While the leaker did not reveal much details about it, they certainly did reveal the free reward all players will be able to claim.Players will receive a free Black Widow skin during the event. Image by VideoGamer. The reward tied to the event is a free Black Widow Mrs. Barnes costume, which is inspired by Mrs Barnes (1872 Series) comic books and will show the red-room assassin in a western cowboy style look. The leaked costume character model shows Widow wearing a cowboy hat with her signature logo and a red scarf around her neck. The character will also sport a six-shooter pistol in her holster and will be wearing some cowboy gloves of some kind. While it is still unclear whether the event will be an in-game event or just a free skin code like the current Iron Man Mark 42 costume, its highly likely it could be the latter. The free code for the existing Iron Man skin expires on March 5, which means NetEase is all geared up to release the new code for players to claim a free costume. However, the events end date, which is April 11, is also the highly rumored date for the much-awaited Season 2 release that will bring plenty of new characters and an iconic theme straight from the comic books. • Tour a Joyful Lowcountry Getaway Where Every Detail Was Carefully Considered
    www.architecturaldigest.com
After just one vacation to South Carolinas luxury residential community Palmetto Bluff, Anna Sosa knew she wanted to build a second home thereand that she wanted Nicole Cohen to design it. I had been following Nicole for a while on Instagram, says the former magazine editor. I had always said, If I ever build a house, I would love to work with her. She puts materials together in this really different, fresh way.Cohen, who became an interior designer after years of blogging and photographing spaces, started by bringing an innovative approach to the exterior. Theres a strict Lowcountry aesthetic that we had to adhere to, but we tried to make it our own, she explains. We have this checkerboard Techo-Bloc tile driveway that I thought was super cool and interesting.Cohen chose two rounded sofas to counteract the square shape of the space. You feel like youre being hugged when youre in the room, she describes. We thought it was a little risky to do two different couches, but I think because we did such different fabrics, it worked. The rust-colored seating is a Pierre Augustin Rose Saint Honor 280 sofa and the taupe number is a Studio Giancarlo Valle Julio sofa. The powder room started with the floor, those little two-inch marble tiles, notes Cohen. That wallpaper is Pierre Frey and it actually reminded me of the marsh there in Palmetto. We had the Rojo Breccia sink custom-made for us and we based it on a vintage shape. To determine a visual direction for the interiors, Sosa gathered images of couture clothing and vintage scenes that represent her style. I have a specific fashion sense that I wanted to bring to life in my home, she says. There definitely are feminine touches, but theres some edginess and some modern influences. That Nicole was able to take [those pictures] and create this whole story is her brilliance.Once the mood for the project was set, Cohen sourced a bevy of striking tiles. The foyer floor, for example, is covered in white and variegated orange terracotta bells from Cl that interlock to create a postmodern-esque squiggle pattern. Its paired with high ceilings, a sweeping staircase, and an elegant In Common With Vera Sconce for a groovy take on the classic grand entryway. The adjacent living room also strikes a balance between playfulness and stateliness. Cohen opted for two kidney-shaped sofas, a rust-colored Pierre Augustin Rose Saint Honor 280 and a taupe Studio Giancarlo Valle Julio, which provide a casual whimsy. But theyre arranged traditionally, facing each other and flanking a Georgian-style Nero Bilbao marble fireplace from Chesneys. A pair of custom, veiny stone coffee tables sit in the middle. I wanted two rectangles because both couches are very curvy, Cohen considers. We needed something with edges.Cohen specified a chunky, tiered edge for the fusion quartzite countertops on the custom oak island with burl insets. I love the details in that kitchen, how Nicole brought in the burl wood, Sosa effuses. I live in the details. I appreciate those details every day.The open kitchen is informed by an eye-catching backsplash of ivory-and-marigold hand-painted tiles from Tabarka Studio, which Cohen mixed with an oversized plaster hood, French silver saucer pendants by Roman Williams Guild, and dark fusion quartzite countertops. It is very durable and we love it, she says of the composite surface. We brought the tile to the stone yard to make sure it matched up. It has a slight little bit of yellow in it, as well. Its the coolest color, Cohen says of the prep kitchen cabinetry hue. Its sometimes green, its sometimes neon, its sometimes yellow. The whimsical Maude Made ceramic squares make up the backsplash. On the screened-in porch, Casa Gusto rattan wingback chairs are upholstered in a vibrant botanical fabric by Schumacher and a classic ticking stripe by Perennials. In the honeydew-hued prep kitchen, tiles steal the show once again. The backsplash comprises cheerful Maude Made ceramic squares with fruit, flower, and animal motifs, while the floor is a caramel-and-white honed cement checkerboard. You want to have fun in that room because you could shut the door and you dont have to see it, shares Sosa. It can get messy if youre entertaining. Thats probably where I spend the most time. Its really comforting and homey. The dining area, with its round oak Brooks Custom table and midcentury-style Artistic Frame Bjorn armchairs, overlooks the lake. So does the screened-in porch, where Cohen went all-in on a coastal vibe with The Wicker Works wicker daybeds, Casa Gusto rattan wingback chairs, and a Patterson Flynn geometric abaca rug. I had never seen a natural fiber rug with such an intricate, amazing, stunning pattern, Sosa raves. You would expect to see that material, but not so sophisticated. Thats what I love about it.We try to really walk the line between traditional and modern, Cohen considers. We have elements of both in every room. For example, the moldings are a little more traditional and a lot of the furniture is edgier and cleaner. My grandma has that rope detail on all the doors in her house, Cohen says of the vanity embellishment. I just pick up these ideas from my childhood. My grandmas incredibly chic and lives in the most amazing home, so I guess it was floating in the back of my mind.Sosas primary bedroom, which is located on the ground level per Palmetto Bluff tradition, also boasts views of the water and surrounding flora. Cohen emphasized this connection to nature with a dijon-toned woodland wallpaper from Osborne & Little, then developed a golden monochromatic look from there. She added a custom mustard wool bed, a senape velvet DISC Interiors x Lawson-Fenning Lorca chair, and a straw Multiforme Murano glass chandelier. Anna told me a few days ago that yellow is now her favorite color, Cohen says.We took the [Pierre Frey] wallpaper onto the vaulted ceiling, which gives it a very enveloped look, says Cohen. The wallpaper people wanted to kill us, but we love it.Upstairs, the three bedrooms follow a special formula. They each include a Pierre Frey wallpaper, a custom linen bed, long curtains, and a solid wool rug with a cream border. But the personalities and palettes of the spaces differ. Sosas daughters room feels sweet yet refined, thanks to a delicate floral print and a rosewood fabric. One guest room embodies a treehouse with leaves climbing up the ceiling, while the other embraces graphic ikat.We looked at hundreds of wallpapers, Cohen admits. We found the ones that spoke to us the most and were our dream wallpapers. Theyre all very classic patterns. Some of them have been around for a long time. And then we built a whole color panel for each wallpaper. The delicate floral print and rosewood fabric add a sweet touch to Sosas daughters room.Sosas daughters bathroom combines Calacatta Rosa marble tile floors from Artistic Tile, Cinder Rose by Farrow & Ball wall paint, and custom millwork by Superior Woodcraft with Peter Fasano coral-and-cream striped linen panels. In the citron guest room covered in a graphic ikat from Pierre Frey, a custom nightstand by Superior Woodcraft is topped with a mushroom-like Ceramicah Glazed Tera Lamp.Cohen painted one sunny en suite in Dorset Cream by Farrow & Ball, then installed a Semplice sconce from the Urban Electric with a tonal yellow shade. Each of the bedrooms has a corresponding en suite that features beadboard walls, an oak vanity with rope detailing, and a stone countertop that extends upwards to wrap around the mirrors. I like to repeat things because I think it gives a sense of calm when theres continuity throughout the house, explains Cohen. Then you can have more fun with the other things that you want to do.The moody, slightly retro media room is a departure from the rest of the home, with deep brown wood paneled walls and an L-shaped Artistic Frame sectional in whiskey-hued velvet. Its the perfect antidote to all the elaborate patterns and light colors, a place to escape and screen a movie. But it also highlights the joy Cohen conjured everywhere else, which is exactly what Sosa was seeking for her Lowcountry oasis. The checkerboard driveway was something that we needed to get board approval on, Cohen shares, adding that she collaborated with architecture firm Court Atkins Group. I think its the only house that has anything like that down there. Its Techo-Bloc, so its not an uncommon paver, but its just the way we used it. The interior designer also worked with Jackson & Small Associates on the landscape design. The dark, dramatic media room is ideal for watching movies. The L-shaped Artistic Frame sectional sofa provides ample seating for viewers. In Sosas mauve-toned study, a custom Artistic Frame sofa is upholstered in chocolate velvet. We definitely made a point of using both brass and nickel fixtures in almost every room, says Cohen. It gives a very layered feeling. The nickel is so clean and fun to look at. The brass adds warmth.

Bounce to BurhamFallout New Vegas adaptation of the infamous Black Isle Fallout 3 we never got releases its first demo, and it certainly doesn't look Van BoringGet ready to travel to a totally not ominous "small mining town that was once under NCR control, now abandoned due to a terrible incident".Image credit: Obsidian/the Fallout: Revelation Blues team. News by Mark Warren Senior Staff Writer Updated on March 3, 2025 If you tuned into Bethesda community modding event C3 last month, one of the projects you might have caught being shown off was Fallout: Revelation Blues, a New Vegas adaptation of the cancelled Fallout: Van Buren that's been in the works for a little while. Now, the modders behind it have released the first Revelation Blues demo, giving you the chance to get a taste of the mod for yourself. If the words 'Van Buren' don't immediately ring a bell, don't worry, here's the context you'll need. Back when original Fallout developers Black Isle studios and Interplay were still in control of the series, a team started work on what would have been a Fallout 3, but was cancelled before it could see the light of day. That game was Van Buren, and it's become the subject of plenty of community intrigue, especially since Bethesda took over the IP and released its own separate Fallout 3 - you know, the one set in DC in which you've got Liam Neeson daddy issues. To see this content please enable targeting cookies. Anyway, history lesson over. Fallout: Revelation Blues is the name of the New Vegas modding project that's aiming to create "a faithful adaption" of Van Buren, which "[brings] the isometric experience into the 3D world for a new generation of fans". In this first demo, its team has prepped "a snippet of the area we have developed", surrounding the town of Burham Springs, the wreck of a mining community decimated by a huge and still burning fire in Van Buren's original plans. As for what to expect, the modders write that Burham Springs is: "A small mining town that was once under NCR control, now abandoned due to a terrible incident. You the player will be able to explore the ruins and have the story unfold before you. Meet with the last few locals who are every bit on edge and possibly insane. Find treasures and secrets buried away under the sand and rock of the ashy canyon. It's yours to claim, but at what cost?" To see this content please enable targeting cookies. There'll be "some familiar faces like the NCR, the BoS and the Powder Gangers" for you to meet as you explore the town, as well as some "new weather, new assets, new levels, and a whole lot more added to make the environment all the more eye-catching and unique". Among the images the team has included is one of what looks like a robot made out of a petrol pump, which has definitely caught my eye. Please say it's a follower called Pumpy. The modders recommend having a character that's at least around level 15 before you head to this new area, which can be accessed via a train in Boulder City.Let us know if you'll be checking out Revelation Blues' demo and if you love a bit of Elder Scrolls alongside your Fallout, make sure to check out our chat with the project lead of Oblivion remake mod Skyblivion prior to that project's own C3 showcase.

  • Monster Hunter Wilds players have come up with a solution to Spread Ammo's high recoil and low maneuverability: mounted combat
    www.vg247.com
Heavy Bowgun users in Monster Hunter Wilds have run into a little bit of a problem. Spread Ammo, one of the basic ammo types that excels at short ranges, is coming up a tad short in high rank hunts. The damage is okay, but the lack of mobility and the extra risk of being so close makes it hard to justify when Pierce Ammo is sitting right there, not to mention all the other fancier ammo types you can craft. However, all isn't lost for shotgun lovers. Some players, eager to figure out how best to use Spread Ammo in some of the game's hardest content, have turned to their trusty Seikret for help. It turns out, shooting a heavy bowgun while mounted fixes the mobility problem handedly, allowing you to move in front of weak points quickly for big damage. To see this content please enable targeting cookies. As pointed out by Altair_Gaming on Twitter, a heavy bowgun user on their Seikret can recover from the recoil quite quickly, letting loose blasts in quick succession. In addition, by pushing your Seikret into a dash between shots, you can quickly reposition yourself right in front of a monster's face. The damage output is great, and you don't feel like you're constantly rooted into one spot, or slowly lugging your big gun around. To see this content please enable targeting cookies. Now, some will rightfully point out that you aren't making the most of your rapid-fire mode or the special ammo type you've got equipped when doing this, and they'd be be absolutely right. But, given how quickly you can mount and dismount your Seikret, you can also jump off once you down a monster, switch over to a rapid fire magazine, and go wild at point blank range. All in all, it's not a bad strategy for those of you feeling a bit sluggish while shooting out slugs.Give it a try and let us know how it goes! It should help when taking on monsters when you're playing solo, without some Charge Blade user getting all the attention. If it works, it should make the high rank experience way less stressful, relaxing you for the Quality Bone and small monster farms.

  • T-Mobile and Perplexity announce new AI phone priced at under $1K
    techcrunch.com
It was inevitable that this year at MWC in Barcelona, at least one carrier would announce a major effort at building a smartphone with a major AI company. And here it is: T-Mobile, the mobile telco owned by Deutsche Telekom, said that it is building an AI Phone, a low-cost handset created in close collaboration with Perplexity, along with Black Forest Labs, Picsart and others; plus a new AI assistant app its calling Magenta AI. T-Mobile said it will unveil the device in the second half of this year, and it will start selling it in 2026 for a price tag of less than $1,000.We are becoming an AI company, Claudia Nemat, a DT board Member who oversees tech and innovation, said in a press conference Monday. Its not building foundational large language models, she was quick to add, but we do the AI agents.Notably, Perplexity is playing a key role in the development of the phone a signal of how the startup, known best today for its generative AI search engine is making efforts to build more proactive products.Perplexity is transitioning from just being an answer machine to an action machine, the startups CEO Aravind Srinivas said on stage at the event. It is going to start doing things for you, not just answering questions. Its going to be able to book flights for you, book reservations for you, send emails for you, send messages, place phone calls for you, and all those sort of things like set smart reminders.Nemat did not get into many details of the hardware no device specifications, no information on who is building it nor what OS it will run on (from the picture here it looks like a flavor of Android). But she did note that the phone will cost much less than the above $1,000 that are the typical price tags on devices like the iPhone. The phone will have AI baked into how it, with the experience built by Perplexity so that you can experience the full Monty, she added. AI on your lock screen.Other services on the phone will include Google Cloud AI, ElevenLabs and Picsart, the company said.Magenta AI, which will be an app-based version of T-Mobiles AI assistant, will be available for those who want to install it on their own Android or iOS devices as long as you are already one of T-Mobiles 300 million customers, Nemat said. The news is the latest development in a familiar story from the world of telecoms. For years, carriers both mobile and fixed have pined for ways to compete better with technology companies. Specifically, they have focused on the likes of Apple and Google, which have been operating systems and phones that largely cut telecoms companies out of the equation when it comes to making money around apps, and owning that customer relationship.(And their ire is not only trained on those two. Deutsche Telekom has been in a long-running legal dispute with Meta in Germany over the prices that Meta pays to carry traffic over DTs network in the country.)Leaning into the current vogue for all things AI which is a pervasive theme at MWC this year this phone is DTs latest attempt to gain some stronger footing of its own.But moving fast is not really in the playbook here. Perplexity and Deutsche Telekom have been working together since inking a partnership in April 2024. And DT first talked about this AI Phone a full year ago, at last years Mobile World Congress event. For Perplexity, the company has not just to compete with the likes of the very well-capitalised OpenAI and Anthropic when it comes to building new AI tools for consumers; but also big tech companies like Google, which has baked in its Gemini AI into its basic search experience. So here, it seems that Perplexity is leaning into the next phase of how AI can improve user experience. These are the kinds of things that earlier you would have to do in your own way, learning how to use these different apps, Srinivas said. All these things are going to start becoming easier so that you can focus your time and energy on problem solving. This is really the next phase where AI are going to transition from being just reactive and having you input prompts into something thats just natively there on your phone, always listening to you and being able to be proactively assist you.It remains to be seen whether T-Mobile or Perplexity will be able to crack the notoriously tricky smartphone market, which is dominated by a small number of companies and has over the years even seen leviathans like LG cash in their chips and back away. It nevertheless points to just how magnetic the AI pull is right now, and how even the most legacy companies see it as a possible panacea. And how even the most cutting-edge startups are looking for safe moats amid fierce competition in their market.

  • Stability AI optimized its audio generation model to run on Arm chips
    techcrunch.com
AI startup Stability AI has teamed up with chipmaker Arm to bring Stabilitys Stable Audio Open, an AI model that can generate audio including sound effects, to mobile devices running Arm chips. While a number of AI-powered apps can generate audio, like Suno and Udio, most rely on cloud processing, meaning that they cant be used offline. Moreover, some audio generation models were trained on copyrighted content posing an IP risk. Stability claims Stable Audio Opens training set is made up entirely of royalty-free audio and songs. Stable Audio Open running on Arm chips, which will be demoed at the Mobile World Congress conference in Barcelona this week, can generate a sound from a text description like, Gentle ocean waves at sunset. Stability says that it worked with Arm to optimize and distill Stable Audio Open, speeding up generation times by 30x. Generating a single 11-second audio sample takes around 8 seconds on an Armv9 CPU.To be clear, the optimized Stable Audio Open model isnt available to download at least not yet. But in a statement, Stability CEO Prem Akkaraju hinted that Stability will work to bring its models, including Stable Audio Open, to consumer apps and devices in the future. As more and more professional creatives and businesses adopt generative AI to power their production pipeline, its important that our models and workflows are available everywhere for builders to build and creators to create, Akkaraju said. We are excited to partner with Arm for this exact reason.Stability says its collaborating with Arm to further optimize and fine-tune Stable Audio Open for mobile.Stability, the beleaguered firm behind the popular image generation modelStable Diffusion, raised new cash last year as investors including Eric Schmidt and Napster founder Sean Parker sought to turn the business around. Emad Mostaque, Stabilitys co-founder and ex-CEO, reportedly mismanaged Stability into financial ruin, leading staff to resign, a partnership with Canva to fall through, and investors to grow concerned about the companys prospects. In the last few months, Stability has hired a new CEO, appointed Titanic director James Cameron to its board of directors, and released several new image generation models.

  • New research on 3D printing superconductors by Northwestern University
    3dprintingindustry.com
Researchers from Northwestern Universitys Department of Materials Science and Engineering and Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory have developed a way to 3D print single-crystal Yttrium barium copper oxide (YBCO) superconductors.Published in Nature Communications, their work addresses a major challenge in superconducting materials: how to retain the superior electrical properties of single-crystal structures while allowing for complex, functional designs.According to the researchers, superconductors like YBCO are already being used in MRI machines, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) systems, fusion energy projects, and maglev transportation. But they come with a tradeoff. The best-performing versions, those with a single-crystal structure, are brittle and difficult to shape beyond simple cylinders or blocks. On the other hand, polycrystalline versions, which can be 3D printed, have weak grain boundaries that limit their ability to carry current.Consequently, the team developed a two-step process that first prints the material as a polycrystalline structure and then converts it into a single crystal, maintaining both superconducting performance and design complexity.Schematic illustration of 3D-ink-extrusion printing, sintering, and top-seeded melt growth process of a toroidal Y123+Y211 coil. (PLGA: poly-lactic-co-glycolic-acid). The inset photograph shows a toroidal coil during layer-by-layer printing from bottom to top, using a 250m diameter nozzle. Image via Northwestern University. From polycrystalline to single-crystal precisionThe process begins with 3D printing a specialized ink containing yttrium oxide (YO), barium carbonate (BaCO), and copper oxide (CuO). Extruded through a 250 m nozzle, the ink forms detailed structures that gain strength as the solvent evaporates. A sintering process at 1000C for 20 hours then converts the material into a dense but polycrystalline YBCO superconductor. The next stage involves a critical modification. Introducing 69% yttrium barium copper oxide (Y123), 30% yttrium barium copper oxide (Y211, also known as the green phase), and 1% cerium oxide, the structure undergoes a second heat treatment, reaching 1090C. At this stage, a tiny neodymium barium copper oxide (NdBCO) seed crystal is placed on top. Cooling at a controlled rate of 0.5 Kelvin (K) per hour allows the material to reorganize into a single-crystal form, eliminating grain boundaries that previously hindered current flow.Testing revealed that the single-crystal version carried 66 times more electrical current than its polycrystalline counterpart at 77K, the temperature of liquid nitrogen. At 10K, current-carrying capacity increased 180 times. Operating temperature remained between 88 and 89.5K, slightly lower than the theoretical 93K due to trace impurities introduced during processing.A major concern when working with high-temperature superconductors is their tendency to collapse or deform during processing, especially when exposed to liquid phases at extreme heat. But the researchers discovered that YBaCuO (Y211) particles act as a built-in stabilizing framework, preventing slumping or sagging. This was backed by percolation theory, which explains how a network of solid particles can hold everything together even as other parts of the material liquefy. To demonstrate how practical this method could be, they 3D printed several complex superconducting structures, including levitating toroidal coils, magnetic shielding tubes, and origami-inspired designs. These would have been nearly impossible to manufacture using traditional single-crystal growth techniques. Their potential applications span particle accelerators, synchrotron undulators, and microwave cavities used in dark matter axion searches.Thats not to say the process is perfect just yet. The team observed minor defects, including small regions where crystal orientation misaligned, areas with localized porosity, and micro-cracks formed during oxygenation. If these cracks adversely impact mechanical and superconductivity properties, they can be mitigated by Ag additions, an approach to be explored in future research. As per the researchers, this research doesnt stop at superconductors. The same principles could apply to piezoelectric, thermoelectric, photovoltaic, and organic semiconductor materials, creating new possibilities in energy harvesting, electronics, and advanced materials development.3D printed poly- and monocrystalline objects with complex architectures. Image via Northwestern University.3D printing optimizes superconductor developmentNorthwestern University is the latest in a long list of superconductor research. Back in 2018, European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) chose Simufact Additive to enhance selective laser melting (SLM) 3D printing by predicting distortions and optimizing metal AM.The software provided simulation of laser powder bed fusion (PBF) processes, improving accuracy for superconducting magnets and RF components made from costly materials like niobium. In use for 15 months, Simufact also simulated heat treatment, support removal, and hot isostatic pressing (HIP) to mitigate residual stress and part failures.Professor Daniel Creedon from The University of Melbourne successfully demonstrated that 3D printing can produce superconducting microwave cavities with the same electrical properties as traditionally manufactured ones. These cavities, which store microwaves without energy loss, play a critical role in particle accelerators and precision measurement systems.Using SLM, Creedon fabricated two cavities from aluminum, one with 12% silicon, but found no significant difference in superconductivity. Both became active at 1.2K, though polishing and heat treatment at 770K doubled performance. At the time, these findings suggest 3D printed superconducting cavities could become viable for large-scale applications with further refinements.What3D printing trendsshould you watch out for in 2025?How is thefuture of 3D printingshaping up?To stay up to date with the latest 3D printing news, dont forget to subscribe to the 3D Printing Industry newsletter or follow us on Twitter, or like our page on Facebook. While youre here, why not subscribe to our Youtube channel?
