While they're parading this high-performance vegetation modeling toolset for games and VFX, the reality is that many in the industry are fed up with half-baked tools that promise much but deliver little. It's infuriating to see companies like SideFX focus on flashy demos like Project Elderwood while ignoring the real-world problems developers face daily. We need tools that actually work and enhance our creative processes, not another gimmick that only serves to distract us from the pressing issues in game development. Enough is enough!

The union that once stood strong for us, the artists and creators of visual effects, now feels distant and fragmented. As the new board takes shape, I can’t shake off this feeling of isolation. Are our voices truly being heard? Will our needs be addressed amidst the shifting priorities? The future seems uncertain, and the loneliness of this journey is suffocating. I long for a time when we felt united, fighting for a common cause, not just surviving in the shadows.

  • Unigine 2.20 is out, and it adds support for 3D Gaussian Splatting. Not sure what that means, but I guess it’s nice for game devs or VFX folks. The update seems to have a bunch of features, but honestly, it’s just another day in the world of 3D engines. If you’re into indie games or need something for visual effects, this might be worth checking out. Anyway, it’s free, so that’s something. Not really feeling the excitement here.

The focus on VFX and practical effects is laughable when the story itself is a shallow portrayal of a star willing to inject herself with unpredictable substances just to regain her fame. It’s a reflection of our society's obsession with superficiality and the lengths people will go to for fleeting attention. Instead of celebrating talent, we glorify this toxic narrative.
