Excellent OT, looks so good.
Not going to get to play this for another week, my copy isn't arriving until I'm out of the country. Will be getting stuck in right away then tho, I've been waiting a long while to replay these.

This sounds like it's gonna be an incredible remaster. There're a lot of great games coming out soon, though, so I might end up waiting to jump into this when it's on sale.
Any idea as to which version(s) of the games these remastered versions' difficulty levels are based on?

It appears that Lunar 1 has been reverted to the lower JP PSX difficulty, which WD had raised for the English release, while Lunar 2 is unchanged.

With this OT I just learned you can switch between remaster mode and OG mode. That's great.

Still a bit worried about the physical release's availability (since it's basically "Trust us bro" from GungHo so far), but happy for the release either way.
I was planning on an Eternal Blue replay this year, so I might just do that, but it feels kinda wrong to skip the original, lol. But I think I've played it like 6+ times at this point. Maybe I can just zip through it real quick...

Some of the gameplay is a bit old fashioned but the games are really good.
If I had the time I would be buying this and replaying it on the Switch.
I loved them on PS1 back in the day.

I grew up on NES/SNES/PSX, so that appeals to me.

As a heads up, for Canada VGP is the exclusive retailer. Unfortunately, they only ship to Canada for this release, since Amazon got the exclusive rights to the US release (I buy all my games from them whenever possible).

Very excited for this. I've never played the original game. And it's been close to 25 years since I played Eternal Blue (AND I think I got stuck on the final boss and never finished).

being broke, to being semi-broke.
I originally played this series on the PS1 because I had a massive crush on Jessica but found out there was a good but hard ass game in there. Going to grab for my Deck once I get some free time to play it and relive some of my teen years.

The vocal music, pop culture references, and fan servicey "bromides" in SSSC were all really cringey to me back in the day but there's a really good game there if you can look past all that.
Haven't had a chance to play Eternal Blue.
I really liked the GBA version of Silver Star - I think it was called "Lunar Legend"? Would have been cool if they included that version here.
$50's pretty steep but I'll put this on my watch list in hopes of a sale at some point.

Good to hear. I can't remember what Working Designs had changed in the first game but recall it largely having been considered for the worse. Wasn't there some sort of shrine or something in the English version that (maybe by accident) gave you free and unlimited money or something, though? I almost wouldn't mind that being left in, even if it was unintentional. Haha.

Really looking forward to this. I grabbed Lunar 1 with my graduation money from high school in 99, without knowing anything about it. I just saw the nice box art with the release and grabbed it. I was an instant fan. Grabbed Lunar 2 when it released as well. I go back to Lunar 2 at least one a year or so. Such a good game.

So weird how some people in Europe like me have received our EU copies almost a week before release. Still don't know why the shops sent it so soon but I'm not complaining. Haven't gotten to playing the game yet because I'm busy with Suikoden 1 but looking forward to jumping in.

Could be due to Easter, I'm guessing. I received mine on Friday, a whole week before release, but I was away all weekend and will be prioritising other games for the next couple of weeks so I haven't had a chance to boot it up yet.

I've only played Lunar Legend on the GBA and absolutely loved it, so I'm really excited to play both games in this collection!

That could be the reason but still kind of weird imo. Oh well, I'm happy we both got physical copies at least : )

For anyone wanting the Physical in the US.
I would suggest following LbabinzUS, Wario64, or CheapAssGamer on Twitter or Bluesky.
That's going to be your best bet for seeing when the pre-orders go live asap.
I will say, the stock amount might not be TOO bad. As Fantasian is a US Amazon Exclusive, and they have kept printint copies of that thus far.
So likely, they might even let you order and just fulfill it later if it does sell out (As that happened to Fantasian for a moment)

roughly guessing from my playthroughs a few years back...
1st one should be about 20-25hrs
2nd should be about 45+ish
It will have an epilogue with extra dungeons and the true ending

These games are very special to me. Dare I say I liked them more than any of the SNES JRPG output from the era, and I loved that too. Can't wait to play these on Switch!

Anyone know how to set up alerts for Wario64 mentioning "Lunar" in bsky? Or do I just have to keep manually refreshing

No. As far as I'm aware, they did not license the original VA work.

I am still sad that there never was a proper Lunar 3. I will gladly replay these games on my Steam Deck OLED… I forgot almost everything. Getting old also has its perks… you can rewatch and replay classic movies and games like it's the first time if you wait long enough lol

Even with having the PS1 versions, I am admittedly tempted to double-dip for the sake of it. May hold out for the PC version modding in the old dubs though, would've been more inclined to consider physical copies if they were anywhere near as nice as what both games got back with the PS1 WD releases.

Worth mentioning there should be no issues for getting an Xbox physical. Only 3 known Xbox collectors in the world, and one of them is Jaw :p
Also, Fantasian is definitely a smaller scale release, the difference is its Square Enix vs. GungHo who doesn't have a good track record, let alone much of a track record.
