More than 100 Yale professors have called for an audit of the university's sprawling bureaucracy. The audit, they say, would "preempt potential federal intervention" and send the message: "Yale prioritizes intellectual vitality over bureaucratic inertia."

Motorola Adds New Features to Moto AI; Teams Up With Google, Microsoft and Perplexity
Motorola announced major upgrades for Moto AI, the company's in-house artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot. Announced on Thursday, the Lenovo-owned brand is adding four new AI features to Moto AI — Next Move, Playlist Studio, Image Studio and Look and Talk. Additionally, the company is also partnering with major AI players such as Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Perplexity to integrate their offerings into Moto AI. The integration also includes a free three-month trial of Perplexity Pro and Google One AI Premium subscriptions for eligible devices.Moto AI Chatbot Remains in Beta TestingIn a newsroom post, Motorola said that it is expanding the use case of Moto AI, which was released as an open beta programme in December 2024 for select devices, as well as shipping it to more users. The chatbot still remains in beta. Moto AI is currently available on the latest generation of Razr and Edge devices. The company claimed that thousands of users participated in testing Moto AI and its existing features — Catch Me Up, Pay Attention, and Remember this. However, it also received feedback that users wanted “more guidance on matching the right features with the right moments.” Based on the feedback, it is now refining existing features and adding new experiences.Next Move is one of the new features eligible Moto AI users will see on their device. It will show users personalised recommendations based on the content on their screen. The company says the AI feature will suggest next step suggestions for them to explore and help them learn more about what AI can do for them, and adapt to it.Playlist Studio, another new introduction, uses on-screen content or a user prompt inside the Moto AI app to curate a playlist for users. The company says users can ask the chatbot to make the playlist highly specific. For instance, users can ask Moto AI to create a “Pizza night Y2K jams” playlist and get a list of curated songs.Moto AI is also adding a new Image Studio feature. It is a text-to-image generator that can create images, avatars, stickers, and wallpapers. Moto AI will also let users share visual content with messaging apps and social media.Look and Talk is currently only available to the Moto Razr 60 Ultra (Razr Ultra in the US). Even when the foldable smartphone is in stand or tent mode, users can look at the screen and get immediate assistance from Moto AI. Users can also communicate with the chatbot via voice and receive verbal responses.Motorola Announces Partnerships With AI PlayersMotorola is partnering with Google to integrate Gemini and Gemini Live into its devices. Razr series smartphones will also let users access the chatbot from the external display. Apart from this, the company is offering a three-month trial of the Google One AI Premium plan, which includes access to Gemini Advanced, Gemini in Workspace platforms, and 2TB of cloud storage. The free subscription will be offered to those who purchase one of the eligible devices. These include the Motorola Razr 60 series, Razr 50 series, Razr 40, Edge 60 series, and Edge 50 series. The company is also partnering with Meta to make its Smart Connect app available on the Meta Horizon Store. This allows Meta Quest users to check their messages, favourite apps, and more right from the mixed reality headset.Microsoft's Copilot is also being integrated with the Motorola Razr Ultra and the Edge 60 Pro. With this, users can access the Copilot chatbot directly via Moto AI.Finally, the Lenovo-owned company is also integrating Perplexity's AI search engine within Moto AI. When users make web search-based queries, the chatbot will show the “Explore with Perplexity” option. If they select it, the company's AI search will generate a comprehensive response. In addition, all Motorola devices launched after March 3 will offer a three-month trial of the Perplexity Pro subscription. This offer will only be available to new Perplexity Pro subscribers. For the latest tech news and reviews, follow Gadgets 360 on X, Facebook, WhatsApp, Threads and Google News. Baidu ERNIE X1 and 4.5 Turbo boast high performance at low cost
Baidu has unveiled ERNIE X1 Turbo and 4.5 Turbo, two fast models that boast impressive performance alongside dramatic cost reductions. Developed as enhancements to the existing ERNIE X1 and 4.5 models, both new Turbo versions highlight multimodal processing, robust reasoning skills, and aggressive pricing strategies designed to capture developer interest and marketshare. Baidu ERNIE X1 Turbo: Deep reasoning meets cost efficiency Positioned as a deep-thinking reasoning model, ERNIE X1 Turbo tackles complex tasks requiring sophisticated understanding. It enters a competitive field, claiming superior performance in some benchmarks against rivals like DeepSeek R1, V3, and OpenAI o1: Key to X1 Turbo’s enhanced capabilities is an advanced “chain of thought” process, enabling more structured and logical problem-solving. Furthermore, ERNIE X1 Turbo boasts improved multimodal functions – the ability to understand and process information beyond just text, potentially including images or other data types – alongside refined tool utilisation abilities. This makes it particularly well-suited for nuanced applications such as literary creation, complex logical reasoning challenges, code generation, and intricate instruction following. ERNIE X1 Turbo achieves this performance while undercutting competitor pricing. Input token costs start at $0.14 per million tokens, with output tokens priced at $0.55 per million. This pricing structure is approximately 25% of DeepSeek R1. Baidu ERNIE 4.5 Turbo: Multimodal muscle at a fraction of the cost Sharing the spotlight is ERNIE 4.5 Turbo, which focuses on delivering upgraded multimodal features and significantly faster response times compared to its non-Turbo counterpart. The emphasis here is on providing a versatile, responsive AI experience while slashing operational costs. The model achieves an 80% price reduction compared to the original ERNIE 4.5 with input set at $0.11 per million tokens and output at $0.44 per million tokens. This represents roughly 40% of the cost of the latest version of DeepSeek V3, again highlighting a deliberate strategy to attract users through cost-effectiveness. Performance benchmarks further bolster its credentials. In multiple tests evaluating both multimodal and text capabilities, Baidu ERNIE 4.5 Turbo outperforms OpenAI’s highly-regarded GPT-4o model.  In multimodal capability assessments, ERNIE 4.5 Turbo achieved an average score of 77.68 to surpass GPT-4o’s score of 72.76 in the same tests. While benchmark results always require careful interpretation, this suggests ERNIE 4.5 Turbo is a serious contender for tasks involving an integrated understanding of different data types. Baidu continues to shake up the AI marketplace The launch of ERNIE X1 Turbo and 4.5 Turbo signifies a growing trend in the AI sector: the democratisation of high-end capabilities. While foundational models continue to push the boundaries of performance, there is increasing demand for models that balance power with accessibility and affordability. By lowering the price points for models with sophisticated reasoning and multimodal features, the Baidu ERNIE Turbo series could enable a wider range of developers and businesses to integrate advanced AI into their applications. This competitive pricing puts pressure on established players like OpenAI and Anthropic, as well as emerging competitors like DeepSeek, potentially leading to further price adjustments across the market. Marathon Features Aim Assist on Mouse and Keyboard to Help Parity With Controller Users – Bungie
News Marathon Features Aim Assist on Mouse and Keyboard to Help Parity With Controller Users – Bungie Developers have explained that the aim assist features of Marathon are currently still an experiment, and that it will be iterated on. Posted By Joelle Daniels | On 25th, Apr. 2025 During its recent live-stream for Marathon where developers answered questions from the community, Bungie has revealed why it decided to add aim assist for players that use mouse and keyboard, rather than restricting it for controller users. In the video, when asked about the decision to have aim assist only be a toggle regardless of the input device, the developers said that it was a new thing the studio was trying in order to give itself more ways to tinker with the game’s balance. The decision was also made to keep parity between keyboard and mouse players and controller players in terms of skill ceiling. Typically speaking, aim assistance is disabled for mouse and keyboard users, while controller users tend to get a slider that allows them to decide what level of assistance they would like with their aim. “This is like something we’re trying out as a lever to keep the parity close between mouse and keyboard and controller,” answered a developer. “We want to get it out and get a feeling for it. Right now we don’t think it’s in the most perfect spot or anything. We’re definitely trying to get folks’ reactions to this as a lever for getting parity without losing the skill ceiling and skill expression that you get with the input of your choosing, whether it be mouse and keyboard or controller.” “That’s why it’s a setting to go on and off. We definitely know that there’s players that definitely don’t want any kind of assistance at all with their aim, and they want that raw input feel. So that’s why it’s a toggle in the menu, We’re not trying to have it be must-pick kind of thing. Folks kind of feel differently when they play, and we’re looking to get that feedback and then tune aggressively accordingly with what it falls in line with their expectations.” “This is us getting this thing out there to get some thoughts on, and then iterate from there.” Marathon‘s take on aim assist has been getting quite a bit of criticism from players that have been taking part in the game’s current alpha. Some have taken to Reddit to voice their displeasure with the feature, with one example being Reddit user Carmelo_v talking about how heavy-handed the aim assist feels even on mouse and keyboard. Twitch streamer Shroud, known for playing competitive first-person shooters, has also criticised the aim assistance in the game, saying that the feature is making the PC version worse in its attempts to have more parity in terms of gameplay between keyboard and mouse users and controller users. “I get that they’re trying to balance between console and PC for crossplay, but it’s only going to ruin the PC part of the game,” said Shroud during a stream. “You’re basically trying to help PC be balanced against console, but you’re just watering down PC.” Marathon is slated for release on September 23, and will be coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. While Bungie hasn’t yet confirmed the title’s pricing, the studio has said that it is “definitely going to be a conversation.” Rumours, in the meantime, have indicated that Marathon will launch with a $40 price tag. NexusMods changes course: they'll now allow chuds/nazis to post their mods
Albatross Member Nov 11, 2017 226 As you may remember, for a while NexusMods (the largest gaming mods website) has been refusing to host far right mods, like the ones removing LGBT content or pronouns choices. PCGamer: Nexusmods bans mods replacing Pride flags: „We don‘t want to and won‘t argue this with you“ More: https://www.pcgamer.com/worlds-biggest-mod-site-bans-mods-replacing-pride-flags-we-dont-want-to-and-wont-argue-this-with-you/ Apparently what‘s actually more pathetic is that this isn‘t even a „mod“, it‘s literally part of the game - it simply sets the localisation flag (or they pulled... www.resetera.com Few days ago, Oblivion Remastered launched and, to the horror of the chuds, it has Type A / Type B body selection instead of Female/Male during the character creation. Extremely triggered by this, they immediately made a mod to "fix" this huge problem. Initially NexusMods removed it quickly, but after the nazi's outcry they cowardly decided to reinstate it (and also protecting it from criticism and reports). This mod has been, and likely will continue to be, a source of controversy within the community. After a thorough review, we've determined that the content of the mod itself does not violate our community guidelines. However, due to the nature of the topic, which often attracts intense and sometimes hostile discussion, the comments section will remain locked to prevent further escalation. Why was the original upload removed? There has been a lot of speculation and misinformation regarding the removal of the original upload. To clarify: the mod was not taken down because of its content. As stated in the ban notice, it was removed due to the uploader's behaviour. In the comments, the uploader expressed an intent to incite drama and endorsed an external site explicitly designed to host inflammatory content. This kind of behaviour directly violates our community standards. We recognise that mods like this can bring sensitive discussions around gender and identity to the forefront. While these are important conversations, our platform exists to support creative expression in modding, not to serve as a battleground for broader cultural or political debates. What we will not tolerate is trolling, harassment, discrimination, or any other form of toxicity that these discussions may provoke. Our commitment remains the same: to keep modding accessible and welcoming for everyone. Please note: Any reuploads of this content - or any derivative content intended to circumvent this policy - will be removed. Abusive behaviour in comments or posts will result in moderation actions. There is no need to report this mod page. If you'd prefer not to see this content, we encourage you to make use of the content-blocking tools by blocking the "Real World Issues" tag or the author "7H3LaughingMan". Click to expand... Click to shrink... They now say that the mod itself was never against the rules, but that clearly contradicts their own guidelines about inappropriate content: Files that remove gender identity including pronouns from a game that have been intentionally put in place by a game developer, when the removal is clearly to be divisive or cause hostility within the community or marginalise specific group(s). Click to expand... Click to shrink... So now it's clear that any hateful mod will be allowed, as long as the author doesn't make it explicit in the description that the mod is made with the intent of "incite drama". They also say that, if you don't want to see this kind of mods, you should block the "Real World Issues" tag, which is also ridiculous because it's a tag that is also used for mods that *add* LGBT content, putting the two on the same level.  thepenguin55 Member Oct 28, 2017 13,939 the normalization happening with this shit is horrifying   nsilvias Member Oct 25, 2017 29,600 probably has new management   rsfour Member Oct 26, 2017 19,253 nsilvias said: must have new management Click to expand... Get kick-ass FPS throwback RoboCop: Rogue City before it leaves PS Plus soon
The endless sprawl of modern action and action-adjacent games is a common source of frustration for me. While I admire the detailed, expansive worlds some of these games evoke, sometimes I just want to play a level-based game that feels like the slimmed-down action adventures of my youth. Which is why I was absolutely delighted with RoboCop: Rogue City, a fun first-person shooter with very little excess, pushing you repeatedly into the action. It’s currently one of PlayStation Plus’ April games, and it is free to download for PS Plus members until May 5. Grab it now, and it will stay in your library as long as you remain a member. (And if you’re not, it’s also currently on sale on Steam!)Rogue City recreates the kitschy charm of Paul Verhoeven’s all-time sci-fi classic, with a dark sense of humor, a heaping of extreme violence, and Peter Weller returning to voice Alex Murphy/RoboCop. I could tell you about the game’s narrative or setting (taking place in between RoboCop 2 and 3), but none of that is all that relevant to your enjoyment. The strength is in its gameplay, with satisfying shooter mechanics that play to RoboCop’s extreme power. Enemies go flying when you shoot or punch them, giving the game a strong mix of power fantasy and physics-based humor. In contrast to the massive open-world RPGs that often dominate the single-player game ecosystem, it’s really refreshing to play a well-executed game that feels like a collection of closed levels. Yes, there is a minor open-world element, but it’s not too intrusive, and my lack of engagement with that element of the game didn’t hinder my enjoyment. Instead, RoboCop: Rogue City reminded me of the kind of goofy arcade shooters I used to play with my brother at a laser tag spot, quickly moving from level to level and dispatching enemies with aplomb. With a 2D side-scrolling Terminator 2 game around the corner, I hope this suggests the start of an era of nostalgic adaptations that actually use that nostalgia to bring back older (and successful!) approaches to game design. A stand-alone sequel, RoboCop: Rogue City - Unfinished Business, is officially on the way, so at the very least, there will be more satisfying RoboCop action in store for us in the near future. Nintendo Switch 2 NVIDIA DLSS Delivers Impressive Upscaling From 540p to 1080p in Street Fighter 6
Menu Home News Hardware Gaming Mobile Finance Deals Reviews How To Wccftech Gaming Nintendo Switch 2 NVIDIA DLSS Delivers Impressive Upscaling From 540p to 1080p in Street Fighter 6 Francesco De Meo • Apr 25, 2025 at 08:38am EDT NVIDIA DLSS support for the Nintendo Switch 2 is set to be a massive game-changer for the upcoming system, as the AI upscaler is already delivering impressive results upscaling low base resolutions to 1080p. In a recent hands-on report going over the system and both first and third-party games, the tech experts at Digital Foundry had the chance to try out the Nintendo Switch 2 port of Street Fighter 6, among other games. The game is the first taste of a game powered by CAPCOM's RE Engine on the system, and it seems like it delivers on all fronts, sporting stable 60 FPS gameplay in docked mode with some visual cutbacks in line with those featured in the PlayStation 4 and Xbox Series S versions over the others. More interesting, however, is that the game is not running at native 1080p resolution as early analysis of the available footage suggested, but at 1080p resolution upscaled from base 540p resolution with NVIDIA DLSS. Given how clean the image looks, this is extremely impressive. The Street Fighter 6 Nintendo Switch 2 port is not the only impressive third-party port that will launch with the system in a little over two months. Much like the CAPCOM game, Cyberpunk 2077 has also been confirmed to use a "version" of NVIDIA DLSS available for the hardware powered by Tensor Cores. The upscaler is reportedly used for all the game's display modes in both docked and handheld modes. The Nintendo Switch 2 launches on June 5th worldwide, with some exceptions.
