JustEat now lets you order from CEXStart menu.Image credit: CEX News by Tom Phillips Editor-in-Chief Published on March 14, 2025 Second-hand gaming specialist CEX now lets you order items on JustEat.The UK high street chain is the latest non-edible option on JustEat's ubiquitous delivery app, and now offers games, consoles, cables and controllers to buy and have turn up at your door. The idea here is that we're all getting impatient for games - or replacement items if something breaks, or we don't have the right cable. To cater to this, CEX says it is able to deliver via JustEat in "around 30 minutes"."We're delighted to expand the reach of CEX to millions of Just Eat customers, making it even faster for them to get the tech treats on demand," CEX boss David Butler said. A list of best-selling items from CEX sold via JustEat includes lightning and HDMI cables, PS5 controllers, and copies of Grand Theft Auto 5. You could also download games digitally, of course - but second-hand copies are typically much cheaper. It goes without saying that you'll need a CEX near you for this to work, but the chain is now pretty common across the UK. JustEat, meanwhile, says it now covers 97 percent of the country, with around 18 million UK customers. And then there's the elephant in the room - that CEX stock is second-hand, so you may have questions about whether this stuff is clean enough to eat your dinner off. If you're not happy with your JustEat item, CEX says, its five-year warranty applies. So, what will you be sampling?

Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games hereIts all kicking off in Helldivers 2 now! While the next Warbond should be close, right now there has been a major update to Moradesh in that its gone. Before its end, Arrowhead warned HD2 players with a scary evacuation video. Within this blaringly loud video, Helldivers 2 players have possibly discovered unnerving hidden messages that are just waiting to be fully deciphered.Helldivers 2 hidden messages discoveredAs part of the Helldivers 2 Moradesh evacuation video shared on X, players have noticed possible hidden messages. Unfortunately, its not clear exactly what the hidden message is, but the community is doing their best to decipher. The belief is that the specotgram is morse code, and this has resulted in the community believing -. . ..-. - -.-. means 06EFBC. Upon this, the community is under the impression that this is the hex code color Last Straw, which is a shade of teal, which could mean Either High Command is telling us to stop messing around and take this threat seriously, or The Illuminate are no longer f****** around.Theres also another post where the belief is that the spectrogram looks kind of like the surface of a planet, leading to the theory that it could be the Illuminates home world.Unfortunately, as of writing, the community hasnt been able to decipher the possible message within the video. However, the common assumption is that its another warning from the looming threat of the Illuminate fully invading. There is also the high possibility the community is reading too much into it and theres no hidden messages to decipher at all. It all remains to be seen, but, for now, players have a ball of yarn to try to unravel. For more Helldivers 2, check out our guide to thebest warbonds ranked, along with thebest stratagemsandbest throwables. • The 10 Best Places to See the Northern Lights
    www.architecturaldigest.com
Given that about 75% of Canadians live within 100 miles of the US border, its fairly easy to get away from light pollution the farther north you go. Fly into Whitehorse in the Yukon, Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories, or Iqaluit in Nunavut for a truly remote Northern Lights getaway.Where to see the northern lights in CanadaFor a full-blown aurora-themed vacation, consider booking a multinight tour to Churchill, Manitoba. While you can see the aurora here from late August through late Aprilthats when the sky gets dark enoughthe best time to see the northern lights in Churchill is February and March. Thats because the extreme cold discourages cloud formation, leading to clear skies. (With windchill, you can expect nighttime temperatures to plummet to -40 degrees Fahrenheit.) Several tour operators run aurora-viewing trips during these months; Natural Habitat Adventures even runs women-only trips.NorwayPhoto: Getty Images/iStockphotoAs in Sweden, youll want to head north in Norway between September and March for the best chance to see the northern lights. Fun fact: The worlds first northern lights observatory was built on a mountaintop near Alta, Norway, and you can still visit it today.Where to see the northern lights in NorwayThe city of Troms draws in thousands of northern lightschasing visitors each winter, while even more intrepid travelers head farther north to Kirkenes. There, you can stay at Snowhotel Kirkenes to experience a true winter wonderland, complete with dog-sledding excursions, a king crab restaurant, and yes, a hotel made out of snow.Norway also presents an excellent opportunity to view the northern lights by sea, thanks to the iconic Hurtigruten ferry line, which has been traveling the Norwegian coast since 1893. While the ships act as a genuine ferry service for locals, visitors are also welcome to come along for the ride. There are even astronomy-themed voyages that include special northern lights programming, from lectures by scientists like Hurtigrutens lead aurora chaser Tom Kerss to a visit to the Science Centre of Northern Norway and the Northern Light planetarium in Troms. Hurtigruten even provides a Northern Lights Promise for certain voyages that give travelers a free cruise if the aurora doesnt make an appearance.SvalbardPhoto: Ingeborg Klarenberg/Getty Images

  • Inside a 950-Square-Foot NYC Bachelor Pad That Writes Its Own Rules
    www.architecturaldigest.com
Ive always been very enchanted by spaces that come about naturally, says Noah Ruttenberg. These spaces include fashion designer Emily Bodes vintage-strewn atelier, where the 28-year-old interned after college, and the studio of his grandmother, the artist Janet Ruttenberg. She will use a napkin as a curtain. She will take a magic marker to a carpet. She will put a gorgeous painting in an unused bathtub, he says. Something she taught me is that the unfinished can be finished. These influences informed Ruttenbergs first major interiors project, a 950-square-foot Upper East Side one-bedroom he completed for a 30-something industrialist. He works in manufacturing; literally nuts and bolts, says Ruttenberg. What started as an austere space became an equilibrium of soft tones and strong pieces; scalloped edges and whimsical accents met with harder lines. Soft industry, if you will.Graduating from Brown in 2019, Ruttenberg worked the front desk at San Vicente Bungalows in LA before returning to his native New York. He nurtured both his interests in art and design, working under the artist Mark Hundley, and the designers Christine and John Gachot, and then attending Paris College of Art while he and Alec Smythe set up a gallery called Mariposa. Returning Stateside in July 2024, he started NJCR Studio, working on a modern Korea-town loft, a textile designers home (Its this eclectic space that incorporates her own textiles, antique textiles, wallpapers from all around the world, he says), and this Upper East Side apartment. We were lucky with the apartment. It was beautiful already, Ruttenberg says, careful to credit Rexrode Chirigos Architects, who had designed the space before the client purchased it. We could have just put a chair in the middle of the room and called it a day. The bones of the apartment were beautiful and formal; the client just wanted a more casual environment.New Yorkbased interior designer Noah Ruttenberg leans against a door frame in the apartments ample living room, imbued with steel and soft surfaces. (Art: Paul Kneale, Cultural Slum Lords)The challenge for Ruttenberg was to inject warmth and humanity to the rooms, without losing its masculine core, or interfering with its classic shape, parquet floors, or moldings. A midcentury black leather sofa by Design Research Inc. acted as an anchor item in the living room. To this scene he added a cotton ruggently scalloped in a green pastelas a base layer, and then a fabric club chair on a polished steel and brass swivel, a rolling vanity chair in lucite, and a Brick Screen by Eileen Gray. The entryway and the kitchen are both a sumptuous bluish green that has warmth, but it also has this kind of coolness, the designer says. The breakfast nook is deliberately cozy, cast in natural light. In the living rooms northeast corner sits its low-key star: a daybed, custom-designed by Ruttenberg and upholstered by Red Threads, which also serves as a trunk. I wanted the client to read or work [somewhere] that wasnt his bed, that he could recline on. A second use of it was just storage, he says. Its this amazing corner that sits looking out onto three different windows, and it seemed like it needed a custom piece to fit perfectly in that space and to fulfill a variety of uses. That it is steps from the dining table is very intentional. I wanted a piece that would allow someone to still engage with those who are sitting around the table, but also to digest, he says. The space is punctuated by many of Ruttenbergs custom pieces. Abutting the sofa is a console table that he had designed at Master Kitchen, a kitchen supply company in the Lower East Side. The guy took out a napkin and a pen, and we started designing this console table that I had in the back of my head for a while, he says. Two weeks later, it was delivered at my doorstep. The client is a music enthusiast, so while the audio systems live inside the console, their wires invisibly extend to a record player on top. Nearby, a repurposed deep fryer holds his records: Roxy Musics Flesh and Blood, Townes Van Zandts self-titled album, and Talking Heads Speaking in Tongues. Visually, these notes bounce back to the console, to the chrome swivel, and then are enveloped in a comely, cushioned daybed, another NJCR piece. And then there are the accents: sculptures of the clients dogs head, and rear, make drawer pulls for the banquette; antique lugnuts form bookends; a cocktail table, which Ruttenberg constructed himself from piping, gamely bisects the sofa with its built-in backgammon board. The pull and pull of the hard and soft, fun and fabricated, the textured taffy-ness, continues with the dining table, a pedestal table in reflective glass, edged by a custom banquette, its cushion in a subtly striped blue fabric, and Vico Magistretti Carimate Chairs, their natural wicker and wood balancing out the sheen.Looking to make the Upper East Side home more approachable, while emphasizing the clients connection to his work in manufacturing, designer Noah Ruttenberg struck a balance between custom, new, and antique furniture. This included a custom console he built in collaboration with Master Kitchen, where he also located a deep fryer, converted into a holder for the clients records. The living space is softened by a handmade cotton scalloped rug by Mohini Creations atop the original parquet floors, while its dining area exerts a similar material tension with the 1980s midcentury-modern black glass pedestal table, surrounded by the gentle woods and wicker of the Vico Magistretti Carimate chairs from Modernab Gallery. Both the clients and Ruttenbergs personal connections make their way throughout the space. Those dining room chairs? They were originally designed for a golf course clubhouse in Italy (the client is an avid golfer). A fireplace, black-framed mirror, and industrial bench frame the bed, which in the long tradition of New York bachelor apartments, cannot help but eat up much of the room. But the curtain, crafted from Anne Drape fabric and designed by Ruttenbergs friend Ana Kras, hangs from the ceiling, not from the window, like a piece of paper. Its this romantic moment in the apartment, especially considering all the black and white that we use throughout, he says. The result is both a living space that feels personal and designed, while complementing what was there before. Importantly, its not just a balance, but a pastiche. Whats actually beautiful about the space is the space itself, Ruttenberg says. In this consideration, his pride in the old parquet, his salute to the dignified moldings, we see not only the molding of a smart young designer, but the wisdom of what could be. What I added are just vehicles to actually appreciate the heavy work, the big work. And I was very proud of that.A compact, considered entryway is kept minimal with an industrial Knock Down Gowning Bench from Blickman. Its a bench that people use to put on and take off hazmat suits when entering toxic areas, says Ruttenberg. I was incorporating as many industrial materials as possible. Its a style I love, and a style the client loves, and he works in industry. (Art: Peter Schlesinger, Andy Warhol and Rex Reed in a Taxi, Monaco, from Mariposa Gallery)Polished steel-and-chrome accents extend through the home: from an industrial Knock Down Gowning Bench from Blickmana seating system commonly used for donning and removing protective equipmentto the coffee table, which combines a chrome base with a green marble surface. The client immediately approved [these pieces] because they just agreed with him, says Ruttenberg. Between them sits a midcentury swivel club chair on polished steel and brass base, which Ruttenberg won at auction and had reupholstered. I thought it was kind of cool to have these reflective metals lower to the ground, because it reflects the carpet in this really interesting way, he says. The classically molded ceiling is reelected in the surface of the 1980s midcentury-modern black glass pedestal table, with banquette seating of Ruttenbergs own design. Contrasting, striped pillows from Studio Sofield add comfort and play and are echoed on the nearby daybed, another custom NJCR design with upholstery from Red Threads.Industrial items like a custom built console table from Master Kitchena kitchen supply shop in New Yorks Lower East Sidesupports others, like antique lugnut bookends, a nod to the clients work in manufacturing. With the apartment situated on a low floor with northern exposure, natural light was a factor. Its atmospheric sunlight, so that was really a consideration when we were picking the color of the kitchen. We wanted it to be this warm and cozy space, says Ruttenberg. He left the rich wood cabinetry as it was, and focused instead on adding a handsome, enlivening green tone by way of Benjamin Moore Hunter Green paint. It created this glow, especially with this dark greenish blue that we selected, he adds.Creating a breakfast nook, Ruttenberg worked with Red Threads to expand the window box and create a two-sided banquette, with cushions upholstered in antique fabric in green plaid to contrast the walls. Another Vico Magistretti Carimate chair places into view Peter Schlesingers Ossie Clark and an angry waiter in Paris from Ruttenbergs own gallery, Mariposaa wink and a nod from the Swinging 60s to go with the morning eggs and coffee. The first item Ruttenberg installed was a 1962 sofa from Design Research Inc. Here is this big, gorgeous leather sofa in the middle of this almost Parisian apartment, says Ruttenberg. He removed some of its severity with large items, like the scalloped, trimmed rug, as well as jaunty accents, like this cocktail table, inlaid with a backgammon board, which Ruttenberg constructed himself with piping from Home Depot. The king-size bed with Yves Delorme bedding is quintessentially inviting. For the curtain on the wall, crafted with material from AndDrape, Ruttenberg consulted his friend, artist, photographer, and designer Ana Kra, who hung it from the ceiling. Ruttenberg loved the papery effect of the curtain, and its creation of a romantic moment as it filters light through the room. The bathroom has a sleek marble-clad design that echoes the hard and soft lines throughout the apartment.

  • We Are Witnessing a New Brain Drain as Scientists Flee America for France. | A French university says it's providing safe harbor to American scientists from Yale, Stanford, NASA, and the NIH.
    gizmodo.com
By Matthew Gault Published March 13, 2025 | Comments (86) | The Htel Maynier dOppde, a Monument historique designed by architect Georges Vallon in 1757, now home to Sciences Po Aix's main campus. JM Campaner via Wikimedia Commons. Aix Marseille University in France has said that 40 U.S. scientists have answered the call it put out earlier this month offering safe harbor to fleeing Americans. Scientists in the U.S. under the Trump regime are facing a sudden loss of funding and stricter regulations on speech and areas of research. According to Aix Marseille University President Eric Berton, some of them will find a home in France. In a press release about its Safe Space for Science initiative, the University announced that the 40 U.S. scientists included people from Stanford, Yale, NASA, the National Institute for Health, and George Washington University. It said that most of their research topics were related to health (LGBT+ medicine, epidemiology, infectious diseases, inequalities, immunology, etc.), the environment and climate changeas well as the humanities and social sciencesand astrophysics. Aix Marseille University put out the call to American scientists on March 7 as news continued that the Trump administration was pulling funding from many universities and putting heavy restrictions on research topics. We are witnessing a new brain drain, Benton said on March 12. We will do everything possible to help as many scientists as possible continue their research. But we cannot meet all the requests alone. He then called on the French and European governments for help. The Trump administration has been destructive to science and research in America in ways it will take generations to understand. Many colleges and research institutes rely on federal funding to make breakthroughs, and federal funding has vanished. Last night, UMass Chana public medical school in Massachusettsannounced a hiring freeze and sent out an email to previously accepted students telling them they had rescinded their admission. Due to ongoing uncertainties related to federal funding of biomedical research, UMass Chan, along with many of our peer universities, is facing significant challenges in ensuring stable dissertation research opportunities for incoming students, the email said. Unfortunately, as a result, we must rescind all offers of admission for the Fall 2025 term. This is not a decision that we made lightly, and we understand how disappointing this news may be. Based upon your strong academic qualification and potential, we sincerely regret that circumstances beyond our control have led to this outcome. UMass Chan Medical School is a major researcher into the treatment of ALS, also known as Lou Gehrigs disease. The single biggest funder of research into the disease was federal NIH grants, which gave the school around $50 million every year. That moneys gone because the Trump administration has ended hundreds of active NIH research grants. The University of Pennsylvania has also told students it can no longer take them. A professor at the University told The Daily Pennsylvanian that the loss of funding was sudden and came after many people had already been selected for graduate programs. We go through hundreds of applications, we interviewed dozens of finalists, and basically all that work was just for naught. We just wasted half of those peoples time because our list just got cut by more than half, they said. Aix Marseille University said it had already put aside $16 million to host three U.S. scientists for three years. In its press release, it said its working with the local French government to facilitate the arrival of scientists and their families in Marseille and the region and that this will include employment, housing, access to schoolstransportation, [and] visas.Daily NewsletterYou May Also Like By Lucas Ropek Published March 13, 2025 By Ed Cara Published March 13, 2025 By Matt Novak Published March 13, 2025 By AJ Dellinger Published March 12, 2025 Eli Hager, ProPublica Published March 12, 2025 By Matt Novak Published March 12, 2025

  • A Nintendo Switch 2 may set you back $400 or more, boffins predict, but Ninty "will sell boatloads" anyway
    www.vg247.com
Hi. It's that time again - Nintendo Switch 2 in the headline, and some analysts have said a thing. You'll want to listen too, because it's an estimate of the price you could be paying for the console, not that these experts seem to reckon how much it costs will have much effect on Nintendo's ability to shift "boatloads" of units early on.This news comes as we're inching towards that special Switch Direct that's coming up in less than a month, so we're nearly into peak release hype - though we still don't know exactly when that'll be.To see this content please enable targeting cookies. For now, Bloomberg has chatted to some analysts to get their view on how the Switch 2's launch might go. In one word? Well. In two words? Very well. How much will it cost, though? $400 or more - that's about 307 or more - looks to be the consensus from the group of analysts chatted to, but there's a bit of variation in their responses. Toyo Securities analyst Hideki Yasuda said he "wouldnt be surprised if Nintendo goes ahead with $499" due to chip prices, while his fellow boffins are less sure it'll be that high, but all anticipate an increase of $100 or more over the original Switchs price point - $299. To see this content please enable targeting cookies. Will that price increase affect how well the launch goes in terms of those oh so important numbers and lines on financial graphs? These analysts don't seem to think so, with Robin Zhu of Sanford C. Bernstein expecting the Switch 2 to come out in June, with 6 million to 8 million units on offer from day one, which could equate to "the biggest console launch ever" if early sales go as planned."They will sell boatloads of Switch 2 in the first months in particular, almost regardless of the price, Japanese consulting firm Kantan Games' CEO Dr Serkan Toto put it, adding: "We can expect a great software lineup in year one, from new Mario Kart and 3D Mario after eight years to Pokmon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4. There will also be third-party support from day one, most probably including blockbusters like Call of Duty."He's also added in a tweet that he reckons the Tears of the Kingdom pricing trend of $70 will continue, at least when it comes to "Nintendo's own games and major 3rd-party games".Nice. Get the armada ready Nintendo, and try to avoid running into any bloodthirsty Italian plumber-loving pirates on the high seas. Will you be happy to pay a price like those outlined above for the Switch 2? Has your plan to pay via millions of eShop gold points recently gone up in flames? Let us know below!
