DeepSeek is hiring for an 'urgent' role in product management and design
DeepSeek said it wants people to help create the "next generation of intelligent product experience" centered on large language models. Become an Insider and start reading now. Have an account? DeepSeek is hiring for a job in product management and design. It's a major shift from the startup's focus on AI model research. The rush to hire product talent mirrors a broader trend in the US. DeepSeek, the Chinese startup that rattled the AI industry earlier this year, is hiring for a product role that illustrates the company's shift from research to commercialization. In a job notice posted Tuesday on its official WeChat account, DeepSeek said it is looking to fill a "product and design" position on its teams in Beijing and Hangzhou. The Hangzhou-based firm labeled the job notice "urgent." The company wrote that it wants people to help create the "next generation of intelligent product experience" centered on large language models.Candidates are expected to have product management experience and be proficient in product and visual design, the notice said.DeepSeek did not respond to Business Insider's request for comment.DeepSeek is also hiring a chief financial officer and chief operating officer — jobs not labeled urgent. The company is expanding its research and engineering teams, according to other listings on its WeChat account. The move marks a major shift for the company, which has been focused on fundamental AI model research. Last month, DeepSeek released an upgraded version of its open-source V3 large language model, boosting its reasoning and coding capabilities.Founded in 2023 by Chinese entrepreneur Liang Wenfeng, DeepSeek made headlines and disrupted markets in January after unveiling its low-cost reasoning model, R1. The startup claims R1 can rival top competitors like OpenAI's GPT-4 — but at a fraction of the cost.An analyst told Business Insider earlier this month that DeepSeek's latest models — especially the reasoning-focused R1 and R2 set to launch later this month or in May — mark a "significant inflection point" in China's AI ambitions."These models not only match the best-in-class performance globally, but are also open-sourced under the most permissive MIT License," said Wei Sun, the principal analyst for AI at Counterpoint Research."That changes the game," she added.Unlike flagship models in the US, which are typically closed-sourced and monetized through APIs or enterprise licensing, DeepSeek's models like R1 and V3 are free for anyone to download, modify, and integrate.DeepSeek has been quiet about the progress of its next-generation R2 model.Amid high costs and chip shortages, Chinese firms have been prioritizing AI integration and consolidation to stay competitive, an analyst told BI earlier this month.Tencent has deployed its Hunyuan model and DeepSeek R1 across its massive ecosystem, including WeChat, said Ray Wang, a Washington-based analyst who specializes in AI and US-China tech statecraft. WeChat, China's biggest social media app, is used by nearly 1.4 billion people.Baidu has also integrated DeepSeek R1 into its search engine, he said. While details about DeepSeek's hiring process are scant, Liang, the founder, has made it clear that he values creativity over experience when it comes to hiring. In a 2023 interview with Chinese tech publication 36KR, he said that "experience is not that important," even in a similar role. "Basic skills, creativity, and passion are much more important," he added."Our core technical positions are mainly filled by fresh graduates or those who have graduated one or two years ago," he said.Rise of product managersThe rush to hire product talent mirrors a broader trend in the AI world. In the US, product managers are seen as increasingly critical for some companies in the AI era, helping bridge the gap between rapidly advancing AI technology and real-world user needs."The future really does belong to product managers," Frank Fusco, a product manager turned CEO of a software company called Silicon Society, told BI in November. As AI becomes more capable of handling coding and other engineering tasks, Fusco said it's an opportunity for product managers to take on an even greater role.OpenAI is hiring seven product manager roles in its New York and San Francisco offices, and Anthropic is hiring 11 product-related roles, according to the companies' websites. However, some tech companies are revisiting their reliance on product managers. Microsoft wants to increase the number of engineers relative to product or program managers, BI's Ashley Stewart reported last month. Other companies like Airbnb and Snap have been rethinking the need for product managers. Recommended video

Bruce Logan, Hollywood VFX Artist, Dies at Age 78
Bruce Logan, an English cinematographer and effects artist on Star Wars: A New Hope and other Hollywood films, at 78 years old. In a statement to the Hollywood Reporter, Logan’s wife Mariana Campos-Logan revealed he passed on April 10 following a “short illness.” Last week, Logan’s daughter Mary eulogized him on Instagram, remembering him as “a rebel with a camera, a pioneer with a story, and my personal hero. He was a visionary cinematographer, director, and visual effects pioneer. My dad didn’t just work on movies—he made magic.” Born May 15, 1946, Logan began making animated films at 14 years old, which grew into visual effects by the time he was 19. In 2014, he credited his father Campbell, who directed several classical dramas for BBC, with teaching him how to employ a spilit-screen, his first-ever special effect. “My father told me that every frame of a film should be a perfect picture,” said Logan at the time. “He’s responsible for all my knowledge of film history and for introducing me to the films of all the great directors of the day, including Stanley Kubrick.” Funnily enough, Kubrick was the first director to give Logan his first screen credit. At 19, he was brought on as a visual effects artist for 2001: A Space Odyssey, and worked under VFX supervisor Doug Trumbull. Across his 50-year career, Logan did VFX work for Batman Forever, Airplane, and the aforementioned Star Wars, where he was part of the second unit team that filmed the explosion of the Death Star. (He’s even technically part of Blade Runner, as his work on the unreleased Zabriski Pointe appeared in the opening titles for Ridley Scott’s sci-fi film.) His cinematography career includes the first Tron and The Incredible Shrinking Woman, plus music videos for Prince and Madonna. He also briefly tried his hand at film directing with 1986’s Vendetta. Along with his wife and daughter, Logan is further survived by another child, Campbell. Want more io9 news? Cultivating the Countryside – The town of Nagiso in Nagano Prefecture, where the site is located, is a place that even Japanese people rarely hear about. Most of the land is surrounded by forest, and the area is home to the "Kiso Hinoki" brand of wood, which has become the identity of the community through the diverse traditional craft skills of its artisans, such as woodworking and hinokasa (hinoki hats). This place, which has been crowded with tourists mainly from overseas in recent years, is also the hometown of my grandparents.Save this picture! With its declining and aging population, Nagiso town is an advanced region, so to speak, and it is a microcosm of Japan's future. I felt that putting down roots in this place and continuing to work as an architect would provide a hint for the future of architecture. Therefore, we decided to purchase the land and buildings, renovate them, and plan, design, construct, and operate a hotel for rent.Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!First, in order to open the space to the rich tea plantation and mountain scenery, wooden fixed sashes were replaced. In addition, all of the characteristic atrium space was painted silver, transforming the former wooden hut into a minimalist and unique space.Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture! For the Japanese-style room, the old tatami mats were removed and replaced with "Kiso hinoki bark board," a flooring material developed jointly with Katsuno Lumber, a local forestry and lumber company in Minami-Kiso. This flooring material is a luxurious strand board that utilizes the bark of the Kiso hinoki tree.Save this picture!Save this picture!During the construction, we invited fragrance designer Megumi Fukatsu to create an original fragrance using Kiso Hinoki together with the students who were responsible for the construction. We think of architecture in terms of its component parts and design, even the interior elements that are invisible to the eye.Save this picture! The cups used in the hotel were also created using the Nagiso roroku technique to create a special piece with an original design. Through DIY and workshops, this architecture was designed not from a big plan, but as a series of small actions. The month of April was a challenging period for Bitcoin investors, when the asset fell to its lowest level (in 2025) to trade at $76,000 (roughly Rs. 64.8 lakh) owing to macroeconomic changes and the trade war between China and the US.“For now, BTC faces immediate resistance at $96,000 (roughly Rs. 81.9 lakh), while support remains at $90,500 (roughly Rs. 77.2 lakh). Glassnode data reveals a sharp rise in Whale accumulations, with wallets holding over 10,000 BTC increasing from 124,000 to 137,600 over the past month. This steady accumulation strengthens Bitcoin's upward momentum,” Edul Patel, Co-founder and CEO of Mudrex told Gadgets 360.The price of Ether fell by 0.33 percent on international exchanges, according to CoinMarketCap. As of Monday, ETH is trading at $1,792 (roughly Rs. 1.52 lakh) on global platforms. The asset followed Bitcoin to register losses on Indian exchanges. Monero and Near Protocol also saw their prices rise. The overall crypto market cap rose by 0.21 percent in the last 24 hours. The valuation of the sector presently stands at $2.95 trillion (roughly Rs. 2,51,57,146 crore), shows CoinMarketCap.“In spite of periodic market corrections, the overall sentiment is extremely bullish, driven by growing institutional demand, positive macroeconomic factors, and improving fundamentals. The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion Remastered Guide – How To Farm Gold Quickly
As with any RPG, you will be scrounging for every last bit of gold in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. Fortunately, there is a surefire method that players can use to amass gold, aside from the obvious looting of every container and chest in the game. This guide is all about farming gold quickly and efficiently in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered. Alchemy This Skill can be a major source of income especially since most ingredients can be acquired for cheap or even free by foraging, harvesting, or looting various locations in the open world. You will need a Mortar and Pestle in your inventory to begin the actual brewing process. The higher the quality of the alchemical apparatus, the better the quality and sale price of the resulting potion. Next, you will need ingredients for a potion. The simplest one to brew is the Restore Fatigue potion which requires just two ingredients, from a possible pool of 37 edible items scattered throughout the world. Novice Alocasia Fruit Aloe Vera Leaves Apple Blackberry Bread Loaf Carrot Cheese Wedge Cheese Wheel Corn Deformed Swamp Tentacle Fennel Seeds Flour Grapes Green Stain Cup Cap Ham Leek Lettuce Onion Orange Pear Potato Pumpkin Radish Rice Smoked Baliwog Leg Strawberry Sweetcake Sweetroll Tobacco Tomato Watermelon Wheat Grain Apprentice Daedra Venin Expert Letifer Orca Digestive Slime Peony Seeds Spiddal Stick Grapes and Tomatoes are readily harvestable, without being considered theft, from any of the farms around the Imperial City. Once you have amassed enough potions, make your way to the nearest merchant and dispose of your potion wares in exchange for gold. Fast travel to another location where you can then rest for a few days to speed up time, before returning to the ingredient farming location to rinse and repeat. The reason you have to leave the area is to guarantee that the crops respawn in your preferred farming spot. Be sure to put as many points into your Alchemy skill as possible each time you level up, as well as improving your Strength attribute which affects Encumbrance–the ability to carry as much as possible will spare you multiple trips to the traders. The Luck attribute also has a direct effect on the Alchemy skill score. That is the best way to farm money fast in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. Should I wait to see if Nintendo will announce more NS2 Editions before tackling my NS1 backlog?
sionydus Member Jan 2, 2021 2,717 West Coast, USA I missed out on most of the NS1 catalog. Of the big first party titles, I only played BotW and Mario Odyssey. At the very least, these are the titles I'm looking to play: Tears of the Kingdom Echoes of wisdom Metroid dread Fire emblem three houses Luigi's mansion 3 Pokémon legends Arceus Link's Awakening Remake All the Xenoblade Chronicles Super Mario RPG Metroid Prime Remastered Bayonetta 3 Any chance they're going to either patch or re-release NS2 versions these if I wait a bit? Edit: fixed the list. I put Odyssey for some reason  Last edited: Yesterday at 7:27 PM Renna Hazel Member Oct 27, 2017 13,056 Echoes of Wisdom is getting an update, so you might as well wait for that one. I'm waiting out Xeno X to see if it will.   LegendofLex Member Nov 20, 2017 6,397 The Zeldas and Mario Odyssey are all getting patched. Of those, only BotW and TotK are paid upgrades. I could see Metroid Prime getting one later. But not Dread. I'm guessing the Xenoblades will run more or less at their target resolutions and framerates (I.e. fewer to no drops) without needing a patch.  Last edited: Yesterday at 6:19 PM Mandos Member Nov 27, 2017 38,711 I don't think we'll see many more like MP4(or even the Zelda's) I'd imagine we'll get a few more that are more expanded dlcs than anything but most would be postgame?   Ryengeku Member Oct 26, 2017 6,166 California, US Three Houses would be on Koei Tecmo since it was the Warriors engine that it was essentially developed on and they did most of the work for that game. They're working on the next Zelda Warriors game so not sure how likely that'll be at the moment. The first BOTW Zelda Warriors game also needs help with its frame rate as well. Legends Arceus would be another much needed candidate for upgrades.  GDGF Member Oct 26, 2017 8,934 I just remembered that I haven't gotten Odyssey yet so definitely saving it for the patch lol   Zeal543 Next Level Seer Member May 15, 2020 7,090 Honestly don't think we'll see anymore beyond these, at least not first party   Ashes of Dreams Fallen Guardian of Unshakable Resolve Member May 22, 2020 19,333 So correct me if I'm wrong but there are four types of potential upgrades here? By virtue, if a game ran with variable frame rates on Switch 1, then running them on Switch 2 should just allow them to run at the max frame rate they were initially trying to target. Not sure if you have other stuff in your backlog to play, but the Switch 2 isn't out for nearly a month and a half anyway, and some of those games might never get patches. Totk has been confirmed, but not sure if it will benefit that much from a res/fps bump, it performs fine on Switch 1. Mario Odyssey all they could really do is bump the resolution I'd think, it already runs at 60 and I don't see them getting it to 120 so you might as well play that now. Link's Awakening and Echoes of Wisdom have their slightly jarring double buffered V sync where they bounce between 30 and 60fps which is very distracting to some people. (I got through EoW just fine tbh, didn't play LA) but the Switch 2 could fix that. Metroid Dread already runs at 60 locked I think and looks great FE3H doesn't look or run the best but I don't think they are patching that? It might not be a priority for them. I, at least, can deal with the spotty performance with it being turn based. LM3 already looks really nice on Switch. A 60fps bump could be nice but I don't think they have announced it? Pokemon Legend Arceus probably won't get a patch being a few entries behind at this point Some people are not happy with the image quality of the Xenoblade games (I think they look fine) but I don't think they have announced a patch for them and seems a bit unlikely they'd do all of them? Mario RPG is mostly fine, the frame rate is a little iffy which the switch 2 could fix even without a patch (it targets 60fps with drops) but drops aren't the worst thing in a game like this And Metroid prime remastered looks and runs amazing already, it is 900p so a res bump could be nice but it seems a little unlikely  Qikz Member Oct 25, 2017 13,693 TaySan said: I honestly doubt we are going to get much more beyond launch window. I do suspect thier late spring/summer direct in place of E3 is going to be quite huge and drop at least one more game for this year.  Windrunner Sly Member Oct 25, 2017 7,641 Will riot if Astral Chain and Bayo 3 don't get updates.   OP OP sionydus Member Jan 2, 2021 2,717 West Coast, USA Windrunner said: Will riot if Astral Chain and Bayo 3 don't get updates. We really don't know much about the performance boosts for Switch 1 titles yet though. Have to imagine something like Xenoblade Chronicles X will get something given the profile was in the game to do so, but who knows if that'll be a free Switch 1 patch or one of their payed tiers.   frosted-flakes Member Apr 6, 2022 578 I wonder if we'll see more $10 upgrades. It seems to me like they knew they could charge for an upgrade but established upgrades are feee. They didn't wanna create new content for the full $20 switch 2 edition, so they slapped some shit together and priced it lower.   Richietto One Winged Slayer Member Oct 25, 2017 25,843 North Carolina frosted-flakes said: I wonder if we'll see more $10 upgrades. I'm sure we'll see a few more but I actually don't think we will see all that many. The fact that only 5 games are getting payed upgrades at launch, and only 2 are getting new content for the $20 upgrade and those 2 titles are Mario Party and Kirby while also knowing a broad list of other titles getting free upgrades tells me they are likely being very particular about what to charge for. Any cross gen titles that could make use of the Switch 2 power might have a $10 upgrade but outside of that the list might get really slim for Switch 1 titles if the free upgrades are broad and substantial enough.   Liam Allen-Miller Member Nov 2, 2017 7,903 Shibuya Dekuman said: Do we have comfirmation the 'free' patches specifically address pefromance and isn't for intergration of the 'C' button? Please don't let it be so. Click to expand... Click to shrink... Completely different situation because those games weren't playable on Switch at all and might have been lost to time on WiiU. These games ARE playable on Switch 2, the re-releases just give them better performance, visuals and sometimes new content. Also like has been already said, a lot of switch 1 games had variable frame rates and resolutions, and those games should just run and look better right out of the box  JigglesBunny Prophet of Truth Avenger Oct 27, 2017 35,821 Chicago Not directly related to your list OP, but it's nuts Wonder doesn't have an upgrade ready for launch. 4K, 60 FPS and 1440p, 120 FPS with HDR is such a no brainer that it's genuinely confounding it isn't happening already.   Solobbos ▲ Legend ▲ Member Oct 27, 2017 2,072 Right now I'm interested in Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door and Mario & Rabbids: Sparks of Hope. I think that maybe they didn't want to talk too much about backwards compatibility during the Direct. Maybe we get more news leading up to release about all the games getting updated. (They could also be making dlc for Mario Wonder and make us pay for the upgrade 😩😩😩😩😩)  Transistor This isn't going to go the way you think Administrator Oct 25, 2017 41,315 Washington, D.C. It's frustrating, but I understand if stuff like Astral Chain and TMS#FE don't get upgrades since those weren't big sellers, but Xenoblade is an entire series that's been growing in popularity over time.   Flame Lord Member Oct 26, 2017 3,623 It's a good question. I have numerous games I've waited years to play, and now I might be waiting longer for an improved SW2 version. I'm thinking big sellers, games with generally large appeal will probably get them, like Zelda, Mario, Smash etc., but smaller ones might get simple updates, and ones that have successors coming soon (like MK8) probably won't get anything. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Is Already a Million Seller
Menu Home News Hardware Gaming Mobile Finance Deals Reviews How To Wccftech Gaming Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Is Already a Million Seller Alessio Palumbo • Apr 28, 2025 at 04:00am EDT Sandfall Interactive proudly announced an important sales milestone for its debut game, the turn-based RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The game sold over half a million units in the first day alone, and after three days, it has become a million-seller. This is particularly relevant because it's in addition to the game being available on Game Pass, which undoubtedly reduces full-game sales on PC and Xbox. Given that this is not a triple-A budget game, it's possible that the game could be close to breaking even. Critic and user reviews so far are also excellent, with many already pitching Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 as a potential Game of the Year candidate. Indeed, from the very announcement, the game immediately looked exciting. The blend of a fantasy setting inspired by Belle Époque France with the plot twist of a seemingly all-powerful being condemning an entire year class to death was powerful. Similarly, on the gameplay side, the game mixes classic turn-based JRPG action with real-time elements powered by Quick-Time events for dodges and parries, for example. There are also renowned actors and voice actors such as Andy Serkis, Charlie Cox, Ben Starr, and Jennifer English leading their performances to the cast of main characters. The Unreal Engine 5 powered game has relatively low system requirements, but those who don't meet them can play it anyway via NVIDIA's GeForce NOW cloud platform. NVIDIA DLSS Super Resolution is natively supported, while Frame Generation is only available via a PureDark mod released exclusively to the modder's Patreon subscribers. Wccftech only got access to the game on launch day, so our review is still being worked on and will come later this week.
