Matthew McConaughey before revealing the premise. McConaugheys character believes that football is a conspiracy that was only created to make people hungry, and he draws from the long history of the game to make that point. Kevin Bacon, Martha Stewart, Greta Gerwig, and more also have cameo appearances, but this is a showcase for McConaughey at his silliest.Last years DunKings ad was our pick for the best Super Bowl 2024 commercial. Jennifer Lopezs barely contained fury made her look like she was going to immediately divorce Ben Affleck and Matt Damons apologetic demeanor for even being involved was hysterical. Without Lopez who actually did divorce Affleck a few months later or Damon, the sequel doesnt hold up quite as well. There are some good comedic bits, including Successions Jeremy Strong making fun of his method acting technique. But why is Bill Belichick there with his non-celebrity girlfriend who is almost a half-century younger than he is?Doritos struck gold with this very funny commercial about an amateur alien hunter who learns that UFOs are real and they want his chips. This is a callback to when the slapstick in Super Bowl ads could be over-the-top and hilarious. The closing moment of first contact is also very amusing.Maybe the reason the DunKings sequel wasnt as good as last years ad is because Matt Damon was busy starring in this commercial for Stella Artois, a Belgium beer. British soccer star David Beckham gets the news from his actual parents that he has a twin brother (played by Damon) who lives in America and has the same name. The two Davids find their common ground through a love for Stella Artois, some impressive kicking power, and a joke at Damons expense.Nothing plays bigger at the Super Bowl than nostalgia. In fact, one of the best Radio Shack ads ever made brought back several icons from the 80s. Instacarts Super Bowl ad kind of does the same thing with a lot of familiar advertising characters from the past. Chester Cheetah, the Jolly Green Giant, Mr. Clean, and even Isaiah Mustafas Old Spice Man resurface here in a race to your door in Instacarts delivery service.Walton Goggins, the silver-tongued Ghoul from Prime Videos Fallout series walked away with the best commercial of Super Bowl 2025. In the earliest days of GoDaddy, the internet tech company would just throw some half-naked women in showers and call it a tawdry day. This year, Goggins served as a very effective pitchman for GoDaddys web-hosting services while spoofing the notion that actors have any idea what theyre talking about.Oh, and the Walton Goggins Goggle Glasses seen in the ad? Theyre actually real, and you can find the site online. Its worth it alone for Goggins tagline: If youre goggles aint Goggins, they dont belong on your noggin.Editors Recommendations

  • Dunkin's Super Bowl ad hits Starbucks where it's already hurting
    www.businessinsider.com
Dunkin' roasted Starbucks in its Super Bowl advertisement. The ad, starring Ben and Casey Affleck, took shots at Starbucks' long wait times and over-customization.The ad ended with the bold slogan, "America runs on Dunkin'."Dunkin' used the biggest ad space of the year to take shots at Starbucks. The Super Bowl advertisement, which featured actor-siblings duo Ben and Casey Affleck and NFL coach Bill Belichick decked out in Dunkin' merch, depicted a competition among coffee brands. The Affleck brothers and Belichick took turns roasting a group of baristas dressed in green jackets, which resembled Starbucks' signature green aprons and uniforms.Although the trio did not explicitly mention Starbucks, they targeted some of the chain's widely publicizedproblems, such as long wait times and over-customization.When one of the green-clad baristas said, "Dunkin'! About to get roasted! Like a dark seasonal roast with coriander and slight balsamic drizzle," Belichick replied, "Sounds like what's in my garbage disposal."Ben Affleck took a jab at Starbucks, asking, "How much to wait a half hour to get my name spelled wrong in the cup?"His brother Casey followed up with "Nobody wants a goat milk double half-caf soy milk cap. You could just brew it it's beans and water."In the extended six-minute-long video, they also targeted fast-food brands like McDonald's coffee and breakfast are an increasingly important part of its menu. The ad comes as Starbucks' new CEO, Brian Niccol, has been working to simplify the chain's offerings and eliminate long wait times by streamlining its mobile ordering system. On the January 28 earnings call, Niccol and Starbucks' finance chief said the chain would also cut 30% of the menu items to streamline service.Niccol, who said that mobile orderings had "chipped away" at the company's "soul," is trying to make Starbucks a cozy coffeehouse where customers can hang out. Dunkin', meanwhile, has long been known as a cheaper to-go coffee shop with little comfortable seating. To reduce long wait times, Starbucks' CEO introduced a new algorithm for mobile orders in the earnings call in an effort to make mobile ordering a lot smoother.A Starbucks representative confirmed to BI on Wednesday that it would lower the cap on the number of drinks customers can buy in one mobile order from 15 to 12 and remove some customization options for its mobile orders.Representatives for Dunkin and Starbucks did not respond to requests for comment from Business Insider, sent outside regular business hours.

  • Russian troops are turning to donkeys for battlefield transport as the war approaches its 3-year mark
    www.businessinsider.com
Several Russian officials are defending military use of donkeys after images of the pack animals went viral.Pro-war bloggers said the donkeys are being used to transport ammo and supplies to front-line units. One parliament official said Russia is experiencing "very significant difficulties" with logistics.Donkeys are starting to appear among the Kremlin's invasion forces, with Russian media and war commentators reporting that the animals are used to ferry ammunition and supplies. The spotlight on the pack animals comes as the Ukraine war continues to strain resources on both sides, and as Russia's ability to sustain its cornered economy now increasingly reliant on defense manufacturing remains in question. Its full-scale invasion is set to enter its fourth year on February 24.Pro-Kremlin military bloggers published footage last week of soldiers interacting with donkeys, saying they were deployed as pack transport. Business Insider could not independently verify the authenticity of the footage."The guys in one of the directions were given a donkey for logistics. A real donkey," wrote one military blogger who posted a photo of a donkey standing next to a uniformed man."What did you expect? Vehicles are in short supply these days!" wrote another Russian commentator, Kirill Federov.A widely circulated voice note, which Russian bloggers said was from a soldier on the front lines, said the donkeys were not provided by volunteers but by Russia's Defense Ministry. However, the ministry has not publicly addressed the claim.Federov and several other bloggers also posted an image of three armed people in uniform posing with a camel. It's unclear how widely the donkeys are being deployed, but several Russian officials publicly defended the practice when the images went viral among military bloggers."There's nothing wrong with this," Viktor Sobolev, a member of the State Duma's defense committee, told the Russian outlet Gazeta. The State Duma is the lower house of Russia's national legislature.Sobolev, a retired lieutenant general of the Russian army, cited " very significant difficulties in supplying units and subdivisions" with ammo and food. He said pack-animal transport was a valid solution, and that losing a donkey would be better for the Russian military than losing troops or transport vehicles."During the Great Patriotic War, part of our artillery was horse-drawn," Sobolev added, referring to World War II.Another member of the State Duma defense committee, Viktor Zavarin, told the Russian TV network RTVI: "Let it work, let the donkeys help the victory."The Russian Defense Ministry did not respond to a request for comment sent outside regular business hours by BI.Meanwhile, the appearance of the donkeys has triggered a deluge of satirical memes in both Russia and Ukraine, such as a comic panel about aSoviet version of the donkey character Eeyorefrom the cartoon "Winnie the Pooh" being mobilized for the war.Two Majors, a popular pro-war Russian military blogger, asked on Telegram if donkeys that gave birth in service would have their offspring considered state-owned property."If one is captured by an enemy sabotage group, will it be considered missing in action or a prisoner of war?" they wrote.

  • Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime Show was more concerned with Drake than politics
    www.vox.com
Since Kendrick Lamar was announced as the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Shows headliner last September, music fans have been abuzz with excitement, wondering how the Pulitzer-Prize winner would handle the historic gig the first for a solo rapper. Fresh off a summer-long beef with Drake that birthed the Grammy-winning diss track Not Like Us, Lamar had the opportunity to put on the pettiest Halftime Show in the telecasts history. By January, he had also been caught up in a defamation lawsuit over Not Like Us, making it unclear whether hed even be able to perform the song. (He did.) There was also the big question that looms over any televised Lamar performance: what will the socially-conscious rapper have to say, if anything, about the current political climate? In the past, Lamar has taken opportunities on big stages to address hot-button issues and telegraph his own political anxieties. Hes invoked police brutality at the BET Awards, and mass incarceration not to mention his general disillusionment with America at the Grammys. Out of all the hip-hop acts that could have graced the Halftime Show stage, it seemed like Lamar had been chosen for his combination of showmanship and ability to generate conversation. That said, Donald Trumps recent re-election and shocking attendance at the Super Bowl; a first for a sitting president seemed like the ideal backdrop for Lamars signature provocative imagery and the political side of his catalog, like his 2015 song Alright, which was an anthem of the Black Lives Matter movement. And yet, Lamar had a different objective for the night. After the opening song, GNX (Teaser), Lamar gave the audience a frank memo of what not to expect over the next 12 minutes. The revolution bout to be televised, Lamar said while the music cut out. You picked the right time but the wrong guy. Kendrick Lamar performs in the Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show on February 9, 2025 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Kevin Sabitus/Getty ImagesIts not exactly a new sentiment if youve been paying attention to Lamars more recent musical output. On his fifth album, Mr. Morale and The Big Steppers, released in 2022, Lamar tackled societys ills and his own position as a socially conscious rapper, but had more questions and contradictions than answers. Meanwhile, it was hard to find the same political angst that drove 2015s To Pimp A Butterfly on his latest album, GNX, a radio-friendly victory lap following his highly publicized beef with Drake. On the 2021 Baby Keem song, Family Ties, he made his reservations about being seen as a political symbol clear. I been ducking the social gimmicks, he rapped. I been ducking the overnight activists / Im not a trending topic. Likewise, during Super Bowl LIX, Lamar avoided songs like Alright and The Blacker The Berry. He skipped the sort of anti-establishment messaging that got him lambasted by Fox News anchors in the past. Instead, he opted mostly for songs off of GNX, which hell tour around the country in April, including squabble up, peekaboo, tv off, and luther, featuring his future tourmate SZA. The pair also performed their 2018 collaboration All the Stars from the Black Panther soundtrack. Inevitably, he performed both of his most popular diss tracks from last summer, euphoria and, after much teasing, Not Like Us. The crowd sang along as he came to the songs most famous and quotable line tryna strike a chord and its probably a minorrrr. Lamar also sported a very visible lower-cased a necklace. And Serena Williams, the subject of many a Drake lyric, danced on the field during the performance. In short, the evenings biggest act of daring was aimed at Drakes lawyers, not some larger injustice.Still, the Halftime Show did gesture towards politics. During the opening number, numerous backup dancers emerged from a Buick GNX wearing solid red, white and blue hoodies. The show featured actor Samuel L. Jackson dressed as Uncle Sam in a patriotic suit and top hat. However, it didnt seem like Lamar was trying to articulate a rebuke of our current government or even any sort of message about the climate. Rather, we watched the rapper play, as Jackson called it, the American game. As Lamar maneuvered around the stage, designed as a game of tic-tac-toe, it felt like watching him navigate the social responsibility placed upon him as a Black entertainer and his own desires to sell out a little bit. Kendrick Lamar performs onstage with dancers during Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show on February 9, 2025 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Patrick Smith/Getty ImagesHe also demonstrated what happens when someone in his position falls outside of the lines of respectability and is seen by the wrong audience. Likewise, Jackson showed up several times throughout the medley, acting as both an emcee and Lamars corporate conscience. The songs he played, while less explicitly political than some in his repertoire, werent exactly network television-friendly or, better yet, fit for an NFL audience. After Lamar finished performing squabble up, Jackson derided the song as too loud, too reckless, too ghetto. Mr. Lamar, do you really know how to play the game? Jackson asked. Then you have got to tighten up! Lamar then moved into a performance of HUMBLE, his first radio hit following the To Pimp A Butterfly. His dancers, moving like robots, quickly assembled to create an American flag. The internet quickly underscored Lamars dilemma. Despite the relatively muted political commentary, right-wing pundits, like Eric Daughtery of Floridas Voice and former representative Matt Gaetz, ran to X to decry the performance as containing some sort of extremist, pro-Black agenda. Alt-right commentator Jack Posobiec called Lamars performance the DEI Halftime Show. Presumably, more offensive soundbites and comments from angry, white MAGA dudes will roll in throughout the week. Lamars Halftime Show may not have been the direct middle finger to Trump that his fans may have expected or wanted, but he did offer something other artists of his caliber would maybe refrain from doing on such a mainstream stage examine his own place in American culture. Lamar proved that he can still be an agitator without standing on a cop car or performing in chains. Even at his most palatable, his art will ultimately never be safe. See More:

Habitable spaces need a very sensitive approach in every possible way. The threshold design can be one of the key aspects that could enrich the experience through various overlaps, overlaps can be of activities, public & private spaces, or built & unbuilt. Proposed in a semi-rural area of the pilgrimage town Vani in Nashik, Maharashtra, this house sits on a long, narrow rectangular strip oriented east to west, with its longer edges sharing walls with neighboring houses. The client envisioned a home for a family of four, complemented by an office space to support their priesthood practice, which sees 5060 visitors daily from the town and nearby villages.Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!Located in a congested semi-rural area, and considering the conditions of the narrow site, the design strategically juxtaposes built and unbuilt spaces, creating four voids-open parking, public courtyard, private courtyard, and backyard-that offer light and ventilation while providing flexibility for future expansion. The surroundings of the site are vernacular homes, intimate in scale and alive with social activity. Design started by placing a semi-covered verandah space along with the street which is the first interaction of the house with the context. It serves as an informal office and living room, allowing the priest to effortlessly engage with clients and guests. It becomes the overlap between the public and private activities. Opening into a public court, which serves as arrival of the house, also extends the verandah's functionality, accommodating expanded activities as needed.Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture! The second open space is placed a little deeper in the plot and becomes the private courtyard which is surrounded by a living room, dining and bedroom on the ground floor and also overlooked by two bedrooms placed on the first floor. This court is placed on the southern side to ensure the maximum light and ventilation to the house. It plays a pivotal role as a connective family space as all functions overlook it while maintaining their privacy. The inward-looking plan helps to strengthen the family connections, with spaces like the entrance courtyard, veranda, kitchen, and inner courtyard carefully arranged to foster communication and interaction. The office and verandah on the street have vertical fins that ensure privacy from the congested neighborhood while offering ease of connection with the public space encouraging them to elevate their business. Also creating a balance between personal and community life.Save this picture!Save this picture! The woman of the house, who manages most household activities and is indulged in the priesthood business, plays a pivotal role in shaping the design. Reflecting her needs and routines, the kitchen is strategically positioned to connect seamlessly with the public court, parking space, and dining area. Incorporated elements, such as standing balconies, enhance functionality and interaction. One balcony faces the parking area and street, fostering a connection with neighbors and the outdoor public, while the second balcony opens into the public court, enabling effortless service during gatherings or office activities.Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture! Two bedrooms are positioned on the upper floor, thoughtfully designed with vertical openings and standing balconies to ensure ample light and ventilation while maintaining privacy amidst the closely packed neighboring houses. Each room opens into terraces that overlook the various courts, seamlessly integrating the spaces and unifying the house as a cohesive entity. The scale of the built form has been derived from the surrounding context. It has been conceptualized by incorporating a 7-foot covered entrance that leads to an open-to-sky courtyard. The second covered space is an 8-foot veranda, serving as a public interface. This is followed by the 9-foot ground floor, which connects to the double-storey private spaces above.Save this picture! The entrance court acts as a flexible arrival space, linking private and public areas. The inner courtyard serves as the central family space, connecting private functions, while the backyard functions as a utility area, space to sun/air dry foods for preservation, and ventilation for the living room. The built and unbuilt, the organization of function, the detailing of the elements, and the way of living life overlap and become the 'House of Overlaps', a space that invites, expands, and intimates as per the changing time and culture. OZBE is a new caf brand occupying four floors that offers premium fruits and serves them by directly juicing or plating these fruits on the spot. The first floor is the fruit market, the second floor contains the offices, and the third and fourth floors consist of lounge areas for customers.Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!During the early stages of design, contemplation about the gray concrete finish intrinsic to the building itself came first. There were concerns that the juxtaposed characteristics between fruit which inevitably make one expect impressions of freshness and greenery and the concrete may potentially lead to detracting from each other's innate charm. After thorough consideration, we envisioned the image of "flowers blossoming from the crevices in gray concrete." Though this may look pitiful relative to flowers in full bloom in a garden, each petal brimming with light, it exudes a powerful presence and life force unmatched by any other. With that, the design was intended to empower OZBE's fruits to carry the "energy of hunched vitality" within the space.Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture! To that end, the design aimed to retain as much of the original concrete finish as possible while creating visual and affective balance with the space's main material, maple hardwood. The sensibility of this balance reaches fruition when the colorful fruit is placed in the space. This connectivity exists not only on the ground floor but also on all floors above it. The scattering of plants of a variety of sizes was intended to maintain this balance instead of fruit and add a touch of warmth and texture.Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!Anticipating that the space would attract many middle-aged customers or families due to the fruit market, establishing beauty and utility that can be shared by all age groups was another challenge. After a lengthy week, when PlayStation players wanted to enjoy a perfect gaming night, only to find that the service was down. And even worse, it was broken for nearly a day before it finally got restored. The PlayStation Network outage caused all related services to be disabled, and players were unable to access online gaming, streaming services, and the PlayStation Store. The Ask PlayStation support account posted that Sony offers five free days for all PlayStation Plus members as compensation for the outage, which started around 6 pm EST last Friday. It said that the outage was caused by a generally worded operational issue without offering further explanation or details.Players anger and frustration spread all over on social media, with one player named Ramos saying: PSN down on a friday night is criminal. Besides affecting published titles like Fortnite, Marvel Rivals, and Call of Duty, it also deeply affected Monster Hunter Wilds, which is going through its second open beta test to get ready for its official release scheduled at the end of the month. As a result, developers have considered running OBT2 for an additional 24 hours at a future date. This outage might not be that frustrating compared with the 23-day downtime that occurred when the PlayStation Network was hacked in 2011, but still, this unexpected wave in the calm waters of online gaming still concerns players. The possibility of similar issues happening in the future has caused growing frustration and concern, especially since Sony has not shared any specific plans on how they will prevent this from occurring again.Dont forget to join our 80 Level Talent platformand ournew Discord server, follow us onInstagram,Twitter,LinkedIn,Telegram,TikTok, andThreads, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.Source link The post PSN Is Back After Down For A Day, But Players Arent Fully Relieved appeared first on CG SHARES.
