God of War TV show getting second season, though first still being writtenCart before the Norse.Image credit: Sony News by Victoria Kennedy News Reporter Published on March 18, 2025 Amazon's God of War series already has a second season ordered, even though the first hasn't even aired. In fact, the last I checked, the first season doesn't even have a release date yet.Confirmation that we'll get at least two God of War seasons comes from showrunner and former Battlestar Galactica executive producer Ronald D. Moore. The Death of Console Exclusives Is Inevitable and I Don't Know How I Feel About It. Watch on YouTubeEarlier this month, Moore appeared on The Sackhoff Show with Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff, and this is when the topic of God of War's TV adaptation came up."Right now I'm working on an adaptation of this video game called God of War - it's a big title in the gaming world - that Amazon has ordered two seasons of and they asked me to come in," Moore said. "I'm literally in the writers room and working on that. That's my new thing." Moore admitted he isn't a "a gamer", and hadn't done something like this before - but had at least tried to play the God of War games, albeit rather unsuccessfully. "I took a stab at it," Moore continued, before joking he "grew up in the arcade era" of gaming. "I can do that... Astroids? Bring it on baby," he quipped."The controllers now..." Moore continued with a laugh. "Press R1, which one's R1, oh I'm dead! I can't quite get a hold of that." It sounds like Moore's family have a better handle on modern gaming, though, as the showrunner noted his wife was a fan of Skyrim. You can check out the full exchange via the embed below. Despite the shakeup, the likes of Cory Barlog from God of War studio Sony Santa Monica remain an executive producer on the upcoming TV series, as does PlayStation Productions' Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, Sony's Hermen Hulst and Vertigo's Roy Lee.Santa Monica's Jeff Ketcham is also a co-executive producer on Amazon's God of War adaptation. Image credit: Sony Santa MonicaAlong with God of War, Amazon also has a second season of its acclaimed Fallout adaptation in the pipeline. Filming for the second season began last year, before production was halted in January due to the disastrous fires which burned across multiple districts of Los Angeles.Fallout season two will blow the first "out of the water", The Ghoul actor Walton Goggins said earlier this year.

  • More agony for Marvel Rivals console players as PC players get aim boost

Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games hereMarvel Rivals player base is still growing each day due to its popularity, but a distinct gap is emerging between console and PC communities, spurred by discrepancies in features and performance. Both platforms support crossplay in casual modes, bringing friends from different systems together, however, Competitive Mode separates themPC players compete separately from console fighters, most likely due to input differences.Console players benefit from aim assist, which improves controller precision, and PC gamers can enjoy improved graphics fidelity and frame rates. However, a new feature introduced for PC players has further tipped the scale in their favor which improves control responsiveness, potentially widening the skills gap.Marvel Rivals introduces Raw Mouse Input feature for PC playersIn the most recent March 13 update for Marvel Rivals, NetEase has introduced a new Raw Input feature for PC players that enables them to gain an input boost on their mouse and smoother movement, thus resulting in faster response times.Turn on Raw Mouse Input for smoother aiming and mouse movement. Image by VideoGamer. This setting can be found under the Keyboard -> Combat section under Mouse and is turned off by default. Enabling the setting will read the raw mouse input data during movement, preventing factors other than the mouse itself from affecting sensitivity. This means the game bypasses your default Windows curser and click settings and will only base its input on your mouses setting on a software if you use any.PC players have shown their gratitude to NetEase upon adding this setting to the game as they took to social media to talk about their experience. Furthermore, if youre wondering if this is independent of Mouse Acceleration, the answer is yes.Even if youve turned that on, the game will still use raw input if you have this setting turned on so your mouse options from other games such as Fortnite or Apex do not overlap. If youre looking for more such settings in Marvel Rivals, check out this setting that can massively help you during matches.Marvel RivalsPlatform(s):macOS, PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series XGenre(s):Fighting, ShooterRelated TopicsMarvel Rivals Subscribe to our newsletters!By subscribing, you agree to our Privacy Policy and may receive occasional deal communications; you can unsubscribe anytime.Share

  • Top Street Fighter 6 competitor ChrisCCH declines qualification spot for Saudi-owned Esports World Cup due to "the nature in which the event is funded and managed"
    www.vg247.com
Standing FierceTop Street Fighter 6 competitor ChrisCCH declines qualification spot for Saudi-owned Esports World Cup due to "the nature in which the event is funded and managed"As sportswashing becomes a bigger talking point in competitive gaming by the month, the player has opted out. News by Connor Makar Staff Writer Published on March 18, 2025 As sportswashing becomes an increasingly powerful force in the esports space, one Street Fighter 6 pro player has come out and expressed his intent to avoid participating in the Saudi Arabia government-owned Esports World Cup through a lengthy social media statement.Christopher Hancock (better known as ChrisCCH), an American Street Fighter 6 player represented by Flyquest, earned a spot at the Esports World Cup through his performance at the Street Fighter League World Finals earlier this year. While attending the event would surely lead to financial gain for the pro player, ChrisCCH took the time to announce his intentions as well as provide some additional context on his prior actions given the growing presence of Sportswashing ventures. To see this content please enable targeting cookies. The post reads as follows: "I have decided to decline the EWC qualification spot that I earned through the SFL world finals. I gave this decision a lot of thought and ultimately decided that, due to the nature in which the event is funded and managed, I do not feel comfortable participating in it."I previously declined to participate in Gamers8 2023 and did not participate in any EWC qualifiers in 2024. I planned to do the same in 2025, but with the new CPT/EWC (Capcom Pro Tour / Esports World Cup) partnership, choosing not to participate in any EWC qualifiers would effectively mean retirement from competing. I find it regrettable that this event has become so deeply embedded in the FGC, but I have not yet made a decision on whether I will stop competing in events associated with it alltogether."Lastly, I want to say thank you to FlyQuest and my SFL teammates for an incredible season that brought me to this spot to begin with. While I stand by my decision, I apolagize to them and everyone who was looking forward to seeing me compete in EWC. I hope to see you all again in the future."It's a lonely stance to take, in a space that sadly has embraced the EWC by and large. This statement has been met with support from those who share Chris' concerns, including his peer and Evo 2024 winner Punk. However, others have been flippant in their dismissal of Chris' decision. For those unaware of what's going on, the Esports World Cup is a massive esports event hosted in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, funded by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, making it government funded. It's the latest in a spree of financial outreach by the country into global sports and entertainment, including Liv Golf, F1, Football, and - of course - the world of video games through esports and investment in video game companies such as Niantic, Scopely, and more. The reason this should be cause for concern is that the Esports World Cup, alongside other sportswashing ventures, is an attempt to improve the global standing of the country in the wake of various human rights abuses. According to Amnesty International, the country has killed migrants, still applies the death penalty, and descriminates against women and women's rights. According to Walk Free, Saudi Arabia ranks fourth on its global slavery index. With this in mind you would think a boycot would be easy, however there are real financial and career consequences for fighting game professionals avoiding the Esports World Cup. As ChrisCCH mentioned, recently Capcom partnered with the Esports World Cup and has integrated many of the largest Capcom Pro Tour tournaments into the EWC ecosystem, including Evo Japan and Combo Breaker. To avoid these would be to cripple your own chances at being a Street Fighter pro.As for finances, players are set to earn substantially more from competing at the EWC than in the vast majority of other tournaments. Just for showing up, ChrisCCH would have taken home at least $5,000, and potentially $300,000 for winning. For comparison, winning Street Fighter 6 at Evo (the largest fighting game tournament in the world) last year earned you roughly $21,000.This stance that Chris has taken is a brave one, and one that is becoming increasingly hard to have as video game companies and tournaments continue to embrace the Esports World Cup despite ethical concerns. While others have come out publically such as Sajam and echoed such sentiments, and others have silently kept away from Saudi Arabian owned esports ventures, it's becoming hard and harder to do so and stay in the space. Whether or not the FGC will stand behind him, tragically, is not a sure thing.

  • Dark Visual Novel Pulled For Japanese Age Rating Revision Just Four Days After eShop Launch
    www.nintendolife.com
Image: 2P GamesThe visual novel The Hungry Lamb: Traveling in the Late Ming Dynasty launched on Steam last April, and it was a hit like, one million copies sold, 40,000+ 'Overwhelmingly Positive' reviews kind of a hit. Those who had been waiting for the title to come to Switch had their wishes answered last week when it finally launched globally on the eShop, but, after just four days, the game was removed from the Japanese storefront pending an age rating review. As reported by Automaton, The Hungry Lamb initially launched in Japan with a 16+ IARC rating last week, putting it at the lower end of the international range (it received ESRB Teen in North America, Mature in Australia and PEGI 18 in the UK), though that is expected to be bumped up a level following review.Subscribe to Nintendo Life on YouTube799kWatch on YouTube Taking a look at the game's long 'Mature Content Description' on Steam, a post-launch revision makes quite a lot of sense. Developer ZerocreationGames lists a whole bunch of "adult" topics in this section, including "excruciating pain", "bodily injury", "depictions of sexual violence", and more.A publisher can tweak a game's age rating without having to pull it from the storefront, though an increase by two or more levels or a change to 18+ means that the title needs to be yanked from public sale during the revision period. In a statement shared on Twitter, publisher 2P Games said (via Google Translate) that it was "working hard to resume sales of the game as soon as possible" and reaffirmed that those who have already purchased it can still play without issue. The rating review has only affected The Hungry Lamb listings on the Japanese and Hong Kong eShop, with the visual novel still live on other regional storefronts. While nothing like as dark, you might remember a similar eShop disappearance for Balatro shortly after the game's launch as its approach to gambling was brought into question. The poker roguelike was later reinstated with an 18+ age rating before months of appeals finally dropped things down to 12+ earlier this year. Justice is dealtWhat do you make of this eShop takedown? • Apple loses appeal against Germanys special abuse control for Big Tech
    techcrunch.com
In BriefPosted:5:00 AM PDT March 18, 2025Image Credits:Justin SullivanApple loses appeal against Germanys special abuse control for Big TechBeing a staggeringly successful big tech company does have some downsides: Apple has lost an appeal against a special abuse control regime that Germanys competition watchdog applied to it last year. The iPhone maker can expect to continue to face bespoke competition controls in a major European market, in addition to other similar laws (such as the EUs DMA).On Tuesday, Reuters reported the ruling by Germanys Federal Court of Justice that has affirmed the five-year regulatory designation on Apple that the Federal Cartel Office (FCO) applied to it in April 2023. The special abuse controls regime is intended to help level the competitive playing field against digital giants.Last month, the FCO said it suspects that Apples App Tracking Transparency framework amounts to self preferencing, which is banned under the regime. So Apple could end up being forced to apply equal treatment to its own data collection for ads that its platform demands on third-party apps through permission pop-ups.Reached for comment on the failure of its legal challenge, Apple emailed us a statement disagreeing with the court decision, which also continues to claim the company faces fierce competition in Germany.Apple is proud to be an engine for innovation, job creation, and competition in every market where we operate, the statement added. We disagree with the FCJs decision today to uphold the FCOs designation, which discounts the value of a business model that puts user privacy and security at its core.Apple is not the only tech giant thats subject to the FCOs special abuse controls: Google, Meta, and Microsoft are also members of this elite club. • Google is buying Wiz for up to $33B to beef up in cloud security
    techcrunch.com
Google is making the biggest acquisition in its history. The companys parent company Alphabet is acquiring Wiz, the cloud security startup, for between $32 billion and $33 billion, sources very close to the deal have told me. The deal should be announced imminently. Our sources confirm that Wiz will remain an independent platform that will work across all cloud providers, not just Google Cloud Platform. There will be more hiring to expand the business and likely more acquisitions, which is something Wiz has been working to do for the last year. Our sources also said that Wiz is at $700 million in annual recurring revenue at the moment. The deal is being described to us as akin to the one between LinkedIn and Microsoft, in terms of autonomy within the bigger organization. (It should be noted that LinkedIn does use a lot of Microsoft services, and has increased that over time, so perhaps thats a more meaningful analogy than was intended.)The deal will still need regulatory and other approvals before closing. From what we can see, Google and Wiz have yet to confirm anything official. Other outlets are also reporting the deal is done. Previously, Googles biggest acquisition had been buying Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion in 2011. This acquisition has been on-again off-again for nearly part of a year and appeared to revive again this week at a $30 billion price tag. Thomas Kurian the CEO of Google Cloud is in Europe at the moment, and Assaf Rappaort, the CEO of New York-based Wiz, is currently in Israel. From what we understand, Kurian has been leading on this deal, and Wiz would come under his wing spearheading a major push into cloud security for the company.Last year, Google offered to buy Wiz for $23 billion, but the talks fell apart, sources say over concerns about antitrust issues, Wizs autonomy for development under Google Cloud and potentially even the price tag. At the time of the deal talks, Wiz was valued at $12 billion based on a $1 billion funding round earlier in the year. In the interim, there is now a new U.S. President and some believe the new regulatory regime will usher in a more favorable climate for big tech acquisitions that might have previously been roadblocked. For its part, Google has been interested scooping up Wiz to turbo charge in two areas: enterprise cloud, a business where it continues to lag behind AWS and Microsoft Azure; and security, an area where it does offer some products but nothing on the size, scale, or growth trajectory of Wiz.Not long after the deal fell apart, Wiz ran a secondary sale at a $16 billion valuation. Rumors were that it was in the process of fundraising at an even higher valuation. And business has been growing, with the company crossing $500 million in ARR last year and on track to double that this year to $1 billion.Last year on stage at Disrupt, Rappaport didnt rule out the possibility of an acquisition in the future but he also confirmed that it was Wiz who walked away from the deal, describing it as the toughest decision ever but also maintaining it was the right choice. On a purely financial outcome, it looks like his instinct has held true.More to come.
