Death Stranding 2 – before anyone says anything the decade ends in 2029, not 2030 (Sony Interactive Entertainment) Arguably the most anticipated game from Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima is still at least five years away, despite being announced a year ago. As well Death Stranding 2: On The Beach next month, Hideo Kojima’s studio Kojima Productions is working on two more projects. One of these is an Xbox published game called OD, a collaboration between Kojima and Get Out director Jordan Peele which stars Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schafer, and Udo Kier. The horror project was officially revealed in 2023, but nothing has been shown since. The other is Physint, a Metal Gear spiritual sequel which was announced in January last year. Unlike OD, no footage has ever been shown of the game, and there’s a very good reason for that – it’s still many years away. Speaking in an interview with French magazine Le Film Français (via VGC), Kojima was asked about the upcoming film adaptation of Death Stranding from A24, and whether he’d like to direct a film himself. ‘Oh, yes!’ Kojima replied. ‘I received many offers after leaving Konami.’ However, don’t expect a Kojima film anytime soon, as the developer wants to finish Death Stranding 2 and Physint before he even considers switching mediums. ‘Besides Death Stranding 2, there is Physint in development,’ Kojima said. ‘That will take me another five or six years. Maybe after that, I could finally decide to tackle a film. I grew up with cinema. Directing would be a kind of homage to it. Besides, I’m getting older, and I would prefer to do it while still young.’ While it’s unclear why Kojima didn’t mention OD, it’s possible he’s been told by Sony not to talk about the project while promoting Death Stranding 2, as it’s published by Xbox – although it’s unknown if it’s a console exclusive or not. More Trending Considering OD was announced before Physint, it’s safe to assume the former will be the next game from Kojima Productions, which implies Physint hasn’t made it past pre-production yet. While Kojima’s love for movies is clear in his games, an interview last week suggested he had been advised to stick to video games, by film director friends Guillermo del Toro and Nicolas Winding Refn. In that same interview, Kojima explained how he has a USB stick filled with game ideas, so his studio could have a secure future after he dies. He’s currently 61 and so could be 66 or older before Physint is ever released. Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is set to launch on PlayStation 5 on June 26, 2025. Kojima's next game, Death Stranding 2, is on the cusp of release, but Physint is already in development alongside Xbox horror game OD. He even wants to create a film as well, but these game projects are a priority first. "Besides Death Stranding 2, there's Physint in development," Kojima told French magazine Le Film Français (via ResetEra). "It'll take me another five or six years. Kojima is now 61 years of age, meaning Physint won't be released until he's into his late 60s and, at this rate, a film won't be likely until he's in his 70s. And with a few years to go until Physint, does that mean it could release on Sony's next console? Back in 2022, a confidential document suggested the company wouldn't expect a PlayStation 6 until at least 2027. Of course, that may have changed to even later now. Kojima first announced Physint in 2024, describing it as "the third, new original IP since the establishment of Kojima Productions" and a "completely new 'Action Espionage' for the next-generation". Death Stranding 2 certainly has more than a shade of Metal Gear to it, both in its expanded combat options and its story themes. At a recent preview for Death Stranding 2, Kojima mentioned the desire from fans for a new Metal Gear game inspired Physint. "Of course, I have lots of new ideas that I want to create," he said. "But when I became sick during the pandemic, I realised that a lot of people wanted me to make something like Metal Gear. That's when I had the idea for a new espionage game. I reflected, and thought the idea was good. I took it to Sony and they were incredibly supportive. We explored many options, and we agreed on doing Physint." Still, he told Edge Magazine he's not "interested in appealing to the mass market", after test reviews for Death Stranding 2 came out positively. "Sony is pleased, of course, but I do wish it was a bit more controversial," said Kojima. "Blockbuster films need an 80 percent approval rating - I don't want to make games like that. I'm not interested in appealing to the mass market, or selling millions of copies. That's not what I'm aiming for."

News Syberia Remastered Announced, Launches in Q4 2025 The remaster of Benoît Sokal's classic point-and-click adventure features redesigned characters, revamped puzzles, and more. Developed by Studio Virtuallyz and Microids Studio Paris, Syberia Remastered is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC in Q4 2025. Check out the first screenshots below. Created by Benoît Sokal, Syberia released in May 2002 and received critical praise. It stars Kate Walker, who teams with Oscar, an automaton, on a point-and-click adventure to discover the titular island. The remaster modernizes the visuals with fully redesigned characters and rebuilt environments. The puzzles have also been revamped to offer “a smoother and more intuitive experience.” Other notable changes include an updated UI and improved controls and navigation. Of course, Microids says that the game’s “contemplative and narrative soul” remains untouched. If you’re a die-hard fan of Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima, you might still be able to enjoy ideas from the acclaimed game developer for decades to come. Kojima, now 60, built up his reputation by writing, directing, and producing seminal titles like the stealth shooter Metal Gear series, as well as more recent AAA titles like 2019’s Death Stranding. Kojima told the game magazine Edge earlier this week that he gave his personal assistant “a USB stick with all my ideas on it,” calling it "kind of like a will." He added, "Perhaps they could continue to make things after I’m gone at Kojima Productions," so the company doesn't simply "manage our existing IP" after his death.The game industry elder statesman is still coming up with left-field ideas to this day. In a Japanese radio interview last week (translated by IGN), Kojima floated the idea of a new video game where the player character "forgets" his skills and abilities if the real-life player steps away from his controller for too long.Recommended by Our EditorsKojima tells Edge that he's thinking more about mortality and his legacy after contracting a serious illness during the pandemic, and having to undergo eye surgery. "Wait, how many years do I have left to make a game or a film?" he asked. The official Twitter account has confirmed that the title didn’t meet expectations and will be delisted from the Google Play and Apple App Stores. Its social features will also be retired, but those who install it before May 19th can still play with servers remaining online. Even cross-progression remains available. Unfortunately, there won’t be any new seasons or updates to the gameplay. Call of Duty Points and Black Cell also won’t be available to purchase. If you have any left, they’re still redeemable in the in-game store. Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile’s woes began almost immediately after launch, as it reportedly earned $1.4 million in its first four days. Call of Duty Mobile earned $4.2 million in the same period when it launched in 2019, translating to a 67 percent drop for the new title.
