  • Assassin's Creed Shadows fans have a list of features Ubisoft should add next

Assassin's Creed Shadows fans have a list of features Ubisoft should add nextSomething to meditate on.Image credit: Ubisoft News by Tom Phillips Editor-in-Chief Published on March 25, 2025 Assassin's Creed Shadows has been warmly-received by fans of the series - and is off to a good start sales-wise, too - but players still have a long list of suggestions for what they'd like to see Ubisoft add to the game next.A lengthy thread on the Assassin's Creed reddit has dozens of feature ideas - including a particularly prominent handful of concepts from other Assassin's Creed games that didn't return in Shadows that fans want to see added back. The ability to meditate and move the game's clock forward - changing day to night, or vice versa - is a big request. I can see why this didn't initially make the cut in Shadows, as stealth is such a big deal and I'd always change the clock to night for an easier ride (Naoe specifically has skills which boost her stealth after dark). But also, waiting for the night is no fun. Eurogamer's Assassin's Creed Shadows review in video form.Watch on YouTubeNumerous fans have asked for your mount's "follow path" option to return. Present in several recent Assassin's Creed games, this essentially put your horse on autopilot, allowing you to go check your phone for a bit. I actually appreciate that this isn't included in Shadows, with road traversal instead spiced up with random encounters - both friend and foe.Smaller requests include hair and beard customisation (as seen in Assassin's Creed Valhalla), fishing (again, as in Valhalla), faster selling/dismantling of gear, the ability to show headgear in cutscenes, an option to remove yellow paint, and the addition of poses for photo mode. The majority of fan requests are relatively minor - which is a good thing! There are surprisingly (to me) few requests for the return of the arrival drone, which I liked using but doesn't fit with Shadows' more detailed exploration mechanics. A good number of fans have simply asked for the ability to sit down wherever in the game and watch the world go by."Let me pinch Junjiro's cheeks on demand," Soapy_Grapes wrote. Sure. Will any of these suggestions make the cut? Ubisoft has already committed to evolving Shadows further over the coming weeks and months. "Thank you for being part of this journey with us," the Assassin's Creed Shadows development team at Ubisoft Quebec wrote in a message to fans this past weekend. "This is just the beginning for Shadows, and we're thrilled to see the game evolve with you by our side.""Majestic in scope, impressive in detail, Ubisoft's epic adventure honours the beauty of feudal Japan, even if its strongest moments are saved for the personal stories of its two protagonists," I wrote in Eurogamer's Assassin's Creed Shadows review.

Check out how we test and review games hereBaldurs Gate 3 actors Neil Newbon and Samantha Bart are pushing back against the games industrys rise of AI voices in new games. With titles like The Finals opting to use AI voices instead of hiring human talent, theres an overhanging worry that human actors will be phased out to reduce cost.Baldurs Gate 3 actors against AIAfter a leaked PlayStation tech demo showed an AI recreation of Horizon Zero Dawns Aloy talking to players, the issue of generative voice work is even more pressing than before.Speaking to EDGE Magazine, Baldurs Gate 3s Karlach actor Samantha Bart explained that essentially, [CEOs pushing AI] just want to save money. In the long term, itll destroy their reputation, their company, everything, the actor said.Astarion actor Neil Newbon, a performer that famously ad-libbed the characters best moment in the game, called for heavy AI regulation. AI will have deep ramifications across all industries if not ethically regulated by people, they said.As an artist, I believe in experiencing life and art through human expression, not software, he continued. AI, after all, is built on the work originally created by humans, and there is a fundamental difference between the two. While some actors have allowed themselves to be recreated with AI for powerful reasons, such as Val Kilmer using the technology to regain his voice actor after a battle with throat cancer, companies are looking to use the technology to underpay performers and increase profit. In the interview, Bart criticised actors that are allowing themselves to be exploited via AI voice generation saying the art and the technology are like oil and water. Why would you do it? Youve just signed your way out of any sort of job or career, she said. We have an industry of highly artistic people whove had a calling to do this stuff, and then youve got these people with money, who dont play games, who see it as an easy way to make a return on investment. The dream of the tech industry is to sell off your company at an overinflated price and retire, she continued. And I feel thats being done with game studios right now. Its the same people who worship at the altar of [former General Electric CEO Jack Welch, who made loads of money off austerity, before the company tanked after his retirement].Baldurs Gate 3 is a game renowned for its fantastic acting and its stellar writing, all created by talented and passionate humans with love for their craft. Its the reason why Laezels voice matures as her story evolves, the reason we all fell in love with Shadowheart. Even the reason we all accidentally started dating Gale on launch was because the game was coded by humans, and thats the magic of art.For people that cant, AI can feel like a magical tool, but its at the cost of people that can and people that want. Its also at the cost of learning, acquiring skill, and the cost of allowing people to fail. At the end of the day, the cost is the human experience, and that really blows. Sorry, Im not a great writer, but let me fail. • Assassins Creed Shadows couldn't beat Valhalla, but it's officially the second-biggest launch in series history

Can't Beat the ValAssassins Creed Shadows couldn't beat Valhalla, but it's officially the second-biggest launch in series historyUbisoft hasn't officially said it, but reports suggest Assassins Creed Shadows is the series' second-biggest launch.Image credit: Ubisoft News by Sherif Saed Contributing Editor Published on March 25, 2025 Whether or not Assassins Creed Shadows is the game Ubisoft needs it to be remains to be seen, but the action RPG has apparently done pretty well for the publisher. Shadows was released less than a week ago, and attracted over 2 million players in its first two days of release.According to new information, however, Shadows has had a solid launch, if a little less headline-worthy.To see this content please enable targeting cookies. In an internal memo obtained by Variety and VGC, Ubisoft revealed that Assassins Creed Shadows has seen record levels of player engagement, and incredibly positive feedback from players.Sources also told the outlets that Shadows has had the second-best day one sales revenue for any Assassins Creed, sitting just behind Valhalla. Its worth noting that Ubisoft did not share hard sales numbers, either publicly or in that internal communication.Ubisoft also noted in the memo that Shadows had the best day one launch out of any of its games on the PlayStation Store. The games performance on PC was also strong, with the platform responsible for 27% of the games player base. Steam is said to have been a major contributor, which is especially notable as Shadows is the first Assassins Creed since 2019 to launch on Steam day-and-date with Ubisofts own store and the Epic Games Store. On Steam, Shadows started out at a decent 41,412 players peak concurrent. The positive word of mouth around the game caused it to gain a lot more players over the weekend, having now peaked at 64,825 (via SteamDB).Assassins Creed Valhalla, of course, enjoyed a big boost as a result of the 2020 pandemic, and came out in the fall, as opposed to March. Nevertheless, this looks to be about the best case scenario for Shadows.

  • Forget battling Natarkveld, Monster Hunter Wilds modders have now made playable anthropomorphic Arkveld a thing for reasons and used it to replace a certain kid
    www.vg247.com
Still Nata WeirdForget battling Natarkveld, Monster Hunter Wilds modders have now made playable anthropomorphic Arkveld a thing for reasons and used it to replace a certain kidWhy not swap your hunter for Anthrokveld, so you can chat to Arkveld Nata as Arkveld before fighting Arkveld?Image credit: Capcom/XenonValstrax News by Mark Warren Senior Staff Writer Published on March 25, 2025 Warning: Spoilers for Monster Hunter Wilds lie ahead.Hello. Monster Hunter Wilds modders have been getting pretty weird lately, both in the name of bizarre fetishes and the most widespread in-joke the community's developed since this latest MonHun came out. Here's another case of the latter - meet anthropomorphic Arkveld Nata. But, you say, haven't Wilds modders already created a freaky half big murderous beastie, half child who at one point during Wilds confusingly says he's just like that murderous beastie, a line that's since become a source of endless MH community gags? Yes, Natarkveld exists. However, Wilds modders clearly weren't done bringing Nata and Arkveld together in literal ways.To see this content please enable targeting cookies. Enter 'Arkveld Nata', a mod by XenonValstrax which replaces Nata, the arguably kinda annoying "mysterious young boy that accompanies you on your journey" in Wilds, with, er, an anthropomorphic Arkveld.Basically, it's the reverse of the aforementioned Natarkveld mod - Natarkveld slaps Nata's head and hands onto Arkveld's body, Arkveld Nata swaps Arkveld's head and limbs onto Nata's body. Confused? Good, it's not like you wouldn't end up that way anyway when a deadly monster dressed in human clothes suddenly starts talking in a child's voice or gently weeping. To be honest, I think that prospect might be more terrifying than anything Natarkveld or vanilla Akveld could throw at you. It doesn't end there either - that anthro Arkveld model XenonValstrax has used here is one they created for another mod they recently put out: 'Hunter Arkveld' Here's Hunter Arkveld doing a cute little pose. | Image credit: XenonValstrax/CapcomYep, if you hadn't guessed, that one lets you swap out your hunter and play as an anthro Arkveld. It comes in two versions, one of which comes with the risk of making your character's head invisible, just in case you don't think being able to kill Arkveld as Arkveld's weird human-bodied cousin isn't trippy enough. XenonValstrax also warns that "this mod loads a monster model every time in game and might cause performance loss" and adds that it hasn't been tested with female character models. It's also worth noting that both Arkveld Nata and Hunter Arkveld appear not to currently work as intended for folks whose PCs have AMD graphics cards - if you're affected, it's up to you if you view that as a blessing or a curse. For non-AMDers, you'll need Fluffy Mod Manager and REFramework to get these mods working. If you're planning to jump into Monster Hunter Wilds and embrace the surreal Arkveldiness, you can check out the array of helpful guides and tips we've got.

  • Random: New Video Highlights 120FPS Gameplay On Modded Switch
    www.nintendolife.com
Subscribe to Nintendo Life on YouTube800kThe Nintendo Switch is a truly remarkable device. Despite falling well short in terms of raw power when compared to the likes of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, the console has nevertheless proved to be a monumental success. But what if you could boost its performance beyond what Nintendo deems appropriate?Well naturally, we wouldn't recommend doing so, but that hasn't stopped some folks from trying anyway. A new video posted by naga on YouTube (thanks, wccftech) showcases what Switch games might look like with frame rates of up to 120fps. Now, it's important to note here that this is a modded Switch with 8GB, so what you see in the video can't be achieved with the base Switch alone. It's a fascinating look into what might be possible, and even with the 8GB RAM, this still pales in comparison to what the upcoming Switch 2 might be capable of when it launches later this year. Though nothing has been officially confirmed at the time of writing, copious leaks and rumours point to the successor boasting 12GB RAM.Nintendo's apparent focus on prolonging component life and ensuring conservative thermals means that its hardware will probably never be capable of achieving the kind of performance that might be considered "cutting edge", but it's interesting to see what's possible on the Switch with a little boost in power. Now, give us those Switch 2 specs! • Lulzbot unveils its new TAZ 8 desktop 3D printer: Technical specifications and pricing
    3dprintingindustry.com
US-based 3D printer manufacturer LulzBot has introduced the TAZ 8, a Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) desktop 3D printer developed for industrial environments where consistent output and mechanical reliability are essential. Now available to order, the TAZ 8 is intended for users who need a dependable 3D printing system capable of handling repetitive tasks, varied materials, and ongoing production demands. Built to handle applications such as producing functional jigs, durable prototypes, and manufacturing aids, the TAZ 8 combines structural updates with user-focused features to support day-to-day production needs.Developed in Fargo, North Dakota, LulzBot highlighted that producing the 3D printer domestically supports a reliable supply chain and allows the company to provide more responsive customer and technical support.LulzBot TAZ 8 3D printer. Image via LulzBot.TAZ 8 for enhanced accuracy and controlEquipped with a build volume of 285 x 285 x 285 mm, the 3D printer incorporates dual independent Z-axis movement, supported by 5.18:1 gearboxes and 12mm rods, to help maintain alignment along the X-axis during operation. On the X and Y axes, linear rails are used instead of standard rods, offering increased stability and smoother motion, factors that can influence both speed and print quality, particularly in larger or more complex builds. To assist with first-layer accuracy, the TAZ 8 features a BLTouch probe for mesh bed leveling. This sensor scans multiple points on the build plate, creating a surface map that the printer uses to adjust nozzle height dynamically during printing. The goal is to ensure consistent first-layer adhesion, even on slightly uneven beds, a detail that can improve overall print success rates. An active bed cooling system has also been introduced in this model. Unlike passive cooling, this system actively reduces the temperature of the build plate between prints, shortening turnaround times while helping maintain the dimensional stability of printed parts. Its intended to be especially useful for users working with temperature-sensitive materials or high-throughput production cycles.Mechanical elements such as D-shaped motor pulleys and flanged bearings have been chosen to support repeatable motion and simplify maintenance. Updates to backlash compensation help reduce the subtle inconsistencies caused by mechanical slack, leading to cleaner transitions and smoother printed surfaces. In terms of motion control, the printer now uses physical limit switches for homing instead of sensorless methods. This shift is aimed at improving the precision of the printers reference positioning. Inside the electronics, the TAZ 8 is powered by LulzBots latest Archim control board. The board includes extra stepper channels and is designed to reduce electrical interference during operation, contributing to more stable performance over time. The TAZ 8 also features a magnetic bed system, allowing users to quickly swap out build surfaces depending on the material or print requirements. Users can choose between different Galaxy Series Tool Heads, available in both single and dual extrusion versions. These tool heads come equipped with high-powered heaters and use direct-drive, dual-drive mechanisms, enabling more consistent extrusion and broader filament compatibility. On the user interface side, the printer includes a resistive touchscreen that is designed to be responsive even when operated with gloves. The menu system has been updated to support a smoother user experience. Tool head changes can be completed without additional equipment, using a magnetic cap and thumbscrews for faster replacement.Filament runout and jams are tracked using encoder-based sensors, which pause the print when issues are detected, helping to minimize material waste and downtime. Stainless steel spool holders are included and are designed to support a wide range of spool sizes and materials, whether cardboard or plastic.TAZ 8 touch screen interface.
