30 Best Architecture and Design Firms in Vietnamarchitizer.comThese annual rankings were last updated on January 16, 2025. Want to see your firm on next years list? Continue reading for more on how you can improve your studios ranking.Following the dramatic political changes of the 20th century, a branch of modernist thinking made its way to Vietnams architectural landscape. Locals began to embrace this new wave of modernist architecture as a form of self-expression that differentiated itself from past colonial design. Vietnamese architects found unique ways to express themselves in an increasingly international structural language. Concrete, glass and metal took precedence over the past favoring wood, and modern structures began to appear especially in Ho Chi Minh City which attracted foreign business, bolstering the countrys urbanization and featuring site-specific architecture and biophilic design.Like anywhere in the world, Vietnamese architecture is not only informed by its governance and faith but also the local climate. Regionally speaking, the architecture differs to accommodate specific climatic conditions. In the highlands and midlands, for example, one will find stilted homes that accommodate the regions rain-prone conditions, whereas traditional one-storied dwellings are found in the regions dryer lands. Such a hybrid blend of architectural styles and diverse topography makes for a fascinating yet widely diverse built environment. With so many architecture firms to choose from, its challenging for clients to identify the industry leaders that will be an ideal fit for their project needs. Fortunately, Architizer is able to provide guidance on the top design firms in Vietnam based on more than a decade of data and industry knowledge. How are these architecture firms ranked? The following ranking has been created according to key statistics that demonstrate each firms level of architectural excellence. Creating depth and drama with moody photographyiso.500px.comMoody photography is a trend that continues to captivate audiences, using rich shadows, dramatic lighting, and subdued tones to evoke emotion and tell powerful stories. This style isnt just about creating dark imagesits about harnessing light, color, and composition to bring depth and atmosphere to your work. Heres how to elevate your moody photography to stand out in 2025.Understanding the essence of moody photographyAt its core, moody photography is about creating emotion. Whether its solitude, intrigue, or nostalgia, the mood of your image should resonate with viewers and make them feel connected to the story youre telling. Its not limited to low-light conditionswhat matters is how you control the tonal range and contrast to highlight your subject and the overall feeling of the scene. Mastering lighting techniquesLighting is the cornerstone of moody photography. By strategically manipulating light, you can create tension, drama, or softness in your shots.Directional lighting for contrastUse directional lighting, such as a side light or a spotlight, to create stark contrasts between light and shadow. This technique emphasizes shapes and textures, adding depth and intrigue to your images.Backlighting for subtletyBacklighting can be used to create silhouettes or add a soft glow to your subject. For instance, a figure framed by a dimly lit window or foggy backlight can convey mystery and isolation.Low-key lighting for intensityLow-key photography is synonymous with moody shots. Using minimal light, focus on illuminating specific areas of the frame while allowing the shadows to dominate. This approach works well for portraits, still life, and atmospheric landscapes. Composing for mood and emotionMoody photography thrives on thoughtful composition. Your framing, use of space, and focus on details play a huge role in shaping the story.Use negative spaceNegative space can amplify the feeling of isolation or introspection. A single subject placed against an expansive dark background creates a sense of vulnerability or peace, depending on your intention.Focus on texturesInclude rich textures like wood grain, flowing fabric, or water ripples to add tactile depth. Textures become even more impactful in moody photography, as they interact with light and shadows to draw the viewer in. Play with perspectiveExperiment with high and low angles to change how the viewer connects with your subject. For example, shooting from below can make a subject feel imposing, while an overhead shot might evoke vulnerability.Balancing colors and tonesWhile moody photography often relies on darker tones, color balance is crucial to maintaining depth and interest.Muted color palettesOpt for desaturated tones to maintain the somber mood without overpowering the scene. Subtle colors like deep blues, grays, and earth tones complement the style and let shadows take center stage.Warm accents in cool scenesA single warm element, like a glowing lantern or a person in a red scarf, can draw the eye and create contrast within a predominantly cool-toned image. This balance between warm and cool tones enhances the drama and impact. Advanced techniques for moody photographyMoody photography offers endless creative opportunities. Experiment with these techniques to refine your style.Incorporate fog or smokeNatural fog or artificial smoke can diffuse light and add layers of atmosphere. This technique is particularly effective in landscapes and environmental portraits, creating a dreamlike quality. Focus on small detailsMoody photography excels at telling stories through subtle details. A single tear on a cheek, raindrops on a window, or a hand clutching a scarf can evoke emotion and intimacy, drawing viewers into the moment.Experiment with long exposuresLong exposures can blur motion, creating ghostly trails of light or misty water that add a sense of mystery and movement to the scene. Moody photography is more than just a trendits a versatile style that lets photographers explore depth, emotion, and storytelling. You can transform ordinary scenes into compelling narratives that resonate with your audience by mastering lighting, composition, and tonal balance. Experiment with these techniques, and watch as your images take on a powerful, evocative life of their own.Not on 500px yet? Much like the original Switch, the Switch 2 will also feature an attachment that will allow players to use the JoyCons as a singular controller for docked gaming.According to the official website, the Nintendo Switch 2 will be fully backwards compatible with its predecessor, with physical and digital copies of Switch games running seamlessly on the new console.More details about the Nintendo Switch 2 are slated to be revealed during a planned Nintendo Direct on April 2, which will give us a more in-depth look at the console and its capabilities. Along with the Direct, Nintendo has also announced an event in London that will take place between April 11 and April 13, where the company will allow users to get some hands-on time with the Switch 2.It is worth noting that, despite finally giving us a look at the Switch 2, Nintendo hasnt yet announced any games for the console, which lines up with previously-reported rumours that indicated that this announcement would be primarily focused on the hardware of the Switch 2.Other companies, however, are rumoured to already be working on games for the Switch 2. Ubisoft, for instance, is rumoured to have more than six ports for some of its more recent titles, including Assassins Creed Mirage and the upcoming Assassins Creed Shadows, in the works. Switch 2 ports of visually impressive titles, like Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth, and Flight Simulator 2024 are also rumoured to be in development. In the mean time, players might want to get ready with new accessories for the Switch 2, since it appears to feature different dimensions from the original. The new console is also rumoured to need a higher-voltage charger for docked gaming.0 Commentarii ·0 Distribuiri ·28 Views

Nintendo finally unveils the Switch 2, its successor to the Nintendo Switchwww.gamedeveloper.comBryant Francis, Senior EditorJanuary 16, 20253 Min ReadImage via NintendoAt a GlanceNintendo has finally unveiled the Switch 2, its follow-up to the massively popular Nintendo Switch. It seems the strikingly familiar console will release at some point in 2025.The wait is over. Nintendo has finally pulled back the veil on the Switch 2, its successor to the immensely popular Nintendo Switch. It's currently unclear how much the console will cost, although Nintendo indicated it will hit shelves at some point in 2025.Developers not privy to Nintendo's plans have been waiting on pins and needles for details of what new hardware features its next console might sport. Since the Nintendo Wii, the company has prioritized unique technology like motion sensor controls, second-screens, and portability over graphical and computing power. This time around? Well, it looks like we'll be getting more of the samebut better. In a brief announcement video (embedded below), Nintendo showed a device that looks like a larger version of the Switch with a few added bells and whistles. The Japanese company didn't share concrete tech specs, but we can see the Switch 2 features redesigned Joy-Con controllers that click onto the side of the console (rather than slide), a new-look kickstand and dock, a larger display, and additional ports.Nintendo confirmed the Switch 2 will be backwards compatible with some Switch titles, but noted certain games "may not be supported or fully compatible with Nintendo Switch 2."Software announcements were also missing from today's reveal, although we did see the Switch 2 running a mysterious version of Mario Kart in both docked and handheld mode. The company has promised to share more details about the console at a later date. A Switch 2 focused Nintendo Direct is currently slated for April 2, 2025.Speculation about the Nintendo Switch successor ran rampant over the last year, as developers, executives, and internet detectives with strong sleuthing skills tried to peel back how the company could top the surprise reveal of a portable console with detachable controllers in 2016. Today's reveal allows developers and publishers previously unfamiliar with Nintendo's plans to begin imagining what Nintendo has in store as it prepares to kick-start its next hardware cycle. When the Nintendo Switch launched in 2017, its primary competition was the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 line of consoles. Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming hadn't hit the market yet, and the promise of a console that could work equally well in living rooms and out on the go seemed like a big gamble. Now, portability is on every manufacturer's mind, with Valve's Steam Deck, Sony's PlayStation Portal, and a slew of other handheld computers hitting the market. None of these devices held a candle to the Nintendo Switch's eye-popping sales numbers (Nintendo projects the console will hit 154.8 million units sold by April 2025), but their existence does challenge the house of Mario to stretch beyond the selling point of portability.Of course this is the company that gave us the Nintendo Ring-Con, Nintendo Labo, and Nintendo Sound Clock Alarmo. Even when it's not debuting new consoles, the company is regularly testing and launching new approaches to physical hardware.Hopes are riding high for the Switch 2 on multiple fronts. Investors are eagerly wagging their tails at the returns new hardware could deliver for Nintendo, and developers everywhere are hoping a fresh Nintendo consoleand hopefully the anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto VI on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S later in the yearcan shock some life into the video game industry and offer more financial stability after two years of layoffs and studio closures.Read more about:Top Stories[Company] NintendoAbout the AuthorBryant FrancisSenior Editor, GameDeveloper.comBryant Francis is a writer, journalist, and narrative designer based in Boston, MA. Leicas $5,300 SL3-S is its latest hybrid camera for stills and videowww.theverge.comLeica has a new camera for pros who shoot both video and stills. The $5,295 Leica SL3-S, which launches today, is a full-frame mirrorless hybrid camera optimized for fast-action stills and 6K video. Like the SL3 its based on, the SL3-S has a compact body and 3.2-inch tilting touchscreen display. But where the SL3 with its 60mp sensor is mainly for still photography, the SL3-S is optimized for speed: its 24mp sensor can shoot video at 6K with 12-bit raw footage, and it can capture stills at up to 30fps with continuously tracking autofocus. The new Leica SL duo: the Leica SL3 (left) and SL3-S (right). Image: Leica CameraThe SL3-Ss newfound video chops mean it supports open-gate 6K (5952 x 3968 resolution) recording of its full 3:2 sensor at up to 30fps, or up to 60fps in 4K, and it can record directly to an SSD via USB-C connection. While it doesnt have an especially high-resolution sensor for stills, it makes up for that with speed and focusing ability. The SL3-S has 779 phase-detect autofocus points, more than double the SL3s 315 points. It also has improved object detection and tracking focus, and it shoots fast enough to enable 48- and 96-megapixel high-res multi-shot composites without a tripod. Otherwise, the SL3-S shares a lot with the SL3 utilizing the same body design with dual card slots (one UHS-II SD and one CFExpress Type B), tilting touchscreen, color-coded menu system (red for photo / yellow for video), and that quirky light-up power button. (Seriously, why is the power button not a nice physical switch like every other camera?) Its a similar approach to the one Leica took with its last-generation SL2 and SL2-S, with the SL3-S once again looking identical to its pricier counterpart, aside from some blacked-out Leica lettering.1/7 Image: Leica Camera1/7 Image: Leica CameraThe SL line is aimed at pros who need their fancy German camera to be more of an all-around workhorse, with high-res video recording and autofocus, instead of a slower-paced, specialized tool for photography like a Leica M rangefinder. So it makes sense that Leica is baking its Content Credentials into the SL3-S, utilizing Adobes Content Authenticity Initiative for image verification like it first did on the M11-P. Strangely, this feature isnt available in the standard SL3, which launched in March 2024, and wont be added via firmware upgrade. Leica spokesperson Nathan Kellum-Pathe told The Verge that the SL3 lacks the necessary hardware and that while software-based content authentication is possible, it does not meet Leicas standard for encryption of this important data.If you have Leica money, but not infinite Leica money, the SL3-S feels like the better value for all but the pickiest pixel peepers.0 Commentarii ·0 Distribuiri ·14 Views

Why Hasnt Sony Done Anything More With Bloodborne? PlayStation Legend Shuhei Yoshida Has a Personal Theorywww.ign.comIt is one of the biggest conundrums in the video game industry: why hasnt Sony followed up Bloodborne with anything? A remaster (Sony loves a remaster)? A sequel? A next-gen update? Fans of FromSoftwares PlayStation 4 masterpiece have begged for more ever since the game launched to critical and commercial acclaim a decade ago. So, what gives?Fresh from the reveal of his first voice acting gig following his exit from Sony, PlayStation legend Shuhei Yoshida has delivered his Bloodborne no-show theory. And we must be clear up front: this is Yoshidas opinion, which in an interview with Kinda Funny Games he stressed is not inside information, or the reveal of the current deliberations within the bowels of Sony itself.Bloodborne has always been the most asked thing, Yoshida began. And people wonder why we havent really done anything, even an update or a remaster. Should be easy, right? The company is known for doing so many remasters, right, some people get frustrated.I have only my personal theory to that situation. I left first-party so I dont know whats going on, but my theory is, you know because I remember, you know, Miyazaki-san really, really loved Bloodborne, you know, what he created. So I think he is interested, but hes so successful and hes so busy, so he doesnt want, he cannot do himself, but he does not want anyone else to touch it. So thats my theory. And the PlayStation team respect his wish. So thats my guess, right? Theory. I am not revealing any secret information, to be clear.IGN's Twenty Questions - Guess the game!IGN's Twenty Questions - Guess the game!To start:...try asking a question that can be answered with a "Yes" or "No".000/250Lets unpack Shuheis comment here. Miyazaki-san is of course Hidetaka Miyazaki, the boss of FromSoftware. And yes, hes incredibly successful. Not only for the influential Dark Souls series, but, most recently, the mainstream hit Elden Ring, which propelled FromSoftware to new heights. So much so that its getting a multiplayer spin-off this year. And it seems obvious to say Miyazaki will be incredibly busy with multiple projects to direct and a company to run. After Bloodborne came out in 2015, Miyazaki directed Dark Souls 3, then 2019s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice for Activision, then the aforementioned Elden Ring for Bandai Namco. What's next? Miyazaki has yet to say. What Shuhei is touching on here is a potential desire from Miyazaki to do something with Bloodborne, but he doesnt want anyone else to do it. And Sony, Shuhei suggests, respects that wish, despite owning the intellectual property. Certainly Miyazaki has earned that respect and the ability to pick and choose his projects. The upshot is Bloodborne remains dormant nearly 10 years after the first game came out. But is there hope? In interviews, Miyazaki often deflects questions about Bloodborne, pointing to the fact FromSoftware does not own the IP. But in February last year, Miyazaki at least admitted the game would benefit from a release on more modern hardware. As for Sony, some Bloodborne fans feel a tad trolled by PlayStation. For example, last month, Bloodborne fans freaked out over a potential announcement after Sony ended its special PlayStation 30th Anniversary trailer with a clip from the beloved FromSoftware game and the phrase "it's about persistence."Perhaps, given Shuheis theory, fans will need plenty of it.Wesley is the UK News Editor for IGN.
