The Andromeda Insights Galaxy Gaming PC Offers An RX 9070 XT & Ryzen 7 9800X3D For $2,099.99 On AmazonOmar Sohail Apr 3, 2025 at 06:35am EDTThe price of AMDs Ryzen 7 9800X3D has stabilized a few months after it launched, and it will not be difficult for you to get a hold of a unit for $479.99 on Amazon. Unfortunately, the Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics card is another story, but that is the case with every new release of GPUs, as these are never available at their MSRP. Even if you search the online retailer at this time, the most affordable variant you can get at this time is the XFX Mercury AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT, which is available for $959.99, and that too, if you become a Prime member. If you do not want to jump around these incessant loopholes, the best way to overcome these problems is to purchase a gaming PC. Now, a couple of years ago, we would have been strongly against this suggestion, as it would have been far more affordable to build this machine with parts that were purchased separately, but we are living in different times where GPUs will almost always be sold at outrageous prices. Fortunately, the Andromeda Insights Galaxy gaming PC does not have to give you those headaches because at $2,099.99 on Amazon, it is not a cheap purchase, but it does not go insanely overboard either. For this price, you not only get a combination of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D but you can also drive the Radeon RX 9070 XT daily, which sports a whopping 16GB of GDDR6 VRAM. Complementing the rest of the specifications are 32GB of DDR5 RAM operating at 6,000MHz, a 2TB PCIe NVMe Gen 4 SSD, a B650 motherboard that supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and an 850W power supply. The operating system is Windows 11 Home, and for after-sales support, Andromeda Insights states that buyers will receive a lifetime labor warranty and a lifetime service warranty. However, it is important that you read the finer details.Do keep in mind that computer hardware is not quite as affordable as it was a few years ago, so you need to have realistic expectations of your budget if you want to immerse yourself in fluid, high-resolution gaming sessions. A budget of $2,099.99 is not something that the everyday consumer can entertain, but it still provides some middle ground considering the other options you have at this time.Get the Andromeda Insights Galaxy gaming PC from Amazon- $2,099.99Get the Ryzen 7 9800X3D from Amazon- $479.99Explore AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT GPU options hereSee what else Amazon has discounted todayDeal of the DaySubscribe to get an everyday digest of the latest technology news in your inboxFollow us onTopicsSectionsCompanySome posts on wccftech.com may contain affiliate links. • Nintendo Switch 2 Will Be a Smash Hit, Says Analyst; High Retail Prices Are Meant to Drive Digital Sales
    wccftech.com
It's time for the first analyst reactions to the Nintendo Switch 2 announcements, starting with the higher-than-expected pricing for both the console itself and its games. According to MIDiA Research's Rhys Elliott, whom we often interviewed exclusively on Wccftech, the console is poised to become a smash hit even at the $450 price. The Nintendo Switch 2 is slightly more expensive than many of us analysts thought, but $450 is still within the $400-500 price range I expected. While I still reckon $400 is the sweet spot, and we'll see a cheaper SKU eventually, $450 is still affordable and in line with other consoles and the Steam Deck.Unlike other manufacturers, Nintendo relies almost solely on its console and console software business, so loss-leading pricing simply wasnt in the cards. At $450, the Switch 2 is still cheap enough for mass-market adoption, and given the stacked and diverse software lineup, I believe it will sell well among core gamers, casuals, families, and more.Perhaps an even tougher pill to swallow for consumers is the increase in Nintendo Switch 2 game prices, chiefly Mario Kart World, which will cost $80 (90 in Europe) if you buy a physical copy. According to Elliott, the rationale is mainly to drive users to purchase digital instead, since Nintendo's split is currently around fifty-fifty (whereas the other consoles made by Microsoft and Sony already skew much more toward digital sales). While the orange mans tariffs and Nintendo wanting to increase ARPPU factor into the reasoning behind Nintendo charging $80 for Mario Kart World, I think theres more at play. Nintendo also wants to nudge consumers to buy games digitally. The lower prices for digital games versus boxed (true for Donkey Kong and Mario Kart) point to this. Another factor is last weeks announcement of the Digital Game Card, which lets players lend games to their Switch Online Family Plan members.A little bit of context here: PlayStation and Xbox have already pushed their platforms to become digital-first, driven by strategies like multi-game subscriptions, digital-only consoles, free-to-plays rise, and platform holders pushing consumers to digital versions via perks (like extra cosmetics and the ability to pre-load a game so its instantly ready to play at launch). So PlayStation and especially Xbox are very digital-first. But Nintendo is different, more 50-50. For consumers, a unique value proposition of physical games is the preowned and rental markets. But Nintendos reliance on physical impacts its bottom line, hence the nudging. Nintendo does not gain revenues from physical renting and resales. After all, a copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe could be sold on the reseller market 100 times or rented 100 times, but Nintendo would only capture revenues from that first sale. A digital-only market means more revenue and price control for Nintendo. Long story short, Nintendos use of framing (sticker shock for physical) is actually pushing people to digital, which benefits Nintendo. Are you planning to pre-order a Nintendo Switch 2 when pre-orders open on April 9? Vote in the poll below and let us know your take on the reveal in the comments section. Are you going to buy the Nintendo Switch 2?Deal of the Day

  • All the new video games launching in 2025
    www.polygon.com
After a brutal year for the video game industry, 2025 is looking brighter and much busier if only because Rockstar Games plans to release Grand Theft Auto 6 in 2025, and Nintendo promises to deliver the Switch 2 and a bunch of new games to launch with it.Those arent the only highly anticipated sequels coming in 2025. Video game fans can also expect Ghost of Yotei, Elden Ring Nightreign, Death Stranding 2, Doom: The Dark Ages, Borderlands 4, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Monster Hunter Wilds, Pokmon Legends: Z-A, and Slay the Spire 2. Beyond sequels, there are some other big bets on the calendar for 2025, like Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, Judas, Riots fighting game 2XKO, and South of Midnight. Suffice it to say, its currently looking like a big year for new video game releases.Game release dates are always in flux, though, so Polygons guide to the new video games coming in 2025 will be • Shenmue is the most influential game of all time, according to new poll
    www.polygon.com
A public poll to determine the most influential video game of all time, held by the U.K. screen arts academy BAFTA, has returned an extremely surprising (if not totally unworthy) result: Shenmue, Yu Suzukis wildly ambitious 1999 Sega Dreamcast game about one young mans search for justice (and capsule toys).Shenmue beat more routinely canonized classics like Doom, Super Mario Bros., Half-Life, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time to claim the title. Those four games made up the rest of the top five. Minecraft came in sixth place, Tetris in 11th, Final Fantasy 7 in 17th, and Grand Theft Auto 3 placed a lowly 19th.Theres evidence that BAFTAs poll was subject to some brigading among passionate game fans; Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, a (by all accounts very good) role-playing game that has barely been out for two months, came in 7th place, just ahead of Super Mario 64. Still, theres no disputing the worthiness of most of the games in BAFTAs top 21, even if the order is a little idiosyncratic.Shenmue was a passion project for the Sega producer Suzuki, the creator of Out Run and Virtua Fighter. The most expensive game ever made at the time, its a boldly realistic take on the humdrum daily life of Ryo Hazuki, a teenage martial artist out to avenge his fathers murder in the 1980s. It features incredibly detailed environments, a day-and-night system, NPCs who obey their own schedules, dozens of minigames and quite a lot of just waiting around.Shenmue was certainly ahead of its time, although its debatable how influential it has been on other games certainly in comparison to something like GTA 3. Conceived as a multi-part epic, it was a commercial failure, and though Shenmue 2 came out in 2001, it would be 18 years before Suzuki got to continue his story in the crowd-funded Shenmue 3.Responding to the accolade in a statement, Suzuki said, I am deeply honoured and grateful that Shenmue has been selected as the Most Influential Video Game of All Time. At its inception, we set out to explore the question, How real can a game become?, aiming to portray a world and story unprecedented in scale and detail. This distinction serves as a powerful reminder that the challenge we embraced continues to resonate with and inspire so many people even today. It is truly the greatest of encouragement.Above all, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the fans around the world who have continued to love and support Shenmue. Your passion and encouragement have guided this journey every step of the way. And the story is not over yet, there is more to come! Thank you very much!BAFTAs poll was conducted as a prelude to the BAFTA Games Awards, which take place next week on April 8. In a similar poll last year, the public selected Tomb Raiders Lara Croft as the most iconic video games character of all time, ahead of Mario, Sonic, and Hitmans Agent 47.Heres the full ranking of the top 21 most influential video games of all time, according to BAFTAs poll:ShenmueDoom (1993)Super Mario Bros.Half-LifeThe Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of TimeMinecraftKingdom Come: Deliverance 2Super Mario 64Half-Life 2The SimsTetrisTomb RaiderPongMetal Gear SolidWorld of WarcraftBaldurs Gate 3Final Fantasy 7Dark SoulsGrand Theft Auto 3The Elder Scrolls 5: SkyrimGrand Theft AutoSee More:

  • Tony Blair Institute AI copyright report sparks backlash
    www.artificialintelligence-news.com
The Tony Blair Institute (TBI) has released a report calling for the UK to lead in navigating the complex intersection of arts and AI.According to the report, titled Rebooting Copyright: How the UK Can Be a Global Leader in the Arts and AI, the global race for cultural and technological leadership is still up for grabs, and the UK has a golden opportunity to take the lead. The report emphasises that countries that embrace change and harness the power of artificial intelligence in creative ways will set the technical, aesthetic, and regulatory standards for others to follow.Highlighting that we are in the midst of another revolution in media and communication, the report notes that AI is disrupting how textual, visual, and auditive content is created, distributed, and experienced, much like the printing press, gramophone, and camera did before it.AI will usher in a new era of interactive and bespoke works, as well as a counter-revolution that celebrates everything that AI can never be, the report states. However, far from signalling the end of human creativity, the TBI suggests AI will open up new ways of being original. The AI revolutions impact isnt limited to the creative industries; its being felt across all areas of society. Scientists are using AI to accelerate discoveries, healthcare providers are employing it to analyse X-ray images, and emergency services utilise it to locate houses damaged by earthquakes. The report stresses that these cross-industry advancements are just the beginning, with future AI systems set to become increasingly capable, fuelled by advancements in computing power, data, model architectures, and access to talent. The UK government has expressed its ambition to be a global leader in AI through its AI Opportunities Action Plan, announced by Prime Minister Keir Starmer on 13 January 2025. For its part, the TBI welcomes the UK governments ambition, stating that if properly designed and deployed, AI can make human lives healthier, safer, and more prosperous. However, the rapid spread of AI across sectors raises urgent policy questions, particularly concerning the data used for AI training. The application of UK copyright law to the training of AI models is currently contested, with the debate often framed as a zero-sum game between AI developers and rights holders. The TBI argues that this framing misrepresents the nature of the challenge and the opportunity before us.The report emphasises that bold policy solutions are needed to provide all parties with legal clarity and unlock investments that spur innovation, job creation, and economic growth.According to the TBI, AI presents opportunities for creatorsnoting its use in various fields from podcasts to filmmaking. The report draws parallels with past technological innovations such as the printing press and the internet which were initially met with resistance, but ultimately led to societal adaptation and human ingenuity prevailing. The TBI proposes that the solution lies not in clinging to outdated copyright laws but in allowing them to co-evolve with technological change to remain effective in the age of AI.The UK government has proposed a text and data mining exception with an opt-out option for rights holders. While the TBI views this as a good starting point for balancing stakeholder interests, it acknowledges the significant implementation and enforcement challenges that come with it, spanning legal, technical, and geopolitical dimensions. In the report, the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change assesses the merits of the UK governments proposal and outlines a holistic policy framework to make it work in practice. The report includes recommendations and examines novel forms of art that will emerge from AI. It also delves into the disagreement between rights holders and developers on copyright, the wider implications of copyright policy, and the serious hurdles the UKs text and data mining proposal faces.Furthermore, the Tony Blair Institute explores the challenges of governing an opt-out policy, implementation problems with opt-outs, making opt-outs useful and accessible, and tackling the diffusion problem. AI summaries and the problems they present regarding identity are also addressed, along with defensive tools as a partial solution and solving licensing problems. The report also seeks to clarify the standards on human creativity, address digital watermarking, and discuss the uncertainty around the impact of generative AI on the industry. It proposes establishing a Centre for AI and the Creative Industries and discusses the risk of judicial review, the benefits of a remuneration scheme, and the advantages of a targeted levy on ISPs to raise funding for the Centre. However, the report has faced strong criticism. Ed Newton-Rex, CEO of Fairly Trained, raised several concerns on Bluesky. These concerns include:The report repeats the misleading claim that existing UK copyright law is uncertain, which Newton-Rex asserts is not the case. The suggestion that an opt-out scheme would give rights holders more control over how their works are used is misleading. Newton-Rex argues that licensing is currently required by law, so moving to an opt-out system would actually decrease control, as some rights holders will inevitably miss the opt-out.The report likens machine learning (ML) training to human learning, a comparison that Newton-Rex finds shocking, given the vastly different scalability of the two.The reports claim that AI developers wont make long-term profits from training on peoples work is questioned, with Newton-Rex pointing to the significant funding raised by companies like OpenAI.Newton-Rex suggests the report uses strawman arguments, such as stating that generative AI may not replace all human paid activities.A key criticism is that the report omits data showing how generative AI replaces demand for human creative labour.Newton-Rex also criticises the reports proposed solutions, specifically the suggestion to set up an academic centre, which he notes no one has asked for.Furthermore, he highlights the proposal to tax every household in the UK to fund this academic centre, arguing that this would place the financial burden on consumers rather than the AI companies themselves, and the revenue wouldnt even go to creators.Adding to these criticisms, British novelist and author Jonathan Coe noted that the five co-authors of this report on copyright, AI, and the arts are all from the science and technology sectors. Not one artist or creator among them. While the report from Tony Blair Institute for Global Change supports the governments ambition to be an AI leader, it also raises critical policy questionsparticularly around copyright law and AI training data.(Photo by Jez Timms)See also: Amazon Nova Act: A step towards smarter, web-native AI agentsWant to learn more about AI and big data from industry leaders? • Ant Group uses domestic chips to train AI models and cut costs
    www.artificialintelligence-news.com
Ant Group is relying on Chinese-made semiconductors to train artificial intelligence models to reduce costs and lessen dependence on restricted US technology, according to people familiar with the matter. The Alibaba-owned company has used chips from domestic suppliers, including those tied to its parent, Alibaba, and Huawei Technologies to train large language models using the Mixture of Experts (MoE) method. The results were reportedly comparable to those produced with Nvidias H800 chips, sources claim. While Ant continues to use Nvidia chips for some of its AI development, one sources said the company is turning increasingly to alternatives from AMD and Chinese chip-makers for its latest models. The development signals Ants deeper involvement in the growing AI race between Chinese and US tech firms, particularly as companies look for cost-effective ways to train models. The experimentation with domestic hardware reflects a broader effort among Chinese firms to work around export restrictions that block access to high-end chips like Nvidias H800, which, although not the most advanced, is still one of the more powerful GPUs available to Chinese organisations.Ant has published a research paper describing its work, stating that its models, in some tests, performed better than those developed by Meta. Bloomberg News, which initially reported the matter, has not verified the companys results independently. If the models perform as claimed, Ants efforts may represent a step forward in Chinas attempt to lower the cost of running AI applications and reduce the reliance on foreign hardware.MoE models divide tasks into smaller data sets handled by separate components, and have gained attention among AI researchers and data scientists. The technique has been used by Google and the Hangzhou-based startup, DeepSeek. The MoE concept is similar to having a team of specialists, each handling part of a task to make the process of producing models more efficient. Ant has declined to comment on its work with respect to its hardware sources.Training MoE models depends on high-performance GPUs which can be too expensive for smaller companies to acquire or use. Ants research focused on reducing that cost barrier. The papers title is suffixed with a clear objective: Scaling Models without premium GPUs. [our quotation marks]The direction taken by Ant and the use of MoE to reduce training costs contrast with Nvidias approach. CEO Officer Jensen Huang has said that demand for computing power will continue to grow, even with the introduction of more efficient models like DeepSeeks R1. His view is that companies will seek more powerful chips to drive revenue growth, rather than aiming to cut costs with cheaper alternatives. Nvidias strategy remains focused on building GPUs with more cores, transistors, and memory.According to the Ant Group paper, training one trillion tokens the basic units of data AI models use to learn cost about 6.35 million yuan (roughly $880,000) using conventional high-performance hardware. The companys optimised training method reduced that cost to around 5.1 million yuan by using lower-specification chips.Ant said it plans to apply its models produced in this way Ling-Plus and Ling-Lite to industrial AI use cases like healthcare and finance. Earlier this year, the company acquired Haodf.com, a Chinese online medical platform, to further Ants ambition to deploy AI-based solutions in healthcare. It also operates other AI services, including a virtual assistant app called Zhixiaobao and a financial advisory platform known as Maxiaocai. If you find one point of attack to beat the worlds best kung fu master, you can still say you beat them, which is why real-world application is important, said Robin Yu, chief technology officer of Beijing-based AI firm, Shengshang Tech.Ant has made its models open source. Ling-Lite has 16.8 billion parameters settings that help determine how a model functions while Ling-Plus has 290 billion. For comparison, estimates suggest closed-source GPT-4.5 has around 1.8 trillion parameters, according to MIT Technology Review.Despite progress, Ants paper noted that training models remains challenging. Small adjustments to hardware or model structure during model training sometimes resulted in unstable performance, including spikes in error rates.(Photo by Unsplash)See also: DeepSeek V3-0324 tops non-reasoning AI models in open-source firstWant to learn more about AI and big data from industry leaders?
Para filsuf seni seperti Walter Benjamin dalam esainya The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction sudah lama mengingatkan bahwa seni yang direproduksi tanpa batas akan kehilangan aura-nya. Bagaimana menurutmu?

Anthropic introduced a new subscription tier dubbed Claude for Education on Wednesday. The artificial intelligence (AI) firm said that the plan will include a specialised version of its chatbot aimed at higher education institutions. With this tier, universities can also opt for full campus access that will let students, faculty, and administrative staff use the AI chatbot for their role-specific functions. Students will also get to use a special Learning Mode feature that, instead of providing answers directly, helps them work their way towards the solution.Claude for Education Tier Comes With New FeaturesIn a newsroom post, the San Francisco-based tech giant detailed its new tier. Unlike the company's consumer-focused plans, Claude for Education does not have a fixed subscription price. Just like its enterprise offering, educational institutions can reach out to Anthropic's Education team to get a quote based on the campus size and their needs. One of the main highlights of the subscription tier is a new Learning Mode feature. Accessible within Projects, the new mode is designed to help students develop a deeper understanding of topics and reasoning processes. When a student asks the chatbot an academic question, it takes a guiding role to help the student reach the solution on their own.The mode also focuses on the Socratic line of questioning to help users provide evidence to support their conclusion. Anthropic states that the Learning Mode will enable students to develop their core concepts and provide structured formats for research papers, study guides, and more.Anthropic says faculty can also use Claude to provide students with individualised feedback on essays, create visual assets for learning plans, and generate questions of varying difficulty levels. Similarly, it claims that administrative staff can use the AI chatbot to automate repetitive email responses to common inquiries, analyse enrollment trends, and make processes more efficient.Additionally, Anthropic has also partnered with Internet2, a non-profit organisation that provides secure and cloud solutions, and educational technology company Infrastructure, which has built the educational platform Canvas. The company is working to integrate its AI chatbot into the platform. The AI firm has already struck full campus access plans with Northeastern University, the London School of Economics and Political Science, and Champlain College. The Northestern University is also working with Anthropic to build best practices for AI integration in higher education, new AI-powered education tools, and frameworks for responsible AI adoption in educational settings. GTA 5 Will Return To XGP And Join PC Game Pass Later This MonthWe already knew that Rockstar isn't going to hype Grand Theft Auto 6, the most anticipated title of 2025 and possibly the entire decade, until its fall release draws quite close. However, some warm-up activities wouldn't hurt, and bringing the predecessor back on the shelf, a strategy that could rekindle interest and, therefore, enhance the already strong anticipation for the new game, seems to be the publisher's choice.A few hours ago, a Twitter user named Ben shared the news that GTA 5 will be available on PC Game Pass and Game Pass later this month, according to an email sent by the developer to the community pages.GTA 5 was available on XGP a few times before for a limited time, but it's the first time that it has joined the PC Game Pass. In a separate reply, Ben also confirmed that it'll also come to Xbox Cloud Gaming, which has never happened before. This confirms previous information from Tez2, a data miner who specializes in Rockstar titles. They mentioned last July that the company was preparing GTA 5 for the PC Game Pass. This follows the launch of Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced on Steam last month. It was released to the franchise's record-low rating on the platform, with only 54% of players enjoying it, which is slowly rising to 62% now. Though it features improvements like ray tracing and higher frame rates, offers additional content, and is free for GTA owners, some players are unable to migrate their accounts, and @RockstarGames's support has been criticized as "completely useless" in resolving the issues.

  • They made a wallet tracker like the AirTag, but thinner than a Ritz cracker
    www.popsci.com
Sure, AirTags are great. But when it comes to slipping one into your wallet, theyre bulky, awkward, and basically begging to fall out. • BIG Unveils Timber-Structured Design for the New Hungarian Natural History Museum in Debrecen

BIG Unveils Timber-Structured Design for the New Hungarian Natural History Museum in DebrecenSave this picture!New Hungarian Natural History Museum in Debrecen . Image BIGBIG, Bjarke Ingels Group, has been selected to design the new Hungarian Natural History Museum in Debrecen. Located on a former sports ground at the northern edge of the city's Great Forest, Nagyerd, the 23,000 m museum is being developed in collaboration with Vikr s Lukcs pts Stdi, Museum Studio, and TYPSA. The new institution will replace the existing museum in Budapest, supporting the government's vision to establish Debrecen as a regional hub for education and culture by 2030. Commissioned by the Museum and the Ministry of Culture and Innovation, the new building will house permanent and temporary exhibition halls, educational and research facilities, public amenities, and back-of-house spaces.Save this picture! The proposed design features three overlapping ribbons that rise from the forest floor, shaping a public and scientific destination. With a mass timber structure and charred timber faade, BIG's museum is partially sunken into the ground, blending into its park surroundings, while its sloping roofscape invites public access and offers expansive city views. The design integrates open plazas, winding forest paths, and framed views through and over the building. Accessible from all sides, the arrival experience is marked by a southern plaza, serving as a meeting point for community life and museum activities.Save this picture! Our design is conceived as an intersection of paths and lineages. Intersecting ribbons of landscape overlap to produce a series of niches and habitats, halls and galleries, blending the inside and the outside, the intimate and the mastodontic in seamless continuity. The result is a manmade hill in a forest clearing; geometrically clear yet softly organic - an appropriate home for the wonders of the natural world. - Bjarke Ingels, Founder and Creative Director, BIG Related Article BIG Unveils Design for Kosovos First Opera House with Undulating Photovoltaic Roof The building will feature five exhibition wings dedicated to permanent galleries and one for temporary exhibitions and public programs, arranged in a radial layout. A reception hall serves as the central navigation point, while a library and restaurant above offer views into the forest canopy. Below, a learning hub will host workshops, play spaces, and research labs. The roof is to be planted with native species, explicitly designed to provide habitats for local flora and fauna, and visually extending the park over the museum. Vegetation will also be integrated into the building's interior, accompanying rest and gathering areas for visitors throughout the year.Save this picture!Save this picture! We envisioned the Hungarian Natural History Museum as an integrated part of its environment, both shaped by and shaping the landscape around it. Constructed from mass timber, the building features a faade of locally sourced charred timber panels that emerge from the ground, blurring the lines between architecture and wilderness. The museum draws on the thermal mass of the ground and integrates on-site energy systems, including geothermal loops and photovoltaic panels, to ensure a stable indoor climate year-round. Rather than simply preserving the site, the building restores and enhances it - regenerating biodiversity while quietly adapting to its surroundings. - Hanna Johansson, Partner, BIG Save this picture!Save this picture!Other recent BIG projects include the recently completed Jinji Lake Pavilion in China, a 1,200 m public and hospitality space; the design for Kosovo's first Opera House, featuring an undulating photovoltaic roof; and an 8,500 m palliative care center envisioned as a village surrounded by nature in Denmark. Bjarke Ingels will also participate in the Salone del Mobile talks on April 10, discussing how materiality, technology, and human interaction can redefine urban planning.Image gallerySee allShow lessAbout this authorCite: Antonia Pieiro. Tim ClarkHousesRosedale, AustraliaArchitects: Scale ArchitectureYearCompletion year of this architecture project Year: 2024 PhotographsPhotographs:Tim ClarkMore SpecsLess SpecsSave this picture!Text description provided by the architects. On Yuin country, Rosedale is a small coastal town on the South Coast of New South Wales, Australia. During the Black Summer bushfires of 2019-2020, the seaside community was completely razed, and the original Polish-style summer house, originally commissioned by our clients' father, was lost to fire. The devastation to the built environment was clearly seen to the world, yet the hidden impacts to the social fabric remain a critical issue. Getting people back into their homes plays a vital role in repairing communities.Save this picture! The house, clad entirely in red corrugated iron, with its hip-roof profile is an unashamed reference to the modest tin shacks that once lined our coastal towns. The monochromatic response might appear to sit in contrast against its bushy coastal suburban context, but is so fitting in its context, that it appears to hide in plain sight.Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture! The compact 87m2 pavilion sits on an elevated galvanised steel structure, with a deck sitting amongst the majestic coastal spotted gums. A covered deck completes the simple rectangular plan, offering refuge from the searing Australian sun.Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture! The Rosedale house is a small yet significant contribution to the rebuilding effort in the wake of the Black Summer bushfires. • Heres how much Nintendo Switch 2 Edition game upgrades will cost you
    metro.co.uk
These games will all see visual improvements on Switch 2 (Nintendo)No official prices have been shared for Nintendo Switch 2 game upgrades here in the West, but Japans prices do provide an estimate. It was already suspected beforehand, but yesterdays Nintendo Switch 2 showcase confirmed that select games for the original Switch will see upgraded re-releases for the new console.Dubbed Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games, theyll all see visual improvements, but some will also come with entirely new content. Super Mario Party Jamborees Switch 2 version, for example, adds entirely new modes and minigames that make use of the consoles mouse controls and microphone.Unsurprisingly, these upgrades wont be free for those who already own the original games, and while Nintendo hasnt provided local prices yet, fans have figured out an estimate based on how much the upgrades cost in Japan. How much will Nintendo Switch 2 Edition game upgrades cost?As spotted on the Japanese Nintendo Switch 2 website, upgrading to a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of a game can cost either 1,000 yen or 2,000 yen depending on the game. Thats tantamount to about $10 to $20.Here in the UK, that would be roughly 8 to 15, but no one knows for certain until Nintendo provides official pricing. It could very well opt to make the upgrades cost 10 to 20.As it stands, the Switch 2 versions of The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild and its sequel, Tears Of The Kingdom, are the cheapest ones to upgrade at 1,000 yen/$10 each. This is because all they have are improved frame rates and faster load times as well as exclusive support for a new Zelda Notes service on the Nintendo Switch App that can be used to help you find certain collectibles and share items with other players. Will you be paying extra just to experience the Zelda games with better visuals? (Nintendo)If you own either of the Zelda games and have a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription, you will be able to play their respective Switch 2 version for free. However, these are currently the only two games included with the service.More TrendingSuper Mario Party Jamboree and Kirby And The Forgotten Land, meanwhile, will cost 2,000 yen/$20 each to upgrade since they come with new content. Super Mario Party Jamboree gets the aforementioned new modes and minigames, while the Kirby game is adding a new story mode titled Star-Crossed World. The only other two games set to receive Switch 2 Editions Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokmon Legends Z-A currently do not have upgrade prices. Its ultimately not that much different to how Sony handled offering PlayStation 5 upgrades for its PlayStation 4 games, although that attracted controversy at the time since such upgrades were initially free.Nintendos pricing has similarly been met with complaints, particularly with how much new Switch 2 games will cost. Mario Kart World, for instance, is priced at a whopping 74.99 physically and 66.99 digitally. Itll be cheaper digitally, but not that much cheaper (Nintendo)Emailgamecentral@metro.co.uk, leave a comment below, follow us on Twitter, andsign-up to our newsletter. To submit Inbox letters and Readers Features more easily, without the need to send an email, just use ourSubmit Stuff page here. For more stories like this, check our Gaming page.ArrowMORE: How to pre-order the Nintendo Switch 2 in the UKGameCentralSign up for exclusive analysis, latest releases, and bonus community content. This site is protected by reCAPTCHA and the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
