Google has been rumoured to be developing a new dedicated first-party desktop mode for Android phones and tablets for years now, and it may be closer to launch than ever before. As per a new leak, the feature, dubbed Android Desktop Mode, was previously expected to arrive with Android 16 this year but may now see its release with Android 17. It is speculated to offer capabilities similar to Samsung DeX and Motorola Connect, enabling users to resize windows and quickly transition between a mobile and desktop interface.Android Desktop Mode LaunchTipster Mishaal Rahman revealed details about the Android Desktop Mode in a recent livestream on X (formerly Twitter). The new desktop experience may enable users to take advantage of larger screens via their phone. When the phone, specifically a Pixel, is connected to an external display such as a laptop via USB Type-C, it could offer a desktop-style interface.The Android Desktop Mode is said to offer multitasking capabilities with the ability to resize windows and move them around. Further, there may also be staple desktop-like features, such as an app management system, the ability to transition between mobile and desktop interface, and other navigation elements.Previously, this new desktop experience was said to arrive with Android 16. The latest Android 16 beta update even added a new developer option dubbed “Enable desktop experience features". When enabled, the feature displayed the familiar Android taskbar, three-button navigation access, and other options when a Pixel running the aforementioned beta was connected to a laptop.However, its release might be delayed. As per Rahman, Google needs more time to polish the user interface of the feature and thus, it may not arrive with Android 16. Instead, the feature is now speculated to debut with Android 17 on the next-generation of Pixel phones. Previous reports suggest that the desktop mode may also include a taskbar with pinned apps like Phone, Messages, Camera, Chrome, as well as the app drawer. Further, it could also display recent apps. With NetherRealm Studios releasing Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition, it’s all but a given that support for the fighting game has ended about 20 months after launch. The response from fans isn’t the best, especially since creator Ed Boon promised long-term support, but there’s also curiosity about what’s next. Despite WB Games announcing its focus on tentpole franchises like Mortal Kombat in 2024, a sequel to Injustice may be on the docket instead. MultiverSusie, known for MultiVersus leaks before the title’s shutdown was announced, tweeted, “MultiVersus shutting down is an injustice, then doing it all again is another injustice. Leaving me without any leaks is yet again another injustice.” They would then follow up with another tweet stating, “3.” Putting 2 and 2 – or, in this case, 2 and 1 – together seemingly points to a new Injustice. This is far from hard confirmation, and NetherRealm hasn’t officially announced plans to return to the DC-centric fighter. Intel Provides Live Demo of Next-Gen 18A-Powered Panther Lake CPUs, Early Silicon Specs & Launch Scheduled For Early 2026 Intel has been providing updates on its Panther Lake CPUs for a while. It will be the lead client product based on the 18A process technology and feature various upgrades over Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake. As we have said before, Panther Lake combines the best of Lunar Lake (Power Efficiency) and the best of Arrow Lake (High-Performance Core Design) on the same silicon. In addition to offering new CPU core technologies, the Panther Lake CPUs also integrate faster GPU and NPU capabilities with Xe3 "Celestial". Finally, consumers can expect broader scalability with consumer, gaming and commercial products packing LP5 & DDR5 support. Intel's Panther Lake CPUs are on track for production in the second half of 2025, with a consumer-ready launch with OEMs starting in early 2026. 2 of 9 At Computex, Intel displayed the actual Panther Lake silicon, which features a total of five tiles. The Compute Tile takes up the majority of the space and features Cougar Cove P-Cores and Darkmont E-Cores. The Panther Lake "Core Ultra 300" family is going to include three SKUs which will be derived into various products. Then there's the GPU, SOC and IO Tile along with the smaller filler tile. The Blue Team also showcased various laptops running Panther Lake CPUs. Both the laptops and the CPUs featured within these laptops are early engineering samples and were used for certain demos. Compared to Lunar Lake, Panther Lake's AI performance is much faster, and that much is something that we can expect since ex-CEO Pat Gelsinger stated that the new chips would offer 2x the AI uplift. An RVP and a development kit, similar to the ones we saw for Lunar Lake last year, were also on display. The RVP featured an array of LPDDR5x memory chips and a copper heatsink. The CPU was actively cooled. 2 of 9 We also got a sneak peek at some of the specs that we can expect from Intel's Panther Lake CPUs. The CPU featured 16 cores and 16 threads, which confirms that SMT support is not available on Panther Lake, just like the existing offerings. We don't know the exact core configuration or the P/E/LPE core arrangement, but it should be a higher-end SKU. The base speed is listed at 2.0 GHz, and we saw the chip running around 3 GHz. Do keep in mind that this is still very early silicon, and we can expect final clocks in the 5 GHz+ range. Depuis quelques mois, il est fréquent que des robots appellent des particuliers à la place d’humains, pour faire du démarchage téléphonique. Même si ces « voice bots » vendus par des start-up d’intelligence artificielle (IA) sont encore peu répandus dans les entreprises, selon le dernier baromètre annuel réalisé par EY pour le syndicat des professionnels des centres de contact (SP2C), le secteur, qui emploie 290 000 personnes (dont 55 000 dans les entreprises spécialisées), a vu une « accélération généralisée du recours aux technologies basées sur l’intelligence artificielle » en 2023 et 2024. Après la numérisation, qui a permis de déléguer une partie des tâches au client (modifier une réservation, trouver la réponse à une question par le biais d’un chatbot), puis les délocalisations, l’IA s’ajoute à une double tendance négative. « Depuis dix-huit mois, il y a un gel des recrutements, car les employeurs prévoient une baisse des demandes clients, décrit Caroline Adam, déléguée générale du SP2C. On a aussi une IAG qui propose des brouillons de réponse à des questions posées par des clients par e-mail. » « Peur en Bourse » Chez Konecta, qui prône un modèle hybride entre humain et machine, une IA reformule les mails trop longs des clients, et propose même de les rendre moins agressifs.
