Text description provided by the architects. The school building of SO Lux on the Stauntonstraat in the Utrecht district of Zuilen was realized in 1973 and no longer meets the current wishes for special education in terms of spatial and functional aspects. In addition, the building is very outdated. It has been decided to renovate the building. The current school is characterized as a single-storey building that extends over the entire location in two wings. Due to these low buildings, the function of the building is difficult to read, and there is no clear recognition of an entrance. In the school, the group rooms are adjacent to long corridors without a 'heart' or meeting space. The design was developed from the existing cross-section. The corridor zones on Stauntonstraat are lower than the adjacent group rooms. By organizing all the new installations here, we can reach both the corridor zones and the group rooms and the insulated shielding of these creates a new façade that we use for the architecture.Save this picture! The façade is pulled around the building like elastic bands and, in addition to being eaves, also functions as a canopy or connecting element. Where on Stauntonstraat the extensions dominated the façade, attention now goes to the in-between spaces, the patios, which form a beautiful transition between corridor and public space. Where the two building wings meet, we open up the space again for a beautiful meeting space that connects the two outdoor spaces. At this location, the canopy literally connects both wings into one school and forms a covered outdoor space for dry play and as an extension of the meeting space. Where the canopy is pulled up in a flowing line, we hide the installations on the roof and mark the new main entrance. Prominent, visible and proud on the Stauntonstraat.Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture! The main load-bearing structure of the school consists of masonry columns with a load-bearing wall every three grids. In the design, the group rooms are reduced to two grids for the small groups in which lessons are taught. The third grid forms the link with the adjacent group room and includes a side room and a toilet room that is directly adjacent to the group room. This way, the teacher maintains an overview of the group. Around the main entrance are the offices where we have housed the more specialist care, such as speech therapy and play supervision, in the existing extensions. The team room is somewhat sheltered, adjacent to the new heart.Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture! An air heat pump is used to heat the school. The group rooms are heated by underfloor heating with additional preheated air from a central air treatment. For the gymnasium, a Frenger ceiling provides heating/cooling with a separate air treatment for ventilation. Together with the optimisation of the thermal shell, the school meets the ENG criteria in accordance with the current Building Decree 2012 (new construction).Save this picture! WWW.POPSCI.COMHow to use Plex to create your own private Netflix or SpotifyPlex can help you set up your own streaming service. Image: Plex Get the Popular Science daily newsletter💡 We’re now well used to on-demand content that we can access at the push of a button or a tap on a screen. Netflix, Spotify, and all the other services have vast catalogs of content stretching back decades, all available for a flat monthly fee. There is still value in creating your own local media library, though. It means the movies, shows, and music you collect belong to you. And it means you can be sure of what’s available, without any of your selections disappearing month to month. Plex is a suite of software apps that let you create your own library of content on a Windows or Mac computer, which you can then stream to all your other devices—whether that’s a laptop in a different room or a phone in a different country. The Plex basics are all free, with a Plex Pass subscription (from $6.99 a month) available if you want features like streaming outside your local Wi-Fi network, offline downloads, and more customization controls. How to set up a Plex server New media files can be added via a simple web-based interface. Screenshot: Plex You don’t actually need any local media to use Plex, because it also comes with hundreds of free movies and shows you can watch with ads, as well as Live TV channels. To create your own personal streaming service, though, you’ll need some video and/or audio files saved on your computer. We’ll leave it to your own ethical judgment as to how you get ahold of these files. Some services offer legal downloads, while you might consider yourself within your rights if you make a backup of a DVD or Blu-ray you’ve paid for—if that backup is for your own personal use on Plex. Check the copyright laws in your country and act accordingly. Plex works best if you can get all of your content organized into folders on Windows or macOS, so we recommend having folders for specific TV shows or music artists, for example. The software uses the metadata stored with the files and information from the web to keep everything correctly labeled and accessible. With some content you work with, you’ll need to download the Plex Media Server software for either Windows or macOS. Follow the instructions on screen to get it set up, and register for a free Plex account if you haven’t done so already. You’ll be taken to a web-based interface that lets you pick the files you want to make available, split into libraries (such as Music and Movies). You then click Browse For Media Folder to tell Plex which folders all your media files are stored in, and the software gets to work. If you’re adding a lot of content at once, it may take some time for everything to be properly organized. To edit your library (to add more file folders, for example), click your profile picture (top right), then choose Libraries. How to connect to Plex Plex looks like most other streaming apps—but it’s your own personal library. Screenshot: Plex Note that you’ll need to leave your media server computer turned on and the Plex media server app running; otherwise you won’t be able to get into your library. The streaming quality is going to vary based on your home internet, and the quality of the signal you’re getting on your other device—you might want to consider plugging your media server laptop or desktop directly into your home router if you can. With your media server created, you can then think about streaming the video and audio content in your library to other devices. Part of the appeal of Plex is that it has official apps for a whole host of devices, including Android and iOS, Playstation and Xbox consoles, and streaming boxes such as the Apple TV 4K and the Google TV Streamer. You can find the full list here. Launch the Plex app on any device, and you’ll be prompted to sign into your account—this connects the app to the media server you’ve already created. The various interfaces for all the Plex apps are easy to get around and pretty consistent across platforms: You’ll notice you can access the free movies and shows offered by Plex as well as your own library. On Plex for iOS, for example, you can access your movies, shows, and music by tapping on the Libraries button at the bottom of the screen. You can switch between your libraries using the drop-down menu at the very top of the screen, and use the filter buttons immediately below that to control what’s shown. Tap Categories, and you can browse through different genres. All the features you’ll be familiar with from other streaming services are included in Plex. You can create a watchlist of what you want to watch next, for example, or mark items as watched or unwatched. Plex uses online databases to match the content you’ve added too, so you’ll get plenty of information about the movies, shows, and music in your libraries as you browse around.0 Yorumlar 0 hisse senetleri 39 Views

WWW.GADGETS360.COMHydrogen Gas Cloud Might Help Solve the Mystery of Missing Non-Dark Matter of the UniversePhoto Credit: NASA/CXC/M.Weiss; NASA/CXC/Ohio State/A Gupta et al Ionised Hydrogen Gas Cloud Could be Hiding the Universe's Missing Matter, Scientists Say Highlights Biologists have discovered microplastics on caddisfly casings Microplastics were discovered on the casing, dating back to the 1970s Long-term contamination of the environment has been identified Advertisement It is observed that about half of the matter cannot be occupied just by stars and galaxies. Scientists say that hydrogen gas clouds could unveil it. Missing matter of the universe may have finally been detected. It is reported by the astronomers that the stuff revealed and not dark matter accounts for only 15 percent of the total mass of the universe. For years, scientists have rushed into a problem, and they have not been able to find even about half of the normal matter in the galaxies, stars, and other space structures that can be seen.Research and DiscoveryAt present, a large international team of researchers led by Simone Ferraro from the University of California, Berkeley, concluded that the hydrogen gas cloud that surrounds most galaxies is more extensive than previously realised by scientists. The extensiveness is so high that it could even be responsible for most of the universe's missing matter, according to the study, which is published in the online pre-print journal arXiv.The hunt for the Missing MatterThe researchers used data from the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) for the investigation. With this instrument, the team piled images of approx. 7 million galaxies for measuring the mild halos of ionised hydrogen gas at the edges of the galaxies, which cannot be observed by normal methods. So the team analysed the remaining radiation from the Big Bang that is widespread throughout the cosmos. If these faint halos connect the other galaxies, there will be a cosmic web spanning far and will account for the undetected matter in the past.Black Holes on DutyThis discovery may also change the perspective on the black hole behaviour. Scientists at first thought that blackholes forced out a high volume of gases early in their life cycle. At present, the study says that these black holes are much more frequent in action than earlier thought. Boryana Hadzhiyska, an astronomer, said in the statement that one of the hypothetical theories is that the black holes switch on and off in their duty cycle.Future ScopeThe next step is to use new measurements in existing universe models. Hadzhiyska said, there are many people interested in using our measurements for doing a thorough analysis, including this missed gas.
