Amico Fun Conversations |OT| What the heck’s an Intellivision Amico? Console’s leaky dev portal offers hints
Dancrane212 Member Oct 25, 2017 14,108 What the heck’s an Intellivision Amico? Console’s leaky dev portal offers hints Creators compare the $250 crowdfunded console’s power to a chip from a $100 2016 smartphone. arstechnica.com Ars Technica is reporting on the information that Intellivision leaked when their development portal was apparently public earlier this month and was then captured by the archive.org webcrawling service. The spec and details are in the link above. Since its announcement as a crowdfunded game console in 2018, the Intellivision Amico has had a weird public image. There have been many YouTube pronouncements about its family-friendliness, yet there are few concrete details that have convinced us it will stand out in an increasingly crowded home-gaming market. And this year, public scrutiny about the $250 system (currently open for $100 preorder "down payments" or full-price preorders, which include two controllers and six pack-in games) has grown, particularly after Intellivision joined the 2021 virtual E3-showcase fray—and did so with a resounding thud. Thus far, the Amico has used video presentations to show what the company hopes will set this handheld apart from the pack. Those videos mostly originate from Intellivision and a few hand-picked fan YouTube channels. Until we can go hands on with live hardware ourselves, these videos leave us with question marks about dev kits and other potentially inauthentic presentations. Leaks from an Intellivision developer portal this week will have to suffice for now, as it's a great opportunity to finally take a closer look at what the heck an Intellivision Amico actually is. Click to expand... Click to shrink... The Intellivision developer portal was recently publicly available online, no password needed, for long enough to have the details saved at archive.org earlier this month. Sources with knowledge about Amico have confirmed to Ars Technica that the leaked specs we've seen were legitimate. While the specs were live as recently as June 14 and line up with Amico's own official specs page, they could still change between now and the system's launch. Click to expand... Click to shrink... Ask yourself if Angry Birds® would be a hit if it was called The Catapult Game (without birds exploding etc.) Add humor to your games and you immediately step away from your competitors as most don't even try. All ZOTAC RTX 5060 Ti Cards Will Ship With A Single 8-Pin PCI-E Connector: Confirmed By Leaked Specs And Pics
Menu Home News Hardware Gaming Mobile Finance Deals Reviews How To Wccftech HardwareLeak All ZOTAC RTX 5060 Ti Cards Will Ship With A Single 8-Pin PCI-E Connector: Confirmed By Leaked Specs And Pics Sarfraz Khan • Apr 13, 2025 at 02:18am EDT Leaked pictures have confirmed that ZOTAC is skipping the 12-pin power connector for its RTX 5060 Ti GPUs. RTX 5060 Ti AMP, Twin Edge, and Twin Edge OC From ZOTAC Confirmed to Use a Single 8-pin PCI-E Connector to Meet the Requirements Thankfully, the RTX 5060 series appears to be safe from the melting problems as NVIDIA and its board partners will be equipping the cards with a single 8-pin power connector. It shouldn't be a surprise since the RTX 5060 series isn't as power-hungry as the 70-class cards and will get the job done in under 200W. The RTX 5060 Ti, which is set at 180W, reportedly features a single 8-pin PCI-E connector as spotted in the leaks. ZOTAC has prepared six different editions for the RTX 5060 Ti. Three are for the 8 GB and three for the 16 GB edition. The pics reveal the cards featuring 8-pin connectors even for the premium AMP edition. The Twin Edge and Twin Edge OC cards also bring a single 8-pin connector. 2 of 9 The specsheet also reveals the same and confirms some of the specs of the Twin Edge OC, including the boost clock of 2602 MHz. The 8-pin PCI-E connector is, by design, highly ideal for GPUs and hardly fails, unlike the 12-pin connectors, which commonly see melting on higher-end GPUs such as RTX 5090 and 5080. This is due to a design flaw that lets a single wire carry all the load even if the connector isn't connected properly. Image Credit: videocardz.com The 8-pin power connector totally cuts off the power supply if one of its wires is disconnected and maintains a balanced load across all the wires. Since the RTX 5060 Ti requires around 180W of power, a single 8-pin PCI-E plus the PCI-E x16 slot is enough for its power requirements. The former can supply up to 150W and the PCI-E slot can deliver up to 75W, totaling up to 225W at peak. This should be enough even for the OC cards and will provide enough room for overclocking as well. The RTX 4060 series also carried the same 8-pin power connector but was even more power-efficient. Now, as far as the RTX 5060 Ti from other vendors is concerned, it may be possible to see dual 8-pin power connectors if the vendors decide to expand the room for higher overclocking potential, but we have yet to confirm this. Hopefully, no vendor supplies the 12-pin connector on the RTX 5060 Ti as there is no need for it. How To Solve Eight Realms In Eight Months In Blue Prince
Are you ready to solve Eight Realms in Eight Months in Blue Prince? You're going to stumble upon this puzzle a few hours into your playthrough. However, you won't have all the information to make heads or tails of what you actually need to do. Thankfully, our guide here has all the details. Just watch out because we're going to include a few spoilers as well. How to solve Eight Realms in Eight Months in Blue Prince - Room 46 Map Puzzle guideEight Realms in Eight Months is quite a doozy of a puzzle. It involves doing the following:Revisit Room 46 after clearing the campaign once. Look behind the chair on the desk to see a map with pins. This is the Eight Realms in Eight Months Puzzle. It's a map with several continents and regions, and there are eight pins that you can place. Some partial clues can be found in other parts of the estate: The History of Orindia - This book can be purchased via the Bookstore, and you can request it in the Library.Classroom - Upon drafting a Classroom, you should check the test papers that students submitted. The most important hints, however, come from the Sanctum Keys that you've collected. These lead you to doorways in the Underground, where you have to solve the Sigil Puzzles. Each room with a Sigil Puzzle has a postcard from Herbert Sinclair detailing his trip. His letters addressed to you denote the correct order of the pins on the map board in Room 46.Note: Our guide looks into the clues first in case you want to solve the puzzle on your own. Or, you can skip straight ahead to the end to learn about the solution. Eight Realms in Eight Months clues: The History of Orindia and Classroom TestsBefore we provide the solution to the Blue Prince Eight Realms in Eight Months Puzzle, let's check out some clues:The History of Orindia book has a page that shows the eastern hemisphere of the map--i.e. Fenn Aries, Eraja, and Arch Aries. You can see this in the image above. The symbols on the landmasses correspond to some of the core symbols from the Sanctum Sigil Puzzles. The Classroom test papers, meanwhile, show flags with the correct colors. These are the flags of the nations from the book. Eight Realms in Eight Months clues: The Postcards from the Sanctum Sigil PuzzleNow, assuming you've solved all the Sanctum Sigil Puzzles, then you've likely seen the following:An illustration of a locale, be it a village, a mountain, a beach, etc.Herbert's letter to Simon talking about his travels.Flags and insignias with different colors. The idea is to arrange Herbert's letters in a chronological order. Imagine that he's sharing news about his journey. If so, which location did he come from? Which location did he travel to next? Which continent did he go to afterward? All of these appear as contextual clues in the letters. Eight Realms in Eight Months: Herbert's Travels Around the WorldOkay, we promise this is the last section about clues for the Blue Prince Eight Realms in Eight Months Puzzle. This is basically how Herbert's trip went:First location: Fenn Aries (chip symbol) - The first letter from the first Sigil Puzzle (from the left) tells you of how he started his journey. See how it matches the map from the History of Orindia.Second location: Eraja (hourglass symbol) - Herbert mentioned going south, so look at the Orindia map to see which region is south of Fenn Aries.Third location: Arch Aries (mountain symbol) - There are a couple of clues here: Herbert said that he misses the old days when railway tracks extended north. He wanted to trek along the northern coast.Fourth location: Mora Jai (cap symbol) - Herbert arrived on the main island after a sea voyage.Fifith location: Verra (jigsaw symbol) - Herbert mentioned that the weather in Verra is more severe compared to Mora Jai--i.e. he's been to Mora Jai already.Sixth location: Corarica (heart symbol) - It seems that frigid weather in Corarica is a welcome relief compared to Verra.Seventh location: Nuance (diamond symbol) - Herbert says that the views are as stirring as the ones in Corarica and Mora Jai, which he previously visited. Roblox is secretly host to some wild Warhammer 40K fan games
We’re currently experiencing a golden age of video games set in the far, grimdark future of Warhammer 40,000. There are the potent power fantasies of Space Marine 2 or Boltgun, the constant hordes and frenetic combat of Darktide, the deep role-playing potential of Rogue Trader, or the tactical combat of Mechanicus or Chaos Gate: Daemonhunters. Or, you could ignore all of these options and go to one of the most unexpected hubs for fan-made 40K games: Roblox. @goblinrurik No Horus Heresy we are the 40k #warhammer40k #roblox #spacemarine2 #gaming #foryo #warhammercommunity#meme #robloxgames #horusheresy #spacemarines ♬ original sound – Brennan Roblox is a free-to-play sandbox that hosts a ton of popular games, including Dress to Impress, Blox Fruit, and Squid Game remakes. Roblox allows users to make their own games and worlds, including ones inspired by the 40K universe. It’s an absolutely fascinating mash-up that most fans wouldn’t expect on account of some glaring contradictions. One of the most notable parts of 40K is that it’s so big — there are legions of genetically modified, heavily armored Space Marines, ancient and terrible alien empires, and the extraplanar and deeply malicious forces of Chaos. You might think it’s impossible to take a setting of this scope and scale it down for the friendly, blocky world of Roblox. To this I say: You fool. You credulous buffoon.  These developers are ambitious, and I was stunned when I took a spin through one project in development called Humanity’s Crusade, a fan game with a massive battle barge crewed by Space Marines, a battlefront against the Tyranids, and more. There’s also Marches of Molech, which is set during the Horus Heresy era; Wargamer took a look at the project last year. Here, we see a dedicated march of Ultramarines, with each Space Marine controlled by a player. Another game, called Caledga Prime, has the following lore-rich description. Caldega Prime stands in the Segmentum Ultima, a crucial Frontier World for the Imperium. Calamity struck when the Traitor Legions unleashed Chaos, sowing death and terror wherever they tread… Yet the Imperium refuses to give up its vital resources, holding its ground. Regiments of the Astra Militarum (Imperial Guard) – including Cadian and veterans of the Death Korps – battle ceaselessly, often backed by the Adeptus Mechanicus’ diligent Legiones Skitarii. Meanwhile, Space Marine Chapters deploy elite Astartes in swift strikes against the renegades, echoing Cadia’s doomed heroism in the Emperor’s name. Some fans have even gone so far as to try to recreate famous battles from the 40K history books, like the Siege of Vraks. In the lore, Vraks was a massive back-and-forth that lasted nearly two decades, with neither side willing to either back down or commit Exterminatus and destroy the whole dang planet. This Roblox game is set during the Siege, and pays close attention to the armed forces on the ground during this protracted battle. Roblox may be known as a kids’ game, but Warhammer 40K is decidedly not. This is a setting where machines are run by the brains of lobotomized criminals, civilians are regularly marched into volcanoes, and all manner of war crimes are happening basically all the time.  Despite this, it seems that fans have found a way to build tributes to the setting with a widely accessible set of tools. While we have a wealth of great, officially licensed titles to enjoy, we also have Warhammer at home. There’s something fun and charming about seeing people embrace the spirit of 40K and making their own games in the setting, telling their own stories or expanding on the galaxy’s most famous battles.

Microsoft is rolling out its controversial Recall feature to Windows Insiders
Microsoft is gradually rolling out new preview features to Windows Insiders, including Recall, which has been the target of critics' security and privacy concerns since it was announced. It was originally supposed to be a preview experience that's broadly available to all Windows 11 Copilot+ PCs when the first batch of AI-assisted devices hit the market in June last year. But Microsoft pushed back its release to ensure the feature was truly secure. It delayed the tool's rollout yet again in October 2024 to "refine the experience before previewing it with Windows Insiders." Recall lets you quickly jump back to whatever you previously had open on your screen, whether it's a web page, an image, a document, an email or a chat thread. It works by regularly taking screenshots of your activity in the background, which it then saves into a searchable database. If you want to go back to a particular task you were doing in the past, you can either browse through the screenshots in the tool's timeline and choose one or type a query in the search bar of its interface with a description of what you're looking for using natural language.  Due to the privacy and security concerns around Recall, Microsoft made it an opt-in feature. You'll have to explicitly enable it, and you'll have to verify your identity with a Windows Hello authentication method before you can access your snapshots. Further, you can delete any snapshot you want, and you can pause saving them anytime. As The Verge notes, Microsoft previously made Recall available to a smaller number of test users, but releasing it to all Insiders brings it one step closer to a wide release. This article originally appeared on Engadget at https://www.engadget.com/cybersecurity/microsoft-is-rolling-out-its-controversial-recall-feature-to-windows-insiders-130003854.html?src=rss

Steve Jobs was probably the last beloved tech leader the world will ever have—and that’s a good thing
Almost 23 years ago, an employee at Apple described Steve Jobs to me as one of the world’s few “rock star CEOs.” At the time, I didn’t understand why anyone would talk about the head of a company in that way. A rock star was an artist who defined the cultural moment and attracted a legion of rabid fans. A CEO was just a CEO, right? In my defense, I was young. I knew little about Jobs’s personal background or his impact on tech sector—this was just over a year after Apple had introduced the original iPod, and the device hadn’t yet completely taken over the world. Still, I smiled and nodded appropriately. After all, the rockstar CEO’s company had just hired me in a sales role. However, over the next five years that I worked for Apple, I came to understand what that person meant. My job at Apple was low-level and non-technical—nothing anyone would find too interesting. Yet when someone discovered that I worked for the company, their eyes lit up, and one of their first questions was, inevitably, “So, what is Steve Jobs like?” I never met Jobs personally, but I once saw him inside Caffe Macs—Apple’s employee cafeteria at 1 Infinite Loop. I recall relaying this mere fact to someone who had asked me if I met him, and to this day, I remember their reply: “Count yourself lucky. Very few people will ever be in the same room with a historical figure.” They went on to explain that listening to their iPod mini was often the best part of their day—and asked me to tell Jobs, if I ever did meet him, that they were thankful there was someone like him inventing such cool devices.   That’s when I realized that Jobs really was a rock star—revered even by complete strangers. Now, 20 years after that encounter, having witnessed how technology has infiltrated every facet of our lives in ways even he probably couldn’t have foreseen, I have come to believe Steve Jobs will likely be the last nearly universally beloved tech leader the world will ever have.  And that’s probably a good thing. The Musk Factor This realization didn’t just come out of the blue. I’d been thinking about tech CEOs a lot lately—one in particular: Elon Musk. I’ll fully admit that back in the early 2010s, I was a big fan of Musk. I admired how he was bringing electric vehicles to the masses and popularizing more climate-friendly means of transportation and energy distribution. It seemed that his products could genuinely change the world for the better.  It also struck me that he was, in my then-opinion, the most charismatic tech leader since Jobs. When he spoke, people listened. Like Jobs, he appeared to be a visionary—and that was inspiring. During the early 2010s, I was convinced that he would be the world’s next Steve Jobs—a tech luminary who would change the world just as Jobs did and, like Jobs, be nearly universally beloved for it. Boy, was I wrong.  I’ve never been in the same room as Musk, much less met him, so I won’t try to explain what has seemingly happened—why he changed so much over the past few years (or decided to reveal his true self). However, seeing furious people across the world picketing at his stores, I am certain that he will never be the next Steve Jobs. And there is no other tech CEO in the running, either. And I believe there are two main reasons for this.  Big Tech—and its role in the world—has changed For one thing, Big Tech has become fairly toxic since Steve Jobs died in 2011. Silicon Valley used to inspire the general public. Every month in the early 2000s, it seemed like some new product or service was launched that truly improved our lives. However, in the last 15 years, many people feel that Big Tech has begun to cause more harm than good For all their convenience, e-commerce giants like Amazon undermine small businesses, which can be a contributing factor in their closure. When that happens, local communities become more barren, and people struggle to pay the bills. That breeds resentment towards Big Tech—not love of their billionaire CEOs. Similarly, while social media was once touted as a democratizing force that would unite people and facilitate the sharing of ideas, it is now widely recognized to have negative implications for individuals’ mental health, serve as a breeding ground for bullying, and is today a significant way misinformation and political polarization spreads. As Pew Research noted, most people also think social media giants have too much influence in politics. Again, none of this is going to endear the CEOs of these companies to the population at large. And the latest tech revolution—artificial intelligence—isn’t generating a lot of love from the general public, either. AI is likely to eliminate millions of jobs over the next three years alone. It’s also taking the humanity out of art. No wonder a YouGov poll last year found that the majority of Americans were cautious, concerned, and skeptical of AI. If you’re the CEO of a company that works on a technology that most people are leery of, you’re not going to find a lot of universal adoration. Yet there’s another reason why today’s tech leaders will likely never achieve Jobsian status. Big Tech is now inextricably entwined with politics and power in a way it never was in Jobs’s time. Elections are fought and won on social media, wars are carried out with the help of the hardware and software Silicon Valley builds, and Big Tech is spending tens of millions of dollars a year in political contributions and lobbying efforts in an attempt to influence government policy on everything from taxes to regulations—not to mention curry favor with politicians. Politics and power are, by their very nature, divisive. And America is more polarized today by orders of magnitude than during Jobs’s early-2000’s professional prime. If you love that Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, and Mark Zuckerberg were honored guests at President Trump’s latest inauguration, you can bet that at least half the nation hates it. The Steve Jobs legacy All this is not to suggest that Steve Jobs was a saint, of course. It’s been well-documented that he could be difficult to work with and short-tempered in his pursuit of creative perfection.  He was beloved as much as he was because he operated in a world before Big Tech was viewed as a Big Villain. And, unlike many of today’s tech leaders, Jobs chose to—or could afford to—keep his politics private.  And he was beloved because nearly all of the products he helped unleash seemed to bring joy to the majority of their users, like the individual I met two decades ago who was grateful to Jobs for the simple everyday pleasure he derived from using his iPod mini. Given how the world—and Big Tech’s role in it—has changed since Jobs’s passing, I don’t believe we’ll ever have another tech leader as beloved as he was. And, again, I think that is probably a good thing.  As much of a fan as I was of Jobs, the deification of any one individual is dangerous—especially in today’s environment, where modern tech leaders already wield significant influence over the platforms we use, the narratives we encounter, and even public policy itself. But in Jobs’ time, it was much more palatable—and harmless. The person who explained to me that Steve Jobs was a historical figure is now correct. Jobs was a product of a bygone era: a beloved leader in tech.
