Oscar Isaac Pulls Out of Star Wars Celebration, and Now MCU Fans Think Moon Knight Is in Avengers: Doomsday
OK, roll with us on this one... Oscar Isaac might just be returning as Moon Knight, and in Avengers: Doomsday no less. Shocked? Us too, but theres one particular recent development that is starting to make the theory seem plausible.Earlier in the weekend, Star Wars Celebrations official social media revealed that Isaac would no longer be making an appearance at the beloved convention in Japan this year due to changes in his production schedule.Isaac's appearance at Star Wars Celebration was a headline-grabbing announcement back in February, sparking rumors of Poe Dameron's return to the galaxy far, far away. Rey actress Daisy Ridley appeared at Star Wars Celebration 2023 to announce she would appear in a new film, so fans were wondering if Isaac would do something similar here.PlayNaturally, Isaac's production schedule changes were not detailed, but considering Avengers: Doomsday is currently in production in London, it didn't take long for fans to put two and two together to come up with Moon Knight in Avengers. That said, the theory is still just a theory. Marvel does like surprises, but the fact remains that Isaac wasnt actually one of the many announced names in the Doomsday cast reveal. However, Marvel Studios producer Kevin Feige did confirm that the livestream did not include the entire cast of Doomsday We revealed many, not all, he said over a video call at CinemaCon so we can dream, cant we?One six-episode season of Moon Knight was released back in 2022 starring Isaac, but Marvel has yet to announce a follow-up. Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026, with a whole host of returning heroes and famous faces bringing the story to life as per the epic livestream.Meanwhile, MCU fans have also turned their inquisitive gaze upon Robert Downey Jrs hair after the Iron Man actor recently sent out a Doctor Doom-themed invitation for this 60th birthday party.Last month's Avengers: Doomsday cast reveal was heavy on veteran X-Men actors. Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden are all now set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, confirming the X-Men are in the film in a big way. Grammer famously played Beast in the Fox X-Men franchise before making his MCU debut via The Marvels' post-credits scene. Stewart played Charles Xavier/Professor X in the X-Men films before appearing briefly in the MCU via Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as a member of the Illuminati. McKellen, who played Magneto, has yet to appear in the MCU. Neither has Cumming, who played Nightcrawler, Romijn, who played Mystique, nor Marsden, who played Cyclops. It begs the question: is Avengers: Doomsday secretly an Avengers vs. X-Men movie?Lex Briscuso is a film and television critic and a freelance entertainment writer for IGN. The Phoenician Scheme Trailer Brings Wes Anderson Back to the Action Genre
Plane crashes! Terrorists! Gun fights! That sort of stuff appears all the time in trailers for summer action movies. But its a little different when the movie in question is The Phoenician Scheme, written and directed by Wes Anderson. Anderson is best known for impeccably-designed comedies about incredibly privileged and incredibly talented people going on emotional journeys, movies such as The Royal Tenenbaums and The Grand Budapest Hotel. To be sure, The Phoenician Scheme has all of the hallmarks of an Anderson movie. Yellow Futura font? Check. Wide-angle shots of characters standing in a straight line? Check. Actors from previous Anderson movies? Check. The Phoenician Scheme stars Benicio del Toro as rich European Zsa Zsa Korda who creates a stir when he leaves his estate not to his nine sons, but to his sole daughter Liesl (Mia Threapleton), who has become a nun and is estranged from her father. The announcement comes as Korda embarks on his greatest project, a massive complex on the island of Phoenicia. In response, several of Kordas rivals (played by regulars such as Mathieu Amalric, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Jeffrey Wright, and Scarlett Johansson). line up to attack or support him.So far, so familiar, at least within the Anderson canon. Even newcomers such as Michael Cera and Richard Ayoade appear to fit so well within Andersons world that its kind of a shock that this is their first project together. But then the guns come out. Within the two minute and forty-four second clip, terrorists fire machine guns, grenades explode, and someone pulls a knife all stuff that seems far outside the scope of a guy who makes movies about sad prep school kids.Except, it isnt. Wes Anderson has made an action movie before. The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou is, certainly, standard Anderson fare, the story of a Jacques Cousteau-type oceanographer trying to get a look at the jaguar shark that devoured his friend and made him a laughing stock, while also reconnecting with his long-lost son (Owen Wilson). Yet, The Life Aquatic is also an action movie, by Andersons own admission. In the directors commentary for the Criterion release, Anderson talks about how he intentionally tried to borrow from action tropes, especially in a late plot turn in which pirates kidnap Zissou and his men. Theres more than a little of Indiana Jones and Belloc to the conflict between Steve and his nemesis Alistair Hennessey (Jeff Goldblum), who find themselves drawn together (along with a bond company stooge played by Bud Cort) while escaping from the pirates.Andreson allowed himself a more direct homage for the end of The Life Aquatic, which borrows from the ending of The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai. Set to David Bowies Queen Bitch, we watch as Zissou walks stridently in front of the camera as the credits roll. Eventually, hes joined as other members of his team join him. But where Buckaroo Banzai and his team simply stride with no particular direction (and also counted Goldblums newcomer New Jersey among the joiners), Zissou leads his group to his ship the Belafonte, an affirmation of life that continues even after completing his adventure.Zissous next adventure never made it to screen, but with The Phoenician Scheme, it appears that Andersons has arrived. The trailer alone features just as much violence as The Life Aquatic, suggesting that Anderson intends to outdo his previous dabbling in the genre. Given the expansion of Andersons recent works the worlds within worlds of Asteroid City, the globetrotting of The French Dispatch, and the layered comedy of The Grand Budapest Hotel the time is right for a big budget actioner from him. As long as it comes with at least one shot of Bill Murray, looking wistfully off into the distance. The Phoenician Scheme blasts into theaters on May 30, 2025.Join our mailing listGet the best of Den of Geek delivered right to your inbox!

Apple makes the iPhone better every single year. But for a long time now, new models have been a bit boring compared to the products early days of innovation. Kawasaki Shows Off Concept for Rideable Horse Robot
Clop! Clop!No Time to ExplainKawasaki Heavy Industries has shown off a bizarre concept for a ridable, four-legged robotic "horse," dubbed Corleo, that runs on a 150cc hydrogen engine.According to the firm, the horse which looks more like a gigantic wolf, in our opinion could traverse uneven terrain thanks to its four independently moving limbs. A wild, almost entirely CGI video shows off what such a creature might one day be capable of, from climbing mountains to leaping over icy crevasses. However, it remains to be seen whether Corleo will ever roam free, especially with the degree of agility seen in the video.By all indications, the project is almost pure vaporware. We haven't even seen a rider actually take it for a spin yet, indicating the contraption is far more hype than reality. And that's a real bummer, considering how fun it'd be to gallop around on a futuristic metal horse.Hop On, Hop OffKawasaki Heavy Industries unveiled the concept at the Osaka Kansai Expo, which kicked off last week. A full-scale model can be seen lightly stretching its legs on the show floor but not frolicking free like something out of the "Horizon" video game series. While Corleo is mostly fictional at this point, we've already seen other companies try to turn a ridable, four-legged robot into a reality. Robotics company Xiaopeng Motors, for instance, showed off a ridable "unicorn" for children last year. We've also come across a giant, minivan-sized,rhinoceros-like four-legged walking robot that can carry up to four passengers.Apart from Corleo, Kawasaki Heavy Industries also showed off a concept for a futuristic modular train passenger system, dubbed ALICE, which the company claims could eliminate congestion and enhance travel efficiency.Meanwhile, users on the r/motorcycles subreddit weren't impressed with Kawasaki's latest, four-legged invention."Looks like a late April Fool's day joke," one user wrote.More on walking robots: China Is Hosting The Worlds First Foot Race Between Humans and RobotsShare This Article

Mike White Reveals Sex Scene Cut From White Lotus Finale
The following post contains SPOILERS for The White Lotus Season 3.A key scene scrapped from Sunday nights Season 3 finale of The White Lotus would have linked two characters in a romantic way even though they never shared a single minute of screen time.Scene Would Have Featured Piper Losing Her VirginityIn the final episode of the season, we see Piper Ratliff (Sarah Catherine Hook) return from her overnight stay at a monastery where she was considering to live for the next year.Fabio Lovino/HBOFabio Lovino/HBOloading...To her mothers (Parker Posey) relief, Piper found the food and accommodations at the monastery to not be up to her standards as a well-off college student from North Carolina. Shes rewarded with a quick shopping trip and somepia coladas made from coconut milk that is off. While the rest of her familys story continues during the episode, Pipers arc mostly ends there. The White Lotuswriter and creator Mike White has revealed there was originally a lot more planned for Piper in the finale. In an early episode of Season 3, older brother Saxon does his best to let everyone know Piper is still a virgin. White said during the latest episode of The White Lotus Official Season 3 Podcast that Piper was set to change that in the finale. The part that was cut, too, which is very disappointing, is that she decides to lose her virginity in the script in the last episode, White said. The scene, by Whites estimation, would have added another 10 minutes to the already 90-minute episode.Theres a whole scene where shes like Its true Saxons right about this one thing. I need to get this over with, White explained.Who Did Piper Haver Sex With In Scene Cut From Finale? Not only would the scrapped scene added more depth to the Piper character, it also would have potentially intertwined her story with another person at the White Lotus that she never crossed paths with the entire season.White said during the podcast episode that Piper eventually finds herself in the resorts restaurant where she is looking for someone to have sex with. She eventually zeros in on Zion (Nicholas Duvernay), son of newly-minted millionaire and possible future spa owner Belinda (Natasha Rothwell).Nicholas Duvernay in the season 3 finale of The White LotusWarner Bros. Building Safety Regulator losing half its time setting up inter-organisation groups, says minister
The minister for building safety has said the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) is losing too much time organising inter-organisation teams to conduct its work.Alex Norris was questioned on the performance of the regulator in the House of Commons by the housing, communities and local government committee.Source: FlickrBuilding safety minister Alex NorrisMace chief executive Mark Reynolds has previously told the committee that the regulator is taking up to 11 months to sign off on the safety of housing schemes, with delays in the Gateway 2 process becoming an increasing source of frustration for developers. The Building Safety Regulator has said that only a handful of very complex cases have taken 11 months and that the processing time for new complex, high-risk building projects under Gateway 2 had decreased to an average of roughly four months.Questioned on this by the committee, Norris agreed that we cannot have this component of that process take a year but said that the trajectory is getting better than that.> Also read:What the delays at the Building Safety Regulator mean for high-rise developmentHe said that part of the problem was the amount of time lost in establishing teams to work on applications for approval.Of the time they have available, they often lose about half of it in the establishment of multidisciplinary teams that is, getting together their people, the councils people and the fire and rescue people, said Norris. We have got to concertina that down. The BSR told Housing Today that it multi-disciplinary teams were used to discharge regulatory functions and are set up for specific regulatory activities for specific buildings, as needed. These teams typically consist of Registered Building Inspectors, Fire and Rescue Service personnel and other specialist skills. The logistical organisation of three organisations setting up resources, and in a market whereby the resources are tight, simply takes time, a spokesperson said. However, the regulator gave an alternative explanation for delays in the approval process, explaining that the main driver for longer handling times now is the very high volume of further information requests because applicants are not submitting good, quality applications. It also said that a backlog of complex in-flight higher risk projects had come to the regulator after the collapse ofprivate registered building control approver AIS Surveyors Ltd.Nonetheless, the BSR said it was looking at how it resources the multidisciplinary teams that assess applications to enable these teams to be stood up more quickly. The regulator has received additional funding from MHCLG this year to improve its infrastructure, training and processes.Norris also told the committee that the regulator needed to look at areas where efficiencies could be found, giving the example of multi-site developments that cover a single area.> Also read:Fewer than one in four high-rise resi projects have received gateway 3 final safety stage sign-offIf you are going to have a multi-site development in the same area, there is also a question about whether having a multidisciplinary team for each building is an effective process, he said.Could we be more joined up therehaving each building looked at on its merits, but one team doing that? I think there is scope for that.At significant points in the chain, there are really important operational things that could be done better. However he stressed that the process did have to feel onerous because it is a real check and balance.Norris also revealed to the committee that the establishment of a panel to assess proposals to reform building control, a recommendation of the Grenfell Inquiry report, was imminent, with Dame Judith Hackitt picked as chair. He said the department had largely asked Judith to convene her own team.
