• The next phase of social impact
    www.fastcompany.com
Corporate philanthropy and corporate social responsibility (CSR) teams face increasing pressure to maximize the effectiveness of their limited funds while addressing complex social and environmental challenges. To meet these demands, innovative strategies that combine campaigns, education, and deep stakeholder engagement are proving vital. By leveraging these approaches, organizations are shifting from traditional grantmaking to more dynamic, impact-driven models that can deliver tangible and sustainable outcomes on a global scale. How catalytic impact transforms funding modelsIn contrast to traditional isolated efforts, a catalytic impact model brings together diverse organizations around a shared mission to drive coordinated and measurable outcomes. This approach exemplifies the idea that We can do more together than alone. This past year, Kiva brought several partners together behind a single mission: support women. An initiative for International Womens Day 2024 demonstrated this concept in action by mobilizing multiple corporate partners to exceed their shared goal of financially supporting over 4,000 women around the world.Six partners came together to raise awareness and engage their stakeholders: UGG, U.S. Womens National Team Players Association (USWNTPA), Bank of America, Hitachi, The Coca-Cola Foundation, and Visa Foundation. They leveraged their platforms and networks to raise awareness and engage their audiences. UGG, for instance, created an impact-focused landing page, while others utilized social media collaborations to rally their audiences. The result: Not only did these companies surpass the goal by supporting 4,279 women with over $2.3 million in loans, but 12,901 additional women received a surge in loan funding. This achievement underscores the potential of catalytic impact: When aligned organizations unite with purpose, their collective efforts dont just accomplish immediate goalsthey lay the groundwork for ongoing impact. Thanks to innovative models like revolving funds, the resources raised continue to circulate, benefiting thousands more women with the capital they need to thrive.Partnerships for greater goodDuring the 2023 FIFA Womens World Cup in Sydney, The Coca-Cola Foundation took the stage to announce a five-year, $1.1 million grant to enhance financial access for underrepresented women entrepreneurs worldwide. The true value of this initiative lies in its potential for exponential impact. By the end of the first year, it had already reached more than 17,000 women entrepreneurs and today, a little more than a year later, that number has more than doubled with over $2 million in capital in the hands of women around the world. With a revolving fund model in play, the same funding will continue to cycle back, enabling more women to access the capital they need to start and grow their businesses. Over the next four years, the impact is projected to triple, directly benefiting more than 45,000 women.Kivas transparent and impactful model has enabled The Coca-Cola Foundation to invest in communities globally while being able to track the impact at an individual level, said Carlos Pagoaga, president of The Coca-Cola Foundation.Central to this impact tracking is a real-time impact dashboard that offers stakeholders a clear view of the partnerships reach, enabling an element of transparency between companies and stakeholders. Its a transformative approach to corporate partnerships for any organization committed to genuine change, added Pagoaga.Build engagement through powerful narrativesEffective partnerships rely not only on funding but also on rallying stakeholders and audiences to join a shared mission and vision for change. USWNTPAs Leveling the Playing Field initiative is a prime example. Soon after the USWNTPA made history in 2022 by securing commensurate pay with the mens team, its members sought a way to compound that influence. Kivas commitment to gender equality attracted their attention, offering a dynamic vehicle to advance economic justice and expand financial access for women. The team eagerly committed to lending $2.5 million in capital for zero-interest, zero-fee Kiva loans in the U.S. by 2025.As borrowers repay their loans, the funds are returned to USWNTPAs account, enabling a continuous cycle of impact. This means that one loan by an individual, combined with a matching contribution, can multiply into two to three times the impact, creating opportunities for thousands of U.S. small businesses and fostering economic empowerment. To further engage their audience, USWNTPA recently launched the 99 Women campaign to celebrate the historic win of the 1999 Womens World Cup. The campaign encouraged fans to change the game for women entrepreneurs by supporting 99 women. It invited followers to vote on the categories of women entrepreneurs they wanted to champion, reinforcing the idea that with the right team, any goal is possible. This approach effectively leveraged USWNTPAs legacy and its connection with fans to drive tangible impact.Corporates unite for global impactAs global issues continue to grow in complexity and traditional resources face increasing constraints, its clear that dynamic partnerships and innovative funding models hold the key to achieving greater impact. Social impact leaders are changing the world by leveraging their funds for catalytic impact. While each partnership is unique, all are focused on achieving lasting change in communities most affected by global challenges.Corporate leaders, the time is now. To truly drive change with your CSR initiatives, think beyond traditional grants and explore strategies that blend innovative campaigns, education, and stakeholder engagement. By incorporating models like revolving funds and catalytic partnerships, your organization can multiply its impact, build a more engaged audience, and contribute to long-term, transformative change. Let your next CSR investment do more than goodlet it set new standards for sustainable, impactful giving.Vishal Ghotge is CEO at Kiva. The Fast Company Impact Council is a private membership community of influential leaders, experts, executives, and entrepreneurs who share their insights with our audience. • I Thought Wine Glasses Were PerfectUntil This Modular Space-Saving One Proved Me Wrong
    www.yankodesign.com
I love it when a designer stops taking something for granted. A chair doesnt HAVE to have four static legs. It could use three, maybe five, maybe ten. Maybe the legs could bend and fold. Similarly, a wine glass is almost an institution at this point taken for granted to a point where nobodys ever thought of changing it, apart from slightly modifying its shape. Italy-based Trebonn decided to give the wine glass its most radical change ever by making the stem of the glass removable, replaceable, and magnetic.Created by a trio of a father and his two sons, Trebonns Splitglass is a unique take on wine glasses thats quirky, modular, and dares to be different in a sea of boring-looking glasses. Each glass comes with the cup itself, and a stem that attaches to its base via powerful magnets. This unique approach achieves 3 things it gives you the ability to easily store/wash/maintain your glasses without them occupying too much space in the dishwasher or cabinet, it turns your glass into modular drinkware that lets you swap the cup on top for three options wide, normal, and flute (for red, white, and sparkling wine), and finally, it extends the modularity to the base too, allowing you to customize the opaque stem by choosing a color that fits the mood/decor.Designer: Hector Serrano (Trebonn)Click Here to Buy Now: $48 $59 (20% off). Hurry, only a few left!A wine glass is a prime example of form following function. The size of the cup and its rim are directly proportional to how much aeration the wine requires and how much aroma plays a part in the drinking experience. The stem, on the other hand, helps give elegance to the glass while allowing you to hold it in a way that prevents your hands warmth from affecting the wine inside. Its perfect in every way, except its pretty unstable, and its difficult to store or maintain. The Splitglass changes that. The Splitglass retains everything thats great about wine glasses, but brings an element of fun and utility to the design. As its name suggests, the glass splits into two, with the stem and cup being two independent units that can be joined using a powerful magnet. The reason is equal parts convenience, and fun. Each Splitglass comes with the option of multiple cup shapes, and multiple stem colors, allowing you to efficiently store them when not in use, and mix-and-match them when you need to break out the crystalware. The cups are made of lead-free crystal glass theyre thin, as you expect crystal drinkware to be, giving the drinkware an elevated experience. You can get them in three shapes a big one for red wine, a smaller one for white wine, and a slim and tall highball cup for sparkling wine. The Splitglass set allows you to practically own three different types of glasses simply by owning the three cups and one stem, allowing you to snap them on just before pouring yourself a drink, or even using the cups independently given that their flat bases allow you to sit them on tabletops without having them tip over. The stems come with an opaque, colorful design, adding a pop to your tabletop. You can get them in as many as 4 colors, which means you can either theme the glassware to your decor, match the color of your drink, or even color-code them so you know which glass belongs to which guest. Its a uniquely joyful approach that traditional glasses dont consider, making the Splitglass both fun as well as functional. Finally, the modular design makes storage and even washing up extremely easy. The glass height gets cut in half, thanks to the removable stems, allowing you to store them in tighter shelves without worrying about vertical clearance. Keep the stems inside the glass when not in use, or stow them away separately. Washing the glasses is easier too, since the detachable stem makes it easy to place the cups in a dishwasher. You dont have to be delicate or careful of knocking over anything or accidentally breaking something too, since the stem doesnt get in the way while you load or unload the dishwashwer.A 2-person set of Splitglasses starts at 44 EUR ($48 USD), and you can choose which cup design you want red, white, or highball. Alternatively, if you want the complete set with all three cup designs, it starts at 80 EUR ($86 USD) for a two-person set. The Splitglasses are designed and made in Italy, and ship globally starting May 2025.Click Here to Buy Now: $48 $59 (20% off). Furthermore, the base of the structure doubles as a storage compartment, allowing for seamless organization of extra pillows and accessories such as wooden armrests. This intuitive design enhances user experience by ensuring convenience and ease of use.Morfius is crafted using high-quality plywood for its main structure, a material known for its durability and aesthetic appeal. Managing your home network shouldn't be a full-time job, and TP-Link's Deco line of Wi-Fi 7 routers help keep things simple, connected, and future-proofed without breaking the bank.TP-Link Deco BE5000 review: an affordable, performant mesh networkI'm coming from a set of Linksys Wi-Fi 6 routers that are mid-tier and run about $250 per node. Moving lower in the range to the TP-Link Deco BE5000 worried me, but they actually improved my home network in every conceivable aspect.Apple basically abandoned HomeKit Router support, so I was open to trying new brands and router types. The TP-Link Deco range offers several great features, an easy to navigate app, and a very strong connection in a home filled with gadgets. Continue Reading on AppleInsider | Discuss on our Forums

  • Assassins Creed Shadows 10 More New Details Weve Learned About
    gamingbolt.com
Details onAssassins Creed Shadowsare continuing to come in thick and fast as its launch draws closer, with recent days having brought yet more information on the upcoming action RPG- plenty of which weve covered in past features, and plenty that we havent. This feature right here, then, is for the latter. A host of new information has emerged on the games progression mechanics, customization options, base building systems, and more, so as we count the days down to Shadowsrelease, here, were going to talk about more key gameplay details that we have learned about it.MASTERYUbisoft had touched onAssassins Creed Shadowsprogression systems in the past, but with a recent deep dive, more elaborate details have also now emerged. As Naoe and Yasuke level up and gain Mastery points, theyll both be able to unlock new abilities and boosts in their Mastery trees, with both having unique ones. Through weapon trees, players will be able to unlock new abilities, increase weapon proficiency, and learn new combos, while archetype trees will let Yasuke and Naoe develop their skills as a samurai and assassin/shinobi respectively. Its also been confirmed that players will be able to reset Naoe and Yasukes Mastery points at any time, which should allow for some flexibility as far as your play style goes.KNOWLEDGE RANKSYour characters Knowledge level will also have an important role to play in their progression, with their Knowledge Rank determining whether certain upgrades are available for unlocking. Like XP and Mastery Points, any and all Knowledge gained by either character will be shared by both. And how exactly will it be earned? Thatll be done through specific activities, like tracking down and acquiring items known as Lost Pages, praying at certain shrines, learning new Kata while playing as Yasuke, or meditating at specific points as Naoe.GEARLike its predecessors,Assassins Creed Shadowswill make your gear another crucial component of its progression systems, with each character equipping a headgear piece, two different weapons, an armour piece, and either a trinket or an amulet. Unlike other progression elements, gear which will come in one of five tiers ranging from Common to Legendary obviously wont be shared across both characters. The game will also allow players to save different loadouts so you can easily swap between your personal favourite sets rather than having to manually change things out each time. Also, yes, equipment will also be upgradable at the forge in the Hideout, your central hub.PERKSIf youre looking to build further on your characters progression and customization on top of skills and equipment, perks will be your next main area of focus. Found on dead enemies (specifically, on capital T Targets), in chests, at merchants, by completing specific in-game challenges, or by crafting your own at the Hideout, Perks will allow you to modify and enhance your equipment and continue to tailor your play style. From basic stat improvements to applying afflictions on enemies to special passive buffs and more, Perks will come in several different shapes and sizes.ENDGAME PROGRESSIONIf theres one thing theAssassins CreedRPGs pride themselves on, its having plenty of content to keep players busy for hours upon hours even after rolling credits. Unsurprisingly, then,Shadowswill also have systems in place specifically for endgame progression. After hitting Knowledge Rank 6, players will unlock a completely new Knowledge tree with a fresh set of passive boosts to make their way through and unlock. As Ubisoft puts it, this new tree will allow players to maximize specific stats to fully embrace your ideal playstyle.TRANSMOGFor those more concerned with the visual and cosmetic aspects of character customization, fret now-Assassins Creed Shadowsis offering plenty of flexibility on that front as well. As soon as players have unlocked the aforementioned Forge (which is clearly going to be pivotal to progression as a whole), youll be able to apply transmog, which means keeping your gears stats but making it look like other equipment that you own. InShadows, transmog will extend to weapons and even different weapon parts as well, courtesy of which players will be able to customize the visual style of, say, a katanas blade, handle, and guard without affecting its stats or attributes.ASSASSINATIONSAssassinations will obviously be an important part ofShadowsgameplay loop its calledAssassins Creed, after all but how exactly will it work? Well, as the game starts off, your Hidden Blade will be able to deal two chunks of health bars worth of damage, which means enemies that have more health will be able to survive assassination attempts, while those that dont will perish instantly. Using the Observe mechanic, players will be able to learn whether an enemy can be instantly assassinated. Perks, special equipment, Mastery skills, and more will let you upgrade your Hidden Blade damage. If, however, all you want is one-hit-kill assassinations with no caveats like in olderAssassins Creedtitles,Shadowswill let you simply toggle that on by heading into its accessibility settings.HIDEOUTPlayers will be returning time and again to the Hideout throughoutAssassins Creed Shadowsruntime, and apparently, theres going to be a lot to see and dive into. Nestled in the Izumi Settsu province, the Hideout will be unlocked early on in the games story- specifically, not long after youre done with the prologue. Expansions and customizations, meanwhile, will require three different resources crops, minerals, and wood that players will find throughout the open world. That, of course, will be in addition to mons, the currency that youll be using throughout your time in feudal Japan. Customization elements, meanwhile, will be unlocked in a variety of ways, including unique side activities found in the world, completing quests or contracts, or purchasing them at vendors and shops.HIDEOUT CUSTOMIZATIONThe Hideout will afford players a great degree of freedom when it comes to customization, based on everything that Ubisoft has said about how things will work. Central among customization options will be different rooms and building types- the ever-so-important Forge to assist with your gear and progression, a study with which to expand your network of scouts, a Kakurega to allow you to unlock safehouses across the map, a dojo where you can enhance Naoe and Yasukes skills, a stable where youll be able to smuggle resources, and more. Players will also be able to join rooms and buildings together, place a variety of interior decoration elements, and more. On top of that, exterior elements such as paths, light sources, fences, and more will also be available.HIDEOUT DENIZENSAs the Hideout grows and expands, it will, as you might imagine, also grow increasingly populous. Many of its denizens will be animals, added to your hub in several ways. Petting different species of cats and dogs around Japan will bring those furry buddies to your abode, as will engaging in a specific side activity that tasks players with sketching animals in the wild. The latter will allow you to bring foxes, tanuki, and deer to your Hideout. Beyond that, you can, of course, expect new vendors, scouts, blacksmiths, and of course, special allies to populate the Hideout as it expands throughout the games runtime.
