  • New Dead By Daylight update ruins perk with terrible nerf

Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games here Contents hide BeHaviour is releasing update 8.5.0 for Dead By Daylight. This is accompanied by Tome 22 and a fresh batch of Lunar New Year skins, and it is the last update for DBD as we head into February. While the changes to Freddy as a killer are appreciated, the unfortunate news is that the Dead By Daylight update makes a bad perk even worse with a terrible nerf.Dead By Daylight update delivers terrible nerf for Wake Up perkBeHaviour Interactive has shared the final changes for Dead By Daylight update 8.5.0. These changes include the following for the DBD Wake Up perk:[OLD]Once all Generators are powered, Exit Gates are revealed to you. While opening the Exit Gates, reveal your Aura to all other Survivors. While Wake Up! is active, you open the Exit Gates40/45/50%faster.[NEW]Once all Generators are powered, Exit Gates are revealed to you. While opening the Exit Gates, reveal your Aura to all other Survivors. For each Survivor still alive, you open the Exit Gates8/10/12.5%faster.In the patch notes, BeHaviour claims they wanted to make sure that the Perk had a clearer identity [because] in its previous state it rode the line between self-centered and altruistic. BeHaviours intent with the change is to enhance your role as a beacon of endgame hope, ensuring your teammates remain alive to reap the Perk benefits.Unfortunately, the change hasnt been received favorably. Reacting to the 8.5.0 developer update on Reddit, there is a lot of criticism towards the Wake Up nerf. One of many negative comments asks, Did Wake Up really need to be nerfed that bad?, while another comment says, Bro, thats not a Wake Up nerf, they basically just removed the perk entirely.Another comment exclaims theres no reason whatsoever to use Wake Up now, to which another user responded, They [BeHaviour] cant go without gutting anything remotely interesting. One of many comments echoes the frustration that it Makes no sense for Wake Up to be changed for the reasons specified by BeHaviour, while another user bemoans, Expectations were low but holy f**k. BHVR is clueless.DBD update 8.5.0 changesBelow are all of the changes highlighted in the Dead By Daylight update 8.5.0 dev note:The Nightmare: Dream SnaresIncreased Hindered duration to4.5 sec(was 4 sec)Increased cooldown to7 sec(was 5 sec)Improved the Sound Cue when charging Dream SnaresDev Note: Nothing drastic here. Mainly a few tweaks to improve quality of life and reduce the spam potential, particularly at high level play. This subtle tweak to the cooldown should prevent those instances, without sacrificing playability. To compensate, weve increased the Hindered status slightly.Dream PalletsIncrease Rupture range to3.5 meters(was 3 meters)Rupturing Pallets cannot be droppedDev Note: One of the recurring points of feedbackcenteredaround the usefulness of Dream Pallets, and their ability to make an immediate impact in a Trial. Weve increased the Rupture range and made it so a dropped Dream Pallet will not cancel your Rupture charge.Dream ProjectionReleasing a Dream Projection now cancels a teleportCancelling a Dream Projection incurs the full cooldownWhile charging Dream Projection, movement speed is reduced to3.86 m/sReveal the Aura of The Nightmare emerging near a teleport location to help with orientation (visible to Killer only)Added an SFX/VFX when The Nightmare triggers a Dream Projection on Survivors healing in the Dream WorldDev Note: We heard you loud and clear the fake-out is back, with a small caveat. Youll have to use it wisely, as cancelling your teleport will still cause the ability to enter cooldown. Weve also added an Aura that should help orient players after a teleport, as well as additional effects to clear things up when The Nightmare uses a Dream Projection on healing Survivors.Wake Up InteractionThe Wake Up interaction takes priority over Healing. If an injured Survivor is Asleep, an Awake Survivor will be able to Wake Them Up without healing them.Dev Note: Not much to see here, but this should help alleviate some of the frustration that arose when trying to Wake Up an injured Survivor.Add-On ChangesWeve made a few minor tweaks to some of The Nightmares Add-Ons, as a few were noted to be slightly overtuned.Jump Rope:Decrease to0.5 sec(was 1 sec)Unicorn Block:Decrease to0.5 meters(was 1 meter)Wake Up perk: [OLD]Once all Generators are powered, Exit Gates are revealed to you. For each Survivor still alive, you open the Exit Gates8/10/12.5%faster.Dev Note: We wanted to make sure that the Perk had a clearer identity, and in its previous state it rode the line between self-centered and altruistic. The basic idea behind its design is to enhance your role as a beacon of endgame hope, ensuring your teammates remain alive to reap the Perk benefits.Beast of Prey perk:[OLD]Upon gaining the Bloodlust Status Effect, Beast of Prey activates: Gain Undetectable for15/20/25 seconds.[NEW]Upon gaining the Bloodlust Status Effect, Beast of Prey activates: Gain Undetectable for30/35/40 seconds. For more Dead By Daylight content, check out ourranking of the top 10 DLC expansions to buyalong with a ranking of thebest killer perksandbest survivor perks.Dead by DaylightPlatform(s):Google Stadia, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series XGenre(s):Action, Survival Horror7VideoGamerSubscribe to our newsletters!By subscribing, you agree to our Privacy Policy and may receive occasional deal communications; you can unsubscribe anytime.Share

  • Remember when the MCU's Daredevil and She-Hulk hooked up? You're probably safe to forget all about that ahead of Born Again
    www.vg247.com
Attorney At AwwRemember when the MCU's Daredevil and She-Hulk hooked up? You're probably safe to forget all about that ahead of Born AgainContinuity? Who cares! Just watch the next thing and forget about the old thing.Image credit: Marvel News by Oisin Kuhnke Contributor Published on Jan. 28, 2025 Daredevil has officially been in the MCU for a little while now, but his first new show that's set in it might not pay too much attention to previous appearances.Back in 2021, Marvel greatly pleased fans by bringing Matt Murdock (played once more by Charlie Cox) into the MCU officially. He then made another appearance in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, obviously a much more comedy leaning show than the super-serious approach the Netflix Daredevil show took, which looks to be continuing in Born Again. As it turns out, despite Marvel's "master plan", Born Again's showrunner Dario Scardapane has said that you probably shouldn't expect Daredevil's appearances to be all that important in the upcoming Disney Plus series. "Marvel has a master plan, and what you're doing causes ripple effects," Scardapane told SFX magazine (via GamesRadar) in a recent interview. "I would pitch stuff very early and I would hear that they had other plans. To see this content please enable targeting cookies. "I have plenty of leeway up until I hit the larger-scale plan for the MCU. So I try to ignore some stuff [from the wider universe]. We establish a very specific Daredevil, both in terms of his dilemma, down to the suit and where we're picking him up in his life. You can say that Daredevil is canon in the MCU, those other events [in Spider-Man and She-Hulk] happened, but some of them we are not leaning into. His one-night stand with She-Hulk may be one of those things."I'm sure that there'll be a lot of fans that are fine with that outcome, and Daredevil even apparently has a new interest in the form of a character called Heather Glenn (Margarita Levieva) though it does kind of show the pitfalls of having to work within an interconnected universe. Perhaps allowing for more spin-off projects would help smooth this kind of thing out, 'ey Marvel?Scardapane went on to say that they've "moved Matt through other corners of the MCU, and now he's back in his own story. I don't want to give anything away, but you're going to see a character [in our show] you never thought you would, but they get folded into the story in a manner that is organic and exists in our world. New York, in the current state of the MCU, has a lot of stuff going on." Who that might be is anyone's guess, but you'll find out soon enough, as the show premieres on March 4 in the US, and March 5 in the UK.

Subscribe to Nintendo Life on YouTube794kPlaytonic Games has released a new trailer for its upcoming Yooka-Replaylee remaster, reintroducing Shovel Knight as an NPC with unique new challenges for our heroes. The character, based on the acclaimed 2D platformer of the same name, will receive a similar new coat of paint for the updated game, and will also come with a new and improved quest line. Based on the trailer alone, it looks like this will entail climbing atop a tower before booting a bunch of Shovel Knight-themed gems (some of which or perhaps all turn into enemies).Although not officially confirmed for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, Playtonic has heavily implied that Yooka-Replaylee will be making its way to the highly-anticipated console. On the official website, the initial announcement simply said "Yooka-Replaylee will be playable on PS5, Xbox Series consoles and Nintendo? (Ooh mysterious. Well have more on that as soon as poss!)".Hmm... Seems pretty conclusive to us.The original Yooka-Laylee was relatively well-received, though many noted that it couldn't quite meet the standards set by Banjo-Kazooie. Its sequel, Yooka-Layle and the Impossible Lair, garnered high praise for its Donkey Kong Country-inspired 2D platforming gameplay. • Apple fixes zero-day flaw affecting all devices
    techcrunch.com
Apple released the latest updates for its iPhone, iPad and Mac operating systems on Monday, which included switching on Apple Intelligence by default for newer devices. As part of this batch of software updates, Apple also released several patches fixing security bugs, including a zero-day bug that may have been actively exploited meaning hackers were using it to compromise devices against users with iPhones running software older than iOS 17.2, which was released in December 2023.The bug was found in Core Media, the media engine that powers a range of Apple devices, and is now fixed across its product line, including iPhones, iPads, Macs, Apple TVs, Apple Watches, and its mixed-reality headset Vision Pro. Apple said hackers could have elevated privileges by exploiting a memory corruption bug, which would have allowed broader access to a devices data.Apple did not credit the bug discovery to any researcher, as it customarily but not always does. A spokesperson for Apple did not immediately comment asking for more details about who exploited the bug and against whom. This is the first bug found in iOS this year that was exploited in the wild. For reference, Apple fixed at least seven bugs that may have been actively exploited in 2024, according to TechCrunchs running tally.

  • Hugging Face makes it easier for devs to run AI models on third-party clouds
    techcrunch.com
AI dev platform Hugging Face has partnered with third-party cloud vendors, including SambaNova, to launch Inference Providers, a feature designed to make it easier for devs on Hugging Face to run AI models using the infrastructure of their choice.Other partners involved with the new effort include Fal, Replicate, and Together AI.Hugging Face says its partners have worked with it to build access to their respective data centers for running models into Hugging Faces platform. Now, developers on Hugging Face can, for example, spin up a DeepSeek model on SambaNovas servers from a Hugging Face project page in just a few clicks.Hugging Face has long offered its own in-house solution for running AI models. But in a blog post Tuesday, the company explained that its focus has shifted to collaboration, storage, and model distribution capabilities.Inference provider options as they appear on Hugging Face project pages.Image Credits:Hugging FaceServerless providers have flourished, and the time was right for Hugging Face to offer easy and unified access to serverless inference through a set of great providers, the company wrote in the post. [I]t was natural to partner with the next generation of serverless inference providers for model-centric, serverless inference.Serverless inference lets developers deploy and scale AI models without configuring or managing any of the underlying hardware.Providers like SambaNova automatically launch the necessary computing resources and scale them up or down depending on usage.Hugging Face says that developers who use third-party cloud providers through its platform will pay the standard provider API rates, at least for now. (Hugging Face may establish revenue-sharing agreements with provider partners in the future, it says.) All Hugging Face users get a small quota of credits to put toward inference, and subscribers to Hugging Face Pro, Hugging Faces premium tier, get an additional $2 of credits a month. Over time, it evolved into a leader in digital printing, 3D printing, and CAD/CAM solutions, forging partnerships with industry giants such as HP, Canon, Epson, and Stratasys. In addition, the acquisition of Tri-Tech 3D in 2017 bolstered its expertise in advanced 3D printing technologies, while its in-house additive manufacturing service, 3D Print Bureau, supports sectors including automotive and medical. With a turnover of approximately 25 million, the company continues to bridge the gap between digital design offices and construction or manufacturing sites. Celebratory events are planned throughout the year to mark this milestone.60 years is a fantastic milestone and a lesson in what it takes to gain such longevity, explained Adrian Painter, Group Director at Stanford Marsh Group. Our success is down to the people weve hired over the years, who share our values and vision. Weve always been a customer and people-centric organisation, and we wanted to create an environment where people enjoy their job.Exploring climate challenges through art, technology, and 3D printingScarce City, an immersive arts and technology exhibition led by digital artist Elizabeth Mak, is being showcased at the National Gallery Singapore with backing from the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Cluster (NAMIC). Running from January 11 to March 30, 2025, Scarce City merges art and technology to provoke thought on resource management and environmental challenges. Exploring the psychology of climate change and scarcity, the exhibit combines games, theatre, and advanced 3D printing.A centerpiece of the installation is a rock facade, crafted from over 1,700 modular 3D printed pieces using recycled PET filament, highlighting a commitment to sustainability. Engineer Hui Yijian from NAMIC Hub@SIT played a crucial role in enabling the novel design and fabrication process. Months of prototyping, precise calibration, and meticulous heat-welding culminated in a modular structure that can be repurposed for future exhibits.3D Pioneers Challenge opens call for decades best innovationsThe 10th-anniversary edition of the 3D Pioneers Challenge (3DPC) has opened its call for entries, inviting finalists from the past nine years to submit their latest projects.
