To commemorate its looing release, Microsoft has released a new trailer to showcase the game. It's exactly what it's trying to be and it's fucking nailing it. It's hard to convey really how incredible the package of theme, visual, and sound this game has. Also the characters are genuinely fantastic. I love all of them so far. It's also dawned on me, there's phrases and feelings of emotions I've heard/gotten out of the first few chapters in this game that I don't think any other game has ever made me feel. That's more of a minority experience really. Also performance on PC is stellar for me. الثلاثي الذي انعقد في الدوحة بين أمير دولة قطر والرئيس الكونغولي والرئيس الرواندي مفاجأة غير متوقعة في الأوساط الدبلوماسية الأفريقية، لا سيما تلك المهتمة بالأزمة في جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية، وفتح هذا اللقاء باب أمل في إمكانية إيجاد حل للأزمة المعقدة التي استعصت على الكثير من الأطراف الإقليمية والدولية التي سعت للحل، كما ألقى الاجتماع الضوء مرة أخرى على جهود قطر الحثيثة للوساطة وقدرتها على حل النزاعات حول العالم، وليس في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وحدها. يأتي جهد الدوحة لحل الصراع في الكونغو الديمقراطية في ظل مبادرات متعددة ومسارات متنوعة بذلها الأفارقة لحل الصراع منذ اندلاعه في أوائل التسعينيات فيما عرف بحرب الكونغو الأولى والثانية، وتصاعده وانتشاره عبر دول الجوار، ويبدو أن جميع المسارات السابقة قد فشلت في إيجاد حل جذري للصراع. فما هي تلك المسارات ولماذا فشلت، وهل سينجح مسار الدوحة في تحقيق نجاح فشل فيه الآخرون؟ مسار لوساكا: في يوم 10 يوليو/ تموز 1999، وقّع رؤساء ست دول هي: الكونغو الديمقراطية، زيمبابوي، أنغولا، ناميبيا، أوغندا ورواندا، وعدد من الفصائل المسلحة على اتفاقية لوساكا للسلام، وتضمنت الاتفاقية وقفًا فوريًا للأعمال العدائية، وتشكيل لجنة عسكرية مشتركة تضم الأطراف المتحاربة تحت رئيس معيّن من منظمة الوحدة الأفريقية (الاتحاد الأفريقي حاليًا)، وتتمثل مهمة اللجنة المشتركة في مراقبة وقف إطلاق النار، ووضع آليات لنزع سلاح المليشيات، ومراقبة انسحاب القوات الأجنبية وفقًا لجدول زمني متفق عليه، بالإضافة لنشر قوات من الأمم المتحدة للمساعدة الإنسانية والمراقبة وحماية المدنيين، ومن ثم الشروع في حوار سياسي بين الأطراف؛ بهدف التوصل إلى نظام سياسي جديد في الكونغو الديمقراطية. إعلان وتم تحديد الحركات المسلحة المعنية بالاتفاق وهي: مليشيا الإنترهاموي وهي من بقايا النظام الرواندي السابق المتهم بارتكاب الإبادة عام 1994، وماي ماي المدعومة من الكونغو، وقوات التحالف الديمقراطي الأوغندية، وحركة يونيتا الأنغولية، وقوات الدفاع عن الديمقراطية البوروندية. كان من المقرر أن يدخل وقف إطلاق النار حيز التنفيذ خلال 24 ساعة من التوقيع، أي يوم الثلاثاء 31 أغسطس/آب 1999، لكن تم تبادل الاتهامات بين الأطراف الموقعة على الاتفاقية، وتصاعدت الحرب الإعلامية، مما دعا حركة تحرير الكونغو إلى إعلان إلغاء وقف إطلاق النار بعد زعم هجوم الجيش الكونغولي على مواقعها، كما تأخر إعلان تعيين رئيس اللجنة العسكرية المشتركة، فضلًا عن عدم توفّر الدعم المالي واللوجيستي للاتفاقية. في وقت لاحق، تم تعيين الرواندي بول كاغامي، برعاية من رئيس جنوب أفريقيا ثابو مبيكي، والأمين العام للأمم المتحدة، في محاولة لإنهاء الحرب الكونغولية الثانية، التي اندلعت في الكونغو الديمقراطية، وتم الوصول لاتفاق سلام بين البلدين قضى بموافقة رواندا على سحب نحو 20 ألف جندي، مقابل التزام الكونغو الديمقراطية بوقف دعم جماعات الهوتو (مقاتلي القوات الديمقراطية لتحرير رواندا المعارضين والهاربين بعد الإبادة الجماعية في رواندا والمعروفين بالانترهاموي) ونزع سلاحها. إعلان يعتبر مسار بريتوريا مكملًا لمسار لوساكا الذي وقع عام 1999، ودعا إلى وقف إطلاق النار وسحب القوات الأجنبية من الكونغو الديمقراطية. ولكن مع ذلك لم تصمد اتفاقية بريتوريا طويلًا، إذ سرعان ما شعر الروانديون أن مصالحهم الاقتصادية والزراعية على الحدود مع الكونغو عُرضت للخطر، وشعر العديد من الأسر الرواندية بالظلم. وقاد فشل مسار بريتوريا إلى توترات دبلوماسية مستمرة بين جنوب أفريقيا ورواندا عبر عدة محطات أبرزها: في عام 2013، ساعدت قوات جنوب أفريقية مشاركة ضمن قوات حفظ السلام في الكونغو الديمقراطية في صد هجوم كبير لحركة "23 مارس" في شرق الكونغو الديمقراطية. وفي Fallout 76 has undergone significant changes over the years, and it continues to evolve through major updates every few months. After recently introducing the Fallout franchise’s first-ever playable Ghoul, Fallout 76’s future updates will introduce fishing, alongside several new balancing changes, and some of these upcoming features are currently available for playtesting on the Public Test Server (PTS) for Fallout 76.

For as tremendous as FromSoftware games are, none of them are particularly good at co-op. You can’t just invite your friend and join a party in Elden Ring. You need to be in the right place, with the right password, while the right stars in the universe align just to hit monsters with your friends. If it wasn’t for the seamless co-op mod by Yui, Elden Ring’s co-op would be borderline unplayable. A few months ago, Yui went back and fixed co-op in Dark Souls 3. And now she’s fixed the most important game in FromSoftware’s history: the original Dark Souls. The first version of the seamless co-op mod for Dark Souls Remastered was released on Thursday. With it, you can play the action RPG that kicked off a whole genre with up to six players. “Simply put, the mod allows you to play with friends throughout the entirety of the game with no restrictions,” Yui wrote in the description on Nexus Mods. In the announcement video, you can see that it works like the Elden Ring version: You use a custom item in your inventory to summon people into your world at any time. Defeating bosses won’t disband the group like it does normally, and everyone won’t be prevented from interacting with NPCs. It just works. “Dark Souls 1 was my first Dark Souls game and it has a special place in my heart,” Yui told Polygon over DMs. “I also believe that the interconnected world of the game makes it a truly great candidate for seamless co-op.” Yui said it was much easier to make than the one for Elden Ring, but that there were a few issues that had to be worked out. Dark Souls came out 11 years before Elden Ring and wasn’t designed to be truly open-world, so players are gated by fog doors during regular co-op. Yui had to work around the game unloading parts of the map when people get too far away from the host, which “took a good amount of reverse engineering to get down,” she said. Even with those roadblocks, it only took her a week to get the mod running. It’s fully functional right now, but Yui said she’ll continue to fix any reported bugs until its flawless. Installing the mod requires unzipping some files into the right place and choosing a unique password for everyone to use. Then you’re free to roam around Lordran with your posse of Chosen Undead. And don’t worry about getting banned. The mod doesn’t touch FromSoftware’s servers and uses separate save files. Your co-op crew is safe.

While finding a particular recipe online serves a quick purpose, flipping through a truly excellent cookbook has a magic all its own. It’s not much of a secret that I like to tinker with recipes. I like to see how different flours create different biscuit textures, how periodic cooking makes the perfect boiled egg, or how sour cream performs as an “egg wash.” There’s great freedom in being untethered to “the right way” to make recipes. Granted, I use recipes all the time, but if I’m missing an ingredient, I’d rather try a work around than go out and buy that one thing. It’s industrious laziness, and I’ve learned so much because of it. Clearly not driven by laziness, Katarina Cermelj has moved from tinkering to full-out scientific experimentation in The Elements of Baking. I’m spotlighting this book for Cookbook of the Week because, frankly, we may all be adapting, omitting, and replacing ingredients in our baking soon. It’s good to have a guide so your brownies and cookies don’t turn out like crap.About the bookThe Elements of Baking is a cookbook designed to help readers make gluten-free, vegan, egg-free, or dairy-free recipes. It is not, however, simply a book with allergen-free recipes. While those are in here, the greatest part of this cookbook is that you can learn how to make any existing recipe into an allergen-free recipe. (Nut-free isn't explicitly mentioned in this book, but I think you can use sunflower seeds when you run into those cases.) Make Junior’s New York Cheesecake recipe into a dairy-free version. Turn your great gram’s Swiss roll into a gluten-free Swiss roll. Whip up a batch of vegan crêpes. Not only is this helpful for folks like myself who are trying to avoid spending extra money at the grocery store, but this is a must-have resource for anyone with dietary restrictions themselves, or for folks who cook for others with dietary restrictions. You can stop endlessly searching the internet for a vegan and gluten-free buttermilk biscuit recipe that may or may not suck. Cermelj has put in the work of testing and documenting all of her free-from recipe successes in The Elements of Baking in informative yet accessible prose. Though, the best part of this book is getting sucked into the science.A great cookbook for baking nerds of all levelsThe Complete America’s Test Kitchen TV Show Cookbook does a good job appealing to us food nerds with all-around practical food whys and hows, but The Elements of Baking is a special gift to those of us obsessed with baking. Katarina Cermelj front-loads the book with information, including the roles different components play in recipes, how to adapt recipes to free-from diets, and ingredient substitutions you’ll need to get your hands on. There’s even a flow chart for adapting existing recipes so you can see which part of the book to flip to. See what I mean? Do not tempt me with a good time. Cermelj doesn’t sugar coat (ha) the truth with free-from recipes. Substituting major ingredients with others can change the product—reducing flexibility, browning, or aeration depending on the swap. But slightly different baked goods can still be just that—good. I really appreciate the thorough case studies and plentiful picture comparisons. You get to see how your dessert should look depending on the version you’re making (maybe a little blonde in color or with more aeration), and cross-sections for cakes so you can check out the crumb's texture.  The different iterations of brownies in 'The Elements of Baking.' You could really skip the whole front section (with the beautiful flow chart and textbook-esque case studies) and jump to Chapter 5. Here the book is broken into color-coded free-from recipe chapters: Gluten-free, Dairy-free, Egg-free, Vegan, Gluten-free Vegan, and finally Frostings, Icings, Creams, and Curds. You don’t need to know how the sausage is made, just get to your chapter and start baking. The treats I baked this week Credit: Allie Chanthorn Reinmann I’ve been testing out egg replacements for cake recently, so I took the opportunity to try out some egg-less cookie adaptations. I navigated the flow chart and found two pathways for non-cakey cookies: ones that spread and ones that hold their shapes. I decided to try both. I decided to adapt my regular peanut butter cookie recipe, and the chocolate chip cookie recipe on the back of a Ghirardelli bag of chocolate chips. The peanut butter cookie doesn’t spread, so that substitution is simply a swapped measurement of milk (dairy or non) for each egg. The chocolate chip cookie recipe is typically a cookie that spreads, so for that recipe I was able to use Greek yogurt as the egg replacement.Both cookies turned out perfectly. The chocolate chip cookie was nearly identical in texture and flavor to the unmodified recipe, and despite how tangy Greek yogurt can be, there was no noticeable flavor from it. The peanut butter cookie was excellent, though it was more crisp and lacked the soft center that the unmodified recipe usually has. Still, if I had a friend with egg allergies, I don’t think I’d hear any complaints. Although I haven't had a chance to try them yet, I look forward to testing out the gluten-free bread recipes in this book. It hasn’t been that long since the Pixel Watch 3 dropped, but excitement is already building for the follow-up device. An industry leaker who goes by OnLeaks, whose real name is Steve Hemmerst, has partnered with 91mobiles to publish images and a video render of the upcoming smartwatch Surprise, it looks like a Pixel Watch. It maintains the iconic circular design, though does look a bit thicker than the previous model. The screen bezels appear to be slightly slimmer. Otherwise, the design remains mostly unchanged. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. However, there are some minor hardware changes that allude to new features. The watch is missing the four pins at the back, which suggests that it could support wireless charging. The Pixel Watch 3 charges via a USB-C port. Also, there are two buttons on both sides of the speaker. We don’t know what they do. It’s also possible that the added thickness could be hiding a bigger battery, which would be much appreciated.
