The White-Lord House at 31 North Washington Square in Salem, Massachusetts, is one of a row of stately brick, Federal style mansions built for wealthy 19th century merchants overlooking the bucolic Salem Common. This house was built in 1811 for merchant Stephen White by master mason Joshua Upham (1784-1858), adjacent to his brothers mansion across the street. It was later the home of merchant John W. Rogers from 1831 to 1844 and merchant Thomas P. Pingree from 1844 to 1858 before it was acquired by Nathaniel Lord in 1858 and members of the family continued to occupy the house for the next ninety years. George R. Lord (1817-1891) was a lawyer and assistant Clerk of the Courts. The exterior of the White-Lord House has changed little beyond the switch to the two-over-two sash windows sometime in the latter half of the 19th century.

The community encourages users to maintain "immersion" by behaving as if the stories are real.The term "creepypasta" describes stories from the subreddit and is a play on the term "copypasta" blocks of text that are so memorable they are reposted and repurposed across social media, becoming a meme.The film will be based on one of the community's most popular stories titled, "I pretended to be a missing girl so I could rob her family." The story follows a girl who pretends to be a daughter missing for several years so she can steal from a family. The plot is similar to the 2009 horror movie "Orphan," which follows a 33-year-old Russian woman pretending to be a young girl so that an unsuspecting family will adopt her.Sweeney has signed on to star in and produce the project, and according to the report, Academy Award-winning "Forest Gump" writer Eric Roth will write the script.Joe Cote, an English teacher from Massachusetts, posted the story on Reddit.
