Video game titles like Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV and Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World are too long and I think Nintendo should do something about it
Last week, Nintendo announced a handful of Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of original Switch games, including Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World, Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. What became immediately clear was that game titles like Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World, Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition are entirely too long, and this naming practice needs to stop! These overly wordy titles are not new, of course. Nintendo has published re-releases like Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, and Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition for Switch — these lengthy names help to differentiate these titles from their original versions. Nintendo is navigating a rocky console transition, and is trying to make it explicit which of its older titles have been upgraded to showcase Switch 2’s features. But something has to change. Granted, I’m arguing this mainly from the position of someone who might need to put Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World or The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition in the headline of a story on Polygon, and in most cases, am asked to write short, punchy headlines. Naturally, I find these names — which span upward of 77 characters — to be unwieldy. Can Nintendo not simply add a DX or Deluxe or some other single-word descriptor to these game titles to shorten them? What about return to the DS era, when game companies communicated the platform on which software was released by sticking Dawn of Sorrow, Dual Strike, or Destiny’s Soldier at the end of a title? Can we not just look at a game’s box art, see the words “New Funky Mode” in the upper right corner and acknowledge that we’re getting something extra? Maybe these aren’t great solutions. (I would greatly appreciate alternative suggestions!) And maybe I’m approaching this from an inside-baseball perspective, where I’m loath to ask the people who define our style guide “Hey, do we italicize ‘Nintendo Switch 2 Edition’ in Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV?” But I also think that the solution that Nintendo has landed on is awkward and ungainly, even if we’re only going to get a handful of games named this way as Nintendo transitions from the Switch to Switch 2. But I stand by the claim that, as game titles go, Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World, Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition are entirely too long. Even if Nintendo can’t do something about it now, let it never happen again.

You Can Turn Off Apple’s New AI Features in Mail for Mac
With macOS Sequoia 15.4, Apple fully rolled out all of its new Apple Intelligence features to the Mail app. As such, when you open Mail after updating to the latest OS, the app will look quite different. You'll see new "Mail Categories," a Priority Messages box, and email summaries, the latter two of which are powered by AI. It's not something many asked for, and you might be longing for the Mail app you're used to. But there's good news here: If you don't like these features, you can easily disable or customize them to suit your needs. How to disable Mail Categories on Mac Credit: Khamosh Pathak Apple first added Mail Categories to the iPhone back in iOS 18.2. After a few rounds of updates, it's now front and center on the Mac, too. This feature automatically sorts all your emails into four neat boxes: Primary, Transactions, Updates, and Promotions.Apple's positioning for this feature is a bit weird. While Apple is using on-device processing to sort out these emails, it's not actually an Apple Intelligence feature. So, turning off Apple Intelligence on the Mac won't instantly get rid of this feature, either. The idea is that Apple does all the heavy lifting to figure out which emails are most important and useful, and presents them to you in the Primary box. It mostly works, but it isn't always accurate. Credit: Khamosh Pathak If you want to see all your emails at any given time, swipe right on the trackpad or Magic Mouse while hovering on the Categories tab to switch to the All Mail tab. This tab presents your messages in chronological order, as you're used to.But that might not be enough. If you want to disable the Categories view altogether, click the three dotted Menu button at the top of the Mail list, then uncheck Show Mail Categories. After that, the Mail list will be back to how it used to be.How to recategorize emailIn case you do like this feature and want to keep it around, here's a tip for when things go a bit wrong. In case the Mail app incorrectly categorizes an email, you can take a bit of manual control and point the app in the right direction. Credit: Khamosh Pathak Right-click on an email in the Mail list, then choose Categorize Sender. Here, choose the category where you want the email to end up in.How to disable Priority MessagesWhen you receive a time-sensitive email, or something that Apple deems significant (like an email from your company, or your family member) it will show up in a new Priority box on top of the Mail list. Credit: Khamosh Pathak If you don't like this feature, there's a quick way to disable it as well. Click the three-dotted Menu button on top of the Mail window, then uncheck Show Priority Messages. How to disable AI summary previews Credit: Khamosh Pathak Apple now provides a short summary for each email instead of showing you the first couple of lines. This too, is hit or a miss. Just like Notifications Summaries on iPhone, these Mail summaries can sometimes go horribly wrong, as the app changes the meaning of the message completely. Credit: Khamosh Pathak If you don't like this feature, here's what to do: Go to Mail > Settings (Command + Comma) from the menu bar, and switch over to the Viewing tab. Here, uncheck Summarize Message Previews to get rid of Mail summaries. How to disable all Mail AI featuresLastly, there's the nuclear option. To turn off all AI features in Mail, you can simply disable Apple Intelligence on your Mac. In one fell swoop, you can get rid of the Priority mail box, AI summaries, and the Summary button in emails, as well as hidden features like Apple Intelligence Writing Tools and Smart Replies options. Credit: Khamosh Pathak To do this, open System Settings, go to Apple Intelligence & Siri and disable the Apple Intelligence toggle. From the popup, click Turn Off Apple Intelligence to confirm.Of course, when you do this, you'll also miss out on the new Siri design, Writing Tools, Gemmoji, Image Playground and more. But if you don't care for these AI features anyway, better to just keep them off completely.

Meta wants you to be on your phone during special showings of M3GAN
Horror entertainment specialist Blumhouse is running special screenings of its movie M3GAN where audiences will be encouraged to use their smartphones. Yes, flying in the face of all the warnings and announcements to not interrupt the experience for other viewers, Blumhouse is partnering with Meta to deliver special content during screenings of M3GAN. During these one-night engagements, viewers can use Meta's Movie Mate service to access second screen content, such as a chatbot version of the M3GAN doll, film trivia and behind-the-scenes details. Blumhouse movies Annabelle and Ma are also getting one-night engagements this spring, but those seem to be standard showings where people will get annoyed if you bust out your phone. To take advantage of this tie-in, theater-goers start by sending a DM to the movie's Instagram account. It will also only work for people inside participating theaters, meaning Instagram will likely require access to viewers' location data. "The M3GAN in-theater Movie Mate is a first-to-market moviegoer experience," said Omar Zayat, group lead entertainment, tech, travel, gaming and auto at Meta. "We are happy to introduce filmgoers to it by way of Instagram Direct and Click-to-Messenger Ads. We are thrilled to be working with Universal Pictures and Blumhouse to deliver rich experiences designed to get audiences back into theaters." Buried in all that corporate jargon is an acknowledgement that movie theaters were hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Possibly in an effort to encourage more business, there has been a wave of cinemas allowing or encouraging activities that would normally get you booted from the theater. AMC started hosting special sing-along showings of Wicked because some audience members apparently couldn't stop themselves from doing their best Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande impressions. A Minecraft Movie has also seen disruptive behavior, thanks to fan reactions and the filming of fan reactions hoping to go viral. This article originally appeared on Engadget at https://www.engadget.com/entertainment/tv-movies/meta-wants-you-to-be-on-your-phone-during-special-showings-of-m3gan-220411260.html?src=rss

BTC price: Bitcoin, Ethereum, crypto coins rally on 90-day Trump tariff pause
The price of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies surged after President Donald Trump said he authorized a 90-day pause on tariffs for countries that haven’t retaliated against the U.S. The price of Bitcoin rose about 6% to nearly $82,000, while other cryptocurrencies like Ethereum and Solana jumped more than 10%. Overall, the $2 trillion-plus global crypto market posted a one-day increase in excess of 7%, according to CoinMarketCap. Crypto traders, like traders of other financial assets, welcomed the news Wednesday that Trump has backtracked on tariffs for most countries just days after announcing an aggressive agenda that upended global financial markets. Trump hasn’t relented on levies on goods imported from China; in the same post on Truth Social, he said he’s increasing tariffs on China to 125%. While the trade war with China is far from over, traders instead celebrated that Trump reduced reciprocal tariffs on other countries to 10% during the pause period after a brutal few days of whipsawed trading. Before announcing the pause, Trump posted on Truth Social urging Americans to “be cool” and that “this is a great time to buy.” The price of cryptocurrencies has provided an interesting read on the pro-crypto Trump administration. While cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin rallied in the weeks following his November 2024 election victory, that enthusiasm had already dissipated by mid-January when Trump returned to the White House. Bitcoin bear market In March, Bitcoin entered a bear market, defined as a decline of at least 20% from a high. Even with Wednesday’s gains, the price of the largest cryptocurrency by market cap is still down more than 22% from an all-time high of more than $109,000 just hours ahead of Trump’s second inauguration in January. Since then, global crypto markets have lost nearly $900 billion in value. Meanwhile, the major U.S. stock indices have thus far not entered bear markets, though they were all in bear market territory in recent days. Trump’s announcement Wednesday buoyed stock prices, as the S&P 500 jumped 9.5% and the Nasdaq 100 spiked 12%. Still, while some sense of euphoria has returned to financial markets, some crypto experts caution that it could be some time before these assets recover their losses as the newest traders are being hit hardest by losses. Ki Young Ju, the CEO of CryptoQuant, has predicted the Bitcoin bear market could last as long as six months, for example.
