Why MCU Fans Think Robert Downey Jrs Hair Is a Doctor Doom Clue for Avengers: Doomsday
MCU fans are known for analyzing footage to within an inch of its life as they hunt for plot clues. Now, they have turned their inquisitive gaze upon Robert Downey Jrs hair. The Iron Man actor recently sent out a Doctor Doom-themed invitation for this 60th birthday party, and as you'd expect it popped up online. It shows the MCU star with slightly longer curly hair; this is not the haircut of Tony Stark, thats for sure.Photos of RDJ at the party itself show the actor sporting a similar curly hairdo, sparking speculation about how his version of Victor Von Doom will look in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. He has this exact hairstyle right now in pictures, redditor Overall_Affect_2782 said. People are going to absolutely freak when it turns out this is his Doomsday look. This is likely a fun little unofficial prototype version of the eventual look that we will see in Avengers: Doomsday, added PhanStr.Erik Voss of the New Rockstars YouTube channel suggested Marvel and RDJ may be taking Doctor Doom in an Oppenheimer-style direction, but from another universe.Others are unconvinced. Based on this and the recent photos, I feel like Marvel just wanted Oscar Issac's hair from Moonknight to play Doctor Doom, joked NerdyDadOnline.Im laughing so hard that people think this is the legit design, declared FewWatermelonlesson0.Of course, this may all be nothing. It seems unlikely that RDJ would spoil Doctor Dooms look in the MCU via a birthday party invitation. But now production on Avengers: Doomsday has begun in London, all eyes are on Marvel for secrets.PlayLast month's Avengers: Doomsday cast reveal was heavy on veteran X-Men actors. Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden are all now set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, confirming the X-Men are in the film in a big way. Grammer famously played Beast in the Fox X-Men franchise before making his MCU debut via The Marvels' post-credits scene. Stewart played Charles Xavier/Professor X in the X-Men films before appearing briefly in the MCU via Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as a member of the Illuminati. McKellen, who played Magneto, has yet to appear in the MCU. Neither has Cumming, who played Nightcrawler, Romijn, who played Mystique, nor Marsden, who played Cyclops. It begs the question: is Avengers: Doomsday secretly an Avengers vs. X-Men movie?Marvel and Robert Downey Jr. have teased theyre not done yet with the Avengers: Doomsday casting announcements, leading fans to believe other superhero stars could be on the way. Halle Berry, who played Storm in the Fox X-Men films, recently cast doubt on her chances of reprising the role.Wesley is the UK News Editor for IGN. Find him on Twitter at @wyp100. • Celebrating 11 BAFTA Nominations for Senuas Saga: Hellblade II with Ninja Theory
Each year, the BAFTA Games Awards celebrate the best of gaming, both inside and outside the UK, and it was a delight to see so many games available on Xbox platforms make their mark on the nominations list for this years awards, which take place on Tuesday, April 8. From games by our own first-party studios, like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Diablo IV, Sea of Thieves and World of Warcraft, to pioneering ID@Xbox titles like Animal Well, Balatro, Botany Manor, and more, theres a huge range of BAFTA-nominated games available on Xbox platforms right now.But today, we wanted to shine a light on Senuas Saga: Hellblade II, which picked up a staggering 11 nominations across a wide variety of categories, covering practically every element of the art of making games, and beyond. Its a major moment for developer Ninja Theory (which previously picked up 9 nominations, winning in 5 categories, for Hellblade: Senuas Sacrifice), a testament to the hard work and care that went into creating this singular experience. To celebrate this moment, we spoke to developers across the studio about the work that went into their nominated category, and what it means to see this recognition.AnimationThe whole animation team was thrilled to be specifically recognised in the Animation category. Were glad that the all the hard work, love and specific vision for Senuas Saga: Hellblade II has been received so well. Our aim was to bring Senua, her cohort and adversaries to life as vividly as possible , whether it was the up-close nuance of an intimate moment between friends or life and death struggle against her deepest fears.Guy Midgley, Ninja Animation DirectorPhoto Credit: Gareth DuttonArtistic AchievementThe team at Ninja Theory has always had such a passion for taking the art to new places in our games, but to have the recognition from BAFTA is incredible and means so much to everyone here. For Senuas Saga we learnt so much on the journey, whether it was getting to grips with new features of UE5 and understanding how they could allow us to present our vision like never before, working with costume designers to build the real-life outfits for us to scan and understand their movements, or training how to fly professional drones so that we could capture meaningful data from the beauty of the Iceland landscape.Mark Slater-Tunstill, Ninja VFX DirectorAudio AchievementTo bring to life the world, the reality of Senua through sound is a privilege, a journey that requires a strong vision and a certain bravery that leads to finding a unique voice. Receiving this nomination brings a lot of joy to the whole Ninja audio team, who have worked tirelessly and with such craftsmanship to deliver an experience like no other.David Garca Daz, Ninja Audio DirectorPhoto Credit: Gareth DuttonBritish GameWere very proud to receive a nomination for Best British Game and have Hellblade II sit alongside such a diverse and creative group of nominees in the category. Best British Game is a particularly special category for me, as I see it as a vehicle for inspiring the next generation of developers in my home country. I like to think that there will be a kid out there somewhere that will see the wonderful games being created in the UK and it will spark in them a dream to one day feel the same pride that I do in receiving a BAFTA nomination of their own.Dom Matthews, Ninja Studio HeadPhoto Credit: Gareth DuttonGame Beyond EntertainmentIn Senuas Saga, Ninja Theory have represented one of the most misunderstood of conditions with incredible skill, respect and sensitivity. Their depiction of psychosis was crafted with unerring attention to the underlying clinical neuroscience and, more importantly, to the personal experiences of those who have themselves carried the burden of psychosis.Ninja Theory have told the story, and amplified the voice, of people who are frequently unheard or dismissed. It has been an enormous privilege to play a small part in their work and to observe the depth and range of its impact in challenging stigma.Paul Fletcher, Bernard Wolfe Professor of Health Neuroscience, University of CambridgePhoto Credit: Gareth DuttonMusicTo tell a story without words that connects the emotions with the listener, that is the quest of all the musicians involved in the creation of the soundtrack for the game. At the core of it is the word collaboration: From Heilung, Ren and Arunka, the fantastic voices and talent of Helen and Abbi, plus our own composers here at Ninja. Its an honour for us to receive this nomination for a work that is done with great passion and care.David Garca Daz, Ninja Audio DirectorPhoto Credit: Gareth DuttonNarrativeOur heroine Senua faces down both inner and outer conflicts with persistence and strength of heart, and I feel fortunate to be part of the team sharing her unique perspective with the world.Storytelling is always foremost in our minds with all of Ninja Theorys games, and Im deeply honoured and grateful that the teams work in this area has been recognised by BAFTA with a nomination in the Narrative category.Lara Derham, Writer and Stage DirectorPhoto Credit: Gareth DuttonPerformer in a Leading Role Melina Juergens as SenuaI am deeply honored to be nominated at this years BAFTA Games Awards as Performer in a Leading Role for my portrayal of Senua for the second time. It means the world to have my work as a performer recognized in such a meaningful way.BAFTA Games Awards play a vital role in elevating gaming as an art form, putting it on the same cultural stage as film and television. Their commitment to celebrating creativity, storytelling, and innovation in games is incredible, and their charity work, supporting new talent and making the industry more accessible is truly inspiring. In Senuas Saga, we managed to push the performance tech further than ever before, which gave me the freedom to pour everything into my performance, knowing that every emotion and every little nuance would come through on screen. It was an incredible and rewarding experience.Melina JuergensPhoto Credit: Gareth DuttonPerformer in a Supporting Role Alds Amah Hamilton as strrIts hard to put into words how much this nomination means to me and how grateful I am to everyone involved in creating this beautiful game, and for allowing me to be a part of that creation. Every step of the process has been an unforgettable experience. Ive made dear friends, learned new skills, worked abroad for the first time, and taken part in making something meaningful. As a gamer from the age of 5, I couldnt have imagined what my future would hold. And to receive this recognition for our work goes beyond what I could ever have dreamed of. This Pebble Beach Residence Is a Golf Lovers Paradise
Generally speaking, no one flexes their creative muscle quite like an interior designer whose clients are easygoing and in for a little fun. Case in point: the latest Pebble Beach, California project by interior designer Kristen Pea, who outfitted the four-bedroom bungalow on the beach with everything from a putting green to a grown-up bunk room overlooking the Pacific. Pea designed the residence, which she describes as a coastal craftsman, for her clients, a retired couple, to enjoy to the max. She explains, This project features my first-ever bunk room, which is even more fun because its intended for adults. I loved the idea of the couple and their friends golfing, enjoying wine, and then retiring to the bunk room at the end of the day. Though Pea created the space with the idea of fun and adventure in mind, she avidly avoided subscribing to trends, making sure it felt authentic to the couple living there. You wont see a white kitchen, scalloped trim, or accent walls here.FAST FACTSDesigner: Kristen Pea of Kristen Pea InteriorsLocation: Pebble Beach, CaliforniaThe Space: A 3,6000-square-foot, four-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom homeI wish everyone would read the memo that one wall of color is not the way to go. Be bold and be brave!FRONT PATIOPea made it an indoor-meets-outdoor oasis. John MerklArchitect: Sam Pitnick. Builder and contractor: Ryan McKnickle. Landscape and fire pit design: Seven Springs Studio.Capitalizing on the friendly climate, Pea decided to create more than one outdoor retreat where the couple and their guests can enjoy the great outdoors. The inspiration for the fire pit is one of the local Pebble Beach golf clubs. The home opens up on both sides, so you can easily take advantage of both outdoor spaces, she explains. Pebble Beach, an enclave on the Monterey Peninsula, is known widely as a top golf destination, so Pea really leaned in with some golf references.John MerklChairs: Summer Classics. Plenty of homes have an outdoor lounge in the back, but only a few feature one in the front as well. Pea wanted to make the most of the fantastic location by using every outdoor nook and crannyeven in the front yard.BACK PATIOIt has any hosts dream outdoor kitchen.John MerklTable and chairs: Gloster. Pizza oven and grill: clients own.The couple may not be professional chefs, but they do like to entertain, which is why Pea outfitted the back patio with a full kitchen, a table for nine, and a state-of-the-art pizza oven. The fact that this space overlooks the Pacific doesnt hurt. John Merkl"Wethe landscape designers at Seven Springs Studio and Iwanted to create a cozy space that is also about community. This home is all about gathering. Whether you want to golf, sit by the fire pit, or enjoy the hot tub, this space offers a bit of everything, Pea notes. Though there is a lot that catches the eye here, the main attraction is Mos Green clock, a sentimental homage to the clients late father, who enjoyed golfing.LIVING ROOMIts a cozy enclave of textures.John MerklChandelier: Ochre. Sofa: A. Rudin in McLaurin & Piercy fabric. Swivel chairs: Una Malan in Zak + Fox fabric. Floor lamp: Dumais Made.Just inside the front door, the formal living room is where a soft palette and touchably soft textures come to thrive. The home is about community, and this room is a comfortable centerpiece for all of the main entertaining spaces of the space. Everything is well-made and beautiful, but nothing is so precious that it cant be enjoyed, Pea says.DENIts a sophisticated spot to watch sports.John MerklPaint: Natural Cream, Benjamin Moore. Sofa and chairs: A. Rudin. End table: custom. Rug: Marc Phillips. Most people use a den to relax and unwind, but this couples den is where the golf viewing parties take place. It has a full bar and access to the upper deck. KITCHENGreen, fittingly, is the hero hue.John MerklPendants: The Urban Electric Co. Backsplash: Ann Sacks. Hardware: Sun Valley Bronze. Stools: Pinch. Faucet: Waterworks. Pea designed nearly every room in the home to serve as a gathering spot, but as is usually the case, the kitchen ends up being the room toward which most people gravitate. This kitchen is well used and loved. It was great to make green the hero hue in this kitchen because, in my experience, everyone seems to want blue. The inspiration for the specific color and texture of the Ann Sacks tiles is from the cypress trees of Pebble Beach. Each tile had a unique color and texture that makes this backsplash special, the designer says. John MerklRange: La Cornue. Table lamp: vintage. Oven hood: custom. Oven hood insert: Zephyr.Obviously, the La Cornue range is the star of the show in this kitchen, Pea explains. I wish I could use that range in all my projectsespecially my own current kitchen renovation. The designer isnt big on trends when it comes to aesthetics, but when it comes to functionality, shes willing to make some exceptions. One such exception is the idea of induction cooking, which the La Cornue range allows for. She says, Induction cooking is a big request right now, and the La Cornue range features an induction cooktop as one of the options.DINING ROOMThe light fixture was a personalized choice.John MerklTable: Jacob May. Chairs: MorningWorks. Pendants: Dumais Made. Rug: Marc Phillips. Each space flows seamlessly into the nexteven if its outside. This is the formal dining room, which opens up to the backyard and is next to the living room, which opens to the front yard, Pea describes. "The highlight of the dining room is the ceramic Dumais Made collection of pendants above the table. The homeowner has an interest in ceramics, so this was a unique way to incorporate that element into this space.John MerklWallpaper: Zak + Fox. Glassware: clientsThis home is chock-full of charming built-in nooks, and the one in the dining room is a favorite. Wallpaper is an opportunity to take a bit of a risk, so thats what we did here with this new custom nook. We chose the wallpaper specifically for the color palette in this case, Pea says. The blue and green hues in the pattern pull from the myriad natural hues available for viewing outside in the rugged nature of the beach.POWDER ROOMIt was an opportunity to go bolder.John MerklWallpaper: Porter Teleo. Mirror: Mirror Home. Pendants: Apparatus. Most of the home complements the serene surroundings outside, but the powder room is where Pea opted for a touch of drama with the moody red wallpaper. The drama of the stone and the drama of the wallpaper together here create a moment, she adds.PRIMARY BEDROOMSweet dreams are made of these colors.John MerklBed: Una Malan. Nightstands: Disc. Chandelier: Ochre. Table lamps: Visual Comfort. Rug: Armadillo. Curtains: Rose Tarlow. Ottomans: Lulu and Georgia. The scale of this primary bedroom gave us the opportunity to go with a four-poster bed, Pea says. Because the homeowner enjoys green, this room was a great opportunity to lean into that and add some colorful moments to the neutral materiality. Plus, theres hardly a shortage of green just outside the windows, where billowing trees sway in the wind.BUNK ROOMThey needed grown-up space for sleepovers. John MerklBed:Custom inZak + Fox fabric. Sconces:Hector Finch. Bedding:Quince.John MerklBeds: custom byK Interiors. Wallpaper:Phillip Jeffries. Window treatment and pendant fabric:Zak + Fox. Bedding:Quince. This may not be a full-time bedroom, but its definitely fun for a few nights. The room is intended for adults, so the bed design needed to be practical. Because the room is rather small, the bunks needed to also be compact, Pea notes. We wanted to create an overnight space for adult guests that felt both sophisticated, playful, and collegiate. Many of the homeowners friends have been close since college.GUEST BEDROOMIts all about palette. John MerklBed: custom, in McLaurin & Piercy fabric. Bedding: Principal's Daughter. Sconces: Hector Finch.Any guests who would rather sleep in their own private suite over the bunk room have this beautiful option overlooking the immaculate landscaping on the side of the house, away from the noise of the seagulls and cars. PRIMARY BATHROOMThe marble slab was a geeky designer achievement. John MerklCountertop: Calacatta Oro. Mirrors, hardware and sconces: Waterworks.John MerklShower walls: Calacatta Oro. Shower faucets and hardware: Waterworks. These Calacatta Oro slabs were one of the first things that we chose for the home, and that entire back wall of the shower is one piece of stone. It was a geeky designer achievement to get it into the space in one piece, Pea says of the enormous primary bathroom. The countertop is a unique profile that we designed in-house that adds a touch of romance to the primary bath.About the DesignerKristen Pea is the founder and principal designer at her namesake firm based in Californias Bay Area. Jony Ives new AI product is not a phone, but might work like one
Longtime Apple design head Jony Ive has largely avoided creating new tech devices since starting his own firm, LoveFrom. But early details on Ives new personalized AI device have revealed the designer could be treading familiar territory in his partnership with OpenAIs Sam Altman.Ives AI product designs are still early, but evoke phone comparisonsStephanie Palazzolo and Jessica E. Lessin write at The Information:OpenAI in recent weeks discussed acquiring a startup its CEO Sam Altman has been working on with ex-Apple designer Jony Ives studio to develop an artificial intelligence-powered personal device, according to two people with direct knowledge of the deal talks. []Designs for the AI device are still early and havent been finalized, the people said. Potential designs include a phone without a screen and AI-enabled household devices, they said. Others close to the project are adamant that it is not a phone. That second paragraph shows how potentially innovative Ives new project is, as The Informations sources seem to have trouble even making a comparison to existing products. The idea of it being a phone without a screen is on one hand absurd, but it also helps indicate the direction of the product. It may not technically be a phone, as certain sources are adamant about, but it may very well work a lot like one.Unlike failed AI hardware such as the Humane Ai Pin, it seems Ives new product could be much more than just a niche companion to the smartphone. Its possible its ambitions are to replace it altogether.Of course, work is still early, and details are scarce. But the early hints point to a device thats very exciting to me personally, truly built from the ground up for the AI age.Its no surprise, then, that OpenAI is considering acquiring io products, the Sam Altman company thats working on the product with Ive. Its already powered by OpenAIs tech, so bringing io into OpenAIs fold makes a lot of sense. What do you make of these early details on Jony Ives new AI product? Elon Musk Breaks Rank, Rages Against Donald Trump's Tariffs
Billionaire Elon Musk and president Donald Trump's long, balmy honeymoon may finally be coming to a close.Over the weekend, Musk lashed out at the architect of Trump's catastrophic tariff policy, which has ravaged international markets and stoked fears of an imminent recession. In a tweet, Musk took aim at Trump's advisor on trade and manufacturing, Peter Navarro a proxy for Trump himself, who continues to stand for his draconian tariffs even as the stock market slides precipitously."A PhD in Econ from Harvard is a bad thing, not a good thing," the mercurial CEO tweeted, replying to a clip of Navarro telling CNN that the tariffs were somehow justified. "Results in the ego/brains>>1 problem."Navarro spent four months in jail last year for contempt of Congress.Meanwhile, Musk attended a meeting with Italian right-wing populist political party Lega over a video link, claiming that he'd like to see a "zero-tariff situation" and a "free trade zone" between Europe and the US, as Business Insider reports."If people wish to work in Europe or wish to work in North America, they should be allowed to do so, in my view," Musk said.In other words, Trump's ruinous economic policy appears to be putting a major strain on his relationship with his once-closest ally. After all, the president's unjustified "reciprocal" tariffs have been disastrous for business and that's putting it lightly.Musk's businesses likely won't be spared, either. Massively rising costs are bound to put pressure on the firms, including Tesla, which heavily relies on foreign supply lines. The company's shares are down nearly six percent already this morning.Tesla is already in crisis mode, with Musk's abhorrent behavior putting major downward pressure on his firm's financials. The company's sales are tanking as consumers are becoming increasingly fed up with the billionaire's extremist views and indiscriminate ransacking of the federal government. As it all goes down, the EV maker's investors have accused Musk of abandoning them to spend more time gutting government agencies with the help of his so-called Department of Government Efficiency.Whether Trump and Musk's relationship will weather this storm of epic proportions remains to be seen. The White House, for one, appears to be keen to stay in the entrepreneur's good graces, even after he hangs up his hat as a "special government employee" in a "few months," according to Trump."Elon Musk and President Trump have both publicly stated that Elon will depart from public service as a special government employee when his incredible work at DOGE is complete," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt tweeted last week.Leavitt was responding to Politico reporting last week that Trump had informed his inner circle that Musk will soon hang up his coat as his number one hatchet man.Could the latest news be what breaks the uneasy alliance between Musk and Trump? In the absence of a major reversal in the president's chaotic trade policy, Musk's businesses are likely to continue to face a brutal bear market, an uncertain fate that's likely leading to some heated conversations behind the scenes. And Navarro, for his part, is responding with a patronizing tone."Look, Elon, when he's in his DOGE lane, he's great. But we understand what's going on here. We just have to understand. Elon sells cars,"he said onFox over the weekend. "And he's simply protecting his own interests as any business person would do."More on Trump and Musk: Trump Reportedly Looking to End Elon Musk's Role in the GovernmentShare This Article

CISA and FBI Warn Fast Flux is Powering Resilient Malware, C2, and Phishing Networks
Apr 07, 2025Ravie LakshmananMalware / Network SecurityCybersecurity agencies from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United States have published a joint advisory about the risks associated with a technique called fast flux that has been adopted by threat actors to obscure a command-and-control (C2) channel."'Fast flux' is a technique used to obfuscate the locations of malicious servers through rapidly changing Domain Name System (DNS) records associated with a single domain name," the agencies said. "This threat exploits a gap commonly found in network defenses, making the tracking and blocking of malicious fast flux activities difficult."The advisory comes courtesy of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), National Security Agency (NSA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Australian Signals Directorate's Australian Cyber Security Centre, Canadian Centre for Cyber Security, and New Zealand's National Cyber Security Centre.Fast flux has been embraced by many a hacking group in recent years, including threat actors linked to Gamaredon, CryptoChameleon, and Raspberry Robin in an effort to make their malicious infrastructure evade detection and law enforcement takedowns. The approach essentially entails using a variety of IP addresses and rotating them in rapid succession, while pointing to one malicious domain. It was first detected in the wild in 2007 as part of the Honeynet Project. It can be either a single flux, where a single domain name is linked to numerous IP addresses, or double flux, where in addition to changing the IP addresses, the DNS name servers responsible for resolving the domain are also changed frequently, offering an extra layer of redundancy and anonymity for the rogue domains."A fast flux network is 'fast' because, using DNS, it quickly rotates through many bots, using each one for only a short time to make IP-based denylisting and takedown efforts difficult," Palo Alto Networks Unit 42 said in a report published in 2021.Describing fast flux as a national security threat, the agencies said threat actors are using the technique to obfuscate the locations of malicious servers, as well as establish resilient C2 infrastructure that can withstand takedown efforts. That's not all. Fast flux plays a vital role beyond C2 communications to also help assist adversaries host phishing websites, as well as stage and distribute malware. To secure against fast flux, organizations are recommended to block IP addresses, sinkhole malicious domains, filter out traffic to and from domains or IP addresses with poor reputations, implement enhanced monitoring, and enforce phishing awareness and training."Fast flux represents a persistent threat to network security, leveraging rapidly changing infrastructure to obfuscate malicious activity," the agencies said. "By implementing robust detection and mitigation strategies, organizations can significantly reduce their risk of compromise by fast flux-enabled threats."Found this article interesting? The Evolution of FinOps Goes Beyond Cloud
Jay Litkey, Governing Board Member, FinOps Foundation and SVP of Cloud & FinOps, FlexeraApril 7, 20254 Min ReadArtemisDiana via Alamy StockOver the last few years, FinOps has become synonymous with cloud financial management, helping organizations optimize cloud spending and usage. As cloud adoption stabilized, the operational framework and cultural practice of FinOps matured.Teams -- representing collaborative efforts between business, finance, engineering, and other groups -- established robust practices, creating a healthy and maturing market. That era established a strong foundation in optimizing the costs associated with public cloud computing. Today, the scope of FinOps has expanded in important ways, going beyond cloud to deliver comprehensive insights into IT spending across SaaS and data centers. Three main trends will continue to move FinOps forward in 2025.FinOps Expands: SaaS and Data CentersBy applying FinOps principles to areas of IT spending in addition to cloud computing, the practice of FinOps is growing. These principles include collaboration; a focus on the business value of technology investments and considering a unit economics perspective; accountability for the costs associated with tech usage; prioritizing centralized initiatives; making FinOps data available in a timely manner; and understanding how variable costs can help deliver value.Related:The operational framework of FinOps now includes two new scopes, to which FinOps practitioners apply FinOps practices. As established by the FinOps Foundation, the new scopes apply specifically to SaaS and data centers. This expansion provides valuable guardrails to keep spending in-check in important ways.SaaS integration: The rise of software-as-a-service (SaaS) brought new challenges, notably subscription sprawl and underutilized licenses. Similar to the challenges of cloud spend, SaaS spend is often exacerbated by decentralized IT purchasing. Companies are applying FinOps principles to manage SaaS spending and optimize its value, extending beyond cloud platforms. This approach can help manage the complexities of varied pricing and licensing approaches.Data center inclusion: As organizations transition to hybrid environments, the need for comprehensive financial management across all domains increases. License portability, bring your own license (BYOL) policies, and the need to manage entitlements across cloud and on-premises systems have become critical. FinOps principles, capabilities and best practices now serve as the data backbone for managing costs and usage across these domains, offering a comprehensive evaluation, rather than letting these areas remain siloed, as has often been the case. By applying the framework of FinOps to include data centers, organizations can move beyond a focus on hardware to a more comprehensive approach suited to the role of data centers as part of hybrid environments.Related:FinOps Meets Innovation: Artificial IntelligenceSpending on artificial intelligence, including generative AI, is the new cloud challenge: opaque, sprawling, and often unmanaged. Fortunately, FinOps provides an effective approach for managing AI-specific resources, such as SaaS-based AI tools (including ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot), private large language models (LLMs), and on-premises resources, such as graphics processing units (GPUs). With ChatGPT, gaining market share and moving into the ranks of a top software vendor based on spend, the urgency to gain insight and control of AI is growing rapidly.Whether it's for skunkworks projects or mainstream enterprise initiatives, FinOps programs now include AI as a core use case, helping address the question of who is responsible for managing AI spend. FinOps practitioners can forecast and estimate the expenses related to AI implementations and workloads across an organization. This can help illustrate the full picture of how AI and GenAI are being used enterprise wide. Its also an important step for minimizing the risks associated with shadow AI, when staff install and use AI products, without informing the wider business.Related:Market Validation: Collaboration Across ITAM, SaaS, and CloudThe market is making it clear: multiple domains require effective collaboration in order to optimize IT environments. FinOps has become that go-to framework for solving the problems that span cloud, SaaS, and on-premises environments. The Flexera 2024 State of ITAM Report, drawing on a survey of more than 500 technical professionals, showed that collaboration between FinOps and IT asset management (ITAM) teams is growing, with 32% of ITAM teams engaging with FinOps in 2024, up from 25% in 2023. As collaboration matures between FinOps and ITAM teams, efficiencies will grow, illustrating (and shoring up) the significant visibility gaps into sprawling IT.This plays an important role for SaaS, including for SaaS-based AI. Cloud optimization maturity is also on the rise, with heavy optimization for SaaS services increasing to 11%, while basic optimization holds at 43%.Collaboration across all of these teams is essential for ensuring that your business is getting value from its technology investments, while actively managing the associated expenses. Evaluating your organizational approach is crucial. Disparate approaches are no longer the answer.Todays business leaders need comprehensive insights into spending, driving an operational imperative for clarity across all IT spending categories. The expanded scope of FinOps reflects the realities of hybrid IT, making FinOps a central player in the financial and operational governance of modern technology ecosystems.About the AuthorJay LitkeyGoverning Board Member, FinOps Foundation and SVP of Cloud & FinOps, FlexeraJay Litkey is a governing board member of the FinOps Foundation and serves as SVP of Cloud & FinOps at Flexera. Movie tropes are inherently neutral and, when used meaningfully and creatively, can help tell a compelling story on the big screen. However, sometimes they get overused, becoming totally clich and annoying to viewers who are tired of watching the same formulaic setups, predictable plot points or tedious gags over and over again. One of the most widely used and agitating tropes movies often employ is that of the love triangle.Though sometimes key to a films story and the main characters arc and growth, such as in Bridget Joness Diary, this largely insufferable narrative device has become a grating fixture particularly in the sweeping, romantic historical drama and teen fantasy/dystopian romance genres, such as the Twilight Saga or Hunger Games series.READ MORE: 15 Annoying Movie Characters Audiences Completely HateElsewhere, situational tropes such as a character's cell phone suddenly getting no service during a tense scenewhich is often used in horror movies and thrillersor a character with a low-paying job being able to afford an impressive apartment sans roommates or financial struggle, are just too unrealistic or distracting.Meanwhile, some tropes are downright problematic, like when mental illness is played for laughs. In the 2000 Jim Carrey comedy Me, Myself & Irene, Carrey's character Charley has schizophrenia, and his unpredictable, sexually deviant and sometimes violent behaviors perpetuate hurtful and false misconceptions about the condition. The film was reportedly slammed by mental health organizations upon its release. While tropes are undoubtedly important cinematic storytelling devices, their overuse can fatigue movie lovers who desire and deserve to see something fresh and clever on screen. Most Hated Movie Tropes From unrealistic makeovers to love triangles and hacking scenes, these 15 overused movie tropes make most viewers roll their eyes, according to Ranker.READ MORE: The 10 Most Ridiculous Action Movie ClichsGet our free mobile app10 Actors Who Played Distractingly Bad Doubles in MoviesThese dual performances are doubly distracting.Gallery Credit: Emma StefanskyFiled Under: Clueless, Die Hard, TwilightCategories: Lists, Movie News, Original Features
