Last week, he announced a new wave of import taxes, which are supposed to help the US economy, in his view. Japan will see 24% tariff rates starting April 9.I don't know about the economy, but the tariffs have already affected Japanese game stocks, according to @serkantoto, the CEO of Japan game industry consultancy Kantan Games.By 10 am on Monday, Sony has apparently lost 10.16% in stock prices, Nintendo 7.35%, Bandai Namco 7.03%, Capcom 7.13%, Sega 6.57%, Koei Tecmo 5.83%, Square Enix 5.23%, and Konami 3.93%."The mobile game companies do even worse," Toto added. The reactions to the news are split. "Maybe tell Japan to drop their silly tariffs. I love how the US gets tariffs from other countries for years and now we fight back and we are the bad guys," says one X/Twitter user. As you can imagine there are plenty of those.I am no expert in this field, so I won't offer any evaluations or business advice, but tariffs and sanctions are rarely good for simple consumers. All we can now do is see where this leads eventually.0 Kommentare 0 Anteile 25 Ansichten

WWW.GADGETS360.COMRussian Kosmos Satellites Release Mysterious Object in OrbitPhoto Credit: Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation Russian satellites launched this year have drawn global attention HighlightsRussian satellites Kosmos 2581, 2582, and 2583 launched in early FebruaryThe satellites are orbiting at around 585 km in a near-polar orbitOn March 18, a mysterious object was released from one of the satellitesAdvertisementA group of Russian satellites launched earlier this year has caught the attention of space watchers around the world. The satellites Kosmos 2581, 2582, and 2583 were sent into orbit in early February from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome. They've been placed in a near-polar orbit, about 585 kilometres above Earth. So far, Russian officials haven't confirmed what these satellites are actually meant to do. But what's really stirred interest is the release of an unknown object from one of them. This new development, spotted in mid-March, has prompted fresh scrutiny from space monitoring teams across the globe. What We Know So FarAccording to tracking data from the United States Space Force and other monitoring groups, the mysterious object appeared on March 18. It was quickly catalogued and, at first, linked to Kosmos 2581. Later on, though, some signals hinted it might be tied to Kosmos 2583 instead. What's clear is that the object was released while the satellites were still active and so far, Russia hasn't said a word about it.Interestingly, before the object showed up, the satellites were seen carrying out what's known as proximity operations basically manoeuvring close to other objects in orbit, which is not something routine satellites typically do.Expert Insight and Possible ExplanationsAstrophysicist Jonathan McDowell from the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics spoke to Space.com about the situation. He pointed out that the satellites had been making deliberate close-range movements, which has led many to believe this isn't just routine activity. As for the object itself, there are a few possibilities. It could be part of a satellite testing programme or a tool for formation flying. There's also a chance it's linked to some kind of military experiment. While a technical malfunction hasn't been ruled out, experts note that accidents like that usually leave behind several bits of debris and that doesn't seem to be the case here.Putting It Into ContextThe Kosmos label has been used by Russia for decades, dating back to 1962. It covers a broad range of secretive military and scientific missions. Triplets like this group aren't unusual either China and the US have also used similar formations, often for surveillance or intelligence-gathering purposes.Still, the exact purpose of Kosmos 2581, 2582, 2583 and now this newly released object remains a mystery. Until more information is released (if it ever is), analysts will continue to watch closely from the ground. MEDIUM.COMWhy the Smartest AI Isnt Always the Biggest: Lessons from the Real WorldWhy the Smartest AI Isnt Always the Biggest: Lessons from the Real World3 min readJust now--1. Big Models, Bigger Hype But What About Results? When you hear AI, chances are youre picturing something massive. GPT-4. Gemini. Grok. These large language models dominate headlines with billion-dollar budgets and training runs that light up entire data centers. But heres the kicker: in the trenches of real-world applications, its not always these giants doing the heavy lifting. Instead, lean, efficient, and highly focused small AI models are quietly taking over and outperforming.2. The Underdogs Are Winning Where It MattersNeed a chatbot that doesnt crash your servers? A voice assistant that replies before your coffee cools? Or maybe an AI that fits neatly on a smartphone or a medical device?Small models deliver.Theyre cheaper, faster, and far more practical in production environments. And while they may not ace every benchmark, they shine in what matters most: solving specific problems well.Think of them like Swiss Army knives compact, reliable, and designed for the job. In comparison, large models can sometimes feel like dragging a supercomputer to do a calculators work.3. But Dont Ditch the Giants Just YetLarge models still play a crucial role not because theyre always the best tool, but because theyre the best research labs. They break things. They push boundaries. They teach us whats possible.Every breakthrough in efficiency, architecture, and alignment often trickles down from these behemoths to power the next wave of small, smart, and scalable AI systems. If small models are the sprinters, large models are the marathon runners that paved the track.4. The AI World Is Starting to Mirror the Tech WorldHistory repeats.Mainframes became PCs. PCs became smartphones. Now smartphones have AI that once needed a server farm. The AI industry is going through its own version of Moores Law but instead of just hardware shrinking, now the models themselves are shrinking. Faster inference. Edge deployment. Domain-specific fine-tuning. Thats where the magic is happening. And its not just a trend. Its a shift in mindset: from showing off power to solving real problems.5. From Labs to Lives: Why Small Models Are Here to StayIn industries like healthcare, defense, logistics, or finance, the requirements are strict. Models need to be fast, reliable, private, and explainable. These are environments where smaller, domain-trained AI thrives because its designed for impact, not just innovation. You wouldnt use a space shuttle to deliver a pizza. Why use a trillion-parameter model for a customer support chatbot?6. So Whats the Future? Hybrid Intelligence. Were heading toward a balanced ecosystem one where massive models unlock innovation and smaller ones bring it to life.In the same way startups leverage open-source projects from big tech and then build lightweight, user-friendly apps AI developers will continue using what giants discover to build tools that the rest of the world can actually use.Its not about picking a side. Its about choosing the right tool for the task.Final Thoughts: Rethink What Smart MeansIn the AI gold rush, its easy to be dazzled by scale. But sometimes, the smartest AI isnt the one that knows everything its the one that knows just enough to get the job done brilliantly. As the AI landscape matures, well see more of this quiet revolution and its happening where the noise is lowest: in hospitals, cars, phones, warehouses, and homes. So the next time you hear about the biggest model ever released, ask yourself: Is it fast enough? Lean enough? Focused enough?Because in this new AI era, small is not just beautiful its essential.0 Kommentare 0 Anteile 32 Ansichten

GAMINGBOLT.COMHorizon Adaptation Has Been Changed from Movie to TV ShowNewsHorizon Adaptation Has Been Changed from Movie to TV ShowAccording to the head of PlayStation Productions, this decision was made in order to make sure that the adaptation was being done right.Posted By Joelle Daniels | On 07th, Apr. 2025 The movie adaptation of Sonys Horizon franchise that was last announced during CES 2025 back in January has now seemingly been changed into becoming a TV show. In an interview with Variety, head of PlayStation Productions Asad Qizilbash spoke about how there is an audience for games being adapted into movies and shows if the adaptations are done right. I think what people have seen in Hollywood is that video game adaptations, if done right, can actually be very popular, and they scale really well. Thats been a big sea change that Ive seen in the last five, six years, since weve really started to come and deliver some great content, said Qizilbash. This desire to do it right, according to him, was what led to the Horizon adaptation being turned from a movie to a TV show. Qizilbash said that it just wasnt creatively going how we wanted to. It is worth noting that changes like this arent likely to have adverse effects on the quality of the adaptation since the production work is likely still in its early stages. Neither Sony nor Columbia, for instance, have confirmed what kind of cast or crew is currently attached to the project. The adaptation will likely be produced in a similar way as what we got to see with HBOs The Last of Us, which was largely faithful to the source material in the games, while also making a few minor changes here and there in order to tell the story in a way better suited for episodic viewing. The Last of Us is getting ready to premiere it second season on April 13. Leading up to this, the show also got a new trailer. In more The Last of Us news, the PC version of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered came out last week. Check out our review for more details. WWW.RESETERA.COMIGN: Nintendo has insisted Mario Kart World & Nintendo Switch 2 Editions justify their shocking $80 price tag.IDontBeatGamesThreadMarksman - Saved Transistor's sanity twiceMemberOct 29, 201720,436New YorkSourceIn his response, Trinen insisted Mario Kart world justifies its price tag, and pointed to the upcoming dedicated Mario Kart World Nintendo Direct where fans will learn more about the game and what it has to offer.Click to expand...Click to shrink..."I would say it's less about the strategy of pricing Mario Kart World, it's more just whenever we look at a given game, we just look at what is the experience, and what's the content, and what's the value?" Trinen said."Mario Kart World, I think especially as you see from the Nintendo Direct, not to give you any hints or anything, but I did read your article this morning and I think you had mentioned that you didn't find a lot to discover when roaming around. So I would say tune into our Mario Kart Direct to see what, maybe you'll be able to find out about that."But honestly, this is a game that is so big and so vast and you will find so many little things in it to discover. And there's still some other secrets remaining that I think as people end up buying and playing the game, they're going to find this to be probably the richest Mario Kart experience they've ever had."Click to expand...Click to shrink...We also asked Trinen about the $80 cost of some of the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games. While there is a $10 upgrade path for existing owners of these games on the Switch, and both The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Nintendo Switch 2 Edition ($69.99) and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Nintendo Switch 2 Edition ($79.99) are available as part of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership, Nintendo is not offering any sort of discount to newcomers on Switch 2. Trinen's answer here echoed his Mario Kart World response, pointing to the value Nintendo sees in its games.Click to expand...Click to shrink..."Well, again, what I would say is that we just look at each individual game and we look at the content and the value of that game, and then we say, 'what is the right price for the value of this entertainment?' " he said."What I would probably counter to some of that is that really what you're looking at is for the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, that's the physical price for somebody that has not bought the base game. For somebody who has bought Tears of the Kingdom or Breath of the Wild, the upgrade packs for those are $9.99. And if you happen to be a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack member, both of the Zelda upgrade packs are inclusive within that membership. So there's no additional charge for those."But I think overall, our general approach is really just focus on what's the content, what's the value, and what's an appropriate price based on that."Click to expand...Click to shrink... As they really highlight the lack of sales/price drops from Nintendo this gen. Especially as these titles CAN be had for cheaper elsewhere. So to me, it just seems odd they didn't do some official "price drops" to perhaps garner some good will. These Switch 2 Editions becoming a $60 version and the Switch 1 versions being made4 $40 would've likely brought some good will towards them. Hell, I would imagine they would've enticed more people to "rebuy" the game fully even if they already had it just to have a new copy on their shelf.JoRuMemberOct 25, 20171,948Jawmuncher said:Personally, I feel that gamers as a collective failed the test that TOTK gave when it was priced at $70 and Nintendo took that info as "If it's one of the BIG Ips, they'll pay an extra $10 on it". WWW.POLYGON.COMSouth of Midnight, Blue Prince, and the other new games out this weekThe new game releases this week give you two choices: puzzles or action. Theres really no in between. Action fans get to fight monsters with magical powers in South of Midnight or take on intense multiplayer heists in Monaco 2. Puzzle fans get to explore an ever-changing mansion in Blue Prince or take the time to unravel the mysteries of The Talos Principle: Reawakened.Itll be a tough decision if you like both genres, because most of these games drop on the same day, but a few of them are less traditional than others. Star Overdrive sticks out in the action category as a game with monsters to fight but also hoverboard tricks to pull off. And Jumping Jazz Cats is a game where the action consists of an army of cats racing to complete minigames. Here are our most anticipated game releases for the week of April 7.0 Kommentare 0 Anteile 30 Ansichten

WCCFTECH.COMJapanese Semiconductor Giant Rapidus Accelerates Efforts On 2nm Process Amid Interest From Google & Apple; Mass-Production Expected By 2027Rapidus, an emerging semiconductor company, plans to scale up its 2nm efforts tremendously in the upcoming years as it sees massive interest from tech giants.Rapidus's 2nm Process Features BSPDN & GAA Technologies, Making It a One-Of-A-Kind Implementation In The IndustryThe semiconductor supply chain has been dominated by the likes of TSMC for quite some time now, and with competitors like Intel and Samsung Foundry making efforts to establish their market share, there's still a long way to go. However, Rapidus, Japan's leading chip fab company, is said to have joined the race for cutting-edge nodes, and according to DigiTimes, the firm has already developed a dedicated facility in Hokkaido, Japan, to reach mass production stages as quickly as possible. It is claimed that Rapidus has seen interest from several industry clients; however, given its goal to maintain sustainable production, the firm will have fewer "long-term" partners. Apart from this, Rapidus is said to have acquired 2nm technology from IBM, and while the company believes it will achieve a breakthrough soon, currently, it is experiencing yield rate issues, mainly due to the 2nm technology being in the research stages. Moreover, the firm is also struggling with operating EUV equipment, which it has just acquired from ASML.Interestingly, Nikkei Asia recently reported that Rapidus has been in contact with the likes of Apple and Google to mass-produce advanced chips, likely through the 2nm process. However, in terms of market competition, the Japanese chipmaker is said to be two years behind TSMC, but the firm claims that it can bridge the delay by providing "more efficient" solutions, although that is yet to be seen for now. Rapidus has reportedly started trial production for the 2nm process this month, with prototype chips expected to tape out by mid-May.A factor that puts Rapidus' 2nm solution apart is the company's use of BSPDN (Backside Power Delivery Network) and GAA (Gate-All-Around) technologies, which are seen to be a first-of-type implementation. Only Intel has managed to integrate BSPDN with their 18A process, and Rapidus follows them, which means that the firm could potentially stand out in the advanced chip segment, given that theDeal of the Day0 Kommentare 0 Anteile 28 Ansichten
