• What is the gameplay like in Infinity Nikki?
    www.polygon.com
Youll start Infinity Nikki in a pretty straightforward story, but at its core, its a gacha mobile game. That means Infinity Nikki comes with all the expected systems: rolling for outfits, stamina that replenishes over time but has a cap, and some kind of upgrading system. However, as you play, you may wonder what the deal is with all of this.If youre familiar at all with similar open-world gacha games like Wuthering Waves, Genshin Impact, or Tower of Fantasy, youll know that after you catch up to the story, youll find yourself in the same gameplay loop. You use your stamina to farm for materials to upgrade your characters and weapons. After beefing things up decently, youll start farming for individual equipment pieces that get randomized stats when upgrading thus creating a somewhat infinite grind. Is this the same in Infinity Nikki? Well, kind of.(Note that this information is from a closed beta that we played shortly before the game launched, so there may be slightly differing information in the live version of the game.)Whats the combat like in Infinity Nikki? The combat in Infinity Nikki is extremely simple. Nikki can blast orbs at enemies. Most enemies you find around the world can be one-shot, with some needing two hits. There are boss fights where youll need to dodge attacks, wait for an opening, and then attack at the right time but theres no way to get through these fights any quicker by dealing more damage. Nikkis attacks appear to do a set value and you dont upgrade her gear to dish out more damage. So why am I leveling up my outfits in Infinity Nikki? You do need to beef up Nikkis clothes for a different reason. Rather than adding offensive stats to clothing, youll need to upgrade its visual stats in order to complete more difficult styling duels.Youll need to complete a few lower-level styling duels as you play through the story, but there are several optional factions to take on around the world. Youll be presented with challenges, and after completing enough of them, youll be able to take on a big boss for rewards like Diamonds (the premium currency) and even recipes to craft more clothes. Some of the early styling duels can be done with default clothes at low levels, but you will need to improve your stuff in order to fully complete some of the later duels. This is where the gameplay loop comes in. You can only upgrade your clothes so much, and youll need to raise your Mira Level (your player level) to lift that upgrade cap. Spending stamina (called Vital Energy) and completing quests will net you loads of EXP to raise your Mira Level. Are there randomized stats and equips I need to farm in Infinity Nikki? Not really. Theres additional equipment called Eureka that youll want to collect to further your styling duel points. These are collected via spending stamina at warp spires and you can level them up to add more stats to them. While their color will randomly change when theyre maxed out, it didnt appear that the stats rolled randomly the way that stats do in the aforementioned gacha games, so you can safely just grab one of each (or more, if you want a specific color), without having to farm these for ages. So, no, there are no randomized stats, but yes, there are equips youll want to collect. In a way, you are doing the aforementioned gameplay loop that lines up with those other open-world gacha games. You are leveling up gear and whatnot, though the method, reason, and grind is just quite different. That is to say, you dont really have to do any of this. You can spend your time collecting Whimstars, catching bugs, and completing side quests while largely ignoring this component of the game, if youre not into the grind or the min-max but the styling duels are a major component of the Nikki franchise and you wont be able to make the iconic miracle outfit without taking on the faction leaders. You will need to make the miracle outfit to hit the final points of the game (as of launch), though you can enjoy your time in Mira Land doing other stuff, if you so prefer. If youre looking for more info about Infinity Nikki, we have a beginners guide, a list of codes, and a guide noting where to unlock more clothes.

    design-milk.com
The humble building block. For centuries, this iconic shape has helped humans reach fantastic architectural heights, understand the crystalline structures of our minerals on earth, and take us to the great beyond with advancements in materials technology. In childhood, toy blocks foster many fine motor and relational skills, two of the most crucial facets of growing up. This shape stands the test of time, some variation of which forming all of our homes and workplaces. Here, we see these instances of blocks in childhood and architecture in adulthood combined to produce Blockitecture Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian by James Paulius for Areaware. This playful rendition of Frank Lloyd Wrights work, classically low to match the surrounding American landscape, is a perfect balance of tinker and toy.The science on blocks is clear early adoption of spatial reasoning skills is a solid predictor of working in STEM, building skills essential to most, if not all positions within the field. The delicate balance of materiality and form within the context of site was essential to Frank Lloyd Wrights design philosophy. Taking inspiration directly from the renowned architects signature style, organic architecture, the blocks are set around a hexagonal axis. They feature distinct dimensions and colored sides that set a specific block apart from the rest. All in pleasing, natural hues, the palette blends with the light shade of the New Zealand pine. Water-based, non-toxic paint adorns the sides of the hexagonal pieces, free to stack and nestle as you please. The pieces all lined up have a cohesion that not only likens them to each other, but the other Blockitecture sets available at Areaware as well. Each set, also designed by Paulius, is a celebration of the iconic skylines we all know and love, within the context of building toys. Bright, dynamic colors keep the blocks fun and approachable, while the intricacy of the shapes keep them engaging.James Paulius is a New York City-based designer. Much of his work revolves around blocks that are inspired by architecture, urban planning, and landscape design. His designs aim to promote an understanding of physicality through the lens of play and possibility. He hopes this will allow children to realize their potential to shape the world around us, and create better futures for generations to come.Areaware collaborates with independent designers to offer fun, funky pieces for the design-minded person. They work with established brands and smaller studios alike, ensuring a fresh perspective is always at the forefront of their collection. • The Cozy Parka Jacket Inspires Draga & Aurels Latest Seating
    design-milk.com
If youre going to design a sofa, why not get inspired by the cozy, timeless jacket that envelopes you in cold weather?Poltrona Frau has unveiled its latest innovation, the Parka sofa collection, designed by creative duo Draga & Aurel. Inspired by the iconic parka jacket, known for its versatility and casual elegance, the sofa translates the spirit of this beloved garment into a contemporary seating solution that embodies both functionality and aesthetic appeal. The Parka collection is part of Poltrona Fraus Imagine Collection, which explores the theme of Imagine Softness and includes a collaboration with British artist Faye Toogood. Not many companies are capable of embracing so many different external visions whilst still uploading a furnishing philosophy consistent with its identity, remarks Nicola Coropulis, CEO of Poltrona Frau. Over the years, in the various collaborations with new designers, Poltrona Frau has always sought and upheld that sense of contemporary luxury which is able to respond in an aesthetic, conceptual, and, above all, ethical way to modern requisites. As their first project for Poltrona Frau, Draga & Aurel designed the Parka collection to epitomize this concept of softness, inviting relaxation and warmth into any living space. The unique elliptical shape of the backrest seamlessly transitions from an armrest to a seat, creating a concave or convex space that imbues cozy vibes. The soft lines and generously padded upholstery is reminiscent of your favorite parka jacket: casual, snuggly, soft, and comforting.Parka can be configured with different modular elements: a concave or convex armchair without armrests or with a terminal armrest, the latter available in a maxi version. Upholstery choices include Poltrona Fraus own Pelle Frau leather or a combination of leather and fabric, where the leather is applied to the external frame and the fabric is applied to the seat, backrest, and armrest.Photo: Andrea PugiottoPhoto: Andrea PugiottoPhoto: Andrea PugiottoDraga Obradovic and Aurel K. • You Can Design a Custom Day Planner for Your iPad or Other Tablet
    lifehacker.com
There's something just plain tangible about using a pen and paper to plan out your day, which is why many people prefer a paper day planner to a to-do list app or calendar. The problem: A paper day-planner is yet another thing to carry around, which feels silly if you've already got an iPad or other tablet. This is where Remarkably Organized Pages comes in. This free website lets you build the PDF day planner of your dreams. The tool is built with the e-ink Remarkable Tablet in mind, but there's no reason you can't use it on an iPad or any tablet that lets you mark up PDF files. The planner itself offers annual, quarterly, monthly, weekly, and daily views, all connected with plentiful links. This means you can tap a day in the monthly view in order to see the page for the current day, then tap the month or week in the header to see those pages. There's even tabs in the left margin, allowing you to quickly jump between days the way you might in a paper. To get started, head to the landing page and click Start Creating. The web application will show you the PDF; click around to explore it. You can then click the Settings button to change things. The first few options let you choose the year, whether the week starts on Sunday or Monday, and whether you want a high-res file. Credit: Justin Pot You can print this to PDF (it's recommended that you do so in Chrome) and be perfectly happy; the real fun, though, comes if you click Advanced Settings and customize things. This lets you customize things more fully. You can add a custom title page, remove sections you don't need, and change the font. You can also choose among custom templates for each section. Credit: Justin Pot You can also add custom sections to the end of the guide. By default, this means Notes and Goals, the latter being a "don't beak the chain" tool for visual habit building. But you can remove these sections, or customize them, if you prefer. Credit: Justin Pot There's also the ability to import holidays or any iCal file, if you want certain dates to show up. I recommend digging in and customizing things until they look and work the way you expect. Then, when you're done, sync it to the PDF markup application of your choice. There are other tools out there for building custom PDF day planners, including this great one on Github, which you can customize if you know your way around the command line. Remarkably Organized pages does a good job of giving you power to customize the look and feel of your planner while still being straight-forward to use.

  • Bitcoin breaks the $100,000 barrier for the first time
    www.engadget.com
Bitcoin has passed the $100,000 threshold for the first time. At approximately 9:39PM ET this evening, the cryptocurrencys value hit six figures, moving it past the milestone for the first time in its nearly 16-year history. That also means the legendary Bitcoin pizza order is now worth $1 billion. For those not in the loop, a Florida man because, of course it was a Florida man paid 10,000 BTC for two Papa Johns pizzas over 14 years ago in whats considered the cryptocurrencys first commercial transaction.Ill pay 10,000 bitcoins for a couple of pizzas like maybe 2 large ones so I have some left over for the next day, Laszlo Hanyecz posted in a crypto forum on May 18, 2010. Four days later, a British man took him up on the offer. That amount was only worth $45 at the time. (And the UK man only paid Papa Johns $25!) But only nine months later, the transactions value had skyrocketed to $10,000.Hanyecz told The New York Times in 2013 that he had no regrets about the then-$6 million pizza order. It wasnt like Bitcoins had any value back then, so the idea of trading them for a pizza was incredibly cool, he said. No one knew it was going to get so big.I wonder if Florida Man has any regrets now that his fee for those two Papa Johns pizzas is worth a billion dollars.Looking at it another way, Papa Johns current market cap is $1.567 billion. So, had Hanyecz saved his crypto instead of ordering those two pizzas, he could have bought nearly two-thirds of the company that baked his pie today. Then, theres the story of a writer who, in 2017, helped a friend recover (at the time) $200,000 worth of Bitcoin from a broken laptop. Those 40 Bitcoins stuck in a MultiBit wallet for three-and-a-half years are worth more than $4 million today (so long as the cryptocurrency stays above the $100,000 mark). This article originally appeared on Engadget at https://www.engadget.com/computing/bitcoin-breaks-the-100000-barrier-for-the-first-time-042918312.html?src=rss

  • Microsoft confirms the Windows 11 TPM security requirement isn't going anywhere
    www.engadget.com
With the end date for Windows 10 less than a year away, people still using that operating system will need to start preparing to enter the Windows 11 era. And Microsoft is placing a hardware requirement on the current OS that could pose a problem for those of us using older machines.Windows 11 will require computers to have TPM 2.0. Also known as a Trusted Platform Module, this is a dedicated chip or firmware used for device security, and the 2.0 version offers several useful features for improved cryptography and encryption. A blog post from Microsoft outlines all of the benefits and why it's being made a core part of Windows 11 installations. Notably, the latest TPM can help future-proof the three-year-old operating system "by helping to protect sensitive information as more AI capabilities come to physical, cloud, and server architecture."That's all well and good, but many older machines don't have TPM 2.0. That version became the hardware standard for Windows computers in 2016. Savvy users may have been able to use Windows 11 on incompatible computers with workarounds, but Microsoft's language that "TPM 2.0 is not just a recommendationits a necessity" indicates that the company will likely be getting more stringent about preventing those bypasses. You can check the TPM status of your computer with Microsoft's PC Health Check app ahead of the October 14, 2025 end of support date for Windows 10.This article originally appeared on Engadget at https://www.engadget.com/computing/microsoft-confirms-the-windows-11-tpm-security-requirement-isnt-going-anywhere-211002424.html?src=rss
