  • Fortnite Map Changes In Chapter 6 Season 2
    www.gamespot.com
The new Fortnite map is here, giving the island a GTA-like makeover with several tightly-packed city elements, Black Markets to shop at, and new vehicles driving around with lots of loot up for grabs. In this guide, we'll show you the new map, its places of interest (POI) you've not seen before, and show you which parts of last season's island are coming back mostly intact. First, let's take a look at those new POIs. Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 map and new named locationsThis season, the new named locations are centered around the west coast of the island, mostly situated in the center portion of that coast. From north to south, the new POIs are:Lonewolf LairShiny ShaftsOutlaw OasisCrime CityCrime City will give the season a vibe akin to past cityscape POIs seen both last season, with the returning Seaport City, as well as the fan-favorite Mega City from Chapter 4. Shiny Shafts are likely where players will locate many of the gold veins, which can be struck with a pickaxe to collect the Gold Rush effect, as explained in our Chapter 6 Season 2 overview.Lonewolf Lair, meanwhile, sounds like it's the lavish home to this season's Big Bad--who just so happens to literally be a big, bad wolf, Fletcher Kane. You can see him and other characters in our Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 battle pass gallery.Outlaw Oasis sounds like it'll be the hub for the anti-heroic heist crew that rounds out most of the battle pass lineup. The good guys need their haven too, after all. Returning locations in Chapter 6 Season 2With these four new spots taking up real estate, that gorgeous purple forest of last season is gone, but many other dazzling locales remain. Here are the returning spots from northwest down to southeast:Whiffy WharfFlooded FrogsMagic MossesPumped PowerDemon's DojoBrutal BoxcarsFoxy FloodgateSeaport CityShining SpanShogun's SolitudeCanyon CrossingMasked MeadowsHopeful HeightsKappa Kappa FactoryLike other recent chapters that have maintained a distinct overarching inspiration, it seems Chapter 6 will cling to its Japanese inspirations even as each season tends to bring seismic shifts one region at a time. New sights and sounds of Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2As always, it's not just about the new places to go on the Fortnite island, but also the new things to see and do there. This season's Fast and Furious-like ambitions bring a lot of high-stakes action to the island.Armored Transport convoys can be seen moving high-value loot from A to B in each round, and it's up to you and your fellow crooks to decide if or when to yank it from the unsuspecting drivers. You can even hijack the armored trucks themselves, which should provide a nice buffer between you and the dozens of other players on the island.Even the train has been outfitted with armor, giving the past train loot stashes more of a neo-western aesthetic now. You'll need some of the new Fortnite weapons in Chapter 6 Season 2 to pull off these major loot hauls, not to mention a disciplined team by your side. For a better look at some of this season's new locales and sights to see, keep scrolling.

  • Fortnite New Weapons In Chapter 6 Season 2 - All Guns And Loot
    www.gamespot.com
With each new season, the Fortnite weapons and loot are greatly overhauled. This, of course, is the most exciting part of the game for many players--learning which guns are the best alone, best to group in their inventories, and where they might find the rarest items. Fortnite weapons in Chapter 6 Season 2 are no different in that way. There's a ton of new ones to suit the season's action-movie heist theme. It's a little bit GTA, a little bit Fast and Furious, and a whole lot of new weapons to show for it. Here's a rundown of the loot pool in Chapter 6 Season 2, from vault-exploding thermite to the armored truck-halting, dirt-digging rocket drill. New Fortnite weapons in Chapter 6 Season 2The list of new toys is a long one this season. Thermite can be used to crack a vault--and in fact is the only tool for doing so, though the Plasma Burst Laser can help speed up that process by removing some of its weaker points before the thermite is applied. The new Pump & Dump dual-wielding shotties (arriving in a few weeks with the first major patch of the season) feature a crypto-scam-inspired name. Thus, they perfectly embody this season's GTA-like vibes. There's a new mobster-themed melee weapon called The Kneecapper, and it helps you move around faster, longer, and jump higher, much like last season's katana.A Rocket Drill is coming in that first big patch, too, and it sounds like you'll be able to get around quickly with it, perhaps making it this season's new favorite traversal item. For sharpshooters, the new Falcon Eye Sniper will likely be favored, while those seeking something more all-purpose may instead opt for the Collateral Damage Assault Rifle and the Outlaw Shotgun, the latter of which arrives in that aforementioned patch in a couple of weeks.Tying in with the Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 battle pass character, Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat, you can also find Sub-Zero's Kombat Kit, granting you an icy slide ability and frosty fists--for post-Reboot-Van revenge best-served cold, I imagine.Epic has not yet revealed which weapons from past seasons--if any--are sticking around. Lately, it seems like the team opts to launch with mostly new loot, then unvault some favorites as the season progresses. For example, you can clearly see a grenade launcher in the debut trailer for the season, but there's no mention of it just yet. New utility itemsIt's not just about the guns you carry, but the gadgets, too. This season reimagines some classics and introduces some brand-new toys. The Pulse Scanner will help you ping enemies--personally, I will carry this or past items like it every time I find them--while Port-A-Cover will give players in both build mode and Zero Build a quick defensive answer to an offensive enemy, team, or NPC.For healing items, a never-before-seen Med-Mist Grenade lets you chuck stuff at your teammates to their benefit. Just no aiming for the face. You can even find Gold Splash, which grants nearby players the Gold Rush ability (and 20 healing) as detailed in our Chapter 6 Season 2 overview. Lots more in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 is just arriving, so you know even all these changes aren't all the season has in store for players. A lot more can be expected as the season unfolds between now and when it ends on May 2. For now, however, be sure you've seen it all and done it all with our Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 map changes guide.Keep scrolling for more images of the new Fortnite weapons and loot.

  • 'Beeftext' Is the Best Free Text Replacement Tool for Windows
    lifehacker.com
Text replacement tools, also called snippet managers, are one of those productivity tools everyone needs even if they don't know it. They let you paste any text you want in just a couple of keystrokes and are perfect for anyone who finds themselves typing the same information again and again (so basically, anyone who uses a computer). Whether you answer the same customer question multiple times a day for work or find yourself constantly telling friends about the parking situation at your house, it's handy to have a quick way to paste long bits of information. The Mac has a decent text replacement tool built in, which I mentioned when I talked about how I fixed my worst writing habits. Windows, it turns out, doesn't. So I'm glad I found Beeftext. This is a completely free and open source application that makes it easy to store and trigger snippets. To get started just download and install the tool (or, if you prefer, use the portable version). Now you can start creating "Combos." You can enter any text you want in the Snippet box. Note that there's also support for variables, meaning you can automatically include things like the date, time, or the contents of the clipboard. Credit: Justin Pot Finish writing the snippet and you can optionally choose a keyword that will trigger the snippet, replacing the word. This will work in every application on your computer so don't use a word that you might need to type in some other context. I like using short words starting with a semicolon, for example ;word, because I never type words that begin with semicolons otherwise. If you'd rather not create a bunch of keywords you don't have toyou can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-Shift-Enter from any application to launch the "picker window," which lets you search for and paste any of your snippets. Credit: Justin Pot There's a lot more this application you can do. For example, there's a checkbox in the settings for emoji shortcodes, allowing you to use the tool to quickly insert emojis. The variables allow you to emulate keystrokes or even PowerShell scripts to your snippets, meaning you could use this to set up automations if you really spent some time on it. All of this and more is outlined in the documentation. It's one of those tools you'll set up once and then wonder how you lived without.
