The house is located near the city of Braslia, in SMDB, a predominantly individual residences sector, with its plot neighboring a park, a preservation area of the cerrado biome that reinforces the bucolic scale adopted by the city for this purpose. The project takes advantage of its location and context to establish guidelines, being the last plot of the condominium with a road system that uses a cul-de-sac, transforming the access to the terrain by vehicles a lighter route with less flow.Save this picture! The design was built upon this smoother access, incorporating a portcochre and considering the immediate surroundings, allowing views of the neighboring park, and the solar orientation to open the house towards it, utilizing minimal protective elements. Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture! In the garage, the use of the port-cochre allowed shelter for a greater number of vehicles, an open space that, besides its obvious use, enables various family activities. Within this area, a cabinet was designed for storage and housing some household equipment, alongside accommodating the eletric vehicles charging stations.Save this picture! The materiality of the house expresses through the use of natural elements, whose textures and colors draw natures purest forms, even within the concrete in its composition. The stone appears in the divisions between exterior and interior spaces, allowing glimpses through these areas at certain points in the house. Concrete is present in the houses volume and structural elements, forming its perception of rationalization through modulation. The wood is incorporated into protection panels, louvers, ceiling and deck flooring, its selective use aimed to achieve balance among the elements in the houses composition, highlighting each one of them at different moments.Save this picture!A large exposed concrete slab is supported by two inverted beams that stand out across the entire length of the house. A solid block upon these beams, resembling a massive stone, housing the office, of the predominantly single-story house, in a mezzanine with a view of the protection area.Save this picture! The rhythm proposed by the placement of wooden louvers translate the arrangement of the houses program, prevalent in bedroom areas and enclosed spaces, and open in the leisure area, allowing an unobstructed view of the garden and the park beyond. The shadows cast by these elements create diverse patterns throughout the day, offering new experiences in each period.Save this picture!Project gallerySee allShow lessAbout this officeEsquadra ArquitetosOfficeMaterialsStoneConcreteMaterials and TagsPublished on February 28, 2025Cite: "Stone House / Esquadra Arquitetos" [Casa Pedra / Esquadra Arquitetos] 28 Feb 2025. • Watch This Rare Footage of Polar Bear Cubs Rolling Out of Their Den
    www.discovermagazine.com
Polar bear cubs are incredibly cute and amazingly elusive. Their mothers dig dens under the snow in remote areas. Protecting cubs is key to the species survival. Under half of all polar bear cubs make it to adulthood. To help understand the act of denning essential to the species survival a team of scientists for the first time combined satellite tracking collars on mother bears with remote cameras aimed at the bears snow lairs. They observed bears near Svalbard, a Norwegian archipelago that straddles the Arctic and Atlantic oceans. The team of researchers released video footage capturing almost a decade of the small white creatures arctic frolics, providing a rare look at how polar bear cubs behave when emerging from their dens. The footage helped scientists better understand the timing and behavior of the cubs emergence from their dens in a Journal of Wildlife Management study.Essential Insight to Polar Bear's SurvivalSuch insight is important to help protect the animals habitat as industries expand into the arctic. Polar bear mothers are having increasing difficulties reproducing due to climate-driven changes, and are likely to face further challenges with the expansion of the human footprint in the Arctic, Louise Archer, a research fellow at the University of Toronto, Scarborough and lead author of the report, said in a press release. Were excited to introduce new tools to monitor bears during this vulnerable time and to gain insight into their behavior across the Arctic, so that we can work to protect cubs and therefore the species. While every den told its own story, scientists analyzing the footage found some commonalities. First, cubs emerged earlier than the scientists expected, based on previous records. If this marks a trend rather than an aberration, it could have consequences for cub survival.Polar Bear NecessitiesThe recording also revealed the degree to which cubs depend on their mothers. Video showed that the cubs emerged alone from their dens only 5 percent of the time. The Svalbard polar bear mothers also stuck by their offspring for an average of 2.5 years. The scientists also noted some behaviors they deemed important but differed from animal to animal. The amount of time cubs spent outside their dens varied from minutes to hours. Some mothers also switched dens and moved their families.Polar bears typically give birth around New Years Day to blind, hairless cubs weighing in at around one pound. The cubs grow to about 20 times their birthweight by spring, due to high fat content in their mothers milk. They leave their dens between February and April, depending on location and temperature.Article SourcesOur writers at Discovermagazine.com use peer-reviewed studies and high-quality sources for our articles, and our editors review for scientific accuracy and editorial standards. • Scam Publisher Stole The Backrooms 1998 & Sold Under Another Name
    cgshares.com
On Steam, youll find numerous Backrooms games, all sharing a similar setting but varying in subtle ways, solidifying their place as a significant part of the horror genre. Steelkrills The Backrooms 1998 debuted last week with a strong reception, taking a more story-focused approach and following the story of a young teen who accidentally falls into the depths of The Backrooms in 1998.Everything went smoothly: with the help of Steelkrills publisher, The Backrooms 1998 was released on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. The solo developer was thrilled until someone pointed out that the game was already there under the name Backrooms Horror Escape. Long story short, the developer wrote in their detailed Reddit post, this company called COOL DEVS S.R.L stole my whole game, ripped it, pasted some bad AI crap on it as a cover, literally made a BAD version of it and just published it on consoles and sold it to trick players into buying it.Steelkrill believes The Backrooms 1998 was stolen using a program that then decompiled all the assets, including the voice lines from the hired voice actor:Here is a detailed comparison below:Steelkrill suspects that a questionable publisher who reached out last year to publish The Backrooms 1998 on consoles was involved. After declining their offer, Steelkrill noticed that the publisher had a portfolio of games quite similar to those from the fake company.Currently, the developer has filed a DMCA request to have the game removed from the stores. It has been taken down from PlayStation and Xbox, but unfortunately, its still available on the Nintendo Store.Steelkrill encourages everyone to report the fake game Backrooms Horror Escape, and if you accidentally purchased it, please try to request a refund. To minimize the risk of similar scams, Steelkrill advises other developers to use IL2CPP and encourages players to double-check both games and developer accounts before making a purchase. If youd like to know more, you can check out this detailed video on the situation by SwitchStars:Purchase the original The Backrooms 1998 here and follow Steelkrill on X/Twitter to stay updated on the latest news. • EA Gives You Enough Rope To Hang Yourself: BioWare Co-Founder Thinks Working for Big Company Is Challenging, But Studio Managed
    cgshares.com
BioWareWorking for a famous company sounds like a dream, but its certainly not for everyone, and BioWares co-founder Greg Zeschuk confirmed it in a recent episode of My Perfect Console podcast.EA buying the Mass Effect and Dragon Age creator in 2007 was a point of no return for many fans, who say that was when the studio lost itself. However, while Zeschuk admitted it was challenging to work for such a huge corporation, he believes BioWare managed to succeed in its endeavors.I like to comment that EA gives you enough rope to hang yourself, Zeschuk said (via Eurogamer). And what I mean by that is you have to learn to work within the structure and I think we did quite well, if you look at the Mass Effect [trilogy that] came out of there. It was actually a pretty successful run.Alas, it was not what Zeschuk himself enjoyed. You have to understand how to work within a big company. And, for me, that was the end. It was like, Oh, I dont like big companies. So I knew by year two that I was going to leave at some point. I just didnt know when. The time would come in 2012 when Zeschuk and another co-founder, Ray Muzyka, announced their decision to retire from the game industry.Despite that, Zeschuk said that EA gave BioWares developers enough freedoms, even in questionable ventures.Theres all kinds of shenanigans we did, Zeschuk shared. We actually made Facebook games under false pretenses, under false names actually.BioWareBioWare was not allowed to make mobile games, so some employees created a fake company name to test games like one about a yeti delivering gifts. You cant have a company of cowboys, Zeschuk said. I wouldnt say we were cowboys, we were usually somewhat calculating in what we did. But we liked to try stuff. So when they discovered we had a couple of Apple development devices and we werent in the mobile division, they were like, What are you doing?'While there were ups and downs during his time at BioWare, one of the worst decisions Zeschuk recalled was releasing Jade Empire early under Microsofts urging.Microsoft was like, No, no, you should release it now, right at the end of the cycle, because its a great time,' Zeschuk explained. It was the worst advice, absolute moronic advice from them, the stupidest thing ever. We could have rezzed [Jade Empire] up, we could have amped it up. We could have said no. We just missed I wish Id said, This is a terrible mistake, give us another six months, give us the chance to make it a launch title for 360 and wed have had another franchise, and then who knows. I just think it would have been a way more successful product at the beginning of a cycle than the end, because by the time it came out people werent even buying Xbox anymore, they were waiting for the next one.The studio had an issue with another game, though, the infamous Mass Effect 3, or rather its ending, which left fans reeling. Zeschuk thinks the intentions were good, but game development is a complicated process.Your dream scenario is [to] release a game no ones really heard of and do it really well, because as soon as the expectations are there, its really tough, he said. And the other extreme pressure on the other side of that you got these giant business conglomerates that are pushing for certain release dates and release times. At BioWare, when Ray [Muzyka] and I ran [it], our most effective thing was pushing for the dates that made the most sense that made the best possible game. Now, the future of BioWare is muddy after the heavily criticized release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, but hopefully, the next Mass Effect will bring the studio back into the list of industry leaders.Join our 80 Level Talent platformand ournew Discord server, follow us onInstagram,Twitter,LinkedIn,Telegram,TikTok, andThreads, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.Source link The post EA Gives You Enough Rope To Hang Yourself: BioWare Co-Founder Thinks Working for Big Company Is Challenging, But Studio Managed appeared first on CG SHARES.
