1047 Games announced that the open alpha test for Splitgate 2 will run from February 27 - March 2 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.The alpha test includes a new 24-player multi-team experience where players can split into three groups of eight and fight against each other. In these matches, there will be two modes to play: Domination and Hotzone. In Domination, teams will have to take over and control four zones while keeping other teams out. Hotzone works similarly except there's one central zone instead of four individual ones. There are two additional new games modes called Splitball and Firecracker. The former combines classic capture the flag mechanics and Halo's Oddball. Players will need to hop between portals into enemy territory and steal Splitballs while defending their own home base. Last nights PlayStation State of Play event rocked us with a slew of game announcements and trailers, but in between all of that was the monthly lineup for PS Plus subscribers. Said lineup includes Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, an exploration-forward, lightsaber-swinging romp with a self-contained story starring a notable Star Wars ginger. You dont necessarily need to have played its (also good) predecessor, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, in order to follow along and agree that the little droid BD-1 is one of the cutest sidekicks in all of gaming. Starting Feb. 18, the game will be available to PS Plus Extra and Premium members.But of course thats not all; it never is. Also available: Top Spin 2K25, a favorite of my colleague Pete Volk, who played out an alternate version of the movie Challengers in the games campaign mode.Plus theres the first chapter of Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, which was already coming out on Feb. 18 but will now also be available day-and-date via PS Plus Extra and Premium. The upcoming game from Dont Nod has big Life Is Strange vibes, showcasing a group of teen girls who suddenly get thrown into a supernatural adventure together. It looks to have some pretty accurate teen girl representation, too, based on early trailers. (The games second and final chapter will be out April 15 and will be in the PS Plus catalog that day, too.)SaGa Frontier Remastered, Somerville, Tin Hearts, and Mordhau will be available on PS Plus Extra and Premium, too, starting Feb. 18. Team Asobi has announced that five new levels are coming to Astro Bot as weekly drops, starting on Feb. 13. (Thats today!) As with previous additions to the Game of the Year winner, the new levels are free to download and, of course, each comes with a new Special Bot to rescue. Its hard to say what cute, robotic PlayStation characters could possibly top the twin Spider-Man bots from the Christmas level, but Im excited to find out.Studio director Nicolas Doucet warned players to expect harder levels to test your jumping skills from the staggered update. Once players have completed each level and unlocked its Special Bot, it will become accessible in Time Attack mode, with online rankings. In 1952, Alexander Girard joined Herman Miller as the founding director of their textile department. Close friends with Charles and Ray Eames, he felt most interior fabrics of the time were reserved, monotone, and somewhat drab. In response, Girard upended these values with his first collection full of bright colors, bold textures, and a solid sense of pattern. I see my role and have always seen my role with Herman Miller as one of adding to what they have, making things more palatable, he said. Originally designed for the Miller House in collaboration with architect Eero Saarinen, the genre-defining conversation pit featured a blooming centerpiece: the Girard Flower Table, bathed in brass.Over the next two decades, he would go on to design over 300 pieces, each adding and redefining the genre of modernism and eventually post-modernism, a visionary of his time. His influence is felt throughout multiple different industries, having an impact stretching generations. Defining the Herman Miller textile department with a thorough sense of joy has certainly contributed to their influence in the industry, a mainstay for over 70 years, promoting stellar design and craftsmanship.The original Girard Flower Table still lives as the centerpiece of the Miller Houses sunken conversation pit, with a modification of an altered tabletop in 1977.
