Days Gone Remastered: a closer look at the Horde Assault mode’s survival-arcade action
Days Gone Remastered comes to PlayStation 5 on April 25. Experience the definitive version of Days Gone with new modes, features, and technical enhancements to leverage the PS5 and PS5 Pro consoles. The new game modes including Horde Assault, Permadeath, and Speedrun also arrive on PC via the Broken Road DLC. Whether you’re visiting Days Gone for the first time or jumping back on the Drifter bike, there’s plenty of content to explore and new things to discover. If you haven’t already, be sure to read our Days Gone Remastered announcement blog for more details on all the new content and features.  Introducing one of our most expansive new additions to Days Gone Remastered, Horde Assault – a survival arcade mode. Before we dive in, watch the gameplay trailer for the new mode below.  Play Video What is Horde Assault mode?  Horde Assault offers fresh and unexpected gameplay designed to challenge your skills as you try to achieve a high score, while surviving as long as possible against increased horde sizes and various other enemies, like Breakers, Reachers, and Rager bears, oh my! Fight your way through a brutal, ever-changing landscape where enemies escalate in difficulty the longer you survive. Horde Assault was built from the promise of “This World Comes For You,” showcasing the core gameplay of the Days Gone open world in a unique way. Horde Assault is your playground for a truly endless game mode, go show them Freakers who’s boss.  Begin Horde Assault by dropping into Cascade with only a sidearm weapon at your disposal. Fight your way through the initial assault of Freakers to reach your Drifter bike, a valuable tool to traverse the open region. Seek out Supply Boxes scattered around the map to obtain powerful weapons to greatly increase your chance at survival. With more than 20 available weapons to use, including a new flamethrower not offered in Story mode, finding a Supply Box could be life or death when encountering the next horde. What weapons drop from each Supply Box is random and will reset upon each new start.   While you’re out there fighting for your life (literally) refill your resources and earn additional XP by completing Side Jobs. These mini objectives are critical for keeping you in the fight. Running out of ammo with up to 800 Freakers chasing you, is not ideal. We did say there are increased hordes… Of course, we couldn’t make it that easy for you. Should you make it to 30 minutes of survival time in any map, you will be treated to the Ultimate Horde. A never-ending horde fight in a relentless approach to hunt you down. We’ll stop explaining it any further and let you experience it firsthand.   Survive  Move up in level to earn in-mode rewards with never-before-playable characters, new patch cosmetics, and unique Injectors on offer to greatly impact your gameplay experience.   Speaking of Injectors, players of Days Gone will already be familiar with the benefits of Injectors from the main story. This idea carries over to Horde Assault, but now with a big uplift to drastically change gameplay in the form of modifiers. During your journey to Legendary Survivor, you can earn a total of 24 unique Injectors – 12 Positive and 12 Negative. Positive Injectors provide a positive boost to your score but increase the challenge. Negative Injectors provide a penalty to your score but increases your chance of survival with gameplay benefits.  We don’t want to spoil the full list, but let’s spotlight a couple Injectors to give you a sneak peek what they have to offer.  Exploding Freakers – Upon death Freakers will explode. You need any advantage you can get when facing increased horde sizes and this Injector is a unique way to trim its numbers. Wanted – Start at maximum heat level. In Horde Assault, the longer you survive the more difficult your survival chances become. With this Injector, that escalation difficulty system begins immediately proving to be a real challenge that only the strongest will survive.    During your time with Horde Assault, you will progress through a Reward path. The Reward path consists of 35 levels to achieve with each level earning you a reward including Injectors, character skins, and patch cosmetics. With the inclusion of Rewards, an additional six never-before-playable characters from Days Gone joins the roster including O’Brian, Lisa, fan-favorite Skizzo, and more.  Patches make a return from players who are familiar with the Challenges we released in 2019. This time, the patches serve as purely cosmetic on Deacon’s cut to show off to your friends. That Enhanced Photo Mode will come in handy here. Once you earn the patches, they will carry over to the story as well. In addition to the Reward path, there are bonus rewards in the Reputation Phase, beating the target score in all four regions. We don’t want to reveal this right away, but one of the rewards is a highly requested item our players have been asking for. Hint: It has to do with your bike.   Horde Assault is treated as end game content, though it is playable as soon as you boot up Days Gone Remastered. We encourage newcomers to get a handle on the combat and mechanics first by visiting the story, but nothing is stopping you from jumping right into the action to encounter the uniqueness of Days Gone, the hordes. Horde Assault will offer an additional 10 hours of gameplay packed on top of a content filled package that we hope will bring you plenty of enjoyment in the world of Days Gone.  When and where can you play Horde Assault  Horde Assault is available April 25, 2025 on PS5 with Days Gone Remastered as well as on PC with the Broken Road DLC.  Days Gone Remastered is available to pre-order today on PlayStation Store. I would not stay in a home that willingly displayed this ‘Joel with brick’ Last of Us bust
Dark Horse and Naughty Dog are collaborating on a limited-edition bust depicting Joel from The Last of Us angrily wielding a brick. It stands 8.5 inches tall, costs $149.99, and is very bad. “Clutching the ever-reliable brick, Joel stands battle-worn yet determined, clad in his signature green flannel and weathered backpack,” the press copy reads, perhaps too serious by half for such a silly collectors item. “Whether used as a weapon or a well-timed distraction, the brick is an essential tool in Joel’s fight for survival.” Who is this for? I can’t imagine even the most die-hard The Last of Us fan — a person I never want to meet, to be really real with everyone — wanting this harsh, bearded man on display in their home. What are you going to do, put it up next to your niece’s baby photos and that nice little painting you bought from a local artist at last week’s farmers market? The Last of Us is violent, sometimes to a hyperbolic degree, but I think ol’ Bricky Joel here would still shy away threatening to demolish grandma’s urn and spread her ashes on the fireplace mantle. All that said, it’s nowhere near as bad as the “Ellie with switchblade” bust the two companies released last year, and that unfortunate-looking statue sold out. I don’t think of myself as a snob, but if you welcome me into your home and I see either of these grumpy dorks on display anywhere outside of your teenager’s room, I’m making up an excuse and leaving early.

All the Companies That Have Paused US Sales Due to Tariffs (So Far)
"Tariff" might be the defining word of 2025. The Trump administration's crusade to tariff trading partners around the world has upended markets and shaken trust in the United States. The situation isn't resolving anytime soon, either: Following the U.S.'s decision to impose a 104% tariff increase on Chinese goods, China reciprocated by raising its tariffs on American goods from 34% to to 84%. In short? It's a mess, and no one can predict where we go from here. Markets, of course, loathe uncertainty, so when the global economy gets this shaky—especially when that instability is the direct result of one administration's actions—companies act to protect their interests. If you, like me, are an American, it's our country that's throwing these tariffs at nations around the world. As such, it shouldn't come as a huge surprise to see companies pause sales and business in the U.S. for the time being. While there aren't a ton of organizations running with this playbook, there are some notable names that have done so already. NintendoLast week was like Christmas Day for us Nintendo fans. The company spent an hour walking gamers through the new Switch 2, announcing new games, upgraded play styles, and, for the first time, in-game chat (including video calls).Switch 2 preorders were scheduled to start April 9, and seeing as the console has been hyped for years, preordering the console would be your best chance of picking one up. That's no longer the case. Following the tariffs, Nintendo announced Switch 2 preorders were delayed in the U.S., though the console's official June 5 release date remained unchanged. It's not clear if or when Nintendo plans to make preorders available to Americans, or whether the company will hike the price of the Switch 2, but seeing as the console alone starts at $450, any increases will make this an expensive handheld. FrameworkFramework makes laptops you can easily mod and upgrade yourself—the antithesis of most tech companies these days. Unfortunately, U.S. customers are going to have a hard time getting these machines in the near future. Following Nintendo's lead, Framework announced on Tuesday a pause on sales for specific laptops. The company says that, following the April 5 tariffs, they will not sell some of the base-model Framework Laptop 13 machines in the U.S., including the Ultra 5 125H and Ryzen 5 7640U models. Then on Wednesday, the company announced a pause on U.S. preorders for the new Laptop 12. Framework is also holding back on announcing a price for this machine, as it will likely cost more than originally intended. RazerRazer, a major laptop manufacturer, has taken things even further: The company has essentially stopped all laptop sales to the U.S., and has paused sales on some of its accessories as well. If you browse the various laptops for sale on the company's site, you'll only find "Notify Me" buttons, rather than any option to purchase. You can still purchase Razer laptops from other vendors, but I imagine those machines could sell out quickly given the company's sales pause, or even jump in price.Jaguar Land Rover AutomotiveIf you're in the market for a luxury vehicle, you might want to hold off on buying a Jag or a Land Rover. Jaguar Land Rover Automotive is pausing shipments of vehicles to the U.S., following Trump's 25% import tax on vehicles entering the country. Basic FunYou might not know the name Basic Fun, but you probably know its products. The company makes toys like Care Bears, Lincoln Logs, K'nex, and Tonka Trucks, but has paused shipments of its products that are made in China. The company's chief executive, Jay Foreman, told the New York Post that he "cannot risk putting any product on the water that might incur [high] tariffs as implemented and threatened by the president." Swiss watchesThe Post also reports that Swiss watchmakers, such as Audemars Piguet, Breitling, and Rolex, are pausing shipments as well. For context, Trump imposed a 31% tariff on Switzerland. Small businessesThe big-name businesses like Nintendo will make headlines, and will be easy to track when they pause sales or preorders to the U.S. But what's more difficult to identify are the number of small business pausing or stopping their sales due to these tariffs. In general, these tariffs are going to hit the smaller players in our economy hardest. These companies don't have the capital to either pay the higher fees on goods they've purchased from other countries, or to stop sales while they figure out their next moves. They'll have to raise prices to stay afloat, but then contend with consumers who may be hesitant to shop, since, well, everything is getting more expensive. Many of these companies have placed orders before the tariffs went into effect, but by the time the goods arrived in the U.S., multiple rounds of tariffs ballooned the fees. Sarah Wells, founder of Sarah Wells Bags, owed an additional $15,000 just to get her goods from customs. On the other hand, Emily Ley, owner of Simplified, has sued the Trump administration over these tariffs. Ley says the tariffs will cost her an extra $630,000 in fees this year. This is an ongoing situation. I will continue to add companies to this list as they announce pauses in sales and business.

Hogwarts Legacy and Blue Prince come to PlayStation Plus Game Catalog in April
Sony is beefing up the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog for Extra and Premium subscribers with a bevy of new additions for April. The headliner here is Hogwarts Legacy. This is one of the biggest blockbusters of the past couple of years, even in the face of J.K. Rowling doing her darndest to destroy her personal Hogwarts legacy with anti-trans nonsense. For the uninitiated, it’s an open-world action RPG set at Harry Potter’s favorite wizarding school. However, the game takes place in the 1890s, over a hundred years before Potter and his buds careened around the campus. The game hits the service on April 15. Also on the docket this month is the puzzler Blue Prince. This is actually a day-one launch for the platform. The reviews of this one have been particularly effusive, with most people praising the clever puzzles, the atmospheric game world and the addition of roguelike mechanics. It’ll be available for download on April 10. The second installment of Don’t Nod’s Lost Records: Bloom & Rage will also be available on April 15 for subscribers as a day-one launch. This follow-up concludes the time-twisting narrative adventure that’s set in both 1995 and 2022. This is generally considered a spiritual successor to the iconic Life is Strange. Other games dropping this month include EA Sports PGA Tour and the restaurant management sim PlateUp! PS4 players are also getting a little treat, as Battlefield 1 will be available from April 15.This article originally appeared on Engadget at https://www.engadget.com/gaming/playstation/hogwarts-legacy-and-blue-prince-come-to-playstation-plus-game-catalog-in-april-175501864.html?src=rss

Lego just opened a $1 billion factory in Vietnam that will run entirely on clean energy
Lego opened a $1 billion factory in Vietnam on Wednesday that it says will make toys without adding planet-warming gas to the atmosphere by relying entirely on clean energy. The factory in the industrial area of Binh Duong, close to Ho Chi Minh City, is the first in Vietnam that aims to run entirely on clean energy. Lego says it will do that by early 2026. It’s the Danish company’s sixth worldwide and its second in Asia. It will use high-tech equipment to produce colorful Lego bricks for Southeast Asia’s growing markets. “We just want to make sure that the planet that the children inherit when they grow up needs to be a planet that is still there. That is functional,” Lego CEO Niels Christiansen told The Associated Press. The factory is an important factor in Lego’s quest to stop adding greenhouse gases by 2050. It has a shorter-term target of reducing emissions by 37% by 2032. The privately held group makes its bricks out of oil-based plastic and says it has invested more than $1.2 billion in a search for more sustainable alternatives. But those efforts have not always been successful. Fast-industrializing Vietnam also aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, so it needs more of its factories to use clean energy. The country hopes the plant’s 12,400 solar panels and energy storage system will help set a precedent for more sustainable manufacturing. Locating the Lego factories in regions they supply has also helped insulate them from the tariffs ordered by U.S. President Donald Trump, Christiansen said. “Right now, I am probably more observant of what does this mean to growth in the world? Do we see consumer sentiment changing in parts of the world or not, and what would that potentially mean?” he said. The blocks are made from differently colored plastic grains that are melted at high temperatures and then fed into metal molds. The highly-automated factory uses robots for making the bricks to a tenth of a hair’s width precision and then packaging them. It eventually will employ thousands of mostly skilled workers to operate these machines. Some of them have already begun work after being trained in in Lego’s factory in eastern China. Manufacturing makes up a fifth of Vietnam’s GDP and consumes half the energy it uses. There are plans to phase out its coal power plants by 2040. The Lego factory, which spans 62 soccer fields, sets the “blueprint” for making large, power-guzzling factories sustainable while remaining profitable, said Mimi Vu, a founder of the consultancy Raise Partners in Ho Chi Minh City. “Sometimes it takes a big company, like Lego, to take those risks. To show that we can do it … And we can be profitable,” she said. The factory will benefit from a new 2024 rule known as a direct power purchase agreement or DPPA, which allows big foreign companies to buy clean energy directly from solar and wind power producers and to meet their clean energy requirements. The factory will be linked to an adjacent energy center where electricity can be stored in large batteries. “So even if the sun is only shining during the day, we store the energy and can use it all over. That will cover by far the majority of the consumption of the factory,” added Christiansen, The remaining 10%-20% of the factory’s energy needs will be met through agreements with other clean energy producers. “Lego and Vietnam, we are having the same aspirations. We both want to be green, to play our part in the climate. And I think this with the solar and battery and DPPA, it is showcasing that it can be done,” Jesper Hassellund Mikkelsen, Senior Vice President Asia Operations at the LEGO Group told The AP. The company will also open a distribution center in Vietnam’s southern Dong Nai province to help serve markets in Australia and other Asian countries where it sees an opportunity for growth. The five buildings in the factory meet high energy efficiency standards. Lego also has planted 50,000 trees – twice the number of the trees it cut to clear land for the factory. It’s the first Lego factory to replace single-use plastic bags with paper bags for packaging. Lego’s founder, Ole Kirk Kristiansen, started the company as a wooden toy maker before patenting the iconic plastic bricks in 1958. It is still is seeking a way to make its plastic bricks more environmentally friendly. Christiansen said Lego bricks last decades and could be reused, though the ultimately ambition is to make them out of more renewable materials. He said that a third of the materials used in Lego bricks made last year were from renewable and recycled sources. But that’s more expensive than plastic made out of fossil fuels. “It’s not inexpensive at this point in time, but we believe if we … lean into that, we help create a supply chain for the type of plastic materials that are not based on fossil fuel,” he said. ___ The Associated Press’ climate and environmental coverage receives financial support from multiple private foundations. Moonbeam lamp brings a poetic slice of lunar light to your space
The moon is associated with light so of course it’s a common source of inspiration for products connected to illumination. We’ve seen light fixtures, chandeliers, lamps, and other related products that have moon-related designs. Leather however is not normally used as material for light-related items. But when it comes to creatives, there can always be a way to combine a moon inspired design with the leather material to come up with an inspired design for a common, every day item. Designer: Six N. Five with Poltrona Frau In contemporary design where functionality intertwines with artistic expression, the Moonbeam lamp emerges as a captivating creation from the visionary studio Six N. Five, in collaboration with Poltrona Frau. This isn’t just a source of illumination but also a poetic interpretation of the moon’s ethereal beauty, designed to infuse any space with a serene and imaginative ambiance. Six N. Five, the moniker of Argentinian digital artist and designer Ezequiel Pini’s studio, is renowned for its pioneering use of 3D artistry, exploring themes of nature and light with a distinctive surreal touch. This design philosophy is vividly embodied in the Moonbeam lamp, which redefines the concept of a lunar eclipse in a truly unique way. The lamp features a striking composition: a rectangular brass base supports a disc elegantly covered in luxurious Pelle Frau® leather, available in a range of sophisticated colors. This leather disc partially overlaps a larger luminous circle crafted from frosted glass. The resulting interplay of materials and forms creates a slender crescent of light, suspended as if caught mid-eclipse. This visual effect evokes a powerful emotional response, reminiscent of a gentle moon sliver casting its soft glow. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the Moonbeam lamp offers a functional and evocative lighting experience. The integrated LEDs provide a subtle, dim light, perfect for creating a relaxing and intimate atmosphere. Adding another layer of enchantment, the glass lamp possesses the ability to change color, transitioning between white, blue, and red hues. This feature allows the lamp to subtly reproduce the various phases of the moon, bringing a touch of celestial magic indoors. More than just a light fixture, the Moonbeam lamp is a luminous sculpture. It stands as a testament to Six N. Five’s signature style – a blend of refined imagination and meticulous execution. The studio’s affinity for nature and the evocative power of light are palpable in this design, transforming an everyday object into a source of wonder. With its elegant materials, innovative design, and the ability to mimic the moon’s phases, the Moonbeam lamp by Six N. Five for Poltrona Frau is a statement piece that transcends mere functionality. It’s a poetic slice of moonlight, designed to illuminate not just a room, but also the imagination, creating a tranquil and charming sanctuary within any living space.
