Ukrainian paratroopers said a North Korean soldier they captured ran into a pillar to knock himself out.They said they found him alone on the battlefield with a grenade, a knife, and some food.Their prisoner closely resembles one of the two North Koreans Ukraine said it captured.Ukrainian paratroopers in Kursk said they captured a North Korean soldier who tried so hard to evade capture that he intentionally ran into a concrete pillar to knock himself out.Three members of the 95th Separate Air Assault Polissia Brigade spoke of the encounter in a video published on Tuesday, describing how one of their drones found a lone North Korean on the battlefield after an assault had ended.The clip was published by the brigade's press service on its YouTube, Facebook, and Telegram accounts.The paratroopers said they enveloped the North Korean with guidance from drone operators and found that he didn't respond to commands in Ukrainian, Russian, or English."With gestures, we showed him what to do," one of the paratroopers said.The soldier was carrying a grenade, a knife, and a sausage, the paratroopers said.They said the North Korean was also visibly wounded, with his jaw bandaged and one of his hands appearing to be injured.One paratrooper said the injured soldier appeared calm at first but grew agitated when he saw a vehicle coming to pick him up."When we brought him near the road, suddenly he ran headfirst into a concrete pillar at full speed. He hit it very hard and probably passed out," he said.But the paratrooper also suspects it might have been a ploy by the North Korean soldier, because the latter fell backward, not forward, as one might expect when a charging person faints."I think he was faking it, trying to get us close so he could grab a weapon and attack us," he said.The paratroopers said they eventually hauled the North Korean into a vehicle and took him away from the front lines, after which he received food and watched romance films upon request.An older paratrooper said in the video that the North Koreans' tactics appeared to mimic Russia's Soviet-era fighting, with frontal assaults where "they try to crush simply with massive numbers."But he added that while Russian forces in Kursk tend to attack in groups of two or three, the North Koreans would conduct assaults with groups of at least six.The paratroopers said that Pyongyang's forces would fight to the end if cornered, adding that their brigade reported instances where wounded North Koreans blew themselves up to avoid capture."They are not in a mood to surrender," one of the paratroopers said.The man they captured appears to be one of two North Korean soldiers whom Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced had been seized from the battlefield in early January. Planets outside our solar system can be wild, weird places. Astronomers have discovered exoplanets shaped like a rugby ball, or where it rains gems, or which have one hemisphere covered in lava. And now theres a new oddity to add to the catalog: a planet with winds that are faster than the speed of sound.WASP-127b is a huge, puffy sphere which is one of the least dense planets ever discovered. It is larger than Jupiter, but has less than a fifth of Jupiters mass, making it unlike anything in our solar system. And its oddity has made it a favorite target for study, with astronomers observing clouds there in 2022, making it one of the few detections of clouds on a planet outside our solar system.Recommended VideosNow, astronomers have gone back to study the planet again using the European Southern Observatorys Very Large Telescope (ESOs VLT), and they observed winds reaching incredible speeds of up to 20,000 mph. Part of the atmosphere of this planet is moving towards us at a high velocity while another part is moving away from us at the same speed, explained lead researcher Lisa Nortmann of the University of Gttingen, Germany. This signal shows us that there is a very fast, supersonic, jet wind around the planets equator.The winds move far faster than the planet is rotating, at six times the speed, which has not been seen before and which creates a jetstream whipping around the planet. The extreme nature of the weather on this planet may be because researchers think that it is tidally locked, meaning one side of the planet always faces its star, while the other side always faces out into space. One side of the planet therefore gets hotter than the other, and the temperature difference between these two hemispheres may contribute to the very high winds which flow around the planet.However, the researchers also discovered another noteworthy feature about the planet it has poles which are cooler than the rest of the planet. This shows that the planet has complex weather patterns just like Earth and other planets of our own System, said fellow researcher Fei Yan of the University of Science and Technology of China.In the future, the researchers want to use instruments like the upcoming Extremely Large Telescope to study the planets weather in even greater detail. Tech news outlet The Information first reported on the project in March 2024. Netflix has introduced a new type of extra member account: extra members with ads.The streamer announced the new offering in a shareholder letter on Tuesday before its fourth-quarter earnings call. In the US, according to Netflix's help site, adding an extra member with ads costs $7 per month, and the option is available alongside the pre-existing extra member accounts that do not have ads.Per Netflix's site, these extra member accounts work similarly to the previous version as a way to pay more for an additional person located in a different household. You'll need an ad-free type of Netflix -- either Standard or Premium -- to purchase an extra member slot. Netflix Premium subscribers can add up to two slots, and Standard customers get one. Extra members have a separate account and password.Netflix also announced price increases on Tuesday. Now, the ad-based extra member version costs $1 per month less than the Standard with Ads plan and $2 less than an ad-free extra member account.Other than the price, a difference between being an extra member with ads and a Standard with Ads subscriber is that extra members can only watch and download on one device at a time. Standard with ads members get two simultaneous screens and devices for downloading. While the opening episodes establish a sharp and engaging story grounded in a cozy Cambridge setting brimming with tweedy charms, its later, international-spy-thriller portions begin to feel like a Dan Brown novel blending egghead enigmas with grand conspiracies. The race to crack the pattern within the prime numbers underpinning most modern cryptographic security stumbles into the same pitfalls as the film versions of Browns The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons, as its embrace of big ideas is accompanied by dull info dumps, uneven pacing, and an overreliance on scenes of people doing research, pointing at screens, or reading old notes with intense stares.As Prime Target progresses, the journey begins to feel less compelling than the destination. It stretches itself thin over eight episodes, relying on filler and exposition that sap the story of its momentum. The tight construction and engaging question marks of the opening chapters are overtaken by repetition, with Edward and Taylah moving from one cryptic clue to the next, interspersed with vague, ominous warnings about the importance and apparent danger of numbers divisible only by 1 or themselves. These warnings become the shows awkward mantra, crowbarred into nearly every episode as if to remind viewers that the plot is still moving forward. I found the concept of an apocalyptic mathematical discovery undeniably cool, but the execution lacks the spark to make it feel genuinely thrilling or believable. Theres too much self-seriousness on display to allow for a full embrace of the concepts fun. In its place: a hatful of melodrama that mostly feels unearned.The characters are drawn just as flimsily. Thankfully, both leads deliver strong performances: Woodall plays Edward as the quintessential genius whose intellect seems almost too vast for the mundane concerns of everyday life,capturing a mix of youthful brilliance and prickly, too-smart-for-the-world hostility. And Swindell brings a calculated intensity to Taylah, tempered by moments of subtle, grounding warmth. Theyre intriguing protagonists, but their arcs still feel underdeveloped, with motivations shifting without much explanation and arguments that blow up seemingly out of nowhere. The supporting characters fare worse, often reduced to shallow vehicles for exposition and plot. Any attempts to goose the energy levels through globetrotting location changes come across as artificial distractions rather than meaningful advancements in the story.Eventually, Prime Target begins to buckle under the weight of its ambition. The tension dissipates as the story meanders, weighed down by superficial drama and a lack of compelling new plot points. While there are moments of genuine intrigue particularly in the way the writers weave Edwards work into the main storyline these moments are too fleeting to sustain momentum. Ultimately, the show is undermined by a lack of confidence in its own ideas. While it shines in moments particularly in the early episodes and remains fairly watchable throughout, it ultimately fails to live up to the grand spy-thriller potential its opening episodes tease.

A plan to build a system of data centers for artificial intelligence has been revealed in a White House press conference, with Masayoshi Son, Sam Altman, and Larry Ellison joining Donald Trump to announce The Stargate Project. Their companies, Softbank, OpenAI, and Oracle (respectively), along with MGX are listed as initial equity funders for $500 billion in investments over the next four years, building new AI infrastructure for OpenAI in the United States.According to a statement from OpenAI, Arm, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Oracle, and OpenAI are the initial tech partners, with a buildout currently underway starting in Texas as other sites across the country are evaluated. It also says that Oracle, NVIDIA, and OpenAI will closely collaborate to build and operate this computing system.Separately, Microsoft announced an update to its partnership with OpenAI, saying that the key elements of their deal remain in place through 2030, covering our access to OpenAIs IP, our revenue sharing arrangements and our exclusivity on OpenAIs APIs all continuing forward. What is changing is that Microsoft says OpenAI has made a new, large Azure commitment that will continue to support all OpenAI products as well as training. However, their exclusive arrangement for new capacity is changing so that now Microsoft has a right of first refusal over OpenAI building new capacity.In a press conference announcing the project, which has been rumored since early last year, Son and Altman spoke directly to Trump, insisting that the project only happened because of his election victory.

Recent reports claimed that theHorizonMMORPG rumoured to be in development at NCSoft had been cancelled. Amidst a fresh flurry of live service cancellations at PlayStation, that didnt come as a huge surprise to many- but it now seems that the project may have survived the axe after all.NCSofthasindeed cancelled the in-development title known internally asProject H,though contrary to speculation, it seems that game isnt theHorizonMMO being made in collaboration with PlayStation and Guerrilla. Thats as per reporter Seo Jeong-geun, who wrote the original report for Korean outlet MTN from which this story emerged. Taking to Korean gaming forum Ruliweb, Jeong-geun that theProject Hin question has nothing to do withHorizon.Interestingly, job listings published by NCSoft indicate that theHorizonMMO is in development under the codenameProject Skyline(via ResetEra). Though it was initially being worked on asProject H,it seems that codename was being held by an entirely different project that has now have been cancelled. That would mean NCSoft is still collaborating with Guerrilla and PlayStation on the Horizontitle. The company signed a strategic partnership with Sony back in November of 2023.Guerrilla is currently also working on a separate co-opHorizonproject that is rumoured to be the studios next big release.
