The crafting recipe to make one potion is one herb.In the early game, you can find herbs scattered around Windward Plains. There is an herb plant just outside the Windward Plains base camp by the camp exit, for example.Herbs look like a leafy plant that grows on the ground and are highlighted in green light. You will likely find loads of herbs by collecting plants as you explore various regions, however, you can use your map to find more.To find herbs, scan the map for icons that look like tiny plants. The default game settings are set so that it will automatically craft potions and mega potions. In other words, if you dont do anything, the game will immediately create potions when you collect the appropriate materials. Nice!However, you can also manually craft potions and some other healing items. Here is how to do it:Open the Items and Equipment menu.The top option highlighted under this sub-section says Crafting List. Select it. This will prompt a menu that contains a full list of craftable items. The first item at the top of the list is the potion. Select it and press the button again to craft it.You now have a potion! If it doesnt work, check how many potions you have in your Item Pouch. The game wont let you carry more than ten potions at a time so it wont let you make more if you hit the max already. (You also just might be out of herbs as well.)The previous steps apply to crafting other healing items, like mega potions and First-Aid Med+ as well. You just need different materials to craft each item. In addition to crafting, you also purchase potions from the Provisions Stockpile at any base camp for 66z each.How to use potions in Monster Hunter Wilds You have a couple of options that will allow you to heal and use potions while in the middle of combat. The first is the Optimal Heal option. Here is how to use the Optimal Heal to use potions and other healing items:Hold L1 to bring up the radial menu.As you continue to hold L1, push the right thumbstick to the left. This will navigate the cursor on the circular menu so that it highlights the option Optimal Health Recovery.Let go of the right control stick and your character will use the selected healing item, like a potion.If your character didnt heal, its possible you were interrupted. The radial menu doesnt pause gameplay so the fight continues in the background. If a monster attacks you as you are trying to heal, it doesnt work. Youll know the potion or other healing item worked when your character glows green and your green health bar increases.The Optimal Heal option on the radial menu appears to use the healing item that best corresponds with the amount of damage you need to heal. (Polygon tried to test this, but it ended up using regular potions each time, so we couldnt verify which conditions prompted the use of which items.)If you would like to select each healing item you use individually or use other healing items like a well-done steak (if youve cooked one), theres another way to do it. Here is how:Hold L1. This will bring up the radial menu, but you are actually going to ignore it. Instead, look toward the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.As you hold L1, press the Square or Circle buttons (on PS5) to scroll through items in your Item Pouch. As such, all you need to do to unlock the monster is progress through the main questline.Guardian Rathalos only roams around the Wyveria biome. It can usually be found around 1 and 2. Since Rathalos is flying monster, its likely to move, so keep an eye out on the map.Keep in mind that in Monster Hunter Wilds, tracking monsters isnt really a prominent feature. Except for a few first-time exceptions, you can use the Environment Overview screen to see if your target is roaming around the map. If not, exploring its corresponding biome(s) for a few minutes usually does the trick youll see a notification on screen announcing its appearance. Worst case scenario, you can speak to Alma and post a hunt for it. For better or worse, the process of finding a monster is much more streamlined now. If you find tracks or other monster residuals on the ground, you can loot them for materials.How to prepare for Guardian RathalosGuardian Rathalos is part of the main story of Monster Hunter Wilds. As such, its encounter is likely to fit your Hunter Rank at that corresponding moment. Since the encounter occurs during a main mission, youll be thrust into the fray after the introductory cutscene. As per usual, whenever youre asked if youre ready to depart, make sure that youre carrying regular and mega potions with you. If youre short on the latter, take a lap around the biome and loot any honey you come across.In addition, dont forget to eat you can use the portable BBQ to grill a meal. Increasing your health and stamina is essential, as Guardian Rathalos packs a punch. You can use ingredients like Wild Herb as finishing touches to boost your elemental resistance, which is helpful for dealing with Rathalos fire.For later encounters, carrying a few Thunder or Dragon Pods will be beneficial if either you or one of your teammates have a ranged weapon with Thunder or Dragon Ammo, even better. There are three main states to keep in consideration, which are usually combined with one another. The first is whenever the creature is on the ground, mostly using its body to attack.There are quite a few ways in which Rathalos try to hurt you without using fire. If it looks to a side, its about to do two tail swipes in a half circle. If youre directly in front of its mouth, it might try to bite you in a swift movement. Whenever youre spending too much time near the monsters wings and legs, itll fly upwards slightly and then do a ground slam with its feet. Also, if its mouth is actively on fire, it can also do two swipes in quick succession using its head trying to bite you.When flying, Guardian Rathalos has multiple attacks used to close the gap between it and your teammates. If it looks in your direction while retracting its body slightly and opening its legs, it means its about to fly toward you, hawk-style. It can also swipe its tail at you. It has different variations for flapping its wings rapidly and then following up with a ground slam. One is directly underneath it, and the other is a swipe of sorts thats almost a slide in roller skates, using its guardian capabilities.There are also quick flight bursts that Rathalos uses to reposition itself, which can deal damage if youre on the way. In general, whenever Guardian Rathalos is in the air, using pods or ammo with its corresponding weaknesses (Thunder and Dragon) is a must, especially on any visible wounds. If the flight is close enough to the ground and youre using, say, a Great Sword or another melee weapon with enough range, try to attack its wings to stun the monster to the ground.Last but not least, lets talk about fire. Early on in the fight, the dragon will indicate that its about to start using fire by letting a huge growl, which results in a gout of flame coming from its mouth. From this moment on, even if you stop seeing the flame, Rathalos can continue using fire at any moment.In terms of projectiles, Rathalos can spit fire at you if youre hanging around close to its body for too long. Alternatively, get too far away from it and itll attack from a distance, usually with two blasts. Theres another more deadly attack in which it flies upwards, moves its head to a side, and then proceeds to do a quick spin in place while letting out a fire breath in a circle underneath.Throughout the fight, its key to focus on weak points as much as possible. The Mouth is tricky, as youll be exposing yourself to either bites or fire, so you should only focus on it when Rathalos is either stunned on the ground or busy doing another animation. The Legs are an easier target, as youll likely be moving toward them during dodges. Dont underestimate the potential of damaging the Wings and its Tail either especially the latter if you manage to sever it and reduce its range.Alongside the usual wound control and dodging fire as much as possible, remember to use traps. The key is to try and get the monster to ground as often as possible to make it easier to attack. If its spending a long time in the air, set up a trap and bait it toward you. When you archive an email that you're reading, the Mail app automatically opens the next email in your inbox. Now, that's great if you're just going through newsletters. But when this happens, the next email is marked as read automatically, something you might not want to do in every case (like if the sender is using a tracking service, or if you were saving that email to read later). It's a small thing, but it takes some agency away from you, and that makes it quite annoying to deal with. Luckily, Apple seems to have finally realized this, and in iOS 18.4, which is currently in Developer beta, the company has provided a hidden settings option to change this behavior. Why Apple just doesn't just make the fix the default, and why this has to be an obscure settings item, is beyond me. Either way, if you're running iOS 18.4 use the Mail app regularly, go to the Settings app. Then, go to the Mail section and choose Delete or Move Message Action. Here, switch to the Don't Select a Message option.Boom. You're all set. Now, when you're reading a message in the Mail app and delete, archive, or move it, the app won't automatically open the next message, and instead you'll go back to the Inbox view. What a revolution! The drug was created to be a painkiller, but was also secretly designed to kill whoever takes it, three years after it's first taken. Lazarus are trying to find the creator of Hapna to create a vaccine that prevents the drug's negative side effects, and save the world in the process.Based on the trailer, the series' sci-fi setting, jazzy music (provided by Bonobo, Floating Points and Kamasi Washington) and shaggy-haired protagonist Axel all recall Watanabe's previous series Cowboy Bebop, but Lazarus looks like it'll have its own charms, too. New features include a repositioned navigation bar, an Explore tab, a floating player for Chrome and in a move that should catch Twitch's attention live game streaming in landscape orientation.Before Thursday's changes, TikTok's web app layout included a search bar and shortcuts running across the top of the screen alongside links down the left side. Now, all of them have been consolidated into the vertical navigation bar to the left. The idea is to reduce distractions for more immersive viewing as the platform moves to compete with the likes of YouTube and Twitch.Speaking of Twitch, TikTok now supports full-screen live game streaming in portrait and landscape modes. Before today, you could only do the latter using TikTok's Live Studio app. When you stream live in landscape, desktop users will see that view by default, while mobile users can rotate their devices to watch in widescreen (like everyone did before TikTok came along).Meanwhile, a floating player that keeps TikTok visible above your other windows is exclusive to Chrome for desktop.There's also a new Collections feature (similar to YouTube's playlists), where you can organize your favorite videos in custom categories, making it easier to return to them later.
