Best of all, it’s practically pocket change and costs less than your average Starbucks coffee. Ready to make a change? Start with your online wellbeing! Get PIA VPN at 83% Off Here PIA VPN Is Nearly Free With This Exclusive Deal The exclusive deal makes PIA’s monthly and six-month plans redundant. Obsolete, we should say. Instead, the spotlight is taken by the biennial plan with four free months and a spring discount of 83%. How much is everything? You’re looking at a shocking price of only $2.03 a month, which is a smidge under $57 for the first 28 months. Private Internet Access doesn’t have this “fake” discount, where it drops the price along with the quality. Far from that. Users still get all of the features and can enjoy this VPN’s purest technological marvel. Let’s not forget a 30-day money-back guarantee, which elegantly shields you from losing money. Don’t like it – get a refund. There’s no fluff. Unlimited Device Protection for Pennies By far the biggest incentive to get this PIA VPN discount is unlimited protection. By saying this, we refer to unlimited simultaneous connections, which practically let you connect to the VPN on as many devices as you want. However, even at this bottom-tier price, this isn’t everything you get. Private Internet Access also comes with unrestricted bandwidth, servers in 91 countries, and a certified no-logging policy. It’s one of the few VPNs whose no-log policy was proven in court, which makes it very trustworthy. Even security-wise, PIA manages to beat its pricier rivals. For example, it offers MultiHop connections to encrypt your traffic twice. It also uses MACE for ad-blocking and allows for obfuscation via the Shadowsocks proxy. Convenient tools like split tunneling, a kill switch, and the fast WireGuard protocol are all here. Not to mention unlimited streaming, P2P on all servers, and the ability to use it on a router to secure your home network. As part of the spring sale, PIA also discounted its Windows Antivirus and included 500 GB of pCloud storage for a year. Check these extras out and make this the most memorable April of your life. 100-Million-Year-Old Footprints Reveal a New Armored, Club-Tailed Dinosaur
About 100 million years ago, a previously unknown armored dinosaur wielding a clubbed tail lumbered through the Canadian Rockies. The species resembled the well-known ankylosaurus (Nodosaurid ankylosaurs) — but with two major differences. The first-ever identified footprints of this species sported only three toes (putting it into the ankylosaurid ankylosaurs category), instead of four (belonging to Tetrapodosaurus borealis). Also, the more known ankylosaurus swung its flexible tail to wield its club. The three-toes version’s tail was rigid and brandished more like a sledgehammer. The tracks, found in both Alberta and British Columbia (BC), represent the first known example of ankylosaurid ankylosaur footprints anywhere in the world, the paleontologists who located them reported in the Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology. A New Dinosaur DiscoveryVictoria Arbour, the curator of paleontology at the Royal British Columbia Museum (RBCM) estimated that the new species maxed out at about 20 feet long, was protected by an armored spiky shell, and protected itself with a stiff, rather than flexible tail club.“Ankylosaurs are my favorite group of dinosaurs to work on, so being able to identify new examples of these dinosaurs in British Columbia is really exciting for me,” Arbour said in a press release. The team dubbed the new species of this ankylosaurid ankylosaur Ruopodosaurus clava — meaning “the tumbled-down lizard with a club/mace.” The first part of the name refers to the mountainous region where it was found, while the second half describes its distinctive tail.Co-existing AnkylosaursCharles Helm, scientific advisor at the Tumbler Ridge Museum, had noted the three-toed ankylosaur trackways around Tumbler Ridge, BC, for several years and invited Arbour to help identify and interpret them in 2023. A team of other scientists contributed to the analysis. They date the tracks to the middle of the Cretaceous period, about 100 million years to 94 million years ago. Some paleontologists had speculated that, since no ankylosaurids bones had been found from that period in North America, the species had disappeared by then. The footprints contradict that narrative. The newly identified footprints also show that both types of ankylosaurs co-existed — and are giving this mountainous part of Canada a paleontological claim to fame.“Ever since two young boys discovered an ankylosaur trackway close to Tumbler Ridge in the year 2000, ankylosaurs and Tumbler Ridge have been synonymous,” Helm said in a press release. “It is really exciting to now know through this research that there are two types of ankylosaurs that called this region home, and that Ruopodosaurus has only been identified in this part of Canada.”Article SourcesOur writers at Discovermagazine.com use peer-reviewed studies and high-quality sources for our articles, and our editors review for scientific accuracy and editorial standards. Auto Focus Camera Addon
Addon to automatically focus the camera, with the unique feature of baking the scene to export and use in command-line renders or render farms. First of all, thank you to everyone who shared great tips and comments about this Blender addon! This project began as a complement to another addon I created, the Camera Controller Addon, which allows you to control the camera in real time using your smartphone. However, I was having trouble achieving automatic focus, and that’s when the development of this project started. All instructions are available on Gumroad, and I’ll soon be making some tutorials on how to use it, along with continuous improvements and new tools over time. Thank you all once again! submitted by /u/Longjumping_List_888 [link] [comments]

Sometimes a year is like one of those, it feels like everything is changing so fast that it's…
AI is now generating art as well..-RepostSometimes a year is like one of those—it feels like everything is changing so fast that it's difficult to keep up. In 2022, not only is the future knocking at the door, but also it's kicking the door down. The first three months of the year alone have established the pace of a year full of change never seen before, with AI, space exploration, and new tech transforming the world in real-time.AI Art Takes OverAs 2022 begins, AI-generated art is making waves in niche communities. Early adopters experiment with tools like OpenAI’s DALL·E 2 and MidJourney, generating stunning images from simple text prompts. At first, these images are curiosities, striking but not yet mainstream. But within weeks, the floodgates open. Social media becomes saturated with AI-created landscapes, portraits, and surreal artwork that looks like it was crafted by professional artists. The debates surrounding AI art are as heated as the artwork itself. Some view it as a revolutionary technology that opens up new possibilities for creativity. Others worry that it will cheapen conventional art or substitute human artists. Whatever side one is on, this is certain: AI art is not a far-off dream, it’s already here. The Metaverse Steps Into the SpotlightBy early 2022, the metaverse is the hottest thing in tech. Meta (previously Facebook) is investing billions of dollars in creating virtual spaces where humans can live, work, and play. Other firms race to claim territory in this virtual gold rush, with brands opening digital stores, artists playing virtual concerts, and companies holding virtual meetings. For those who wear a VR headset during these initial months, the experience is both stunning and clumsy. Moving around a virtual world, conversing with avatars in real time, and participating in events from home is like entering the future. But the technology is still rough around the edges—avatars are awkward, movement is unnatural, and the experience often lacks the richness of real-world interactions.Nevertheless, the excitement is real. Whether or not the metaverse is a flash in the pan or the future of the internet is to be determined, as of the first quarter of 2022, it cannot be avoided.SpaceX and NASA Move AheadThe beginning of 2022 represents a watershed moment in space travel. SpaceX continues its high-speed launch cadence, launching several missions into space and perfecting the technology that will someday land humans on Mars. Simultaneously, NASA gets set for its much-awaited Artemis I mission, a pivotal step in sending humans back to the Moon for the first time since 1972.Following the buildup to Artemis I is exhilarating. As each test occurs, the fantasy of exploring deep space begins to feel increasingly possible. It’s the first time in generations that the vision of humans inhabiting and functioning in space outside the Earth is not merely academic; it’s becoming tangible.AI Chatbots Take a Giant StepIn the first months of 2022, artificial intelligence isn’t just generating art; it’s starting to talk back. OpenAI’s ChatGPT, an AI-powered chatbot, gains attention for its surprisingly human-like responses. Unlike past chatbots, which struggle with complex queries, ChatGPT can hold conversations, generate stories, and even help with coding.Early adopters are amazed. An essay-writing, relationship-giving, business-idea-spurring chatbot? It sounds like something out of science fiction. And yet it's only the start.Electric Cars Pick Up Serious SteamElectric vehicles (EVs) have been gaining steam for years, but by early 2022, they are no longer a niche category; they’re becoming mainstream. Tesla still leads the way, but now legacy automakers such as Ford and GM are showing up with serious contenders. The Ford F-150 Lightning, an electric model of America’s top-selling pickup truck, is set to debut, which means EVs are no longer the province of techies; they’re for all.Meanwhile, autonomous technology is evolving. Though autonomous vehicles aren't here yet, features such as Tesla's Full Self-Driving beta suggest a world in which human drivers may become unnecessary.A Glimpse Into the Future:Taking a glance at the first quarter of 2022, it's obvious that the world is evolving at a breakneck pace. AI is revolutionising creativity and communication. The metaverse is emerging. Space exploration is speeding up. Electric vehicles are going mainstream. And that is only the start. The rest of 2022 holds even greater surprises. If the year’s first quarter is any example, the future isn’t just arriving; it’s already arrived.

Nintendo Switch controllers won’t be able to wake up Switch 2 from sleep mode
Phyre Member Jan 24, 2025 106 Apologies if this info was already widely known. You cannot exit sleep mode on Nintendo Switch 2 using the HOME Button on Nintendo Switch controllers such as Joy-Con and Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. Click to expand... Click to shrink... Transferring to Nintendo Switch 2 If you're a Nintendo Switch owner, find out how compatible games and accessories work on Nintendo Switch 2, and how to transfer over. www.nintendo.com Nice to have confirmation that controllers for Switch 1 will work on S2, but it sucks a little that you can't turn it on with the Switch 1 controller. Not a huge deal by any means but a mild inconvenience.  Mauricio_Magus Member Oct 25, 2017 15,529 I've never cared about this... like... please just stand up and press the damn button jfc. But it's nice to know. I'm also one of those guys that always turns off all his systems and basically never uses sleep mode unless I'm in the middle of something and I can't save the game or something. I have an 8bitdo controller that wakes up Switch when I shake it which I find funny more than useful. Edit: I've just realized that this could be an accessibility concern so I do feel bad for people that may struggle with that so I've changed my mind on this now because of that.  Last edited: 4 minutes ago Richietto One Winged Slayer Member Oct 25, 2017 25,726 North Carolina Not a big deal at all but I wonder why thats the case.   Lotus One Winged Slayer Member Oct 25, 2017 122,477 It was pointed out, but yea, good to have a thread on it I consider that the type of annoyance that will eventually bug the hell out of me, so guess I'm buying a new Pro controller at some point  Porygon One Winged Slayer Member Oct 25, 2017 4,609 Mexicali I'm not planning on using Switch 1 controllers on 2, but this is stupid   L Thammy Spacenoid Member Oct 25, 2017 54,410 I use 8bitdo controllers so I couldn't do this anyway.   Mattmo831 Featuring Mattmo831 from the Apple v Epic case Member Oct 26, 2020 6,361 They will if you throw it very accurately at the power button   tobes231 Prophet of Truth Member Jul 10, 2019 637 Australia Mauricio_Magus said: I've never cared about this... like... please just stand up and press the damn button jfc. Japanese man receives suspended 2-year prison sentence for selling modified Switch consoles
A Japanese man apprehended in January for modifying and selling Nintendo Switch consoles was found guilty by a Kochi District Court on April 14. He has been given three years probation on a two-year prison sentence and a fine of 500,000 yen (around $3,500 USD), making him the first person in Japan to be arrested and punished for modding and selling a Nintendo Switch. The convicted man, identified as 58-year-old transportation businessman Fumihiro Otobe, was implicated in violating Nintendo’s trademark rights for soldering modchips to secondhand Switch motherboards and peddling them online for roughly $195 USD. The modified consoles are reported to have been bundled with 27 pirated games, but it’s unclear how many devices Otobe sold before being caught. Why Otobe was charged under the Trademark Act rather than the Unfair Competition Prevention Act, a law passed in 2019 that, in part, targets the modifying and hacking of video game consoles, was not explained. Usada Pekora, one of the biggest Vtubers in the world, was recently forced to delist a stream archive under suspicions of playing a hacked Pokémon Emerald cartridge because of the potential of running afoul of the Unfair Competition Prevention Act.Otobe’s case also brings to mind Gary Bowser, a 53-year-old Canadian national who was arrested in the Dominican Republic in October 2020 for developing and selling jailbreaking devices for video game consoles, most notably the Nintendo Switch, as part of piracy group Team Xecuter. Bowser’s punishment, however, was especially harsh compared to Otobe’s: he faced three years in prison before being released in 2023 for good behavior and still owes Nintendo millions of dollars, fines that will likely be garnished from his income for the rest of his life.Nintendo thanked the various United States law enforcement agencies that assisted in Bowser’s arrest at the time of his conviction in a somewhat melodramatic press release that read, “Nintendo appreciates the hard work and tireless efforts of federal prosecutors and law enforcement agencies to curb illegal activities on a global scale that cause serious harm to Nintendo and the video game industry.” A similar victory lap-style statement has yet to be published in response to Otobe’s sentencing.See More:
