  • Steam Now Warns Players About Early Access Games That Havent Been Updated For Long
    cgshares.com
If youve been disappointed by the fact that some of the Early Access games youve obtained never saw a full release version youve kind of wasted money on an incomplete game to the degree that it makes you hesitate when purchasing any of them, then Valve has this situation considered and improved now. With its new hint on EA titles to show the last update time, youll have a better idea if youd love to continue to purchase it.As spotted by SteamDB, a line in orange under the Early Access Game label on a games Steam page now reads: The last update made by the developers was over [time span] ago. The information and timeline described by the developers here may no longer be up to date. This warning message will for sure provide an important alert for you to be aware of the status of the games that youre looking at possibly unfinished or inactive. But not every EA game will have this little note. According to the observations, it only appears for those without receiving updates for more than 13 months. Also, some titles received updates in their beta branches, like Heartbound, spotted by PC Gamer, but they still have the warning note. So, its unclear what kind of update the games need in order to remove the blatant line. We might need to wait for Valve to release an official explanation for this improvement to clarify things.Early Access could be very needed for smaller studios who dont have sufficient money or manpower to publish a game until it is fully completed. Having a game launched by EA helps offer economic support for them to work on the titles continuously. On the players side, they could usually spend less amount of money (as the full version is usually pricer) to enjoy the concept earlier and support the team in achieving their goal.It could be a win-win solution, but due to the lack of sufficient information, players could be hurt in some cases, and they lose confidence in EA titles, which in turn hurt some developers who are determined to complete a game to release full versions. The new Steam updates could be helpful in balancing this situation. What do you think of this new warning? Let us know. • Destiny 2 Heresy: Nether Activity Explained And How To Get Secret Loot
    www.gamespot.com
With the launch of Destiny 2's newest episode, Heresy, comes a brand-new way to earn loot. This time, players will be headed back to the Dreadnaught orbiting Saturn to hunt for secrets and special rewards in the Nether. Here's how it works and how players can earn rewards, including secret loot stashes.Limited revives, ammo and health regenNether delves are different from other activities in that player groups will have limited revives and health regeneration is disabled, meaning that players do not have passive healing after being out of combat for several seconds. Instead, enemies will drop white orbs that give back health, and all other healing effects, such as Support Frame auto rifles, Warlock Healing Rifts, and the Void Devour buff can still take effect. Special and Heavy ammo drops are also significantly reduced in this activity and can only be affected by weapon perks, armor mods, and shooting destructible pots to find more ammo. How to complete objectives in the NetherA Tormentor boss in Destiny 2 channels some unknown power. When players first spawn into the Nether activity, they will notice objectives like "Destroy Weapon Systems" on the HUD. It's not immediately obvious what these are, but upon pulling out the Ghost, the HUD will show a diamond on-screen where the next objective is. Usually, these objectives will be guarded by a yellow-bar enemy with a name and a quick objective to complete around it.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Cultural Legacy in the Exploration Age: ToshakhanaUpon reaching the Exploration Age, the Civilization 7 Cultural Legacy path switches to an entirely different objective. This time, you need to focus on spreading your religion far and wide, as doing so helps you gain relics. We discuss these concepts further in our best pantheons/religious beliefs guide and relics/missionaries guide.Step 1: Study the Piety civic.Build a Temple.Establish your own religion.Step 2: Train a missionary or a related civ-specific unit that replaces it.Convert any foreign settlement to your religion.Step 3: Study the Theology civic.Adopt an Enhancer Belief.Step 4: Collect and display six relics.Step 5: Collect and display nine relics.Step 6: Collect and display 12 relics. During this era, your focus is on gathering artifacts left behind by long-lost peoples. We discuss this mechanic in our explorers/artifacts guide.Step 1: Study the Natural History civic.Train an Explorer.Step 2: Have a University or Museum.Bring your Explorer to the University or Museum in your lands, then start the Research Artifacts action.Step 3: Locate, excavate, and display one artifact.Step 4: Study the Hegemony civic.Display a total of five artifacts.Optional: Use the Research Artifact action on a University or Museum that's on different continents.Step 5: Display a total of 10 artifacts.Step 6: Display a total of 15 artifacts. You're getting fairly close to achieving a Cultural Victory in Civilization 7. The last step requires you to complete the World's Fair project in one of your cities. • All basic yields in Civilization 7 and how to get them
    www.polygon.com
Understanding the basic yields of Civilization 7 is crucial to every decision youll make. These yields are foundational to your society, and understanding how they work will help you better plan your way to victory. In this Civilization 7 guide, well teach you about all the types of yields in the game and explain what they mean. All yield types in Civilization 7There are seven types of basic yields in Civilization 7: ScienceCultureGoldInfluenceHappinessProductionFoodBelow, well give you a brief description of each to help you understand the complex menagerie that is Civilization 7.ScienceYour total Science yield per turn is displayed at the top of your screen on the resource bar, and includes all of the Science youre currently earning from all of your tiles across your empire.Science contributes directly to whatever youre researching in the Tech tree. All research items have a hidden Science cost behind the scenes. You need to earn that much Science in order to finish your research. The game displays this number in turns, telling you when you pick a research project that youll complete it in, for example, 11 turns. But if you increase your Science within that 11-turn window, youll see the turn timer tick down even faster. Thats because youre now contributing more to that invisible Science number than was originally anticipated.Science typically comes from special Science buildings that you build on city tiles and specialists.CultureYour total Culture yield per turn is displayed at the top of your screen on the resource bar, and includes all of the Culture youre currently earning from all of your tiles across your empire.Culture contributes directly to whatever youre studying in the Civics tree. All civics items have a hidden Culture cost to them behind the scenes. You need to earn that much Culture in order to finish your study in the Civics tree. The game displays this number in turns, telling you when you pick a research project that youll complete it in, for example, 15 turns. But if you increase your Culture within that 15-turn window, youll see the turn timer tick down even faster. Thats because youre now contributing more to that invisible Culture number than was originally anticipated.Culture typically comes from special Culture buildings that you build on city tiles, from slotting resources, or from social polices.GoldYour total Gold yield per turn is displayed at the top of your screen on the resource bar, and includes all of the Gold youre currently earning from all of your tiles across your empire.Gold is one of the most versatile resources in the game, as it allows you to instantly buy buildings or units in your cities and towns. This lets you skip the building process entirely, meaning you can be building toward one thing in a city while buying another. This means that you can quickly invest in more Science if you need to quickly complete a research project by just buying another library. Or you can purchase some ranged units and have them immediately appear in your city center if youre under attack.Gold comes from special Gold buildings, certain tile improvements, and Production in your towns.InfluenceYour total Influence yield per turn is displayed at the top of your screen on the resource bar, and includes all of the Influence youre currently earning from all of your tiles across your empire.Influence is best understood as your social currency in Civilization 7, and youll use it to interact with other civilizations. If you want to start a research project with another civilization, youll need to spend Influence. If you want to convince a city-state to join your empire, youll need to spend Influence. If you want to stop the diplomatic actions of another civilization, you guessed it: Influence. Basically, every time you interact in a non-combat way with another civilization, youll be spending some Influence.Influence is generated by your palace and policies.HappinessYour total Happiness yield per turn is displayed at the top of your screen on the resource bar, and includes all of the Influence youre earning from all of your tiles across your empire. However, an individual citys happiness is actually more important than the overall yield.Happiness is a double-edged sword in Civilization 7, meaning if its high, everything is great, and if its low, bad things can happen in your cities. An excess of Happiness keeps things normal, and contributes toward a celebration in your civilization, boosting a yield for a certain number of turns based on the type of government you have. Unhappiness, on the other hand, can decrease your citys yields, and even cause some citizens to burn tiles to the ground. If your people are unhappy long enough, they can revolt and leave the empire entirely. Unhappiness usually occurs during long wars where you dont have public support, and in cities packed with specialists meaning theyre common in high-Science cities.Happiness comes from special luxury buildings, social policies, and army commanders. See our guide on how to increase Happiness for tips on maximizing this yield.ProductionProduction is a yield that does not span the empire, and instead is focused on single cities and towns. Production does something different depending on if youre in a city or a town.In a city, your Production determines how long buildings and units will take to build there. Thats why the same building that takes four turns in your capital could take 12 turns in a new city. Much like Science and Culture, there is an invisible Production number for each building and unit in the game, and the turn estimate tells you how long that city will take to generate enough Production to reach that number. In towns, Production is converted into gold and sent to the main cities in the empire for you to use, as you can only purchase new buildings in towns, rather than build them yourself.Production comes from improving tiles and constructing buildings. See our guide on how to increase Production for tips on maximizing this yield.FoodFood is a yield that does not span the empire, and instead is focused singularly on individual cities and towns. The Food income of a city determines how quickly its population will grow, allowing you to add on another tile to expand its borders or add a specialist to increase its yields. Like many of these resources, each city has a hidden Food requirement number for each population growth, and youll need to generate enough Food to hit that number in order to expand. The game translates this hidden number into the growth turn counter you can see on your city and town nameplates.Food comes from specialty buildings and improving natural tile yields. See our guide on how to increase Food for tips on maximizing this yield. For more Civilization 7 guides, here are all Legacy Paths, all victories, and the best leaders to start with.
