PSN downtime compensation criticised by PlayStation fans without PS Plus who were still unable to play gamesShort changed.Image credit: Sony News by Tom Phillips Editor-in-Chief Published on Feb. 10, 2025 PlayStation owners impacted by this weekend's major PSN outage have criticised Sony's apology offer, as well as the lack of explanation on what went wrong. The latest period of PSN downtime lasted nearly 24 hours, beginning early Friday evening here in the UK. When the service did return, Sony apologised and blamed a vague "operational issue" as the cause.Compensation for the outage amounts to five additional days for anyone with a PS Plus subscription, but nothing for others who were also locked out of playing digital games. Xbox Developer Direct - four promising games also coming to PlayStation.Watch on YouTubeNot all online games require PS Plus, of course - including free-to-play behemoths like Fortnite and Roblox - and access to these was also unavailable."Everything was down," one impacted user wrote on ResetEra. "People that game share (like me) were locked out of their entire digital library, including offline games. You didn't need PS Plus to be affected.""I don't have PS Plus but still couldn't play the games I wanted to," opined another impacted user on reddit. "Guess I'm a f***ing second class citizen."Eurogamer has contacted Sony to ask if the company plans any other form of compensation, and to ask again about the cause of this weekend's outage. PlayStation fans have been left in the dark about the root cause of the downtime - and what steps Sony is now taking to ensure it is not repeated again anytime soon.

  • Konamis new Metal Gear Solid Delta release date hides amazing nod for hardcore fans
    www.videogamer.com
You can trust VideoGamer. Our team of gaming experts spend hours testing and reviewing the latest games, to ensure you're reading the most comprehensive guide possible. Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games here Contents hide Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater finally has a release date. In what has seemed an age for MGS fans, Konami finally revealed the upcoming remake will be arriving on August 28, 2025. However, it hasnt taken long to understand why, potentially, the company has decided on that date. After missing Snake Eaters anniversary last year, the upcoming remake is targeting a new date that only fans will truly recognise. Is it on purpose? Who knows? But its pretty cool nonetheless. It turns out the Operation Snake Eater mission, which was kicked off after the disasterous Virtuous Mission, kicked off on August 30. Going back in time, using my trust calendar, we can see that August 30th 1964 actually landed on a Sunday, which would mean August 28th would have been in the same week. Save Up to $1,200 on the Samsung Galaxy S25! Pre-order now and save big with trade-in and Samsung credit. Limited time only! *Includes trade-in value + $300 Samsung credit. Of course, no company ever releases games on a weekend, and barely any release on Friday. However, Konami has targeted the closest possible release date to the actual Operation Snake Eater for the upcoming remake which is fun for fans. Now, whether Konami meant to do this or not remains to be seen, but its certainly an incredible coincidence that theyve chosen the week that Snake Eater began as the week to launch the new game. We may have waited a while for a release date, but the latest Delta trailer certainly did not disappoint. Blending plenty of gameplay with remastered cutscenes, we finally got a good look at The COBRA unit, which as expected, stayed true to the original Kojima designs. Must-Listen: Publishing Manor Lords w/ Joe Robinson VideoGamer Podcast Listen Now We also got to see the Unreal Engine 5 flex its muscle a bit more with plenty of explosions and in-game action, compared to the more docile parts players have seen during the demo segments. With brand-new controls turning Snake more into Rambo, this could be a sign of the games slight turn towards an action focus. While all eyes are on the release date, there is some hope that a demo of sorts will be available for those unfamiliar to try the game. Plus, speaking as a MGS fan, it would certainly tide us over until the game comes out. For those new to Delta, Konami has reworked the entire of Kojimas original 2004 masterpiece, albeit with a few tweaks. Youll be able to choose from the traditional, over-head camera, or opt for the newer 3rd-person view more akin to The Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes. Add the mix a hyper-realistic damage and go system, not to mention improved enemy AI, and you have all the ingredients for a very special tribute to one of the greatest games ever made.Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake EaterPlatform(s):PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series S/X, Xbox Series XGenre(s):Third PersonRelated TopicsMetal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Subscribe to our newsletters!By subscribing, you agree to our Privacy Policy and may receive occasional deal communications; you can unsubscribe anytime.Share

  • Thinking about going back to play Okami on the Wii ahead of its sequel? Maybe reconsider, as its creator explicitly doesn't want you to
    www.vg247.com
Pick AgainThinking about going back to play Okami on the Wii ahead of its sequel? Maybe reconsider, as its creator explicitly doesn't want you to"Personally, I dont want you to play the Wii version."Image credit: Capcom News by Oisin Kuhnke Contributor Published on Feb. 10, 2025 If you've been looking at your Nintendo Wii copy of Okami following its sequel announcement, you might want to put it down if you like Hideki Kamiya. To the surprise and delight of Okami fans everywhere, a sequel was announced at last year's Game Awards, with creator Hideki Kamiya back at the helm at his new studio Clovers. This was a pretty big deal for fans everywhere, given that the game has never received a proper sequel (Okamiden is more of a spiritual successor, and Kamiya wasn't involved), though it did receive a port to the Wii in 2008. That version was obviously unique because you could use the Wiimote to paint in the game, one of the game's central mechanics, a fun and obvious choice to make for a console like the Wii. You might even own that copy, but you might want to think twice about playing it that way, as Kamiya has shared that he actually doesn't want you to.To see this content please enable targeting cookies. A follower of Kamiya's on Twitter shared that they'd recently started playing Okami on PC, but wondered if they should play the original Wii version instead, but the game developer quite simply responded (translations via VGC), "The Wii version is not the original. I made the PS2 version. If youre going to play it now, the best version is the HD version. Personally, I dont want you to play the Wii version." Kamiya is obviously known for his strong personality, so he's never been shy about hiding what he really thinks. To see this content please enable targeting cookies. One odd thing to note about the Wii version is that you can actually see IGN's logo at the time watermarked on it very faintly, and while I doubt this is the reason Kamiya doesn't want you to play it, it is still incredibly funny that this actually made it to release without anyone noticing. The as-of-yet untitled Okami sequel doesn't have a release date just yet, there's not even a lick of gameplay, so for now maybe you should just replay the original (just not on the Wii).

  • Thunderbolts finally teases its villain in its latest trailer, though you probably won't need a PhD to figure out who it is
    www.vg247.com
Here Comes SentryThunderbolts finally teases its villain in its latest trailer, though you probably won't need a PhD to figure out who it isThough you might have to read some comic books.Image credit: Marvel Studios News by Oisin Kuhnke Contributor Published on Feb. 10, 2025 It was the Super Bowl this Sunday, so Marvel paid the big bucks to get a new trailer out for the upcoming Thunderbolts movie. We're only about three months out from the release of Thunderbolts, but as of now, it's still a bit unclear what the film is actually about. There was that teaser trailer last September, but that didn't give away much, and now its latest trailer is here to show a little bit more, though not that much overall honestly. The biggest thing you'll see is a brief couple of looks for Sentry, a character that was previously reported to be making an appearance in the film played by Lewis Pullman, who you will have seen in the first trailer as "Bob", clearly meant to act as something of a red herring.Watch on YouTubeYou don't see much of the character in this new trailer, just a handful of shots of him using his superhuman abilities against the film's ragtag group of anti-heroes and random citizens, but it's obviously meant to be him, unless Marvel is setting up another red herring and introduces a completely different villain for them to face off against - that's honestly quite likely, considering the character is a hero in the comics, and has his own villain, the Void. And judging from all the shadowy stuff going on in the trailer, an appearance from the Void doesn't seem too unlikely (there are a couple of cast members who haven't had confirmed roles yet).To see this content please enable targeting cookies. An official logline for the movie explains, "Marvel Studios assembles an unconventional team of antiheroes Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), and John Walker (Wyatt Russell). After finding themselves ensnared in a death trap set by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), these disillusioned castoffs must embark on a dangerous mission that will force them to confront the darkest corners of their pasts. Will this dysfunctional group tear themselves apart, or find redemption and unite as something much more before its too late?"Again, really not much to go off of there, but you'll be able to find out more when it comes to cinemas May 2, later this year.

One such example involves Oqtons Manufacturing OS software, which is currently employed by Baker Hughes, an energy technology company, at its Houston facility. Baker Hughes uses the system to automate and optimize AM workflows as part of a broader industrialization effort. Oqton, a company specializing in AI-driven software solutions for manufacturing, has designed its system to automate key processes such as design, inspection, and certification. Implementations at Baker Hughes have resulted in notable efficiency improvements: build monitoring saw a 98% decrease in active engineering timesaving approximately 136 hours per printer each yearwhile automated reporting has reduced root cause analysis time by 98%, and real-time production alerts have led to an 18% reduction in scrap-related costs. A second instance involves Roboze, a 3D printer manufacturer that has launched SlizeR, its proprietary slicing software. SlizeR is engineered to reduce the transition time from 3D models to machine-readable code and to optimize print parameter management. The software employs a data-driven approach that automatically adjusts print settings to maintain dimensional consistency and improve part quality.
