  • Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 and 4 remasters revealed, now with a shredding Doom Slayer
    www.polygon.com
After leaks, teases, and a very telling countdown (and even an amuse-bouche confirmation from Tony Hawk during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert), Activision made it official on Tuesday: Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 and 4, a remaster of the third and fourth games in the beloved skateboarding franchise, is coming this summer.Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 and 4 will be released on July 11, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Thats nearly five years after Vicarious Visions previous remasters of the first two THPS games landed on PC and previous-generation consoles. Studio Iron Galaxy is taking over development from Vicarious Visions for 3 and 4.Like the previous Tony Hawks Pro Skater remasters, 3 and 4 will offer online multiplayer and a massive visual upgrade over the originals. The remasters will also add new skaters including Rayssa Leal, Chloe Covell, Jamie Foy, Zion Wright, Nyjah Huston, and Yuto Horigome and new parks. In an announcement trailer, Activision showed off classic levels like Airport, Foundry, Rio, Tokyo, Canada, San Francisco, and Los Angeles the latter of which has been updated with an homage to the citys infamous Oceanwide Plaza.Classic skaters will be playable too, of course. Activision has confirmed Tony Hawk, Bucky Lasek, Steve Caballero, Kareem Campbell, Geoff Rowley, Andrew Reynolds, Elissa Steamer, Chad Muska, Eric Koston, Rodney Mullen, Jamie Thomas, Rune Glifberg, and Bob Burnquist for the playable roster. Skater Bam Margera, who appeared in the original versions of Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 and 4, was not listed as part of the project. A digital deluxe version of the game will offer two more skaters: the Doom Slayer and Revenant from id Softwares Doom franchise. At least some of the original games soundtrack appears to be intact. Confirmed songs include Ace of Spades by Motorhead, Amoeba by Adolescents, Mass Appeal by Gang Starr, 96 Quite Bitter Beings by CKY, Not the Same by Bodyjar, and Outta Here by KRS-One.The announcement of Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 and 4 was heralded by Hawk himself in 2024. In an interview, Hawk said that hed been working with Activision again on something that was insanely exciting which Pro Skater fans will truly appreciate. Two years prior, Hawk had cast doubt on the possibility of a 3 and 4 remaster, citing the absorption of Vicarious Visions into Blizzard Entertainment and Activision going through all their stuff meaning Microsofts then-planned acquisition of Activision Blizzard.Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 was originally released in 2001 for Nintendo GameCube and PlayStation 2. (A version was also released for Game Boy Color.) THPS 3 introduced the revert trick to the Pro Skater series, further extending combos. The revert from 3 was added to 2020s Tony Hawks Pro Skater 1 and 2. THPS 3 is also notable for being the first PS2 game with online multiplayer support and for introducing more interactive levels to the Pro Skater series, including a level based on Los Angeles that changes as the result of an earthquake.Tony Hawks Pro Skater 4 followed the third game in 2002. The game did away with the time limit structure of past Pro Skater games, and introduced the spine transfer for skating on quarter-pipes and allowed skitching or hitching a ride by holding onto a car or truck. That feature is shown briefly in the reveal trailer for Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 and 4. Activision is incentivizing pre-orders for Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 and 4 by offering access to a demo (available on all platforms except Switch) in June and the Wireframe Tony shader at launch. Pre-orders of the Digital Deluxe and Collectors Editions will offer early access to the full game three days early, beginning on July 8.

  • Where to find gravid bowfins in Monster Hunter Wilds
    www.polygon.com
Gravid bowfins are a kind of aquatic life in Monster Hunter Wilds.Youll need to fish for them as part of a side quest, Fishing for Flavor, for Kanya at the Scarlet Forest base camp. This is the third of her side missions after catching your first fish and a then a goldenfish. Our Monster Hunter Wilds guide will tell you where to find gravid bowfins and how to catch them.Where to find gravid bowfins in Monster Hunter WildsIf youre really lucky, a gravid bowfin will spawn right in the pond where Kanya is fishing and you wont have to travel at all.Gravid bowfins can (hypothetically) be found in every region. Its just a question of whether or not they spawn when youre there. They seem to be most common in the evening (and setting the environment to plenty never hurts). Here are some waypoints:In the Windswept Plains, check the oasis in Area 13In the Scarlet Forest, head to the deep water near the waterfall between Areas 12 and 13The Aquatic Life menu says that gravid bowfin can be found in Oilwell Basin, but if theyre there, we havent found them yet (or any other fish for that matter)In the Iceshard Cliffs, Reddit users report success in the deep pool just north of the Area 1: Icy Shore pop-up camp (but we did not have any luck there)In the Ruins of Wyveria, head into the tunnel on the west side of Area 8 to find the Area 8: Gap in Rubble pop-up camp and its fishing holeIf you dont luck out in Windswept Plains or Scarlet Forest, we recommend heading to the Area 8: Gap in Rubble in the Ruins of Wyveria. We found several there on our first visit. Just be prepared to fish your way through every other (greedy) fish first. How to catch a gravid bowfin in Monster Hunter WildsGravid bowfins go for the emerald jiggerbait, but theyre a little finicky about it they only go for the lure when its moving. When you spot a gravid bowfin, cast your lure past where theyll be and start reeling it in slowly by moving the left thumbstick up and down. You can pause your reeling occasionally and mix in a jerk by pressing down on the left thumbstick. Just keep reeling slowly even as the bowfin takes an interest in the lure.To also help you understand Monster Hunter Wilds, we explain how to capture monsters, how to change weapons, provide some Seikret tips, and teach you how layered armor works.

  • ENESS Creates Inflatable Forest Dancer Exhibition That Evokes Happiness
    design-milk.com
Dubais Quoz Arts Festival witnessed an extraordinary artistic intervention as ENESS, the acclaimed Melbourne-based art and design studio, transformed the faade of the Concrete building with a monumental illuminated installation made of inflatables. As part of the Forest Dancer exhibition an extension of FRAME Awards Exhibition of the Year 2024, Modern Guru and the Path to Artificial Happiness the 29.5-foot-tall archway captivated audiences, happily merging art with architecture. This ephemeral yet striking transformation reimagined the renowned venue, originally designed by Rem Koolhaass OMA, through a series of interconnected, soft-edged arches. These oversized forms played with scale and perspective, their fleshy, organic curves appearing both solid and transient. The result was a thought-provoking dialogue between the built environment and the temporary nature of artistic expression. As visitors moved through the cascading arches, they encountered intricate material details, including a pixelated motif embedded with oversized floral prints in an 8-bit aesthetic. This fusion of digital and tactile elements reflected ENESSs innovative approach to creating immersive experiences that challenge traditional perceptions of space and design. Our work extends beyond galleries and museums; it integrates into the fabric of everyday life, says ENESS founder Nimrod Weis. By engaging directly with the existing architecture, we craft pieces that converse with their surroundings while standing as independent artworks. At the heart of the broader Forest Dancer exhibition stood a towering 26-foot-tall figure, serving as an emblem of connection and play. The installations within the exhibition, including Whispering Mountains and Stick Insects, fostered interaction, encouraging visitors to engage with art in ways that sparked creativity and connection among strangers, friends, and families alike. One of the most enchanting aspects of the exhibition was the skirt-like dome enveloping an interactive space where visitors could recline on LED-eyed beanbags, immersed in an ever-shifting landscape of light and sound. This sensory haven encouraged introspection and a respite from the digital noise that dominates contemporary life.Spanning over 6,458 square feet, the exhibition showcases the crucial role of creativity in countering societal challenges, from the isolating effects of technology to global tensions. By situating art as a vehicle for human connection and contemplation, ENESS delivered a compelling statement on the necessity of shared experiences in todays world. The Quoz Arts Festival, a vibrant annual event set in Alserkal Avenues artistic district, served as the perfect backdrop for this vibrant installation. With Forest Dancer as its centerpiece, ENESS reinforced the power of public art to inspire and unite communities, urging audiences to embrace creative expression in their own lives.Following its success in Dubai, Forest Dancer and its accompanying exhibition Modern Guru and the Path to Artificial Happiness continue to traverse the globe, bringing their dynamic fusion of art, light, and interactivity to audiences in multiple countries. For more information on ENESS, visit eness.com.Photography by Ismail Noor, Seeing Things Studio.

  • Everything We Think We Know About iOS 19
    lifehacker.com
With iOS 19 expected to be unveiled in June 2025 at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), rumors about its features have been coming in fast. Although none of these rumors can be confirmed at the moment, they still give us a good idea about what Apple might be considering behind the scenes. Since AI is the flavor of the month, Apple Intelligence improvements are expected for iOS 19, but the camera app might also be getting some attention. Here's everything that's been leaked so far.The merging of Siri and Apple IntelligenceAccording to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple plans to merge Siri with Apple Intelligence sometime during the iOS 19 patch cycle. Yes, the assistant is currently listed as being part of Apple Intelligence, but behind the scenes, it's supposedly got a new LLM in the works that would unify its currently split architecture and allow it to more frequently handle complex requests. As of now, its AI features are much more limited, and most of Siri doesn't use AI at all.Gurman says he expects the merger to be completed by spring of 2026 with the launch of iOS 19.4. His report states that, originally, Apple's plan was to launch a more conversational Siri in the same update, but that's been delayed and is not expected to be unveiled at WWDC 2025.Gurman also indicates that because Apple has not yet completed last year's Apple Intelligence feature rollout, any as yet unannounced features shouldn't be expected for a while.A Camera app redesignAbout a month ago, YouTuber FrontPageTech revealed a leaked redesign of the iPhone's Camera app. He claimed to have seen a video of the rumored redesign and recreated it for a video. The render primarily focuses on the control system. Instead of swiping left or right to switch between camera modes, this leak indicates that we may see just two options when we open the appphotos and videos. Swiping switches between them, while tapping reveals more options such as panorama or spatial videos. You can also see a slightly larger viewfinder in the render, but all of this should be taken with a pinch of salt. Even if the sources are credible and the information accurate (other leakers have doubted FrontPageTech before), a lot can change between now and release. Features get shifted around all the time during development, and you can expect some of that with iOS 19 as well.No major UI changesThe FrontPageTech leak also suggests that Apple won't be making other major UI changes in iOS 19. With iOS 18's development not yet complete despite WWDC 2025 being right around the corner, I do have to agree that looks unlikely that big UI changes would follow so soon.Your iPhone will (probably) run iOS 19With no major UI redesign expected, there's no reason for Apple to axe more phones from the iOS 19 update lineup. Citing a source within Apple, French website iPhoneSoft.fr reports that any phone that runs iOS 18 should be compatible with iOS 19 as well. However, the iPad 7 will supposedly not be so lucky, as the website says it will not be included in the iPadOS 19 update.

  • This Massive Data Breach Compromised 3.3 Million People's Information
    lifehacker.com
A handful of major data breaches that occurred in 2024 have already come to light in the last few months (including the PowerSchool and Community Health Center incidents), the latest of which affected a major employment screening and background check service and compromised information from more than 3.3 million people. DISA Global Solutions provides background checks for more than 55,000 employers across the country, and its systems were compromised for more than two months last year. What happened with DISA?According to the company's filing with the Maine attorney general's office, hackers accessed DISA's system between Feb. 9, 2024 and April 22, 2024 (when the breach was discovered) and stole the data of 3,332,750 individualsIn its letter notifying consumers of the breach, DISA did not provide specifics as to what was stolen, noting simply that the hackers "procured some information." However, an additional filing located by TechCrunch indicated that the breach included Social Security numbers, medical records, financial account information, credit and debit card numbers, and other government-issued documents. In conducting background checks, DISA collects a wide range of consumer data, including credit, education, and employment histories; driving records; drug tests; references from employers and landlords; and criminal and civil legal filings. What you can do if your data was stolenThe best you can do after a data breach is to pay attention to your personal accounts, follow basic security best practicessuch as being especially vigilant with suspicious communication that might be a phishing attemptand lock down as much as possible to prevent any further damage being done with your information. If you haven't already, you should take steps like freezing your credit and placing a fraud alert to prevent anyone from taking on debt in your name, as well as considering identity protection services that can notify you of anything suspicious. You can also set up protections for your SSN so no one can take on employment or file taxes fraudulently. As of Feb. 21, DISA is notifying consumers affected by the breach and offering a 12-month membership to Experian's IdentityWorks identity monitoring service. To enroll, go to the IdentityWorks website and enter the activation code in your notice. You must sign up by June 30, 2025.

  • Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 arrives on July 11
    www.engadget.com
After weeks of teasers from Activision and Tony Hawk, the video game publisher has officially announced that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 will be available on July 11. Iron Galaxy Studios remade the old skateboarding games from the ground up to create an updated version of the classics. The remake includes the original games' content, along with cross-platform online multiplayer for up to eight skaters. Activision says it picks up from where Tony Hawks Pro Skater 1 + 2 left off, but it didn't mention whether the new title would also come with local multiplayer like its predecessor does. The new game was developed by a different studio than the one that remade the first two games even though Tony Hawks Pro Skater 1 + 2 was pretty well-received. Hawk previously revealed that Vicarious Visions, the studio that developed the first remake, was supposed to work on the third and fourth installments, as well. However, that plan was scrapped after the studio got absorbed into Blizzard. The new game will feature new skaters, tricks and brand-new parks. Its skater selection will include legends in the sport though Bam Margera was notably absent in the roster we were given as well as newer names, like two-time Olympics champion Yuto Horigome.Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 will be available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. For the PC, it can be purchased through Steam, Battle.net and Microsoft Store. Finally, Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers will be able to play it at launch through the game streaming service. Pre-orders will be available starting today, and those who do purchase in advance will be able to access the Foundry Demo in June. Those willing to pay extra and pre-order the Digital Deluxe and Collector's Editions will be able to access the game earlier on July 8. The Digital Deluxe Edition comes with extra content, while the Collector's Edition comes with a full-size Birdhouse skateboard deck and a printed Tony Hawk autograph. This article originally appeared on Engadget at https://www.engadget.com/gaming/tony-hawks-pro-skater-3--4-arrives-on-july-11-180029571.html?src=rss

  • How and where to buy refurbished tech online
    www.engadget.com
Theres no denying the allure of shiny new tech (I mean, have you seen the smartphone images Engadgets Sam Rutherford takes?). But the latest model isnt always necessary for every purchase you make. Buying refurbished is obviously easier on your wallet sometimes saving you hundreds of dollars over buying new. Its also far easier on the environment, since the majority of a devices environmental impact happens in the manufacturing process. Plus, buying refurbished is more efficient than recycling electronics and keeps a device out of the e-waste stream for a little longer.Theres no regulation for what constitutes refurbished tech, but its often a level or two above used items youd buy off a guy on the street. Refurbished usually means the device has undergone some combination of testing, cleaning and repair often all three and it should perform as if it were new, with only minor scuffs to indicate its past life. But some outlets arent as trustworthy as others when it comes to refurbished options. We have a few recommendations for places to find refurbished tech that all have documented processes for how they handle the process. We also point out what to look for when youre shopping for such tech, so you get something as close to new as possible. What to consider when buying refurbished devices Refurbished vs used Refurbished is not the same as used. Used items tend to be sold as-is,'' which means youre simply inheriting whatever mileage and quirks a device had when the previous owner said goodbye to it. Its true that most refurbished items were previously owned, and many are a result of the growing trend of trading in your old device when you upgrade. But others were hardly used at all and are one of the millions of returns generated each year. Either way, a properly refurbished item has undergone testing to verify that it works, along with cleaning, repairs and parts replacement as needed. Since there are no government regulations for renewed items, its up to the sellers to define what steps they take to ready a device for sale. And its up to the buyer to find out what those steps are before taking the plunge. The processes for refurbishing devices from Apple, Bose, Microsoft, Google Pixels and Samsung, for example, include cleaning, inspection, parts replacement as needed and shipment in a new box with the originally supplied accessories. They also all provide a one-year warranty. Warranties and returns A refurbished device should perform as well as its new counterpart, but the only way to guarantee thats the case is to make sure it comes with a warranty. All of the sites we recommend below include a warranty with the products they sell. If you see something labeled as refurbished, but doesnt include some sort of guarantee as to its reliability shop elsewhere. Also, a good return policy will let you send the item back (preferably with the same free shipping a new item gets) for any reason including that you just changed your mind. That way if a refurbished product doesnt look as good as you thought it would, you can send it back without having to prove theres something wrong with it. Sanitation Most refurbished tech was used before it made its way back on the market. And while renewed items are cleaned, youll still need to consider your comfort with sanitation issues when buying things like headphones and earbuds. Polina Lebed via Getty Images Where to buy refurbished tech We recommend going directly to the manufacturer whenever possible, especially for more technical items like smartphones and laptops. If you need a new MacBook, check out Apples refurbished stock first; if you want a new Galaxy phone, hit up Samsung before anyone else. Repairs will be handled using genuine parts and youre far more likely to get items that were properly unpaired from the original owner and all data wiped. Retailers like Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy are decent options if youre on a tighter budget or if youre looking for gadgets from a manufacturer that may not have its own refurbished outlet. Refurbished marketplaces like BackMarket can be useful if youre looking for older, more specific items, or if price is the number one factor for your purchase. Other retailers Some smaller manufacturers like Dyson, Vitamix, Nintendo and JBL offer their own refurbished products, but for many other brands, you may need to head to a retailer.
