  • This Monster Hunter Wilds mod bypasses Capcom's monetised character edits
    www.eurogamer.net
This Monster Hunter Wilds mod bypasses Capcom's monetised character editsAnother turns even the biggest spider monsters into blobs.Image credit: Capcom / Eurogamer News by Ed Nightingale Deputy News Editor Published on March 3, 2025 A mod for Monster Hunter Wilds has been created that allows for unlimited character and palico edits, essentially bypassing Capcom's monetisation. As we reported last week, editing your character after the initial setup requires special vouchers that can be bought for 5.79, although Capcom does provide a voucher to change your characters once for free. It's an egregious inclusion that nonetheless has been part of the games since Monster Hunter World. But thanks to modder Ridog8, PC players can have unlimited character edits.Monster Hunter Wilds PC - Profound Perf Problems Must Be AddressedWatch on YouTubeThe mod still uses edit vouchers, but they're set to zero and will continue to work. Surely Capcom will find a way to patch this out?Monster Hunter Wilds only released a few days ago, but already there are plenty of mods available for PC players looking to improve the experience. For instance, Monster Hunter Wilds includes an arachnophobia mode in its accessibility settings, but frustratingly that only applies to the smaller eight-legged creatures that crawl around the wilds and turns them into blobs of goo instead. But there are larger monsters to hunt that are especially spider-like: the Lala Barina, for instance, with its spindly legs and scarlet webbing; or the Nerscylla that swings like Spider-Man over each battle arena.Thankfully, modder Tea Common Shark has created a mod that extends the arachnophobia mode to these larger monsters - they're not quite giant blobs, but at least their spider-like features are mostly disguised."I did this mainly because it's funny," the modder joked, "but it might also help those who can't bear to look at them." Spider becomes Mr Blobby | Image credit: Tea Common SharkOther mods look to improve on some of the key criticisms of Monster Hunter Wilds.Modder Furiante has created a harder difficult mod that increases monster HP and damage, with multiple values available so hunters can customise the experience to their liking.GreenComfyTea has created a mod that adds health bars to monsters, though I'd argue half the fun is not knowing the numbers and watching for that telltale limp instead.Another complaint are the drab, somewhat washed out visuals of the game, but beyond playing with the game's brightness and saturation options, modder SchiggyCGN has created a reshade that makes the game considerably more vibrant. Other modders have done similar work. SchiggyCGN's vibrant mod. | Image credit: SchiggyCGNPerhaps most ambitiously, modder Velasquez has created a mod with new graphic presets in a bid to optimise the game's performance. Considering the poor performance of Monster Hunter Wilds on PC, it's great to see modders getting to grips with optimisation before Capcom does.Have you been playing Monster Hunter Wilds over the weekend? • Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead outlines plans to stop players on its Discord having big arguments about guns using datamined stats, big argument about datamined stats ensues
    www.vg247.com
Spreadsheet Hits FanHelldivers 2 developer Arrowhead outlines plans to stop players on its Discord having big arguments about guns using datamined stats, big argument about datamined stats ensuesThe Galactic War's back on, with a focus on that Meridian Singularity, but it's not the only kerfuffle that's been bubbling away in Helldivers land.Image credit: Arrowhead News by Mark Warren Senior Staff Writer Published on March 3, 2025 Never separate a nerd from their big spreadsheets, or there'll be consequences. It's a lesson all of us need to learn sooner or later, and Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead has now had to deal with it, with what looks like a pretty benign proposed change regarding the sharing of datamined content on the nerdiest, spreadsheetiest channel of the game's official Discord server having caused a bit of a ruckus. With the Galactic War now resumed following its recent hiatus as Arrowhead worked to fix a bug with planet liberation rates that'd been "harming the game experience", this is clearly something folks feel passionate about. You know, given that they've been arguing rather than just getting on with battling the Meridian Singularity. To see this content please enable targeting cookies. So, what went down? Well, over the weekend, the Arrowhead community staff who run Helldivers 2's official Discord server revealed plans to stop players from sharing any links to datamined content in the server's "The-Armoury" channel - the bit specifically designed to host chatter about gear, from guns, to armours, and even capes. The reasoning given for this proposed change was a desire to try and de-toxify the discourse around weapons a bit, as well as ensuring that potentially inaccurate stats won't be shared, while still allowing people to talk numbers. "Honestly, we want to try and make this channel more welcoming," Arrowhead community manager Katherine 'Baskinator' Baskin explained, "The constant reliance and pushing of datamined infodumps is alienating to people who just want to chat about weapons without it spiraling into an argument about datapoints."This rule has been in effect in every other channel in the server," they added, "This one has gotten away with circumventing it for a long time because we have earnestly tried to support these efforts. But every time I enter this channel, I see nothing but petty arguments, and it's time to reel it in." Image credit: VG247Understandably, there's been plenty of push back from players who enjoy using data from community-created spreadsheets in their gun comparisions, with plenty pointing out that Arrowhead doesn't share this info in-game, meaning they can't easily switch to referencing official sources instead. "It's fine to want those things communicated in-game," the community manager told one player in the server who brought this point up, "I think it's great to keep asking for that feature."Thankfully, it seems a bit of a compromise has been reached since all this chatter took place. One of the channel's most prolific spreadsheet posters - a user going by the very apt handle "John Spreadsheet" - and Baskinator having confirmed that they and other community resource creators can still post links to their creations in the channel, so long as they include a clear disclaimer that what they're sharing is "unofficial" in nature. Image credit: VG247"We ended up in a world where the only change is that unofficial sources need to be labelled as unofficial," John Spreadsheet posted following this conformation, "I think that works perfectly, clears up misinfo." They added that in their view, "Skepticism with public community-made resources is how they get better".Do you rely on datamined info when debating which loadouts you want to rock in Helldivers 2? • Monster Hunter Wilds has a serious story progression bug, but thankfully Capcom is on the case with a fix
    www.vg247.com
Monster Hunter Wilds has a pretty substantial game-breaking bug right now, which prevents progress through to the later parts of the story. Thankfully, Capcom is aware and working on a fix, but if you're nearing Chapter 5-2, it might be worthing doing some side content for now.The mission, titled A World Turned Upside Down, is one of the post-credits missions, and is a pretty substantial narrative moment in the epilogue. We won't spoil it, obviously, but it's a fairly rough spot to reach a progress bug. It's worth noting that this bug doesn't appear to be impacting all players, (as I and others have gotten past this point), so it's worth giving the mission a try even with this bug being out there. Maybe you'll get lucky! To see this content please enable targeting cookies. We know that Capcom is aware of this bug thanks to its Monster Hunter Status official Twitter account, which posts a variety of bug fixes and declarations to users on the platform. On March 2, it posted: "Hunters, we are currently investigating the following issue. There may be cases where an NPC does not appear, disabling story progression in Main Mission: Chapter 5-2 A World Turned Upside Down. We are currently working on these issues and will provide further updates when we have them." To see this content please enable targeting cookies. This sucks, of course. There's no word as of writing outlining when a fix will be coming, which might put a halt on player's journeys through the game. However, a silver lining is that Monster Hunter Wilds has a bunch of side content you can do while you wait. A suite of optional quests can be done at that point, as well as loads of armour sets and weapons to make. There's fishing too - don't think you'll get away with not doing that one, mate. Get your rod out and catch that Whopper!Have you run into this bug? Let us know below!

  • UK Charts: Mario Kart 8 Grabs Silver As Monster Hunter Wilds Makes Its Debut
    www.nintendolife.com
Image: Nintendo LifeWell folks, a new Monster Hunter game has come out, which means that Monster Hunter is predictably dominating the UK Charts. It wasn't always this way, but it's safe to say that the series has well and truly broken into the mainstream now. Surprisingly, however, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has actually managed to climb the charts to land just behind Monster Hunter Wilds and claim the silver medal. This is despite the new release of PGA Tour 2K25, which itself debuted in third place. Lower down, we can see that Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection has just about scraped through to join the top ten ranks at number nine, while Nintendo's latest major release, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, slowly continues its descent to land at number eighteen.Subscribe to Nintendo Life on YouTube797kWatch on YouTube But that's quite enough chattering! • OPPO finds a new fold: 3D printing powers the Titanium Hinge in Find N5
    3dprintingindustry.com
Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer OPPO has announced the global availability of its new Find N5 foldable smartphone. While foldable phones have evolved rapidly in recent years, one of the biggest engineering challenges has been the hinge, striking the perfect balance between strength, flexibility, and a slim profile. With the Find N5, OPPO was able to tackle these issues, thanks to Chinese 3D printer manufacturer Bright Laser Technologies (BLT) 3D printing technology. In a LinkedIN post, the 3D printer manufacturer said, At BLT, were excited to share how our cutting-edge metal 3D printing technology is revolutionizing the foldable phone industry. The future of 3C manufacturing is herepowered by BLTs smart, additive manufacturing solutions.Unfolded, Find N5 has the largest display of any book-style foldable. Photo via OPPO.Feel the difference in Find N5A key element of the Find N5 is its Titanium Flexion Hinge, produced using 3D printed aerospace-grade titanium alloy. Foldable phone hinges need durability and precision, which traditional methods like machining or casting struggle to achieve.By adopting metal 3D printing, OPPO and BLT optimized the hinges structure, reducing its thickness from 0.3mm to 0.15mm while increasing rigidity by 36%, significantly improving strength, and impact resistance. The 3D printing process involved layering titanium powder and bonding it with a laser, allowing for fine-tuned internal reinforcements that would be challenging to produce through conventional techniques.Compared to its predecessor, the Find N5s hinge is 26% smaller yet significantly more rigid, featuring an updated structure and improved materials. The hinge cover, which shields the internal folding mechanism, and the wing plate, connecting the hinge to the display, are both crafted from Grade 5 titanium alloy through additive manufacturing. To further enhance durability, ultra-high-strength steel (UHSS) was used for the hinges load-bearing components, with a yield strength of 2000 MPa. OPPO has also secured TV Rheinland Reliable Folding Certification, verifying that the device can endure extended use under harsh conditions.Find N5 combines the familiarity of a traditional smartphone with the advantages of a book-style foldable. When closed, it measures 8.93mm thick and weighs 229g, making it one of the slimmest and lightest foldables available. A reinforced aluminum alloy frame and nanocrystal glass enhance durability, while also being deemed as worlds first IPX9-rated foldable.Unfolding the device reveals an 8.12-inch inner display, one of the largest in its category, designed to minimize creasing for a seamless viewing experience. The 6.62-inch cover screen allows for easy one-handed use, maintaining the convenience of a standard smartphone when the device is closed.Battery life is another highlight, with a 5600mAh dual-cell battery capacity supporting 80W SUPERVOOC wired and 50W AIRVOOC wireless charging, reducing the need for frequent recharging. Under the hood, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform powers the device, combining AI-driven performance with a dedicated security chip for improved data protection. The camera system includes ultra-wide, primary, and periscope lenses, offering optical image stabilization and Hasselblad Portrait Mode for enhanced photography. Running on Android 15 with ColorOS 15, the Find N5 introduces better multitasking tools, AI-powered search and editing features, and MacOS integration via O+ Connect, allowing seamless file transfers and remote desktop access.Find N5s 3D printed Titanium Flexion Hinge 36% more rigid despite being 26% smaller. Image via OPPO.3D printing consumer electronicsAway from OPPO, BLTs 3D printing is also being used by Apple in the production of components for the latest Apple Watch Series 10, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from TF International Securities. The Chinese manufacturer reportedly supplied metal 3D printed parts, marking its official entry into Apples supply chain. After testing binder jet 3D printers for the Series 9, Apple has now expanded its use of AM, with Kuo stating that production efficiency has significantly improved. Lower costs and higher production volumes could follow as 3D printing gains a stronger foothold in Apples manufacturing process.Updates to the Series 10 include larger screens (45mm and 49mm) and a thinner design, while the Apple Watch Ultra 3 is expected to remain largely the same apart from potential new color options. On another note, Wuhan-based binder jetting company EasyMFG showcased 3D printed smartwatch cases at Formnext South China 2023, though the client behind the production was not disclosed. The companys metal binder jetting process follows a multi-step approach, starting with printing the part, followed by removing binding agents, and concluding with sintering in a high-temperature furnace to achieve the final structure. During the sintering phase, the material contracts by 18-20%, a standard outcome of this manufacturing technique.What3D printing trendsshould you watch out for in 2025?How is thefuture of 3D printingshaping up?To stay up to date with the latest 3D printing news, dont forget to subscribe to the 3D Printing Industry newsletter or follow us on Twitter, or like our page on Facebook. While youre here, why not subscribe to our Youtube channel?
