Arcane's story continues in this five-minute League of Legends animated cinematic
Arcane's story continues in this five-minute League of Legends animated cinematicBloody Mel!Image credit: Riot Games News by Tom Phillips Editor-in-Chief Published on Jan. 8, 2025 Arcane fans have a five-minute animated treat to enjoy today, in the shape of a new story cinematic released by League of Legends maker Riot Games. The video is primarily designed to showcase Noxus, the setting for League of Legends' new season which begins tomorrow, and the home of prominent character Mel Medarda. But the video is simultaneously also a continuation of Mel's storyline from Arcane itself, and seems to set up what we may see next in Arcane's upcoming Noxus-based continuation. And if you need further reason to watch, the cinematic was created in partnership with Fortiche, the talented French animation house behind Arcane. Here it is:League of Legends' Welcome to Noxus cinematic.Watch on YouTubeFirst off, we can tell this is absolutely set after Arcane's second season due to Mel's new golden tattoos she acquires during its storyline. Here, we also get a proper look at LeBlanc, leader of the Black Rose group, who popped up within Arcane's second season but stayed largely disguised. She's seen here chatting with Vladimir, another League of Legends champion, about some unscrupulous-sounding plans for the Noxian empire.Following the conclusion of Arcane, showrunner Christian Linke confirmed the series would be followed by three additional shows featuring other locations within the League of Legends world. The first, set in Noxus, began production a year ago - and today's cinematic almost feels like a first trailer for that. Other series will then feature the regions of Demacia and Ionia."We're really going wide, we're looking at every region and we really now have the ability to build a slate to tell many more stories - and continue some of them," Linke said previously. If you haven't watched Arcane yet, it remains one of the best video game adaptations of all time and requires zero prior knowledge regarding League of Legends itself. Its first season is flawless, while its second was marred slightly from pacing issues due it cramming so many story threads in.

Shadow of the Colossus film gets positive update, more than 10 years after its director was first announced
Shadow of the Colossus film gets positive update, more than 10 years after its director was first announcedNo longer Dormin-t.Image credit: Team ICO News by Victoria Kennedy News Reporter Published on Jan. 8, 2025 10 years after he was first attached to the project, It and The Flash director Andrs Muschietti says he still has plans for Sony's Shadow of the Colossus film adaptation. The Shadow of the Colossus film has been, it is fair to say, a long time coming. We first got wind of an adaptation all the way back in 2009, when it was suggested that creator Fumito Ueda would be involved in some capacity. Chronicle director Josh Trank then joined the project in 2012, but this still didn't seem to kick the film into any sort of gear. The following year, Sony then hired Hanna writer Seth Lochhead to pen the script for the adaptation. In 2014, it was then revealed Trank had left the project to head to a galaxy far, far away instead (nothing sinister, just Star Wars). At this time, Muschietti was announced to be taking over the reins from Trank. But, like I said, that was in 2014. So, it has been over a decade since Muschietti was first brought on to direct the still non-existent Shadow of the Colossus film.To see this content please enable targeting cookies. The Death of Console Exclusives Is Inevitable and I Don't Know How I Feel About It. Watch on YouTubeAnd yet there is still hope, despite a very long period of absolutely no news whatsoever. Muschietti has now said he still has plans for the adaptation, and there is a script. In a conversation with programme "La Baulera del Coso" on Radio TU, Muschietti assured listeners the film was not "an abandoned project by any means" (thanks, TheGamer)."I'm not a big gamer, but Shadow of the Colossus seems to me a masterpiece and I played it several times," Muschietti said. "The film has been in development for 10 years and now the possibility of making it is opening up."Muschietti stated he likes the project's script "very much", but admitted there were still a number of hurdles that needed to be sorted before the film could really get going. Namely, the financial side of things."Shadow of the Colossus is a cult game, but to make a good film, there is a studio that puts the numbers and says how much it is worth to give the director $200m, $150m, or $100m," he said. "There are different versions of the film, and obviously, I want them to give me $200m, but this is another factor to take into account."So, I guess with this update, it is now a case of once again waiting to see if Muschietti gets the funds he hopes for, and then perhaps the Shadow of the Colossus adaptation will finally begin filming.Shadow of the Colossus is not the only PlayStation IP currently slated for a film release. Just yesterday, the company announced adaptations of both Helldivers 2 and Horizon Zero Dawn. Meanwhile, its Until Dawn film is set to release this April, with a new cast of characters taking center stage in a brand new story.

Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games hereWhile Diablo 4 is a very popular game, there is always a loud audience of classic fans who want a return to the series classic formula. Of course, theres now a modern way to play Diablo 2 with fancy new graphics as well as fan-supported updates like Project Diablo 2, but what about a new game in the series that recaptures what fans loved about the original? In an interview with Windows Central, Diablo 4 lead Rod Fergusson claimed that gamers dont actually want a return to the series original formula. Similar to his recent comments about how gamers turned the series towards live-service, Fergusson claims the consumptive nature of modern fans means a true, classic Diablo wouldnt succeed anymore.Diablo 4 could never be Classic DiabloIn the interview, Fergusson explained that Blizzard did attempt to go closer to the classic formula for Diablo 4. However, as players became used to the rapid progression of modern games, it became unfeasible. We were like, okay, this is what people love about the progression of Diablo 2, that idea of that very long chase, and so we launched that way with Diablo 4 and we found out very quickly that if you dont give me my Uber in my season, then Im upset, Fergusson said. The Diablo 4 lead explained that players have changed in 20 years, claiming that the consumptive nature of a live service has made returning to the classic series impossible while also being a sales success. While the launch version of D4 wasnt as good as peak Diablo 2, it did launch with a rather long grind that has since been beaten out of the game. With Vessel of Hatred, the game has quickly developed a rapid progression pace, and it seems that the way many players want it.For more Diablo coverage, read about Fergussons wish to have the ARPG genre renamed to Diablo-likes.Diablo 4Platform(s):PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/XGenre(s):Action, Action RPG, RPGSubscribe to our newsletters!By subscribing, you agree to our Privacy Policy and may receive occasional deal communications; you can unsubscribe anytime.Share

Destiny 2s new release structure fails to capture fans as player counts plummet act-on-act
You can trust VideoGamer. Our team of gaming experts spend hours testing and reviewing the latest games, to ensure you're reading the most comprehensive guide possible. Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games hereBungie has officially released Destiny 2 Revenant Act 3, the final section of its ongoing story epilogue. Coming after The Final Shape wrapped up the series original arc, the new story content has resulted in the lowest player counts for the series yet. With the release of Act 3, there was an overall expectation that Destiny 2 could claw back some of its departed players. However, thats not the case, as the launch of Act 3 has resulted in the lowest concurrent player count of any new content drop in franchise history.Destiny 2 Revenant fails to bring back playersLooking at the games Steam Charts profile, its easy to see a worrying trend for the future of Destiny 2. As with any live-service game, Destiny 2 benefits from a surge in players whenever theres a new content drop, and thats the same with the ongoing Revenant release structure. However, with each Acts release, Destiny 2 has seen drastically lower returning player counts act-on-act. With the release of The Final Shape in June 2024, the looter shooter saw its highest concurrent player count in over a year, rising from a historic low of 38,000 players in November to a staggering 314,000.The release of Revenant Act 1 saw a large number of players returning to the game, albeit down substantially from The Final Shape to just 78,000 concurrents on Steam. On November 19th, the release date for Act 2, the games player count spiked again to just 53,000 players.Revenant Act 3 follows the same downward trend, this time boasting only 36,000 concurrent players on release. While tens of thousands of players is still nothing to balk at, it is still lower than the games historic low before the release of The Final Shape.Every major update sees a spike in player numbers, but Revenant is failing to grab hold of players. The data proves that, outside of a very core fanbase, the majority of Destiny 2 players are not keen on returning after the release of The Final Shape. With Destiny 3 not in the works, its up to the games two expansions later this year to see if theres any juice left in the tank. Unfortunately, it seems the juice is loose.Destiny 2Platform(s):Google Stadia, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Web, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/XGenre(s):Action, Adventure, First Person, Massively Multiplayer, Shooter8VideoGamerRelated TopicsDestiny 2 Subscribe to our newsletters!By subscribing, you agree to our Privacy Policy and may receive occasional deal communications; you can unsubscribe anytime.Share

Amazing new DBD update fixes iconic killer fumbled by BeHaviour
You can trust VideoGamer. Our team of gaming experts spend hours testing and reviewing the latest games, to ensure you're reading the most comprehensive guide possible. Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games here Contents hide There are a lot of killers in Dead By Daylight. Some of these great bad guys are original creations such as The Unknown, while many others are part of crossovers with famous licensed IPs such as Michael Myers from Halloween. One of the most famous, but worst, killers in Dead By Daylight has been The Nightmare, and the good news is that BeHaviour is delivering an amazing update that fixes Freddy Krueger in DBD. Dead By Daylight fans have a lot to look forward to for the new year. The incredible Junji Ito skin collection has just released, meanwhile, the January 2025 roadmap includes the return of the fan-favorite Chaos Shuffle LTM very soon. In February we should learn the identity of the licensed killer arriving in March, believed to be from Tokyo Ghoul, and soon after we will receive a killer and survivor from FNAF. Yes, it is poised be another fantastic year for DBD, and BeHaviour is beginning 2025 perfectly by reviving the much-beloved Freddy Krueger with a plethora of buffs. New Dead By Daylight updates fixes Freddy KruegerBeHaviour Interactive has announced a plethora of buffs for The Nightmare in Dead By Daylight. These changes will first be experienced in a PTB this week on Steam, and its expected that the update will become available for everyone in the final week of January. Below are the buffs, changes, and more confirmed for Freddy Krueger in DBD: The Nightmare Freddy Krueger himself is one of horrors most iconic slashers. While he has proven himself to be a formidable foe for newer players, hes begun to feel a little left behind in Dead by Daylights current landscape. Were excited to help players rediscover the macabre joy of donning into the signature sweater and wreaking havoc like only Freddy can.Weve made several adjustments to his Power, which should help Freddy feel like the Dream Demon he was always destined to be. Our philosophy was to make The Dream Worlds presence affect Survivors even when theyre awake, giving The Nightmare a consistently threatening edge with more flexibility than ever before.[CHANGE]Press Active Ability to swap between Dream Snares and Dream Pallets.Dev Note:This has been long requested, and were thrilled to finally make it happen. With consistent access to two impactful abilities, The Nightmare can live up to his name by slowing Survivors down and shattering them psychologically. Having the ability to quickly swap between Powers has the added benefit of raising the Killers skill ceiling, while providing him with two different tools to utilize in a chase.[NEW]Dream Snares now move at 12 m/s with a cooldown of 5 seconds. They can go through walls and up stairs, but not off ledges.[NEW]Dream Snares now have unique interactions with Survivors whether they are Asleep or Awake. Sleeping Survivors will be Hindered for 4 seconds, while Awake Survivors will gain 30 seconds on their Sleep MeterDev Note:This change grants The Nightmare additional flexibility while using the Snare, allowing him to use them against a wider variety of opponents. Making it so Survivors dont need to be asleep to be affected will make quite the impact not just on a Power level, but thematically as well.[NEW]Dream Pallets can be triggered to explode in a geyser of blood. The explosion occurs 1.5 seconds after activation with a 3-meter radius. When a sleeping Survivor is hit, they become injured. When an Awake Survivor is hit, they gain 60 seconds on their Sleep Timer.Dev Note:Dream Pallets have been a fun and rewarding way to mind game Survivors, and we wanted to add even more benefit to landing a successful deception. Now, even if the Survivor does manage to escape the chase, they run the risk of sustaining a dark souvenir to remember you by.[NEW]The Nightmare can now teleport to completed, blocked, and endgame Generators, as well as any Survivor healing in the Dreamworld. Dream Projection on a healing Survivor will teleport The Nightmare within 12 meters of their position. Upon completing a teleport, Survivors within 8 meters will be revealed with Killer Instinct and gain 15 seconds to their Sleep Meter.[CHANGE]The Teleport cooldown has been decreased from 45 to 30 seconds, and the Teleport can no longer be cancelled.Dev Note:An important part of The Nightmares playstyle is creating the illusion of being everywhere at once, and his Dream Projection is a major part of that. Weve made a few changes to make this even more effective and removed the pain point of having Survivor progress rendering The Nightmares Power obsolete. Finally, theDream World. Dont let the name deceive you this psychological torture chamber is far from a dream. We wanted this update to inject sleeping Survivors with a sense of terror, paranoia, and urgency so we made a few small but crucial tweaks.[NEW]In the Dream World, Healing Survivors will be revealed by Killer Instinct for as long as theyre healing (lingering for 3 seconds once they stop), allowing The Nightmare to teleport to them. Were also giving the Dream World a slight visual polish, which should help immerse players further into the fantasy. We have plans to continue improving this in the future, so keep your eyes out for even more to come.[CHANGE]Sleeping Survivors can use any Alarm Clock to wake up.[NEW]After using an Alarm Clock, it goes on cooldown for 45 seconds, during which it cannot be used.Dev Note:On the Survivor side we wanted to address a few notable frustrations, mainly around Alarm Clocks and the general process of Waking Up. Were confident these changes will improve the experience of playing against The Nightmare without having a significant impact on the overall balance. We hope you enjoy this updated version of The Nightmare, and well be keeping a close eye on your feedback. Unless, of course, we happen to fall asleepThe Nightmares Add-OnsRounding out this rework is a substantial pass to all The Nightmares Add-Ons, which will incentivize creativity whenever youre preparing your next loadout. While the full list is too long to include, here are a few notable Add-Ons coming with this update:Red Paint Brush (Iridescent)[OLD]All Survivors start the trial in the Dream World. Failed Skill Checks do not wake up Survivors in the Dream World.[NEW]Reveals the aura of Survivors in the Dream World when they are further than 32 meters away. Increases each Survivors Sleep Meter by 50%.Black Box (Iridescent)[OLD]Recently opened Exit Gates are blocked for 15 seconds.[NEW]Exit Gates are blocked for Sleeping Survivors for 15 seconds when they are opened.Swing Chains (Very Rare)[OLD]Rusty but sturdy chains used to securely attach a swing seat. While Survivors are in the Dream World, the sounds of their footsteps are 50% louder.[NEW]After using Dream Projection, block all vaults within 16 meters for 6 seconds.Keep an eye out for the full list once the update goes live, but rest assured that the Dream Demon will have plenty of terrifying tools to work with moving forward. For more Dead By Daylight content, check out ourranking of the top 10 DLC expansions to buyalong with a ranking of thebest killer perksandbest survivor perks.Dead by DaylightPlatform(s):Google Stadia, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series XGenre(s):Action, Survival Horror7VideoGamerRelated TopicsDead by Daylight Subscribe to our newsletters!By subscribing, you agree to our Privacy Policy and may receive occasional deal communications; you can unsubscribe anytime.Share

Pottery Barn and Kravet Team Up for a Line of Heirloom-Worthy Home Goods
Since its founding in 1918, Kravet has been a favorite source of high-quality fabrics among interior designers. But until now, the fifth-generation family business has only sold its home furnishingswhich draw from its textile archive of more than 60,000 pieces dating back over 2,000 yearsto the trade. But thanks to a special collaboration with Pottery Barn, launching today, Kravets heirloom prints and patterns are available to customers everywhere.Kravet was founded by my great-great-grandfather, Sara shares. He originally came to New York and started working as a tailor on the Lower East Side. In fitting these womens dresses and suits and coats, he noticed that trim detailing for furniture was a real gap in the market and branched out; 107 years later, here we are.Courtesy of Pottery BarnWe had always been looking for the right moment, the right partner, shares Sara Kravet, the brands vice president of showrooms, furniture, and licensing. When the opportunity with Pottery Barn came about, the choice really was easy. They felt like a kindred spirit. To build a collection of tabletop, bedding, pillows, wall and window coverings, and decorative accessories that celebrated both brands commitment to quality, Kravet opened their extensive textile archive to Pottery Barns in-house designers. Together, the two teams sorted through the museum-quality historical documents to determine which designs should be adapted for the customer. They werent afraid to embrace print and pattern, Sara explains. It felt really natural to bring our design-minded expertise to their audience. We loved the idea of mining our archive together to create these really unique designs that are grounded in history but updated for todays market, for the retail consumer, in the right colors, in the right scale, Sara says. The cotton and linen Kravet Garden Floral Ikat Reversible Duvet (from $159) features a large-format flower pattern on one side and a two-toned paisley on the other.Courtesy of Pottery BarnSelected prints include Garden Floral, Arboretum, and Heirloom Damask, which were recolored and rescaled for a fresh, timeless look. When youre in the archive, its like a kid in a candy shop, so its hard to narrow the field, says Sara. Ultimately seeing what the Pottery Barn designers were attracted to, what style-wise brought them interest, led us to form a collection that we felt was really strong and really appealing to both the design and retail markets. The most exciting part of the process for Sara, personally, was translating the patterns she typically sees on fabric and wallpaper to dinnerware and mugs. For that reason, her most beloved items in the collection are the Kravet Floret Stoneware Appetizer Plates ($49.50 for a mixed set of four), which combine a small flower motif with shades of blue, and the Kravet Lacquer Tray ($59), which is on offer in both Ikat and Damask prints.

Inside the Spirited London Home of a French Fashion Designer
Caroline is the chicest girl in London, designer Peter Mikic says of his client, French fashion designer Caroline Sciamma. We have this rather unique understanding of each other. For her part, Sciamma says, I first met Peter at a lunch, and it was love at first sight with us. I was completely seduced by his energy and his standards. Consider it a Britain-based globally minded admiration society. Australian-born talent Mikic and Sciamma came together to create the interiors for a sprawling home in west Londona project that was a staggering seven years in the making.Sciamma and her husband purchased the property upon realizing she was pregnant with the couples now eight-year-old son and that they were one bedroom short in their current abode. (She also has a 16-year-old son and shares two stepdaughters, 18 and 25, with her husband.) It took negotiating Londons notoriously prickly rules and bureaucratic hurdles for historic homes, but after four years and a new architect, the renovation was finally underway.Caroline Sciamma poses in the drawing room in front of a de Sede DS-600 Snake sofa, over which hangs an art piece by Daniel Buren. The sculptural floor lamp is by Vincenzo De Cotiis.Art: DB - ADAGP, Paris / Artists Rights Society (ARS), New York 2025Paris-born Sciamma chose a single space to channel the reigning style of her home city, keeping the drawing room very neutral and very relaxing with custom light gray plaster walls. It features a bespoke sofa and rug by Peter Mikic Studio, coffee table and chandelier by Vincenzo De Cotiis, and a floor lamp by Lara Bohinc Jesmonite.Art: Stephen ParrinoThe red tape began to feel more like a blessing than a boundary. Its a Grade IIlisted house, which means in the UK its a protected home. So all the doors, floors, the corner sinks, and the ceilings are protected, explains Mikic, who worked with architecture firm Rundell Associates and contractor 800 Group. But when Caroline, [her husband], and I walked through the house, we thought that all of these original features are so beautifulyou want to retain them anyway. The ceiling in the main sitting room had 50 years of paint on it, so it was all stripped off and repaired. That ceiling lives in the visually arresting yet soothingly monochromatic drawing room. Sometimes as Parisians, were very black, white, and gray, Sciamma explains. I wanted to have one room that was very neutral, very relaxing. Because its so beautiful, its the only room I kept very Parisian. Along with the ceiling, the parquet floors and a large raw wood door are original, and the walls were finished in a dove gray polished plaster with a distressed finish, so it sort of looks like an old palazzo, Sciamma says. The most neutral room in the home is accented by standout pieces like a Jean Prouve Scal daybed, a Francois Monnet chair, and a sideboard by Vincent Dubourg. The room is punctuated by the sort of mix the owners and Mikic favornewly acquired finds and long-loved vintage pieces from the couples collection like a De Sede sofa, Gio Ponti cabinet, and a Francois Monnet chair, balanced with gallery pieces like Vincenzo De Cotiis lamps. You already have all these textures and materials, Mikic says, And Caroline did a wonderful job by going to Paris, he says, referring to Sciammas frequent trips to Frances famed markets throughout the renovation. I love furniture, she says. If its trendy or not, I really dont care. Its just about my feelings toward the piece and what it brings to me. A large art piece by Daniel Buren featuring graphic yellow stripes lends a small dose of color to the room. Most PopularCulture + LifestyleThe Best Coffee Table Books to Gift This Year, According to AD StaffersBy Jessica ChernerArchitecture + DesignThese 24 Beautiful Places of Worship Are Built Into NatureBy Katherine McLaughlinBathroom13 Farmhouse Bathroom Ideas That Will Inspire You to Embrace Rustic CharmBy Morgan GoldbergThe dining room features standout orange Loro Piana fabric on the walls, offset by Yves Klein blue artworks, as well as a sculptural Ferro Vitro Chandelier by Cox London, and a bar by DFace.Art: Succession Yves Klein c/o Artists Rights Society (ARS), New York / ADAGP, Paris 2025. The pendant light is custom by Peter Mikic Studio based on a design he created for his own home. Bold orange Loro Piana fabric lines the dining room walls, offset with Yves Kleins Venus Bleue, a favorite work. Shades are muted but no less impactful in the primary bedroom. We chose this beautiful olive green, which we used on the walls on silk wallpaper, Mikic says, contrasted by a curved pink upholstered sofa and brass canopy bed repurposed from the couples former home. An adjoining primary bath is done up in deep jade green onyx. I love colors, and I wanted to have different vibes in each room. But you can still feel the essence of it, Sciamma says, There is a link and a signature throughout. For the primary bedroom, Mikic explains, the couple wanted something a bit moody and more calm. It features Shantung Sage wallpaper by Altfield. Calling Sciamma pleased with how it turned out would be an understatement. Its become a closet, an occasional office, and a cozy meeting space when friends stop by. That was the dream room that Ive never had before, she says. Peter really understood what I was looking for.Part of that mind meld comes from a shared history in the fashion world. Mikic is a graduate of RMIT, a fashion school in Australia, and he built a career under major designers before pivoting to interiors, while Sciamma came up at Vogue Paris before launching her prt--porter leather brand SKIIM. One of the reasons why we work well together is because we both come from fashion, but we have an understanding of interiors. We know what we like, and we understand what we dont like, Mikic says. Sciammas styling career continues to inform her approach to interiors. I learned from the best because I was working with Carine Roitfeld, she says, She taught me so much about aesthetic, beauty, and fabrics, that materials that do not necessarily match will go together. I like the unpredictable, the unobvious, and thats how Im aiming to live my life. Zuckerberg says hes moving Meta moderators to Texas because California seems too biased
As part of Metas sweeping changes to content moderation announced today, CEO Mark Zuckerberg says that the company will also be moving its content moderation teams from California to Texas to help remove the concern that biased employees are overly censoring content, he wrote on Threads. Were going to move our trust and safety and content moderation teams out of California, and our US-based content review is going to be based in Texas, Zuckerberg says in a video about the changes. As we work to promote free expression, I think that it will help us build trust to do this work in places where theres less concern about the bias of our teams.Metas decision to move its content moderation teams to Texas follows Elon Musk bringing X and SpaceX to the state, though Musks move was driven in part by his opposition to a California law thats intended to support LGBTQ+ students. (Employees who work for Meta in Texas will be subject to bans on gender-affirming care for transgender minors along with one of the countrys most stringent abortion bans.)Metas other moderation changes include ditching its independent fact-checking program in the US in favor of an X-inspired Community Notes feature, removing restrictions on topics like immigration and gender, and bringing back civic content to Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. The companys blog post about the updates was written by Joel Kaplan, Metas new Trump-friendly policy chief.
