• RoboCop: Rogue City Unfinished Business Revealed, Standalone Expansion Launches Q3 2025
    gamingbolt.com
During the latest Nacon Connect, Teyon revealed a standalone extension for RoboCop: Rogue City called Unfinished Business. Launching in Q3 2025, it sees RoboCop venturing into OmniTower to deal with some mercenaries taking up unlawful residence. Check out the trailer below. While Murphy is over-equipped for your average thugs, OmniTowers enemies are no pushovers. Some boast extensive armor and miniguns, while others have jet packs and katanas. You also have to destroy turrets, drones, and self-destructing bots. Even the ED-209 returns for an encore.Fortunately, Murphy has some new tools to help, including the Cryo Cannon. Aside from OmniTower, Unfinished Business includes missions where youll control Murphy before his transformation. Its a different vibe since hes much more vulnerable, but it should provide another dimension to the character (especially with actor Peter Weller returning).RoboCop: Rogue City Unfinished Business will be available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, so stay tuned for more details. Check out our review for the base game in the meantime.

  • FCC chair says we’re too dependent on GPS and wants to explore ‘alternatives’
    www.theverge.com
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) plans to vote on an inquiry to explore alternatives to GPS, FCC chair Brendan Carr says in a blog post.Carr says that while GPS has been indispensable, the technology isnt infallible and that disruptions to GPS have the potential to undermine the nations economic and national security. Carr says that we need to develop redundant technologies, which is why the FCC will vote on an inquiry to explore other Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) systems that can serve as complements or alternatives to GPS.In addition to GPS, Carr also says the commission will vote on two proposals regarding 911 technology. One is a proposal to update our existing rules to ensure the resiliency, reliability, interoperability, and accessibility of Next Generation 911, or NG911, which is internet-connected emergency tech that will eventually replace legacy 911 systems.Another is a proposal to strengthen our 911 location accuracy rules to potentially improve the information first responders receive about a persons location, including the ability to more accurately find callers on specific floors in buildings. The issues are tentatively on the agenda for the FCCs open meeting on March 27th.

  • AI Solutions Are Creating Artificial Needs
    towardsai.net
Author(s): Sophia Banton Originally published on Towards AI. AI Solutions Are Creating Artificial NeedsAI should clear your desk, not clutter it with artificial needs. Was that task truly repetitive, or was it labeled as boring to justify automation?A need is something people genuinely require to make their lives easier, solve a real problem, or improve their daily activities. An artificial need is something people are made to believe they require, even though it doesnt genuinely improve their well-being or solve a real problem. By creating tools that dont address actual issues but rather create the illusion of necessity, the AI industry has fallen into the trap of fostering artificial needs.Make no mistake, AI can certainly address many genuine needs across workplaces streamlining data analysis, enabling better customer service, and automating truly repetitive tasks. AI can also play a crucial role in specialized fields like medical diagnostics, fraud detection, and scientific research. However, many consumer and enterprise AI companies have fallen into the trap of creating artificial needs. For example, do we need email summaries when we were already just skimming our emails? Skimming allowed us to judge what required deeper reading. Are we giving up our ability to think critically just to maybe save time, or are we creating a workforce that depends on AI for tasks people can easily do themselves? Ultimately, are we solving real-world problems, or just creating digital distractions?A Case in PointNearly every professional creates PowerPoint slides at some point in their career. This opens the door for enterprise solutions that promise to improve daily workflows. But these solutions havent been delivering on their promises to enhance productivity and efficiency.Take Microsoft Copilot in the enterprise, an all-in-one solution. It claims to revolutionize how we work, yet it struggles with basic tasks like image generation, leading professionals to frustrating workarounds, such as resorting to traditional image searches or using separate image generation tools, ultimately negating the supposed efficiency gains of Copilot.Time Comparison for Getting an Image for a PresentationGoogle/Creative Commons search: ~2 minutesDedicated image generator: ~5 minutesFumbling with Copilot: Indefinite time + eventual workaroundThis raises the question: How often do we actually need unique images? The answer for most business users is rarely. Yet, were paying premium prices for AI solutions that complicate simple workflows. The need for AI-generated images in presentations was never a significant pain point for most users, yet its being presented as a must-have feature. In other words, AI tools are being marketed for tasks that were never actual pain points. The disadvantages of these all-in-one AI platforms are mounting:Clunky interfaces trying to do everything but excelling at very littleRestrictive enterprise policies limiting functionalityLimited transparency about the underlying technology that powers these solutionsSubscription costs that far exceed the value delivered thus farThe question on the table: are we embracing AI because it genuinely solves problems, or because weve been convinced by tech companies that we need it?The True Costs of Irresponsible AI AdoptionThese challenges point to a deeper problem. Beyond the immediate frustrations and inefficiencies created by artificial needs, theres a more significant long-term consequence for organizations investing in these solutions. The greatest cost of AI being marketed for invisible problems isnt the price companies pay. Rather, it is the erosion of trust in AI tools among employees.Employees already encounter AI in their personal lives through tools like ChatGPT, where they experience its limitations firsthand and develop justified skepticism. When workplace AI then falls short of marketing promises, they quietly revert to familiar workflows, creating wasted investment and failed digital transformation efforts. This creates a twofold challenge for adoption where its genuinely needed: distrust in AI capabilities and frustration with AI outcomes. When employees keep using AI tools that overpromise and underdeliver, they lose trust in AI even when it could actually help.AI Leadership Must Prioritize Real ValueAs Jimmy Carter once said, We must adjust to changing times and still hold to unchanging principles. In the AI era, that unchanging principle is that we should build technology that solves real-world problems. AI excels when it optimizes data analysis, enhances customer support, and advances fields like clinical diagnostics and anomaly detection areas where it solves real problems instead of creating artificial needs. It has the potential to open new doors to opportunity when applied with genuine purpose. For AI to fulfill its promise of expanding opportunity, AI leaders must do more than build AI they must prioritize solving real problems and driving meaningful progress. AI leadership requires building tools that deliver meaningful value, not digital distractions. Before your next AI investment, challenge vendors to prove theyre solving a problem your team actually has not one theyve invented to sell a solution. Remember: A tool without purpose becomes noise.About the AuthorSophia Banton is an AI Solution Lead specializing in Responsible AI governance, workplace AI adoption, and AI strategy in IT. This is very close to the lowest price we've ever seen; it dropped to $249 for less than 24 hours during Black Friday before it sold out. • Where to Stream Anime Online in 2025
    www.ign.com
With so many different streaming services available, there are a lot of different places to watch movies and TV shows online. The sheer amount of options can make it difficult to find exactly what you're looking for, especially for anime with some major titles split up between multiple services. If you're wondering where you can watch anime online in 2025, we've gathered some of the best sites and apps below. While some streaming services offer a full suite of options, others have only a smaller selection. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to watch the best anime online across various subscriptions, and some are super cheap or even free.CrunchyrollBest Anime Streaming Service OverallIf you're looking for the absolute best overall streaming service, Crunchyroll is the way to go. With an enormous catalog of anime movies and series, the anime-focused streaming service is your best bet if you're looking for a lot of options. They also offer new episodes of many popular anime series shortly after they air in Japan. Whether you're looking to watch the classics or watch new episodes of anime like Demon Slayer, Crunchyroll can provide that with a subscription.Crunchyroll has three different tiers of their service that all offer streaming their full anime library without ads. They also offer a 14-day free trial for newcomers to test out the service, but the cheapest plan starts out at $7.99 a month after that. A Hulu subscription can get you access to a huge variety of movies, shows, and anime all at once. While the service doesn't have quite the depth you'd get with Crunchyroll, they do offer popular anime series (both subbed and dubbed) like Dragon Ball, Attack on Titan, and Naruto. They also have the latest episodes of Spy x Family and Chainsaw Man if you're looking for something fresh. You can check out the full catalog of anime on Hulu for more details about what the service can offer. They have One Piece, Hunter x Hunter, Demon Slayer, and even a few Pokemon movies. However, the real draw of Netflix for anime fans is that they have originals that are actually pretty good. There are some great original films like Bubble as well as video game adaptations like Tekken: Bloodline. You can check out our guide to the best anime on Netflix for our top picks.Although Netflix is currently going through some changes in it's subscription system, the ad-supported plan is currently $7.99 a month. That being said, Max does have all of the Studio Ghibli movies available to stream, making them worthy of note on this list. Whether you're looking to rewatch Princess Mononoke or dive back into Howl's Moving Castle, they are all available on Max.Max has three different tiers of their subscription service starting at $9.99 for their ad-supported option.Anime Recommendations on Max: The Boy and the Heron See it at MaxSpirited AwaySee it at MaxSuicide Squad Isekai See it at MaxUzumakiSee it at MaxAnime Streaming Sites FAQWhat are the best sites to watch anime for free? Aside from Tubi and the limited selection of free anime on Crunchyroll, there's a few more sites where you can stream anime for free. RetroCrush offers a wide selection of "vintage" anime and cartoons, including the original Astro Boy, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and City Hunter series. Sling TV's FreeStream program also includes several anime channels with on demand series like Fruits Basket, Maid-Sama, and Ghost Stories. How can I watch anime live in the U.S.?Most anime airs live in Japan before becoming available to stream in the United States. Crunchyroll's licensing deals allow the service to stream new episodes typically within a day of their original airtime, which is part of the reason why its the best streaming service for anime overall. With a couple of exceptions for exclusives, even anime that eventually comes to Netflix or Hulu typically arrives on Crunchyroll way beforehand. If there's a new episode or special coming up that you really want to watch live, you'll most likely have to sign up for a VPN to get access to local Japanese channels like FujiTV. • This Luxury Realtor Planned Her House Around a 17-Foot-Long Sofa
    www.housebeautiful.com
A 17-foot sofa tells you a lot about a person. In this case, what its saying is that Dawn McKenna, a Chicago-based real estate advisor who installed one in her Naples, Florida, house, loves to host a party. I wanted to fit 10 people comfortably, she says. The vintage sectional, now covered in crowd-friendly white performance fabric, did the trick. Her waterfront 1990s ranch house owes its new feminine, more-is-more look to designer Kelly Hurliman, a former stylist for Oprah who clearly has a knack for knowing what boss ladies want. Together they threw resale value caution to the wind and lacquered the front doors pink, gave the kitchen an island so big youd need a Swiffer to clean it, and installed a massive pink marble bar in the living room. McKenna didnt waste any time breaking the place in. Days after the final install, she and her husband hosted a pre-wedding celebration for their son and his fiance with 100-plus guests, a DJ, silver balls in the pool, and a taco bar. • Developers behind Tweetbot and Ivory now working on a Bluesky app
    9to5mac.com
If youre a heavy Mastodon user (or were a Twitter user back in the good old days), youre probably familiar with Tapbots the company behind the popular Ivory and Tweetbot apps. The developers now have some good news to share with Bluesky users, as they announced this week that theyve been working on a new app for the platform.New Bluesky app Phoenix coming soon to the App StoreCalled Phoenix, the app will essentially be a Tweetbot or Ivory for Bluesky. The announcement was confirmed through a new page on the official Tapbots website. Unfortunately, there arent many details about the app for now, but presumably it will look just like its sister apps. After Twitter (now X) discontinued its API for third-party apps, Tweetbot was shut down. As a result, Tapbots created Ivory for those who wanted to have the same Tweetbot experience when using Mastodon. The developers note that they have no plans to abandon Ivory, but that their user base is now split between Mastodon and Bluesky.Mastodon is our home on the social web and we will continue to invest our time there. Since the incredible growth of Bluesky in the past year, our customer base has become split between the two services and for us to continue to thrive as a company, we must support both. Unfortunately, we cant survive on Mastodon alone, says a note on the Tapbots website. While some users wanted a single app that supported both Mastodon and Bluesky, developers claim that keeping them separate will be better for the experience. They also say that users shouldnt worry about the development of new features for Ivory. It would be a lie if we said Ivory would be in full development while we are trying to get Phoenix up and running. However, we did not want to start Phoenix development until after we released Ivory v2.3. Once Phoenix is out the door, development will happen concurrently and both apps will get all the huge improvements we have planned throughout the apps.Phoenix for Bluesky will be released this summer, with a limited public beta coming soon. In the meantime, you can try Ivory for Mastodon its available on the App Store and costs $1.99 per month.Add 9to5Mac to your Google News feed. FTC: We use income earning auto affiliate links.
