Study Identifies Plasma Formation as a Pseudostreamer
Photo Credit: ESA Webb captured streaks resembling UFOs, which are distant stars. HighlightsSolar Orbiter recorded a massive plasma pseudostreamer near the SunThe structure extended 1.5 times the Suns width and lasted three hoursScientists expect more intense solar activity in the coming yearsAdvertisementA towering spiral of plasma has been recorded extending millions of kilometres from the Sun. The video was taken by the European Space Agency's Solar Orbiter during an eight-hour period on October 12, 2022. A coronal mass ejection caused the plasma to rise from the Sun's surface. The footage captured something which was never observed before. It showed a swirling motion in the solar wind. As per the latest report, scientists also recorded bright streaks that were moving across the frame. Researchers also revealed that these streaks appeared as pixelated lines, which might also ressemble like UFOs. Scientists later confirmed they were distant stars visible due to the imaging process.Study Identifies Plasma Formation as a PseudostreamerThe study published in The Astrophysical Journal revealed that the massive structure that appeared in the photos was a large pseudostreamer. It was formed near the Sun's north pole after a solar flare erupted. The report further highlighted that the plasma reached 1.5 times the Sun's width and remained visible for three hours. Scientists believes the twisting movement of the plasma was due to Alfvnic fluctuations. These fluctuations happen when waves of charged particles respond to magnetic disturbances. Scientists says the pseudostreamer's location influenced its unique shape. Magnetic fields at the Sun's poles are stronger than those near the equator.Unusual Streaks ExplainedThe video also showed bright, half-dark lines crossing the screen. These lines appeared to move in a pattern similar to arcade game graphics. ESA confirmed that these were distant stars. The video's editing technique made them appear as streaks rather than points of light. The Solar Orbiter's movement against the background created this effect.Solar Activity Expected to IntensifyThe Sun is currently experiencing solar maximum. Flares and solar winds have increased since early 2024. The pseudostreamer in the video formed before this peak. Scientists were surprised by its early appearance. ESA's Solar Orbiter continues to capture detailed images of solar wind. NASA's Parker Solar Probe and ESA's Proba-3 mission are also studying these phenomena. More extreme solar winds are expected in the coming years. For the latest tech news and reviews, follow Gadgets 360 on X, Facebook, WhatsApp, Threads and Google News. Elon Rewrites AI Rules
Elon Rewrites AI RulesJustin DownesFollow3 min readJust now--When Elon Musk shelled out $44 billion to snag X back when it was still Twitter in October 2022, the world saw it as a billionaires vanity project gone wild. Critics scoffed, advertisers bolted, and the headlines screamed chaos. But nearly 3 years later, its clear this wasnt just about the obvious gains of media control, free speech or capitalism incarnate. It came with a bigger, smarter kickback than all of that: data. Musks acquisition of X wasnt a reckless punt it was a stealth move to crack the AI industrys Achilles heel. The Data Dilemma AI Titans Cant EscapeLets set the scene. Companies like OpenAI and Google are locked in a high-stakes AI arms race, splashing billions to hoover up colossal datasets. These troves think web archives, books, and scraped forums are the fuel that powers models like ChatGPT and DeepMind. But heres the rub: those datasets are like milk left out too long they go off fast. In a world where trends flip overnight and news breaks in seconds, yesterdays data is about as useful as a dial-up modem. To stay sharp, AI needs the pulse of now real-time human chatter, shifting moods, and live conversations. And thats where Musks genius kicks in.X: The Living, Breathing Data GoldmineEnter X, with its 600 million-plus active users hammering out a relentless stream of thoughts, rants, and revelations every single second. When Musk took the reins, he didnt just buy a social platform he nabbed the keys to a dynamic, ever-evolving data vault that no one else can touch. Forget static snapshots of the internet; X is a firehose of humanity, pumping out everything from viral memes to geopolitical hot takes as they happen. Through his AI venture, xAI, Musk is now feeding this torrent straight into Grok-3, his cutting-edge model thats poised to outsmart the competition. Why This Changes the GameThink about it: while OpenAI and Google are still sifting through last years digital dust, Musks AI is gorging on the raw, unfiltered present. X gives xAI a front-row seat to:Live global buzz: Every tweet, every thread, captured in the moment.Instant trends: Spotting whats hot before it even hits the mainstream.Human behaviour: 600 million users quirks and patterns, across cultures and tongues.Thats not just an edge its a mantle. No amount of cash can buy what X delivers naturally: a real-time window into the worlds collective mind. Musk saw what others didnt: in the AI race, data freshness trumps data volume every time. From Social Media Mess to AI MasterstrokeBack in 2022, the X buyout looked like a $44 billion headache $12 billion in debt, a fleeing ad base, and a PR nightmare. But fast-forward to now, and its a different story. By harnessing Xs data for xAI, Musk has flipped the script. Its not a sinking ship anymore its the engine room of his AI revolution. Pair that with his Colossus supercomputer a beast humming with 100,000 NVIDIA GPUs and counting and youve got a combo thats tough to rival. This isnt about mere tweets; its about training the smartest AI on the planet. The Bigger PictureMusk has always been a step ahead whether its Tesla zapping the car industry or SpaceX rewriting the rules of space travel. With X, hes done it again, turning a social media gamble into a data-driven dagger aimed at the heart of AIs biggest players. OpenAI might have the hype, Google the scale, but Musks got the now. And in a game where relevance is everything, that could be the ultimate trump card. So, next time you scroll X and fire off a quick post, remember: youre not just tweeting youre feeding the future of artificial intelligence. Musks acquisition wasnt the blunder they called it. It was a pirouette & bow in the data acquisition race and its paying off in spades.Wed love your comments on todays topic! For more articles like this one, click here.Thought for the day:All of the biggest technological inventions created by man the airplane, the automobile, the computer says little about his intelligence, but speaks volumes about his laziness. Effects of Higher Priced Games on the Nintendo Switch 2 Will Become Clearer in Year 2 Analyst
NewsEffects of Higher Priced Games on the Nintendo Switch 2 Will Become Clearer in Year 2 AnalystFor context, Mario Kart World is priced at $79.99 for the digital release, making it the most expensive standard edition of a game so far.Posted By Joelle Daniels | On 04th, Apr. 2025 One of the more controversial parts of Nintendos recent announcements about the Switch 2 has been the fact that its games will now become quite a bit more expensive. The company has announced that first-party launch title Mario Kart World will be priced at $79.99 for the digital version, while a physical copy will be even more expensive with a $89.99 price tag. Circana analyst Mat Piscatella believes that this new pricing has been Nintendos attempts at trying to future-proof itself from the effects of the tariffs that are being introduced by the US. This was done because a company would have a much harder time in raising the price of an already-released product. Rather, Nintendo is pre-emptively releasing the product with a higher price tag. While pricing for a product can always be lowered over time, its extremely difficult and painful to raise pricing on a product once it has been announced or released, said Piscatella in a conversation with IGN. This is purely my own speculation, but this pricing is most easily explained by trying to be conservative given the current chaotic market conditions. Over on Bluesky, Piscatella has expressed thoughts that this new $80 price tag for video games might end up becoming the new normal. He compares this price hike to the cost of groceries going up due to inflation. Only, instead of being a gradual increase in price, the effects are arriving all at the same time. Welcome to the new normal of pricing, US folks, posted Piscatella on the social media platform. But instead of a slow increase over time like weve seen in grocery over the past few years, were going to start seeing things happen all at once. Piscatella also believes that, even with the price hike, sales of Nintendos games and consoles wont really be affected. He owes this to high-income households, as well as price insensitive super enthusiasts that would have bought the product regardless. Effects on sales, he believes, will only start becoming more evident once the Switch 2 enters its second year. Based on what were seeing across the market, sales to higher-income or more affluent households likely wont be impacted by this pricing, Piscatella told IGN. And, of course, we have the price insensitive super enthusiasts that will do and pay whatever it takes to acquire the Switch 2 at launch. Therefore, because of the limited quantities that will be available during the launch year, I do not anticipate this pricing to hinder year one sales volumes. The true test will come in year two, as supply is likely to become more readily available, and the addressable market will be forced to widen. So, well have to see what happens over the next 9-12 months. The Nintendo Switch 2 will be hitting store shelves on June 5 with a price tag of $449.99. Mario Kart World will be available as a bundle with the Switch 2, bring the price up to $499.99. This would essentially make the bundle the cheapest way to grab a copy of the game. Welcome to the new normal of pricing, US folks. But instead of a slow increase over time like weve seen in grocery over the past few years, were going to start seeing things happen all at once. Ive been ensnared into the wild life of a drug dealer in Schedule 1
Theres something wrong with this town; its immediately apparent as soon as I arrive. Ive recently fled my humble desert hometown after my uncle was raided by the cops and his criminal enterprise was seized. Im working on rebuilding the empire here in the sleepy town of Hyland Point, but there are a few problems to deal with. First of all, I need to learn the ropes of how to grow weed, cook meth, and maintain a customer base. Secondly, a rival criminal organization firebombed my RV. Finally, the cops remain a constant hassle. Thats just life in Schedule 1, a surprisingly expansive drug dealing simulator with some wacky twists, all created by a solo developer.Schedule 1 has risen through the Steam ranks and maintains popularity because it has a really satisfying core gameplay loop. Much like Palworld, the first big surprise hit of 2024, Schedule 1 liberally borrows from other simulator games and different genres. I can play single-player, in which case I handle every element of the operation: growing, packaging, selling, expanding. Or I can rope in up to three friends and we can each handle part of the business.Every part of the Schedule 1 drug empire is built around a minigame, most of which are satisfying. For instance, I dont particularly care for cooking meth, but I find managing the supply chain to be satisfying. If I run into any downtime during gameplay, no worries I stole a TV from my motel room and it has some minigames on it, like Snake, Pong, or a game where I play an egg in sunglasses with his balls hanging out. Now this is gaming.Image: TVGS via PolygonEarly on, the main obstacle I have to worry about is the police. Occasionally, an officer will search me, looking for anything illegal. They set up blockades between neighborhoods, demanding to search my vehicle if I hit one. The cops are barely a problem for me, though; I have a 100% success rate at just sprinting away from them at top speed. Even if I shoot an officer, theyll forget everything after a couple of minutes. Weirdly enough, the thing they are firmest on is the town curfew. After 6 p.m., everyone has to get inside, or risk being arrested. Ive found myself hiding in a bush or scared off my patio by a police patrol, who treat curfew-breaking as the worst possible sin. Its like living in a weird Footloose town, except everyones constantly smoking a joint.Life in Hyland Point feels like a very simplified take on the Grand Theft Auto franchise, complete with crass jokes. For instance, a local dining establishment across from my starting motel room is called Taco Ticklers. One customer is tragically dubbed Peter File. These jokes are so unsophisticated, theyre single entendres. If youre not a fan of cheap, lazy jokes, then youll likely find yourself irritated by Schedule 1. The other night, I buckled down to experiment with mixing variants and creating new weed strains, most of which had names like Big Cum or Magic AssBlaster. The graphics are similarly simplified and cartoony, like a basic claymation setup or a 3D episode of South Park. A lot of work has gone into designing the steps of creating drugs via Schedule 1s minigames, but an opening screen warns me that none of it is accurate to real-world processes. Regardless, its satisfying to tinker in my workshop, creating weed with incredible new properties. Eventually, I become a living god in Hyland Point, and my disciples are smoking the dankest blunts imaginable. Some let me sprint faster than any car, and one strain variable even lets me fly. I can buy cars from the local auto dealership, but theres not much point when I have a pocketful of magic weed.Image: TVGSMuch like the aforementioned Palworld, I think this game will eventually become stale and Ill put it back on the shelf. Schedule 1 is an early access game that just came out, and so there are things that just feel incomplete. The police are toothless, the rival syndicate who blew up my RV in the start of the game has yet to reemerge, and the developer maintains a Trello that lists potential ideas ranging from sewer network to weather to cartel fighting.I suspect Ill find myself returning to Schedule 1 as it receives patches, since the core gameplay is so satisfying. While my co-op server has gotten relatively far into creating illicit substances like high-end meth and cocaine, my solo game has stalled as I save up enough money for a larger property. Eventually, Ill have conquered everything Hyland Point has to offer. For now, Im just enjoying the ride, and I expect that trip will only grow richer in time.Schedule 1 is available on Steam for $20, and theres a demo available for free. Ill continue to follow its developer, who goes by Tylers Video Game Studio, as this game already has a lot of strengths. Even if the novelty will eventually wear off, Im content for now to let Tyler cook.Schedule 1 was released March 24 in early access on Windows PC. The game was reviewed on PC using a download code purchased by the author. Vox Media has affiliate partnerships. ASUS ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080 Will Now Feature a Higher 450W TGP, Change Pushed Out Through a BIOS Update
ASUS has released a new BIOS update for their GeForce RTX 5080 ROG Astral model, which has apparently bumped up TGP to 450W.ASUS Has Released a BIOS Update For Its ROG Astral RTX 5080 That Will Increase Power Limits, Now 90W Higher Than Base ModelsIt seems that ASUS knows that its ROG Astral variants have far greater potential, and with the new BIOS update, the company plans to capitalize on this. The GeForce RTX 5080 ROG Astral, in particular, will now come with a TGP rated at 450W, marking a 50W bump from its original figures. It is important to note that the ROG Astral already has a higher TDP than the base GeForce RTX 5080 models, so it is safe to say that with the new increase, power limits have exceeded new levels. The BIOS update was released on March 14, mainly featuring the TGP rating change. While ASUS hasn't specifically mentioned the reason behind bumping up the power consumption, it would likely be to position the ROG Astral model as a top-tier offering and squeeze out the extra performance they can by increasing the limits.Apart from the GeForce RTX 5080 ROG Astral, only Gigabyte's GeForce RTX 5080 Gaming comes with a 450W TGP, which is an interesting choice given that this model isn't seen as a high-end variant. The ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080 will now have higher power limits out of the box, but in terms of performance differences, we aren't anticipating much, likely a 2%-5% increase. So, the decision to increase TGP here won't be of much benefit to ASUS, but it is still exciting to see the company compete for high-end variants in the GPU segment, given that there aren't many left out there.News Source: VideocardzDeal of the Day

Heart Machine's Next Game Isn't At All What I Expected, But I Liked It
At GDC 2025, I watched a walkthrough of one of the early levels of Possessor(s), the next game from Heart Machine. The studio typically goes for action games but mixes in a little bit of something else--2016's Hyper Light Drifter had RPG elements, 2021's Solar Ash was an adventure-platformer, and 2025's Hyper Light Breaker is a cooperative roguelike. Possessor(s) is a metroidvania or, as Heart Machine prefers to call it, a search-action game (which, honestly, is such a better term for the genre).A sidescroller, Possessor(s) sees you play as two characters: Luca, a teenage girl, and Rehm, the demon possessing her. I didn't get to see the events that led to their partnership, but the Heart Machine team explained that the start of Possessor(s) sees Luca caught up in an interdimensional catastrophe that rips a hole in the sky and kills everyone she loves--it's only because of the intervention of the strange horned man now within her that she survives.During Luca and Rehm's journey, they'll encounter objects possessed by feral demons.Rehm also gives Luca artificial legs (I don't know what happened to her original legs, but I assume the full game will clue us in), so that she can jump higher and survive falls from any height, and Luca uses these new prosthetics to navigate the now-quarantined city in hopes of escaping it and learning more about how the catastrophe happened. The duo regularly converse about their substantially different views of demons and the corporation responsible for most everything in the city, alleviating much of the sense of loneliness that I've come to expect in other search-action games.Continue Reading at GameSpot
