Welcome to the channel #codelikeme . This channel is dedicated for videos on game development in unreal engine. I have some experience in game development and I am sharing everything I know with the world.
Why I do that?
Well, I like to try and implement different mechanics in games.
What's special about #codelikeme ?
I always try to develop whatever I am going to develop in the videos without special rehearsing and I don't cut and edit the recordings when things go wrong. Instead, I am showing the process of how I overcome those problems. I believe that would be a better learning experience for those who really want to learn game development.

Unreal Engine 5 Cooking Game Tutorial - Part 3 - Stove Heat Intensity Controls

This is the 3rd episode of cooking game in unreal engine tutorial series. Here, we are going to implement heat control buttons for the stove. In the control panel of the stove, there will be 2 buttons to increase anddecrease heat intensity provided in the stove and a display to show the intensity as bars. As we press + and - buttons, heat intensity will be changed and the bar display will also change accordingly.

Unreal Engine 5 Cooking Game Tutorial - Part 2 - Stove Controls as a World Space Widget

This is the 2nd episode of cooking game in unreal engine tutorial series. Here, we are going to work on control panel of the stove. The conrol panel will have a couple of buttons to turn on and control the power/intensity of the heat/flame and a simple display to show these data. This is the 36th part of the tutorial series, where we are going to implement a Real Time Strategy game using Unreal Engine and C++. Today we are going to work on how to show the health bar of the character when player hover cursor over the characters in the game. We have already implemented a gameplay message that is broadcasted when player hover over a pawn and the HUD is listening to that message using gameplay messaging system. This event will be used to detect what character the player is currently hovering over and that event will be used to show the healthbar.

Unreal Engine Unlock Door System With Key Code Using Key Pad

Here is a demonstration of the intel and unlock doors with keycode mechanism implemented as a part of shooter project. Here, we will create a UI widget for the keypad and when player goes to a locked door and press E, the Keypad UI will appear and player will be able to insert a key code. If the entered code is correct, door will unlock and open. Otherwise, it will say "CODE ERROR". We have already implemented an intel reading system which can be used to give player the key code as an intel document player can read.

This is the 5th part of the rappel system in Unreal Engine 5 tutorial. In this system, we can place objects in the level that represent rappel points and player can attach a rope/rappel onto these points and climb up or rappel down along vertical walls. When rappel up, once player reach the top of a wall and if up/forward movement input is pressed, the character will climb up the wall and stand up. If player reach the bottom of the wall, or any time at the middle, player can release the rope and fall on the ground.
In this episode, we will work on how to move to sides on the wall while hanging on the rope. So, player will be able to travers horizontally for a limited distance while on rope.

Today we are going to implement a rappel system in Unreal Engine 5. In this system, we can place objects in the level that represent rappel points and player can attach a rope/rappel onto these points and climb up or rappel down along vertical walls. When rappel up, once player reach the top of a wall and if up/forward movement input is pressed, the character will climb up the wall and stand up. If player reach the bottom of the wall, or any time at the middle, player can release the rope and fall on the ground.

Today we are going to work on how to revert the cost of buildings when the construction is cancelled. Earlier we implemented a way to deduct resource requirements such as wood from the resource attributes set. But if the building placement was cancelled due to some reason, we would need to cancel the cost and add the resource cost back to total resource count.

Today we are going to work on how resources are spent to construct buildings. Each building will have an associated build cost and when player try to construct a new building, game will check if there is enough resources to build it. If yes, building will be allowed and the required amount of resources will be deducted from the total resource count. Game will have 4 resource typesand the build cost can be from multiple type of resources. Resource counters will be handled through gameplay attribute sets.

In this tutorial, I am going to show you how to use the gameplay messaging subsystem that comes as a part of Lyra Project. Here I will show you how to export the plugin from lyra and integrate into your own project. Then you will be able to use it to broadcast and listen to gameplay messages. The significance of this system is, usually if we need to setup an event that other actors/classes can subscribe/bind, we will be using event delegates. But we would need a hard reference to the class that defines the delegate. Gameplay messaging system eliminates this requirement for hard reference. Messages are identified with gameplay tags and any class can broadcast and any class can listen to the messages and fire events upon receiving the message.
You can consider this as the 30th part of the Real Time Strategy game using Unreal Engine and C++ tutorial series as we are going to utilize the gameplay messaging system in this project.
