Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez are bringing 80 private jets and 30 water taxis to their three-day extravaganza. Because nothing says "I love you" quite like clogging up the skies and waterways of an ancient city, right?

While locals are probably just thrilled to have their serene gondola rides interrupted by a fleet of luxury taxis, let’s not forget that love truly conquers all—even the delicate balance of Venice’s ecosystem. Here’s to a wedding that’s sure to make waves… quite literally!

  • Love, Death & Robots Is A Love Letter To Sci-Fi, Animation, and Adaptation

Netflix has no shortage of options when it comes to science fiction programming and experimental anthology series, but Love, Death + Robots is an especially beautiful love letter to science fiction’s chameleonic nature and endless versatility. The unpredictable animated anthology series combines sci-fi with comedy, horror, fantasy, mystery, and romance as it brings gripping genre literature to life through a modern lens. In doing so, Love, Death + Robots doesn’t just celebrate science fiction; it helps it evolve.
Sci-fi is a revelatory storytelling genre that can open the audience’s mind and forever change their perception of reality. The best of it probes, inspires, and admonishes, which is exactly what Tim Millerand Jennifer Yuh Nelsonstrive for in Love, Death + Robots, now in its fourth season. Nothing is off-limits in the series, whether it’s a cat-fueled dystopia, gladiatorial combat atop dinosaurs, or a poet’s feud with Satan. The show aims to create the same level of jubilation in its viewers as those who discovered these short stories for the first time.

Pretty much all the vignettes have been based on short stories that Tim’s read throughout his life,” explains Nelson, Love, Death + Robots’ supervising director. “We have hundreds of these stories just piled up.”
There’s a true passion for the source material that helps Love, Death + Robots excel. This enormous collection of genre classics gets carefully selected as each new season takes shape.

“We try to curate the perfect mix. So we have a little something for everybody,” creator Miller elaborates. This has been one of the secrets to Love, Death + Robots’ success. Each collection of episodes is truly unique and feels like a pulpy paperback of short stories. In fact, Love, Death + Robots has even published collections of each season’s stories. “All the money goes to the authors,” Miller proudly adds. “We want people to read the stories! Forget about making them into movies.”
Love, Death + Robots has resonated with science fiction fans who appreciate captivating and concise storytelling. That being said, Love, Death + Robots is also a visual extravaganza that pushes just as many boundaries in animation. Four seasons in, the series
“Often, we choose the director and the animation studio according to their specialty,” Nelson explains as she continues to break down the meticulous nature of this process. “If we have two tentpole episodes that look a certain way, then we want to make sure that those episodes are going to look vastly different from each other.” For instance, Titmouse’s impressionistic work on Volume IV’s “How Zeke Got Religion” actively enhances the story. “You need to find their thing,” Nelson adds in reference to Love, Death + Robots’ roster of animation studios and what they each bring to the table.
“It’s important for us, especially for this series, to make sure that we’re really showcasing the whole breadth of animation,” asserts Nelson. “Sometimes these directors are very much pioneers in what they do, and no one else is doing what they do. That’s why we end up working with them.” Photo-realistic 3D animation, stop-motion, traditional 2D visuals, and stop-motion are just some of the animation styles on display in Love, Death + Robots. The series has even increasingly dipped its toe into live-action stories that blur the lines between reality and animation. “Rarely do you see such a showcase of animation like this,” Nelson says. “This is a way to show new ideas, new looks, and new innovation by different directors and studios around the world.”
Miller reiterates that it’s a deeply collaborative process where the animation studios have just as much agency as the storytellers.
“We push it in the initial direction, and then the directors come in and do their pitch.” The final product becomes a synthesis of ideas that are built upon ambition and taking risks. “We try to give them as much freedom as we can,” Miller emphasizes. This relationship has paid off well, earning the animated series 13 Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Short Form Animated Program and Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation. The series’ latest batch of episodes is likely to add to this already impressive collection of accolades.

Love, Death + Robots’ 45 episodes provide a broad, brave mix of everything that science fiction and animation have to offer. However, the series continues to look forward and is determined to surpass these heights. “We’ve got a lot of stories,” boasts Miller. “I have the next season—seasons, actually—picked out.” And while there were previously spin-offs and off-shoots in consideration, Love, Death + Robots is the perfect incubator for these stories, whether they’re two minutes or 20 minutes. “The beauty of the show is that we’d never get some of these ideas made if we were asking to do a feature,” admits Miller.

Love, Death + Robots plays by its own rules and continues to redefine anthology storytelling. It’s still the only series where fans can alternate between a string puppet rock concert and Russian Civil War soldiers fighting ancient supernatural evils.
“There’s still a lot of room to do new and innovative things that we haven’t done before,” Miller insists. “Although we always seem to end up with too many cat stories. I can’t really explain that.”

  • Summer Game Fest 2025: What new game announcements to expect and how to watch

As if early June wasn't already going to be a wild enough time in the gaming world with the arrival of the Nintendo Switch 2, that's also when a whole host of showcases takes place as part of Summer Game Fest. Along with the two blockbuster events — Summer Game Fest Live and the Xbox Games Showcase — there are a bunch of other ones in store, including the always-delightful Day of the Devs.
There could be even more on the docket. There's always a chance that Nintendo and Sony will run a Direct or State of Play, respectively, over the next few weeks. Ubisoft hasn't yet announced a Forward event for this year — perhaps because it has delayed a bunch of big games and isn't ready to talk about them.
As things stand, SGF is slated to run from June 6 until June 8. With E3 officially dead, SGF is now the de facto replacement and the biggest event for announcements and updates this side of Gamescom in August.
We'll update this preview as more details about the showcases emerge, including additional events in the SGF nebula. We'll embed videos for each stream as they become available as well.
Engadget will be on the ground in Los Angeles for the in-person side of SGF, which is for media and creators. We'll be bringing you hands-on impressions of many of the games that are featured during SGF Live.
Most folks will be keeping up with everything from home, though. To that end, here's a breakdown of how to watch Summer Game Fest 2025 and what to expect from the extravaganza.
    Summer Game Fest 2024 schedule

Summer Game Fest Live — June 6, 5PM ET
Day of the Devs — June 6, 7PM ET
    Devolver Direct — June 6, 8PM ET
    Wholesome Direct — June 7, 12PM ET
    Women-led Games Showcase — June 7, 1PM ET
Latin American Games Showcase — June 7, 2PM ET
Green Games Showcase — June 7, 4PM ET
Xbox Games Showcase — June 8, 1PM ET
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach Live Game Premiere — June 8, 10PM ET

How to watch Summer Game Fest Live — June 6, 5PM ET
    Watch on YouTube or Twitch
Putting aside our annoyance at the timing of this showcase — late on a Friday evening in the UK and right when many folks on the East Coast are clocking out for the weekend — Summer Game Fest Live is one of the bigger events in early June. It starts at 5PM ET and will run for two hours.
Organizers are promising "spectacular new video game announcements, surprises and reveals." That's pretty compelling, especially since host Geoff Keighleydownplayed expectations ahead of last year's show.
We do know about a few games that will appear. SGF Live will include a fresh look at Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, a Soulslike action RPG from Leenzee, a studio based in China. That game will arrive in July. Open-world MMORPG Chrono Odyssey will make an appearance as well.
Oh, and Hideo Kojima will be there, of course. SGF Live takes place just a couple of weeks before Kojima's Death Stranding 2: On the Beach arrives, so we'll likely get another peek at that game before a more in-depth event on June 8. Perhaps some of the other projects Kojima's working on will get some time in the limelight too.
We’re proud to welcome a record-setting 60+ partners for #SummerGameFest 2025, a global celebration of video games in Los Angeles this June. pic.twitter.com/1TZkEbKlHt— Geoff KeighleyMay 28, 2025

Keighley has also released an initial list of partners for SGF. It includes big names such as PlayStation, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox, Steam, 2K, Epic Games and Square Enix. On the list is IO Interactive, so perhaps we'll get more information about the James Bond game that the Hitman studio has been working on for several years.
Embark Studios is there as well, and given that there's a lot of hype around its upcoming extraction shooter, Arc Raiders, there'll be high hopes for a release date for that one. On top of that, CD Projekt Red will be at SGF, but it's more likely to be promoting Cyberpunk 2077's arrival on the Nintendo Switch 2 than shining a spotlight on The Witcher 4 .
You can watch SGF Live on more than 20 platforms, including YouTube, Twitch, X, TikTok, Steam and international services. The event will stream live from the YouTube Theater, and you can attend in person, if you like.
In any case, we'll be bringing you all the major news from Summer Game Fest Live. We just can't promise we won't have an adult beverage with an umbrella next to us while we're covering the event.

How to watch Day of the Devs — June 6, 7PM ET
    Watch on YouTubeor Twitch
Immediately after SGF Live ends, the YouTube and Twitch streams will segue into the summer 2025 edition of Day of the Devs. This indie-focused showcase invariably has a fantastic lineup of games worth keeping an eye on.
Among the games making appearances are Possessorfrom Heart Machine and "nightmarish RPG" Neverway from Coldblood and co-publisher Outersloth. We'll also see something from House House— presumably the co-op "walker-talker" Big Walk that was revealed in 2023. In all, Day of the Devs will feature 20 games.
Last year's show included 2024 gameof the year contender UFO 50, the very intriguing platformer Screenbound, survival climbing game Cairn, the delightfully kooky-looking Building Relationships and sci-fi mystery Phoenix Springs. My Steam wishlist somehow expands quite significantly after each Day of the Devs showcase. Weird how that always happens.

How to watch Devolver Direct — June 6, 8PM ET
    Watch on YouTubeor Twitch
Sorry to everyone who was hoping for Baby Steps and Skate Story release dates from the SGF edition of Devolver Direct. This installment will be entirely focused on one game, and it's neither of those.
Devolver Digital will be showing off a previously unannounced title called Ball x Pit: The Kenny Sun Story. The publisher hasn't revealed any more details about this game yet, but apparently it's one that the Devolver "team themselves can't even put down — hundreds of hours later." Devolver's got a strong track record, so this will probably be worth your attention.

How to watch Wholesome Direct — June 7, 12PM ET
    Watch on YouTube or Twitch

Definitely don't overlook the smaller events that take place during SGF, as you can always find plenty of treats among them. One such event is the Wholesome Direct, which will feature around 60 cozy games. It will include world premieres, demo announcements and updates from publishers and developers including Playstack, btf Games, ustwo games and Wētā Workshop.

How to watch Women-led Games Showcase — June 7, 1PM ET
    Watch on YouTube

This one does what it says on the tin. It's a showcase featuring games from women-led and majority-women studios. Women-led Games will feature 39 titles, including world premieres and release dates.

How to watch Latin American Games Showcase — June 7, 2PM ET
    Watch on YouTube
The Latin American Games Showcase will feature more than 50 games, all of which are from Latin American developers, oddly enough. Expect world premieres, game update news and more from this one.

How to watch Green Games Showcase — June 7, 4PM ET
    Watch on YouTube
The Green Games Showcase is a new addition to the lineup for 2025. This will focus on the game's industry's "growing commitment to the environment." It will feature games that make direct contributions to green initiatives. Other titles in the showcase center around sustainability, and some are designed to raise awareness or drive action regarding environmental causes.
Amazon Games, Skybound Games and Team17 are among those taking part. The stream will include a Q&A about how games can inspire meaningful action on climate change. There will also be a fundraising drive to help plant 50,000 trees.

How to watch Xbox Games Showcase — June 8, 1PM ET
Watch on YouTube or TwitchWhat's the over/under on the number of times the phrase "day one with Game Pass" will appear on this stream? That's one phrase you can definitely expect to hear, but Microsoft will have plenty to share here. It's the biggest Xbox showcase of the year. There will be reveals and updates from across Xbox Game Studios, Bethesda and Activision Blizzard.
Games that the company has in the pipeline include Fable, Perfect Dark, Gears of War: E-Day, Everwild, State of Decay 3, Clockwork Revolution, Hideo Kojima's OD and Contraband. It feels a little early for an update on The Elder Scrolls 6 since that game is still years away. But we may find out more about those other games and some we don't yet know about, such as whatever Double Fine and Toys for Bob are working on.
I have my fingers crossed for more info on the Blade game that Arkane Studios is working on. It's a reasonably safe bet that we'll see something about the next Call of Duty here as well. There's always going to be space for offerings from Microsoft's partner studios and publishers too. Plus, you never know, we might get a peek at what Halo Studios has been cooking up.
One game we'll definitely hear more about on June 8 is The Outer Worlds 2. That's getting its own time in the spotlight, with a dedicated event that will start as soon as the main Xbox Games Showcase ends.

How to watch Death Stranding 2 Live Game Premiere — June 8, 10PM ET
    Watch on YouTube

Kojima will join Keighley at the Orpheum Theatre in LA to kick off a world tour of events to celebrate the arrival of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach. There will be a panel discussion with some special guests, as well as a live demo of the highly anticipated game. In case you can't make it in person, you can watch the hour-long event live at home.

Meanwhile, several publishers and other organizations are hosting their own shows around SGF. Here's when those will take place:

Access-Ability Summer Showcase — June 6, 11AM ET, on YouTube, YouTube with British Sign Language and TwitchIGN Live — throughout June 7 and 8, on YouTube and Twitch
Southeast Asian Games Showcase — June 7, 3PM ET, on YouTube

How to watch Day of the Devs — June 6, 7PM ET Watch on YouTubeor Twitch  Immediately after SGF Live ends, the YouTube and Twitch streams will segue into the summer 2025 edition of Day of the Devs. How to watch Devolver Direct — June 6, 8PM ET Watch on YouTubeor Twitch  Sorry to everyone who was hoping for Baby Steps and Skate Story release dates from the SGF edition of Devolver Direct. How to watch Wholesome Direct — June 7, 12PM ET Watch on YouTube or Twitch Definitely don't overlook the smaller events that take place during SGF, as you can always find plenty of treats among them. One such event is the Wholesome Direct, which will feature around 60 cozy games. It will include world premieres, demo announcements and updates from publishers and developers including Playstack, btf Games, ustwo games and Wētā Workshop. How to watch Women-led Games Showcase — June 7, 1PM ET Watch on YouTube This one does what it says on the tin. It's a showcase featuring games from women-led and majority-women studios. Women-led Games will feature 39 titles, including world premieres and release dates. How to watch Latin American Games Showcase — June 7, 2PM ET Watch on YouTube The Latin American Games Showcase will feature more than 50 games, all of which are from Latin American developers, oddly enough. Expect world premieres, game update news and more from this one. How to watch Green Games Showcase — June 7, 4PM ET Watch on YouTube The Green Games Showcase is a new addition to the lineup for 2025. How to watch Xbox Games Showcase — June 8, 1PM ET Watch on YouTube or TwitchWhat's the over/under on the number of times the phrase "day one with Game Pass" will appear on this stream? How to watch Death Stranding 2 Live Game Premiere — June 8, 10PM ET Watch on YouTube Kojima will join Keighley at the Orpheum Theatre in LA to kick off a world tour of events to celebrate the arrival of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach. There will be a panel discussion with some special guests, as well as a live demo of the highly anticipated game. In case you can't make it in person, you can watch the hour-long event live at home.  Meanwhile, several publishers and other organizations are hosting their own shows around SGF. Here's when those will take place:  Access-Ability Summer Showcase — June 6, 11AM ET, on YouTube, YouTube with British Sign Language and TwitchIGN Live — throughout June 7 and 8, on YouTube and Twitch Southeast Asian Games Showcase — June 7, 3PM ET, on YouTube Future Games Show — June 7, 4PM ET, on YouTube  Frosty Games Fest — June 7, 7PM ET, on YouTubePC Gamer's PC Gaming Show — June 8, 3PM ET, on YouTubePhew. Summer Game Fest 2025: What new game announcements to expect and how to watch
With E3 officially dead (organizer Entertainment Software Association is planning an industry-focused event for next April instead), SGF is now the de facto replacement and the biggest event for announcements and updates this side of Gamescom in August. To that end, here's a breakdown of how to watch Summer Game Fest 2025 and what to expect from the extravaganza (we're bound to get a Hollow Knight: Silksong release date this time, right?!?!). Summer Game Fest 2024 schedule Summer Game Fest Live — June 6, 5PM ET Day of the Devs — June 6, 7PM ET Devolver Direct — June 6, 8PM ET Wholesome Direct — June 7, 12PM ET Women-led Games Showcase — June 7, 1PM ET Latin American Games Showcase — June 7, 2PM ET Green Games Showcase — June 7, 4PM ET Xbox Games Showcase — June 8, 1PM ET Death Stranding 2: On The Beach Live Game Premiere — June 8, 10PM ET How to watch Summer Game Fest Live — June 6, 5PM ET Watch on YouTube or Twitch Putting aside our annoyance at the timing of this showcase — late on a Friday evening in the UK and right when many folks on the East Coast are clocking out for the weekend — Summer Game Fest Live is one of the bigger events in early June. It starts at 5PM ET and will run for two hours. Organizers are promising "spectacular new video game announcements, surprises and reveals." That's pretty compelling, especially since host Geoff Keighley (rightfully) downplayed expectations ahead of last year's show. SGF Live takes place just a couple of weeks before Kojima's Death Stranding 2: On the Beach arrives, so we'll likely get another peek at that game before a more in-depth event on June 8 (more on that momentarily). Perhaps some of the other projects Kojima's working on will get some time in the limelight too. We’re proud to welcome a record-setting 60+ partners for #SummerGameFest 2025, a global celebration of video games in Los Angeles this June. pic.twitter.com/1TZkEbKlHt— Geoff Keighley (@geoffkeighley) May 28, 2025 Keighley has also released an initial list of partners for SGF. On top of that, CD Projekt Red will be at SGF, but it's more likely to be promoting Cyberpunk 2077's arrival on the Nintendo Switch 2 than shining a spotlight on The Witcher 4 (it feels a little too early for the latter after the reveal trailer at The Game Awards in December). You can watch SGF Live on more than 20 platforms, including YouTube (that stream will be available in 4K at 60 fps), Twitch, X, TikTok, Steam and international services. The event will stream live from the YouTube Theater, and you can attend in person, if you like. In any case, we'll be bringing you all the major news from Summer Game Fest Live. We just can't promise we won't have an adult beverage with an umbrella next to us while we're covering the event. • Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (31st May)

    Seven days

It's basically good in all possible ways

I guess you could say I "yearn for the mines" now

    Jim Norman, Staff Writer
The weather is looking good this weekend and next week promises a lot of gaming, so I'm planning to take it easy on the playtime front. Old Skies has got me back on a point-and-click hit, and I have some train journeys to make, so I might crack out Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars on GBA to keep me going through the inevitable delays and jam-packed services.

But otherwise, a bit of sun, a bit of BBQ, and a bit of constantly checking my bank account for confirmation that my Switch 2 payment has finally been taken.
    Ollie Reynolds, Staff Writer
I’m still tinkering with The Hundred Line here and there, but I must admit that with the Switch 2 mere days away at this point, I’m spending a bit less time gaming in general at the moment; just to give myself a bit of breathing space before the avalanche hits.
I read a lot though, so at the moment, I’ve got two books on the go: Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Parkand The Road to Jonestown by Jeff Guinn on my Kindle. I find a nice combination of fiction and non-fiction is the way to go most of the time! Have a good one, folks.

It really happened last weekend: Closure for a story that was left unfinished a decade ago. Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition is most certainly one of my desert island games, and the possibility of a proper sequel is just too sweet to ignore. After all, Monolith has been quietly working on something these past years, right?

My physical Mobile Suit Gundam SEED: Battle Destiny Remastered copy arrived, and since I never owned the game on Vita, this is all-new content for yours truly. Other physical copies arriving include the amazing Star Overdrive and the SEGA Dreamcast-fuelled extravaganza known as Capcom Fighting Collection 2. This could very well be the best Capcom compilation yet, my arcade stick will surely see a lot of action this weekend.
My game of the week is… the waiting game! For these past few weeks, and to ensure that all goes smoothly on the 5th, I have executed my plan to the letter. The new TV is hooked up and ready for the arrival of the Switch 2. If my next week’s entry is just me pasting “Mario Kart World!!!” repeatedly, you will know it all worked out.
    Alana Hagues, Deputy Editor
I caved in. I have Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time ready to… steal my time. The Switch 2 version launching next week pushed me over the edge. Confession: I never played the 3DS game, so this will be my first taste of Fantasy Life, which honestly sounds like a combination of things made specifically for me.

The other thing Fantasy Life will steal time fromis Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, which I’ve just started and I’m having a blast. If the weather is nice where you are, get out there, because next weekend, many of us will have a Switch 2 in hand, and sunshine is the last thing we’ll want. Enjoy!

I'm playing Fantasy Life i like my life depends on it. Which, in a way, it does. Because it's about Lives. Do you get it? DO YOU? DO YOUUUU????
On the opposite end of the cheerful/morose spectrum, I finished Expedition 33, but it's such a delightful game that I don't want to leave. Luckily, there's TONS of post-ending content to mop up like a greedy little child licking gravy off the plate, and a New Game+, although that's a significant investment when I have so many other games to play. However, I know that all the dialogue and scenes that baffled me in my first playthroughwill gain new and horrifying meaning in a second playthrough, plus I'll get to keep all my hard-earned Pictos...

...but I really should get around to playing Hundred Line. Uchikoshi and Kodaka? Zero Escape and Danganronpa? It's a wonder I haven't played it yet. I love a murder game!

This time next week, Mario Kart World will be old news and we'll be bleary-eyed and knee-deep in Knockout Tours. So, before the excitement of a new console launch, I'm looking to chill the beans way, way down. As I have over the past few weeks, I'll be hitting 51 Clubhouse Games with the kids once more, but I also intend to finally tuck into to Thank Goodness You're Here, a game I don't think the 4K output of the Switch 2 will improve. Have a great one, everyone - we'll speak again when the next generation has arrived.

Summer Game Fest 2025 returns in June to fill the vacuum left by E3 — may it rest in peace — and will be joined by a long list of showcases from the likes of Xbox and tireless independent organizers who will put on shows like Day of the Devs and Wholesome Direct.

This year’s Summer Game Fest and Not-E3 extravaganza may look a little lighter, though. Publishers like Sony, Nintendo, and Ubisoft haven’t yet confirmed their brand of events — PlayStation Showcase, Nintendo Direct, and Ubisoft Forward, respectively — but some of that may change as we approach what would normally be E3 season.

In this guide to Summer Game Fest and not-E3 2025, we’ll run down the conference schedule, with dates and times across time zones in North America and Europe, and what to expect from each one.Summer Game Fest 2025

Where to watch: YouTube, TwitchWhen it starts: Friday, June 6, at 2 p.m. PST/5 p.m. EST/10 p.m. BST

With its focus on the types of games that would normally be reserved for E3 showcases past, expect the biggest reveals of AAA sequels, surprises, and world premiere exclusives to show up at Summer Game Fest 2025. Also, probably expect an appearance from Hideo Kojima. Here’s everything that was announced at SGF 2024, for an idea of what to expect.

Immediately following the Xbox Games Showcase, Obsidian Entertainment will get its own The Outer Worlds 2 Direct showcase, offering a deep dive into this year’s highly anticipated sci-fi RPG sequel.

    PC Gaming Show

Where to watch: YouTube, Twitch, FacebookWhen it starts: Sunday, June 8, at 12 p.m. PST/3 p.m. EST/8 p.m. BST

PC Gamer’s PC Gaming Show will show PC games — and nothing but PC games — on Sunday, June 8. Organizers say that this year’s PC Gaming Show will be “brimming with exclusives, announcements, world premieres and behind the scenes developer interviews,” viewers can look forward to over 50 games on PC, Steam Deck, Linux and MacOS this season of summer events and broadcasts—in the one and only show designed solely to celebrate all things PC gaming.” Some 50 games will be showcased, with publishers Ubisoft, Failbetter Games, Devolver Digital, and Astra Logical confirmed to appear.

    PlayStation State of Play/PlayStation Showcase

Sony Interactive Entertainment hasn’t announced a PlayStation Showcase or State of Play event for the Summer Game Fest/Not-E3 season, though it typically holds one in late May or early June. According to frequent leaker Jeff Grubb, Sony has a State of Play showcase in the works for sometime in June.

    Nintendo Direct

Nintendo also typically has a Nintendo Direct presentation sometime in mid-to-late June, though the company has not yet announced such an event for 2025. But since Nintendo is about to launch Switch 2 on June 5, don’t be surprised if it has more to show regarding the next-gen console’s lineup near or after launch.

Basketball has March Madness. Tech has the Consumer Electronics Show. AI has been waiting for its big moment—and this week may finally be it.
With Microsoft’s Build and Google’s I/O developer conferences happening back-to-back, it was already primed to be a big week. Microsoft announced 50 new AI tools alone, and Google followed up with its own slate just a day later. Then, out of the blue, Anthropic dogpiled with Claude 4, the latest version of its large language model, on Thursday.
While the maelstrom of announcements included some gee-whiz trinkets, anyone looking to build a business with AI should find plenty to look forward to and even some new tools to use immediately.
Struggling to keep up? Here are the biggest announcements from every company, and how they’ll reshape the AI landscape in the coming months.
Microsoft wants AI agents to talk to one another
By giving AI the power to perform work like a human rather than simply talking like one, agents represent an obvious next step for LLMs. But there’s been one major caveat holding them back: They can’t easily interact with one another. An agentic AI that books plane tickets for business travel and another that books hotels sounds great, until you land in London with a hotel room in Madrid.
Microsoft took a major step in resolving this impasse by adopting Model Context Protocol, a standard way for different agents – even those using different LLMs – to communicate. Anthropic actually created the standard in Nov. 2024. Still, Microsoft’s adoption means it’s well on its way to becoming a fixture of future agentic architecture, as HTML was for the open web. Microsoft also added MCP to Azure AI Foundry, its tool for creating AI apps, so users can begin building agents that interact with one another immediately.
So what? Agentic AI remains in its infancy, but a widely adopted standard will pave the way for the next generation of agentic tools. Standardization between competitors means you’ll have your pick of the litter on future LLMs when automating processes, rather than getting locked into a single company’s ecosystem.
    Claude 4 makes coders swoon
With just a 3.3% share of the generative AI market, ChatGPT and Gemini often overshadow Claude. However, developers won’t want to sleep on Opus 4 and Sonnet 4, which arrived unexpectedly on Thursday with some major coding bragging rights.
Perhaps most impressively, Claude 4 boasts marathon runtimes of up to seven hours in its “extended thinking” mode, which allows it to take thousands of steps and use tools like web search. Anthropic claims it will also explore more approaches, catch more errors, and break down its reasoning for more complex problems.
With these improvements, Claude Opus 4 shot to the top of the popular SWE-bench software engineering benchmark with a score of 72.5%, besting both OpenAI o3and Gemini 2.5 Pro.
So what? While benchmarks don’t always tell the whole story, Claude has already earned a reputation as the LLM of choice for developers. Claude 4 further cements that reputation with improvements for the software engineering community, which will help differentiate it from its more general-purpose peers.
    Google AI Mode upends search
Google debuted plenty of consumer AI at IO 2025, from the aforementioned virtual try-ons to Google Beam, which turns 2D video streams into live, hologram-like models with the help of six different camera angles and a lot of AI. However, the most consequential change for enterprises may well be AI Mode for search.
Like AI Overviews before it, AI Mode integrates Gemini into the search experience much more thoroughly. When you activate an AI Mode search, Google executes a “query fan-out technique,” which breaks your query into multiple searches and executes them simultaneously, then stitches together the results. While this mode was previously available for Google Labs users, this week, it’s going mainstream.
So what? Even if you’re not using AI Mode personally, any change to Google Search sends ripples into the pond for the millions of businesses that depend on Google Search to draw eyeballs. AI Overviews upended the search engine optimizationindustry, and AI Mode may be even more dramatic. The way most people find information online is changing, and fast.

  • Summer Game Fest 2025: What to expect and how to watch games revealed live

As if early June wasn't already going to be a wild enough time in the gaming world with the arrival of the Nintendo Switch 2, that's also when a whole host of showcases takes place as part of Summer Game Fest. Along with the two blockbuster events — Summer Game Fest Live and the Xbox Games Showcase — there are a bunch of other ones in store, including the always-delightful Day of the Devs.
There could be even more on the docket. There's always a chance that Nintendo and Sony will run a Direct or State of Play, respectively, over the next few weeks. Ubisoft hasn't yet announced a Forward event for this year either — perhaps because it has delayed a bunch of big games and isn't ready to talk about them. We haven't yet heard about a Devolver Direct either.
To that end, here's a breakdown of how to watch Summer Game Fest 2025 and what to expect from the extravaganzaSummer Game Fest 2024 schedule

Immediately after SGF Live ends, the YouTube and Twitch streams will segue into the summer 2025 Day of the Devs stream.
In all, this edition of Day of the Devs will feature 20 games.

But we may find out more about those other games and some we don't yet know about.
I have my fingers crossed for more info on the Blade game that Arkane Studios is working on. It's a reasonably safe bet that we'll see something about the next Call of Duty here as well.
One game we'll definitely hear more about on June 8 is The Outer Worlds 2. That's getting its own time in the spotlight, with a dedicated event that will start as soon as the main Xbox Games Showcase ends.

Meanwhile, several publishers and other organizations are hosting their own shows around SGF. Here's when those will take place:

IGN Live — throughout June 7 and 8
Southeast Asian Games Showcase — June 7, 3PM ET

Future Games Show — June 7, 4PM ET

PC Gamer's PC Gaming Show — June 8, 3PM ETPhew. Get ready, gamers. Details on many, many new games are coming your way very soon. This article originally appeared on Engadget at

Summer Game Fest 2025: What to expect and how to watch games revealed live
