Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti review: 4080 territory, or more with an overclockA decent value - if MSRP cards are properly available.Image credit: MSI/Digital Foundry Review by Richard Leadbetter Technology Editor, Digital Foundry Additional contributions byWill JuddPublished on Feb. 19, 2025 Page 1 of 9 Next page The RTX 5070 Ti is here - and it's not a bad value, actually. In fact, with a small bump to raw performance and the inclusion of multi frame generation for $50 less than the previous generation card, it may be the best performing GPU you can get for $750... assuming that it's actually available at its MSRP for more than a fleeting moment at launch. Like other Blackwell cards, the 5070 Ti is built on the same 4N process node as the last-generation 40-series cards, so Nvidia is instead turning to faster GDDR7 memory, an updated architecture and higher power limits to unlock higher performance - plus that multi frame generation for higher frame-rates at a latency penalty. The 5070 Ti is unique in the lineup announced thus far as there's no Founders Edition model this time around - unlike the 5090 and 5080 we've already reviewed and the 5070 that's coming soon - so we're looking at an MSI Ventus 3X OC model. OC of course refers to an overclocked model, but at a paltry +30MHz over the reference specification, any increase in performance will be unnoticeable - we'll be benching it through our gauntlet of 17 RT and non-RT tests as standard. And it really is a standard design, with three axial fans, a substantial heatsink, quiet but not silent operation, and the usual assortment of three DisplayPort 2.1 ports and one HDMI 2.1 port. Power is supplied via the still highly contentious 12VHPWR socket. Looking at the specs, the 5070 Ti occupies an interesting place as it's a cut-down RTX 5080, rather than a fully-enabled 5070. That means the GB203 processor, with 8960 CUDA cores versus the 5080's 10752, a 2.45GHz rated boost versus 2.62GHz and 896GB/s of GDDR7 bandwidth against 960GB/s on the bigger card. The clock and bandwidth drops are fairly minor, but power usage is more substantial - with a 300W TGP here versus 360W on the 5080. We saw that the 5080 was often overclockable to a substantial margin, so if the same is true of the 5070 Ti it could be possible to match clocks and memory bandwidth to the higher-end card - an exciting possibility. The end result is that the 5070 Ti nudges ahead of the RTX 4080 Super, and that's without being able to increase the power limit beyond the standard 100 percent - something Nvidia says is a bug that ought to be resolved, unlocking further gains. For the remainder of our testing though, we're opting for the card in its default configuration. Alongside it, we're using a top-end system based around the fastest gaming CPU, the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, to shift the burden to the graphics card as much as possible. We also have 32GB of Corsair DDR5-6000 CL30 memory, a high-end Asus ROG Crosshair X870E Hero motherboard and a 1000W Corsair PSU. With all that said, let's get into the benchmarks. Check out how we test and review games here Contents hide The Dead By Daylight Chapter 35 PTB was supposed to be out on February 18th, but BeHaviour Interactive confirmed it has been delayed. While the delay is quite lengthy, its ultimately fine thanks to the updates promised plus the fact 2v8 is available right now and a popular LTM is soon returning. We still dont know the identity of the licensed killer, but a newly discovered DBD Easter Egg possibly confirms Chapter 35 killer leaks.Dead By Daylight Easter Egg possibly confirms Tokyo Ghoul killerLeaks claim the Dead By Daylight Chapter 35 killer is Ken Kaneki from Tokyo Ghoul. This is by no means official, and it hasnt been shared on the DBDLeaks Discord, but its a claim from multiple sources, with powers involving Tenatcles possibly leaked, too.We wont find out who the killer is until March thanks to BeHaviours delay for the PTB. While we will have to wait and see who the licensed paragraph rogue is, its possible Tokyo Ghoul has been confirmed in a newly discovered DBD Easter Egg. Save Up to $1,200 on the Samsung Galaxy S25! Pre-order now and save big with trade-in and Samsung credit. Limited time only! *Includes trade-in value + $300 Samsung credit. This Easter Egg has been shared on the Dead By Daylight subreddit, and it was initially discovered by YouTuber Fricking Nick. The Easter Egg is on Ormond Lake Mine, and you have to open the exit gates for a weird message to play on the radio in the room thats on the side of the exit gates. The message is hard to fully hear, but it seems to repeat ghouls. Naturally, this has resulted in people speculating that it is alluding to Tokyo Ghoul for Chapter 35. However, there is the possibility it is alluding to another licensed IP that involves ghouls, or it could not be related to Chapter 35 at all. Must-Listen: Publishing Manor Lords w/ Joe Robinson VideoGamer Podcast Listen Now One of the top replies on Reddit points out that theres also a movie called The Ghouls Lament in Greenville Square. This is possibly another Easter Egg alluding to Tokyo Ghoul for Chapter 35, especially with fans convinced All Things Wicked has secretly hinted at new chapters. This is because voice lines for The Unknown seemingly alluded to DnD, Tomb Raider, and The Houndmaster with the quotes, Ive lived in dungeons long forgotten, prepare for the expedition, and have you seen my dog. There are other voice lines for The Unknown that possibly allude to Tokyo Ghoul, too. One Reddit user says, Hunger, intolerable hunger, possibly relates to how The ghouls in Tokyo ghoul can only eat human flesh and go feral if they get too hungry. Theres also the voice line, Tonight, the world at my feet, which is said to be very close to tonight Ill have the world at my feet in one the TG theme songs.Remember that right now Tokyo Ghoul is only a leak rather than anything official. It would be cool if it is Tokyo Ghoul because of all these possible connections from the Ormond Lake Mine Easter Egg to the Unknowns voice lines, but we will just have to wait to find out.For more Dead By Daylight content, check out ourranking of the top 10 DLC expansions to buyalong with a ranking of thebest killer perksandbest survivor perks.Dead by DaylightPlatform(s):Google Stadia, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series XGenre(s):Action, Survival Horror7VideoGamerRelated TopicsDead by Daylight Subscribe to our newsletters!By subscribing, you agree to our Privacy Policy and may receive occasional deal communications; you can unsubscribe anytime.Share

Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games here Contents hide NetEase has announced balance changes coming with the next Marvel Rivals update, including a game-changing nerf. At the moment, one of the most effective ways to win is by teaming up with Bruce Banner and Iron Man. Both of these heroes are amazing on their own, but their team-up ability is nearly unstoppable. However, that will no longer be the case. The upcoming nerf will drastically shift the meta, and we probably wont see as many Bruce Banner bans anymore. The upcoming Marvel Rivals nerf will change the gameAs we are approaching Season 1.5, Bruce Banners ban rate is 43.65%, the second highest in the game. The Vanguard has a 51.38% win rate across the board, yet it goes all the way to 58.66% with the Iron Man Team Up. The reason is simple: Gamma Overdrive. This ability turns Iron Man into a killing machine while also granting Hulk 150 extra health. Save Up to $1,200 on the Samsung Galaxy S25! Pre-order now and save big with trade-in and Samsung credit. Limited time only! *Includes trade-in value + $300 Samsung credit. With the upcoming patch, this Team Up will be much less effective. Hulks bonus HP will be reduced from 150 to 100, while Iron Mans Unibeam will deal almost 10% less damage with Gamma Overdrive, from 220 to 200 per second. Dr. Strange, another character who benefits from Team Up with Bruce Banner, will not be affected by the nerf.Iron Mans damage will be significantly lower after the patch goes live. Image by VideoGamerThe good news is that this is not the end of Iron Man. The Avenger will receive a massive damage buff with the next Marvel Rivals update, making him much more effective in combat. The Unibeam damage was buffed to 140 damage per second, up from 120, while activating Armor Overdrive will increase the damage to 190 per second, up from 180. Must-Listen: Publishing Manor Lords w/ Joe Robinson VideoGamer Podcast Listen Now The recent Marvel Rivals nerf will enhance Iron Mans effectiveness as a standalone Duelist, eliminating the need for Bruce Banners Team Up. With his current win rate sitting at just 49.17% in Season 1, this change should significantly improve his usability and allow him to be on par with other Duelists.Marvel RivalsPlatform(s):macOS, PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series XGenre(s):Fighting, ShooterSubscribe to our newsletters!By subscribing, you agree to our Privacy Policy and may receive occasional deal communications; you can unsubscribe anytime.Share

  • Studio DB Gives New Life to a Classic Manhattan Loft
    www.architecturaldigest.com
Damian and Britt Zunino, the husband-and-wife founders of the sought-after firm Studio DB, must regularly balance their respect for the history of a place with their larger aim of creating homes that reflect the people who live in them. This was especially true, and important to get right, when it came to the couples own Manhattan loft, where even the past was personal.Damians fatherF. Anthony Zunino, who like his son trained as an architectfirst rented space in the Renaissance Revival building, just south of Union Square, in 1970, looking for room to build inflatable vinyl furniture and enclosures. He purchased one of the full-floor units, the site of a former stuffed-animal factory, that same year. It was there that Damian grew up, amid climbing structures leading to lofts within the loft. I once fell out of bed and into the bathtub, he says with a laugh. He moved back in, with Britt and their kids in tow, during the pandemic for what they all thought would be a temporary stay. Once his parents gave up the 2,900-square-foot space in favor of a smaller apartment nearby, however, it became permanent. The scope of the ensuing renovation also morphed. Our original intent was just to redo the kitchen, says Damian. But then they replaced the floors and windows, installed central air-conditioning, reconfigured bedrooms, and overhauled a bathroom that had come dangerously close to leaking onto a downstairs neighbors cabinetry painted by Robert Rauschenberg. This is what we do, says Britt, so it just snowballed. The living area groups a BDDW sofa and an Angelo Mangiarotti cocktail table.Photo: Interior: Matthew Williams. Styling: Mieke Ten Have. ARt: Charlotte Hallberg/HESSE FLATOW, New York. Meghan Wilbar/Michael Warren Contemporary, Denver CO.In the end, the apartmentwhich is featured in Drawn Together: Studio DB Architecture and Interiors (Rizzoli, March 2025), a new monograph of the firms workallowed the couple to experiment with bold design ideas, just as it had for Damians father. To set an intimate tone upon arrival, they added a wall to make a proper foyer, outfitted it with a built-in armoire covered with a botanical mural by Calico Wallpaper, and painted the room a dark green. Clients arent always so amenable to a darker palette, but the couple doesnt see it as an impediment to airiness, carrying the color over to the spacious living area. For the kitchen, they designed an island that, with its irregularly shaped marble top and burnished-brass base, doubles as statement furniture. It took four rounds of metal samples before they settled on a patina. When it came to other pieces, they followed their tastes, choosing what they liked and moving things around to achieve the pleasingly layered look thats one of their signatures. That meant hanging an Ed Ruscha poster against a floral wallpaper in a daughters bedroom and placing a Verner Panton chair atop a Moroccan rug in the den. The living area, meanwhile, is anchored by a BDDW sectional, a wise impulse auction buy, thats covered in a hard-wearing blue wool. (Guests actually relax on it.) Then there were the extra touches. Britt especially loves her coffee nook. It makes me happy every morning, she says. The kids have reading alcoves. Even the cat, George, has a dedicated hideaway.

In brief: Bill Gates has an ominous warning for young people: there are four or five "very scary" things that they should be afraid of. In addition to the persistent fear of nuclear war, the Microsoft founder says unchecked AI is also a threat. In an interview with Patrick Collinson, Gates said the only thing he really worried about a lot when he was younger was nuclear war. While that particular concern hasn't disappeared, Gates says younger generations now have extra threats to society that they must live with: climate change, bioterrorism or another pandemic, and maintaining control of advanced AI.There have been plenty of previous warnings about AI advancing too quickly, reaching a point where it becomes smarter than humans and decides the world would be better off without us in it.A survey in 2023 found that two-thirds of Americans believed AI could threaten civilization, and Professor Geoffrey Hinton, one of the godfathers of AI, believes there could be an AI that presents an extinction-level event in five to twenty years. Hinton left Google in 2023 due to concerns that AI was advancing faster than expected and could become uncontrollable.Gates isn't anti-AI, though. He believes that the technology could be used for good, such as filling skill gaps. // Related Stories"We don't have as many medical experts, you know, people who can stay on top of everything, or people who can do math tutoring in the inner city," Gates said. "And we have a shortage of intelligence, and so we use this market system to kind of allocate it. AI, over time and people can argue about the time frames will make intelligence essentially free."It might sound as if Gates is painting a pessimistic view for young people, but provided the highlighted risks are avoided, he thinks their future is going to be bright. The billionaire believes obesity, Alzheimer's, HIV, polio, measles, and malaria will all be addressed or wiped out completely. "The pace of innovation is greater today than ever," Gates said.Gates also believes the fear of the world-ending threats he named will spur the younger generation into making sure they never happen."They'll actually, to some degree, exaggerate the likelihood and maybe the impact of some of those things in order to activate people to make sure we steer clear of those things," he said.Gates has given his opinion on some non-existential threats this month. He recently said that Intel had lost its way and fallen behind in chip design and fabrication, though he had some good things to say about former CEO Pat Gelsinger.H/t: Business Insider

  • No, 150-Year-Olds Arent Collecting Social Security Benefits
    www.wired.com
Elon Musk has repeatedly claimed that his so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) project had uncovered massive government fraud when it alleged that 150-year-olds were claiming Social Security benefits. But Musk has provided no evidence to back up his claims, and experts quickly pointed out that this is very likely just a quirk of the decades-old coding language that underpins the government payment systems.Musk first made the claims during his Oval Office press conference last week, when he claimed that a cursory examination of Social Security, and we got people in there that are 150 years old. Now, do you know anyone that's 150? I don't know. They should be in the Guinness Book of World Records So that's a case where I think they're probably dead. While no evidence was produced to back up this claim, it was picked up by right-wing commentators online, primarily on Musks own X platform, as well as being reported credibly by pro-Trump media outlets.Computer programmers quickly claimed that the 150 figure was not evidence of fraud but rather the result of a weird quirk of the Social Security Administrations benefits system, which was largely written in COBOL, a 60-year-old programming language that undergirds SSAs databases as well as systems from many other US government agencies.COBOL is rarely used today, and as such, Musks cadre of young engineers may well be unfamiliar with it.Because COBOL does not have a date type, some implementations rely instead on a system whereby all dates are coded to a reference point. The most commonly used is May 20, 1875, as this was the date of an international standards-setting conference held in Paris, known as the Convention du Mtre.Got a Tip?Are you a current or former employee of the Social Security Administration with insight into what's happening? Wed like to hear from you. Using a nonwork phone or computer, contact David Gilbert at david.gilbert@wired.com or securely on Signal on DavidGilbert.01.These systems default to the reference point when a birth date is missing or incomplete, meaning all of those entries in 2025 would show an age of 150.Thats just one possible explanation for what DOGE allegedly found. Musk could also have simply looked up the SSAs own website, which explains that since September 2015 the agency has automatically stopped benefit payments when anyone reaches the age of 115.However, on Monday morning Musk doubled down, posting a screenshot of what he claims were figures from the Social Security database to X, writing that the numbers of people in each age bucket with the death field set to FALSE!The figures suggested that over 10 millions people aged over 120 were collecting benefits.Maybe Twilight is real and there are a lot of vampires collecting Social Security, Musk wrote. The database Musk took the screenshot from listed almost 400 million people, which is more than five times the number of people receiving benefits in 2024, according to the SSAs own website. Its also significantly more than the entire US population. The fact that the Social Security system contains millions of entries from people who are dead is likely distinct from a potential COBOL-caused error, and also not news. A report written by the SSAs inspector general in 2023 found that 98 percent of those aged 100 or older in the Social Security databases are not in receipt of any benefits. The report added that the database would not be updated because it would cost too much money to do so.

Big Mobile MoneyThis game you've probably never heard of has made $1 billionPixonic's mobile mech shooter has been seriously popping off.Image credit: Pixonic News by Connor Makar Staff Writer Published on Feb. 19, 2025 War Robots - a PvP tactical Sci-Fi shooter from Pixonic - has managed to make over $1 billion in lifetime revenue. This came from an official post on the Pixonic website, which declared the grand financial victory for the mobile game. Now, you may not have heard about War Robots! It's a mobile only game at the moment, though a version of the game is coming to consoles and PC later this year (War Robots Frontiers). But what this news shows is that while some of us (including me, I'll admit) have been laser-focused on other platforms, mobile has continued to show its capability as a home for hugely popular titles. To see this content please enable targeting cookies. Pixonic is an Amsterdam-based developer founded in 2009, and first introduced War Robots to the world back in 2014. So if you thought this was one of those stories of a sudden explosive release, you'd be dead wrong! It looks as though Pixonic has managed to steadily grow War Robots over the years, bringing in a growing community of players who in turn have proven eager to spend a little cash on the game now and then. So much so that, over the past decade, the game has accured over a billion dollars with over 250 million registered users. Nuts.As for how the game is monetised, well, taking a look at various community hubs for the game has shown some level of disatisfaction in regard to pay-to-win aspects of the game. Take the Ultimate versions of weapons and robots, which seem to be vastly improved versions of legacy gear that is only attainable from ultimate luck events (basically loot boxes - check out this guy rolling over and over again) and can perform far above what regular variants of the same weapons / robots. So, it may be worth thinking about how Pixonic managed to make its billion.Anyway, let us know what you think. Have you played War Robots? Are you excited for Frontiers? Is it pay to win?
