Shared via IGN, Microsoft and developer Obsidian Entertainment have released close to a dozen minutes of gameplay footage. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD Could Still Come to Switch 2, Nintendo Suggests
When Nintendo Switch 2 launches this June, it will accompany the long-requested addition of GameCube games to Nintendo Switch Online’s growing library of legacy titles. Three titles will be available on day one to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers on the console, including The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker- though for those concerned, the GameCube original making its way to the Switch 2 doesn’t mean its 2013 Wii U remaster couldn’t be ported to the console as well.  That’s as reportedly per Nate Bihldorff, who is senior vice president of product development at Nintendo of America. Speaking during a recent episode of Kinda Funny Games Daily, Kinda Funny’s daily news podcast, Tim Gettys stated that Bihldorff told him at a recent Switch 2 press event that The Wind Waker HD’s release for the Switch 2 is still very much “on the table.” “I did ask if having The Wind Waker on Nintendo Switch Online precludes it from the Switch 2 getting the actual Wii U port at some point, and he was very quick to say ‘no, all options are on the table,'” Gettys said (via VGC). In addition to The Wind Waker, Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack’s GameCube launch will also bring F-Zero GX and Soulcalibur 2. Several others will arrive down the line, including the likes of Pokemon Colosseum, Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness, Luigi’s Mansion, and others.

PlayStation Portal’s Cloud Streaming Beta Now Allows Game Capture, Pausing
News PlayStation Portal’s Cloud Streaming Beta Now Allows Game Capture, Pausing PlayStation Portal users now also have access to UI and UX improvements, including the ability to sort their Cloud Streaming games. Posted By Joelle Daniels | On 09th, Apr. 2025 Sony has released a new firmware update for the PlayStation Portal. With the update, Sony is bringing in improvements to the system’s Cloud Streaming Beta technology, as well as other, more general user experience improvements across the board. One of the bigger new features is the ability for players to sort the games in their Cloud Streaming catalogue screen. Among the sorting methods available are “Recently Added to PS Plus”, Release Date, and Alphabetical. The update will now also allow PlayStation Portal users to capture gameplay during a Cloud Streaming session. Much like the PS5, the gameplay capture options on the PlayStation Portal make use of the device’s Share button. Pressing it once opens up the create menu. Pressing and holding takes a screenshot, while pressing it twice starts or finishes recording a video clip. Any screenshots and videos captured through this will automatically be uploaded to the cloud server, which can then be accessed through the PlayStation App. Captures are stored for 14 days. If PlayStation’s cloud streaming servers are full, the PlayStation Portal now allows players to join a waiting list. This also lets the player know what the estimated waiting time will be, and the waiting list will automatically start the game when it becomes available. Cloud Streaming users can now also pause their game during a session. This is done by opening up the PS Portal quick menu by hitting the PS button. A game can also be suspended by putting the PS Portal into rest mode. However, a streaming session will be disconnected if the PS Portal is in rest mode for more than 15 seconds with a game suspended. In order to further help players manage their time during Cloud Streaming, the PS Portal will also display a notification in case the player has been inactive in the game for long enough that the session is close to being ended automatically. Ultimately, there is also a new feedback screen where PS Portal users trying out the Cloud Streaming beta can submit their feedback for Sony. “Thanks to the support and feedback from our player as we continue to add new features to further enhance the PS Portal experience, including support for select public Wi-Fi networks, which we launched last year,” wrote Sony Interactive Entertainment’s VP of Product Management Shuzo Kikuchi on the PlayStation Blog. “We hope you enjoy the new beta features – your feedback is essential for us to evolve the streaming game experience even further, and we look forward to hearing what you think!” The PlayStation Portal kicked off its Cloud Streaming Beta back in November 2024. The beta, available specifically to PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers, features a library of more than 120 PS5 games from across the PlayStation Plus catalogue. This includes major releases like Monster Hunter Rise, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, and Ghost of Tsushima. The device is currently capable of streaming games at up to 1080p and 60 frames per seconds. It is also capable of making use of all DualSense features of the PlayStation Portal even when streaming games. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Might Be 2025’s Most Ambitious RPG
Unshakeable confidence does newly blossomed Montpelier-headquartered studio Sandfall Interactive exhibit in their first project. Barely half a decade old, the company – led by CEO and creative director Guillaume Broche, a passionate gamer formerly employed at another game developer – has amassed a thirty-strong team, and their upcoming RPG-adjacent adventure Clair Obscur: Expedition’s presentation is bracing, intriguing, and damn-near faultless. Graphical prowess isn’t the source of the studio’s confidence though. Sure, Clair Obscur looks incredible, but Broche and his team – wearing influence from Soulslikes, out of FromSoftware’s oeuvre like Sekiro – are certain they’ve crafted a distinct combat experience. Narrative, character-driven action is Expedition’s beating heart, but it’s battling is its body’s nourishment: vibrant, free-flowing, energising. It was during Broche’s previous experience when he conjured up the ideas comprising Clair Obscur’s narrative framework. Expedition focuses on a populace desperate to halt their eradication by enemies whose cruelty looms oppressively in view of prosperous citadel Lumiere. The stage is set for some bitter skirmishes, experienced through the eyes of oppressed protagonists. Once you get into it, you’ll quickly discover there’s an RPG heritage imbuing Clair Obscur’s combat. It’s turn-based in nature, so anyone who’s dabbled in RPGs will be rightly familiar in the ebb and flow of Expedition’s fighting. There are, however, extra elements which reframe Clair Obscur’s combat with asymmetrical lightness of touch. Real-time actions which add distinct flavour. Amongst these are defence minded dodges, parries, and jumps to evade enemy attacks, each executed via time-based button presses. Especially precise dodges and parries result in perfect variations, gifting chance to unload potentially damaging counterattacks. Better still, if you successfully parry an attack aimed at your entire party, the whole squad will retaliate with an awe-striking, choreographed counter. Visual spectacle and ultra-high damage. There is risk versus reward in parrying versus dodging, of course, with the risk heightened by numerous tough enemies who manoeuvre unpredictably to attack in off-kilter patterns. You’ll have to study their moves, ala FromSoft, in order to successfully deflect or evade every landing blow. Even on normal difficulty, the window for precise response is tight, so it’ll take some practice to truly get into the groove. The combat’s real-time swagger continues with a free-aim ability which can be used not unlike Horizon’s Aloy to shoot enemy weak points, wipe off chunks of their health, or immobilise or eradicate opponents altogether. There’s depth to the combat’s turn based flipside too, with each character in your party capable of melee attacks in addition to the free-aimed range attacks. However, crucially, your characters need to amass Action Points if they’re to use their ranged ability, and landing blows is the best way to do this. Action Points themselves, according to Sandfall Interactive co-founder François Meurisse in conversation with GamesRadar at Games Developer Conference, are a further point of differentiation between Clair Obscur: Expedition and other RPGs. Meurisse explains that the idea is that the players accumulate points to put towards skills rather than more established magic or mana points in other games of the genre. These skills are distinct to each character’s arsenal too and rely on building a specific attribute (also unique to each character). Grizzled expedition leader Gustave uses his skills to fill an Overcharge meter which he can spend to unleash a devastatingly powerful attack. Mage-like Lune wields elemental attacks which leave Stains upon her enemies, the effects of these consumed by subsequent attacks to boost damage alongside other effects. From these two characters alone and this brief explanation of their skillset we can see already the kind of over-powered synergies players can concoct between party members. Lune leaves a stain; Gustave unloads an overcharged attack. We haven’t even mentioned the youngest of the trio Maelle, who joins the party later. Her skillset – when built over subsequent turns – seems especially potent. See, she has three stances which she can freely switch between: an offensive stance to boost damage at the cost of defence, a mirror image defensive stance to increase resilience for a reduction in attacking power. Her piece-de-resistance however is her Virtuose stance which, should an opponent’s defences be whittled down enough or should one of Lune’s stains leave them elementally weakened, can eliminate them in a spectacular attack dealing 200% more damage. There will be plenty of unlockable abilities for each character too which should provide a host of imaginative, and thoroughly gratifying, ways to take down enemies the deeper the expedition goes. The characters you’ll command throughout Expedition are complex, emotionally nuanced, damaged, yet relatable. They exist in a world where their population is slowly being whittled down to zero. Gustave, for one, has had to suffer the recent trauma of seeing his 34-year-old love interest die. In fact, during Clair Obscur’s demo Gustave happens upon the bodies of his fellow expeditioners, with his anguish bubbling just beneath the surface spilling into an act of desperation and desire for suicide. It’s Lune who stops him, her being the more pragmatic of the pair, essentially making clear that their mission will likely see them both dead before its culmination and that should either one of them die, they’re duty bound to continue regardless. The pair spend much of their time together quarrelling, both unable to see each other’s point of view, equally valid they both are. However, within the emotionally charged script are lighter moments. Shared laughter, banal conversation, that sort of thing, the more laidback moments examples that these characters deeply care about each other’s survival, alongside providing the perfect counterpoint to heavier moments of desperation and fear, emotions that make up the bulk of the character’s journey. It’s another refreshing distinction in Clair Obscur’s favour in that these characters are written and performed with emotional gravitas. Too often in JRPGs characters act like foolish people and often make silly mistakes that are not to be expected from them. Expedition’s participants are adults’ scorn by generations of loss, dwindling hope, and trauma, and this is reflected in their actions and behaviours. So, we’re assuming Clair Obscur will deliver mature characters and will avoid the one dimensional route that so many games follow these days. Topping off the superb action and wonderfully composed characters is a vibrant, thoroughly imaginative world in which the game takes place. Levels here meld high-art fantasy with the phantasmagorical, a highlight in the gameplay shared thus far being a realm seemingly underwater, with fish swimming through the air and seaweed waving in invisible currents. Also of significance is Clair Obscur: Expedition is not open world. Instead, these levels are linear in design, with secret routes and hidden areas sure, but these biomes are curated experiences. From gameplay shared thus far, the game seems like it’ll be for the better than players aren’t free to take in the narrative, action, and exploration at their own pace. There’s an important purpose driving the motives behind each character, and Sandfall Interactive have opted to portray their odyssey at a pace they feel is most suitable. Sandfall Interactive are right to be confident. Clair Obscur: Expedition looks fantastic and should end the year as one of the biggest games released. It’ll be nothing short of a Lumiere-sized tragedy should it fail to find an audience. Vampire Survivors on PS4 and PS5 Will Not Receive Cross-Save Due to Legal Issues
Vampire Survivors developer Poncle has revealed that the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game will not include cross-save. The feature, originally planned for an update slated for release this month, is apparently not possible for the PlayStation platforms owing to some legal issues with the company. In a thread on social media platform X, Poncle elaborated that the legal issue comes from the developer needing to share the information of the partners that it works with in order to enable cross-save. Because of this, chances of the feature ever making it to the PS4 and PS5 “are now very slim.” “We’re sorry to say won’t be able to bring the Vampire Survivors Cross-Save feature to PlayStation 4/5 alongside our next update,” wrote Poncle on X. “Last month, we told everyone that Cross-Save would be available on PlayStation 4/5, PC, Xbox, Android and iOS alongside our next free [Vampire Survivors] update in April” “But at last minute, we’ve run into a legal issue on PlayStation we weren’t aware of that requires us to share info on our partners that we’re unable to. The chances of Cross-Save coming to PlayStation consoles are now very slim.” However, Poncle has said that it’s not completely impossible. Because of this, it is continuing to work with PlayStation to sort these issues out. “We’re so sorry to build up any anticipation for this feature on PlayStation only to change plans at the last minute,” wrote the developer. Despite problems faced in bringing cross-save to PS4 and PS5, other versions of the game – PC, Xbox, Android and iOS – will still be getting the feature in an update over the next few weeks. Even the Nintendo Switch version of Vampire Survivors will get the update in a later update. The Apple Arcade version might get cross-save too. The PS4 and PS5 versions of Vampire Survivors were released back in August 2024. Alongside the base game itself, all of the DLC for the game was also released The last major DLC released for Vampire Survivors was Ode to Castlevania, where Poncle collaborated with Konami to bring in some Castlevania-related characters, enemies and weapons to the game. The DLC was released back in November. Check out our coverage of the release for more details, including a trailer.

Marathon Could Launch in 2025 – Rumour
While Bungie’s revival of Marathon has been shrouded in quite a bit of mystery, the studio is getting to reveal more details about the title later this week. In the mean time, however, a rumour has popped up indicating that Marathon will be coming out some time this year. According to Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, Bungie is planning for a 2025 release of Marathon. Considering this, the studio will also likely announce the official release date alongside the gameplay reveal planned for April 12. In a post on social media platform X, Henderson jokes about his wife signing him up for a gym membership when he tells her that he will be on a Marathon grind later this year. When asked for confirmation from a follower about whether this means Marathon will be out this year, he simply replies by saying “Yes.” “Told the missus I’ll be on a Marathon grind later this year and she’s only gone and signed me up the gym,” posted Henderson on X. Bungie officially announced the gameplay reveal for Marathon through a trailer released earlier this month. While the trailer itself doesn’t give us too many details about the game aside from letting us grab some sneak peeks at its environments and sound design, it did indicate that, in some way, it might follow-up on the story threads that Bungie had first set down all the way back in the 1990s with its original Marathon trilogy. The announcement came a couple of months after rumours came about that Bungie is gearing up to showcase Marathon in a major way. Back in February, Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb commented on the fact that Marathon was missing from Sony’s State of Play showcase at the time because Bungie was planning its own showcase for the game. “Bungie does their own thing usually for Destiny, they’re going to adopt that same ‘We’re talking to our audience’ strategy this year as well, so I think April,” said Grubb. “We’ll probably hear from them about Marathon, and it would just be its own thing separate from a State of Play.” In the meantime, Bungie has also been constantly updating the Steam database entries for Marathon. Just last month, the company added a few new “app types” to the Steam database listing for Marathon. This indicates that the company is getting closer to the title’s release, and is gearing up to launch the game alongside some DLC or expansion passes. Bungie has also been keen on expanding its playtests for Marathon leading up to its gameplay reveal. Back in October, director Joe Ziegler mentioned wanting to get more players into playtests so that the studio could get more feedback on how the game was shaping up. According to Ziegler, the studio is “expanding our playtests a little bit wider and wider. We’re looking to add a significant amount of players to each of our milestones as we’re going forward, and some of these big inflections are opportunities for you all to join us.” Marathon was announced all the way back in 2023. The game is in development for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. If you’re interested in knowing where the game’s name comes from, check out our coverage of the classic Marathon trilogy being available on PC.

Disney Illusion Island Starring Mickey and Friends is Coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on May 30
News Disney Illusion Island Starring Mickey and Friends is Coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on May 30 A physical release for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S has also been planned for release on May 30 in North America and June 27 in Europe. Posted By Joelle Daniels | On 09th, Apr. 2025 Disney and developer Dlala Studios have officially confirmed that Disney Illusion Island Starring Mickey and Friends is coming to PC (via Steam, Microsoft Store and GOG), PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. While the digital release is slated for release on May 30, the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions will also be getting physical editions which come with an exclusive poster on May 30 in North America and June 27 in Europe. As part of the new multiplatform release, Disney Illusion Island Starring Mickey and Friends is also getting new content in the form of Scrooge offering the playable characters a new special ability called Dig! This ability can then be turned in for permanent upgrades for a new game mode dubbed Cave Adventuring Scavenger Hunt (C.A.S.H.). This new content will also be released on Nintendo Switch. Getting ready for its release on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, a new trailer for Disney Illusion Island Starring Mickey and Friends has been released. Check it out below. The trailer gives us quick glimpses at each of the four playable characters, before giving us a wider look at its gorgeous art style and levels and character designs. As the trailer indicates, along with the new content, Disney Illusion Island‘s multiplatform release will also bring with it sharper visuals thanks to the higher resolution output that is possible on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The multi-platform release was first hinted at earlier this week when PSDeals was able to scrape through PlayStation Store’s backend for details about the release. The game will include all of the gameplay features from the original Nintendo Switch release, including offline co-op multiplayer for between 2 and 4 players, along with the ability for players to help each other by using unique abilities. Disney Illusion Island was originally announced back in September 2022. It was eventually released on the Nintendo Switch, even getting a trailer leading up to its July 2023 release date. The trailer gave us a glimpse at some of the areas that players would be exploring in the game, as well as some of the special abilities of each of the four playable characters. In Disney Illusion Island, players take on the role of Mickey, Minnie, Goofy or Donald as they set forth to explore the titular island. The game has been structured like other metroidvania titles, complete with players needing to explore every nook and cranny in order to find upgrades and shortcuts that will help them progress further through its story. Back when it came out, the title got generally positive reviews. Its Metacritic aggregate sits at around 73, and in our own review for the game, we gave it a score of 8 out of 10. While we praised the game for great visuals and animations, as well as the general charm it exudes thanks to its witty writing, we did find some of its gameplay mechanics a on the shallower end, and the lack of combat offering up some awkward boss fights here and there. The Outer Worlds 2 Direct Announced for June 8th
This year’s Xbox Games Showcase finally has a date, and just like the past two years, it will be followed by a separate Direct for a major upcoming title – Obsidian Entertainment’s The Outer Worlds 2. Alongside new gameplay, the Direct takes fans inside the studio’s walls, with development team members providing new information and insights. The duration is unknown, and given how wildly the past two Directs for Starfield and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 varied, it’s hard to say. However, it offers hope that The Outer Worlds 2 will launch this year. Obsidian debuted its latest gameplay trailer at The Game Awards 2024 and touted the sci-fi RPG as being twice as big as the first game. There are new weapons, NPCs, and worlds to explore, and it looks to offer a notable visual jump (with ray traced reflections seemingly supported). Stay tuned for more details in June. The Outer Worlds 2 is coming to PS5, PC and Xbox Series X/S.

Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-Orders Have Been Delayed in Canada as Well
News Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-Orders Have Been Delayed in Canada as Well Nintendo says pre-orders were delayed "in order to align with the timing of pre-orders to be determined in the US." Posted By Shubhankar Parijat | On 09th, Apr. 2025 Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 are going to go live imminently, on April 9- in most of the world, at least. Nintendo recently announced that it was delaying Switch 2 pre-orders in the United States due to the potential impact of recently applied eye-watering tariffs on pricing, though it turns out some outside of the US are going to be impacted as well. In a statement to Mobile Syrup, Nintendo has announced that pre-orders for the Switch 2 have been delayed in Canada as well. The company says the decision was made to align pre-orders in both countries. There’s still no word on what the new date for pre-orders will be. That said, the previously announced June 5 release date for the console isn’t being changed, same as in the US. “Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in Canada will not start on April 9, 2025 in order to align with the timing of pre-orders to be determined in the US. Nintendo will provide updated information at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025 is unchanged,” the company says. As it stands, the console will be sold in the US at $449.99, and in the Canada at $629.99, though it’s likely that pricing will increase at least in the US. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming days. Donkey Kong Bananza Developer Won’t be Revealed Just Yet, Nintendo Says
Donkey Kong Bananza will be the first mainline 3D Donkey Kong platformer in well over two decades, and based on the gameplay we’ve seen so far, it’s looking more than a little promising. We still don’t know who developed it, however, and Nintendo isn’t ready to share that information either. The leading theory since the game’s announcement last week has been that Donkey Kong Bananza was developed by the team behind Super Mario Odyssey. When asked in a recent interview with IGN if that was the case, however, Nintendo’s vice president of product and player experience Bill Trinen refused to divulge any information. Instead, Trinen says Nintendo intends to reveal that information later. “You’ll have to stay tuned,” Trinen said. “We always like to start by showcasing the game and getting people focused on the gameplay, but we’ll have some information to share about the developer in due time.” Frustratingly enough, this isn’t the first time Nintendo has taken similar steps, having refused to reveal the development teams behind the likes of Super Mario RPG, Mario and Luigi: Brothership, and Princess Peach: Showtime! prior to their respective releases. Based on Trinen’s words, however, it does seem like Donkey Kong’s development team will be revealed at some point pre-launch, so there’s that. Donkey Kong Bananza launches on July 17 for Nintendo Switch 2.

Sonic Rumble is Releasing on May 8
Sega announced Sonic Rumble less than a year ago, and said at the time that the multiplayer title, developed by Angry Birds studio Rovio, would release sometime during the winter. That didn’t end up happening, but we do know when the game is coming now, and it’s not too far away.  Sega has announced that Sonic Rumble is going to launch worldwide a month from now, on May 8. Each match in the title will pit 32 players against each other, and players will compete through platforming courses inspired by Sonic titles in a battle royale experience similar to Fall Guys.  The game’s launch will also see the addition of progression mechanics (in the form of skills and skill slots) and a crews system to allow players to band together and play together. Check out the game’s release date announcement trailer below to get more glimpses of gameplay footage.  At launch, Sonic Rumble will be available for PC (via Steam), iOS, and Android.

Persona 3 Reload Demo is Out Now
Atlus has released a free demo for Persona 3 Reload, its remake of the classic 2006 RPG, for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Xbox One, PS4, and PC. You can play through the RPG’s opening and transfer saves to the game to continue. Best of all, it’s replayable, though most of the build variety, Social Links, etc, open up well past the opening sections. Atlus notes that the demo differs in “some specifications,” though it didn’t specify how. Also, if you’re playing the game and returning to the demo, you can accidentally overwrite the former’s save data (since they occupy the same cloud save slot). Nevertheless, this is a great way to experience the critically acclaimed role-playing game, especially if you’re wary of buying it first. You have to wonder if the demo will also come to Nintendo Switch 2 following rumors of Persona 3 Reload and Metaphor ReFantazio launching for the platform. Time will tell, so stay tuned.

Switch 2’s GameChat is “Part of the Overall Platform Experience,” Says Nintendo
News Switch 2’s GameChat is “Part of the Overall Platform Experience,” Says Nintendo Nintendo of America's Bill Trinen also considers the subscription service a “critical piece" of the console's experience. Posted By Ravi Sinha | On 08th, Apr. 2025 GameChat took up a significant chunk of the recent Nintendo Switch 2 Direct and seems like the company’s answer to Discord on the system. Such is the focus from a hardware perspective that there’s a dedicated C button. While it’s free when the Switch 2 launches, it won’t stay that way forever. As revealed during the Direct, the free window ends on March 31st, 2026. After that, you need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to use it. “You would be able to find out about the NSO subscription there and get a sense of some of the functionality,” said Nintendo of America’s VP of player and product experience, Bill Trinen, to Polygon. If not subscribed, the C button is pretty much useless. Regarding attaching a price to GameChat’s use, Trinen said it’s “part of the overall platform experience” while adding that Nintendo Switch Online is a “critical piece of the Switch 2 experience.” Thus far, Nintendo has confirmed that Expansion Pack subscribers will get Switch 2 upgrades for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom alongside GameCube Classics. The Nintendo Switch 2 launches on June 5th for $449.99, but recent tariffs have delayed US pre-orders. Hollow Knight: Silksong Marketing Lead Reaffirms Launch on Nintendo Switch 1
News Hollow Knight: Silksong Marketing Lead Reaffirms Launch on Nintendo Switch 1 The long-awaited Metroidvania title was recently announced for Nintendo Switch 2 and will launch later this year on multiple platforms. Posted By Ravi Sinha | On 08th, Apr. 2025 Roughly a week after the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, it still doesn’t seem real that Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight: Silksong will launch this year. Announced in 2019 and facing numerous delays, the Metroidvania title briefly appeared during the Direct with a few seconds of gameplay. The development team hasn’t offered any new updates or details since then. However, Matthew Griffin, in charge of marketing and publishing for Silksong, tweeted, “Just to clarify…Hollow Knight: Silksong is coming to both Nintendo Switch AND the Nintendo Switch 2.” He also reposted a tweet from Nintendo of Europe about the 2025 release window. Plans can always change, though. Hollow Knight: Silksong is also coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox One, PC and Xbox Series X/S while launching on day one for Game Pass. The story focuses on Hornet, Hallownest’s princess, who is captured and transported to a new kingdom. Alongside new combat mechanics, players can embark on new quests, take on over 150 new enemies and partake in the new challenging Silk Soul mode. Stay tuned for more details and a definite release date in the coming months. Mistfall Hunter Will Kick Off its Second Beta on April 22
News Mistfall Hunter Will Kick Off its Second Beta on April 22 The second beta will include a host of new content, such as a new class, a solo mode, legendary accessories and new areas to explore. Posted By Joelle Daniels | On 08th, Apr. 2025 Developer Bellring Games has announced that its extraction action RPG Mistfall Hunter will be kicking off its second beta test on April 22. In its announcement, the studio has also detailed the new content that players will have access to throughout the beta. Headlining the slate of new content for beta 2 of Mistfall Hunter is the new Reverent Seer build. The class makes use of Catalysts to power its attacks and spells, and will also essentially be the first playable class in the game to offer support abilities for allies. The Reverent Seer will use Rune Pillars as its signature mechanic, which can be used to summon runes for healing, shielding, and damage buffs for allies. The title will also include new scenes and areas for players to explore. Dubbed the Ember Iris, the new region will feature Lake Iris as one of its signature points of interests. Throughout the map, players will also get to discover mysterious ancient arrays and seal gates. The area is also home to the Forge, which is currently home to Corroded artisans and laborers. With the addition of these new areas, the map of Brandrgarde will be too large to be a single map. The fortress is being split into two, with players spawning into one of the halves at random. Through the beta, Bellring Games is also planning on testing out the new solo mode. While it features the same map as trio mode, solo mode features redesigned monster placement that is better balanced for individual players rather than entire groups. The studio is also looking for feedback from players when it comes to the difficulty of its solo mode, especially in terms of class balance. The beta will also bring with it a host of new monsters, such as the Prison Guard, the Warden, the Penitent, and the Nightwatcher. Otto, the Flesheater is also a now a more fleshed-out fight, with players getting to fight its second phase. The boss also has a challenge mode that can be unlocked by players that have found the Dried Flower Knot. The challenge mode, dubbed Einherjar mode, has been described by the studio as being quite challenging, while also offering better rewards. Mistfall Hunter‘s beta 2 will also be getting a host of balance changes. Melee classes, for example, are getting a boost in damage bonus and damage reduction attributes. This is being done because melee classes tend to be at a disadvantage in fights due to their proximity to enemy attacks. More details about class balance, and how it will affect PvP, will be revealed some time next week. Other changes in the second beta include adjustments to the game’s progression, such as the addition of legendary accessories , as well as the removal of fixed affixes. The game is also getting improvements to the core technology running it, offering players smoother gameplay experiences. Thanks to this, the minimum required GPUs have been lowered to an AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT or an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660. Mistfall Hunter is in development for PC and Xbox Series X/S. The game is slated for release later this year. Star Wars: Zero Company is the Title of the Tactics Game by Respawn and Bit Reactor – Rumour
While developers Respawn and Bit Reactor are expected to unveil a new turn-based tactics game based on the Star Wars universe at the upcoming Star Wars Celebration event, more rumours and leaks have been popping up, revealing more details about the game. The latest one comes courtesy of Mp1st’s Kurakasis, who believes that the game is expected to be titled Star Wars: Zero Company. Kurakasis has had a pretty good track record with leaks, so the rumoured title seems to be the likely one we’ll see when the game is unveiled on April 19. Behind the scenes, the game has been codenamed Bruno. The leaked title follows on last month’s leaks that gave us some details about the upcoming game. Star Wars: Zero Company is slated to be an isometric turn-based strategy game that has been compared to titles like XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Screenshots were part of the previous leaks, giving us a look at some of the in-development UI for the upcoming title. Much like Firaxis’ XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM 2, Star Wars: Zero Company seemingly has an element of chance to it. One of the leaked screenshots gave us a look at a Stormtrooper being targeted for an attack, with each attack option having different chances at landing. A thermal detonator, for instance, had a 95 percent chance to hit the target. When it comes to minute-to-minute gameplay, Star Wars: Zero Company seemingly uses an isometric camera angle similar to other games in the genre. Players will also have access to a home base similar to games like XCOM. Here, the player will seemingly be able to partake in some of the more management-oriented tasks that a turn-based tactics game demands, such as setting up a squad loadout and researching and acquiring new weapons and other pieces of equipment. Neither Respawn Entertainment nor Bit Reactor have revealed anything about the title aside from the fact that it is being developed in Unreal Engine 5. This fact was discovered through a job listing last year for a Senior Lighting Artist that would be able to work with Unreal Engine 5-based technologies like Lumen. The game was officially unveiled all the way back in January 2022. Alongside Respawn, Bit Reactor is the major studio working on the game. The studio features industry veterans, including XCOM 2 and XCOM: Enemy Unknown developer Greg Foerscth. Bit Reactor has previously also offered assurances that development on the game hadn’t been affected by layoffs that have hit various studios under the Electronic Arts banner. The fact that the game will be unveiled during the upcoming Star Wars Celebration was announced back in March. The announcement came after rumours of it happening back in January. As part of the announcement, Respawn and Bit Reactor are expected to show off a trailer for the game. While no confirmation about platforms have been made so far, Star Wars: Zero Company is expected to come to PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), Xbox Series X/S and PS5.

Donkey Kong Bananza Seemingly Features Super Mario Odyssey’s Pauline
Through promotional images for Donkey Kong Bananza on Nintendo’s Korean website, the company has accidentally revealed that Pauline of Super Mario Odyssey fame will also be present in the game somehow. The image has seemingly since been corrected, but it was spotted by social media X user Genki_JPN. Check it out below. At the time of publishing, the promotional image has been altered to remove the presence of Pauline. Interestingly, Pauline’s presence in the game’s art indicates that there might be other crossovers between Donkey Kong Bananza and Super Mario Odyssey. It is worth noting that, while Pauline was officially named and was even featured in a singing role in Super Mario Odyssey‘s New Donk City level, the character has been around for much longer. Pauline is the person being rescued by Mario in the original 1981 Donkey Kong. More recently, 2017’s Super Mario Odyssey featured Pauline as a prominent part of its marketing leading up to its release. Pauline is also the character that sings the title’s theme song, Jump Up, Super Star!, which also acts as a bombastic finale for the game’s New Donk City stage. While the Mario and Donkey Kong universes haven’t really had much in the way of stories or overarching lore, Pauline’s presence in Donkey Kong Bananza does have some more humorous implications for both games. Since Pauline was originally kidnapped by the titular character in the 1981 Donkey Kong, it might be possible that the two have since become friends leading up to the events of Donkey Kong Bananza. Donkey Kong Bananza was officially unveiled during Nintendo’s Switch 2-oriented Direct earlier this month. The title is the first fully-3D platformer in the Donkey Kong franchise since the 1999 release of Donkey Kong 64 on the Nintendo 64. In Donkey Kong Bananza, players take on the role of Donkey Kong has he platforms and wrecks his way through various levels. The game also seemingly features quite a bit of environmental destruction, allowing players to cause plenty of chaos throughout the game’s levels. Donkey Kong Bananza will be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 on July 17. More gameplay details about the title were revealed during Nintendo’s Treehouse streams. The new gameplay footage showcased the title’s exploration mechanics, including environmental destruction, as well as platforming. The title is slated to require 10 GB of storage when it comes out. File sizes for other games have also been revealed. Mario Kart World, for instance, will need 23.4 GB, while Switch 2 Enhanced title Kirby and the Forgotten Land will come in at 5.7 GB.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s Hardcore Mode Arrives Next Week
News Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s Hardcore Mode Arrives Next Week Players must select three negative perks before starting a Hardcore playthrough and deal with no fast travel or directions. Posted By Ravi Sinha | On 08th, Apr. 2025 Warhorse Studios’ Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 received a major update last month with over 1,000 bug fixes and Barber Mode to adjust Henry’s hair and beard style. But what about Hardcore Mode? The game’s official Twitter announced it’s coming next week, though a specific date is pending. It also showcases negative perks players can activate for a Hardcore run, each with unique effects. What does it all mean? As outlined in a Dev Livestream from last month, Bad Back means less carrying capacity and a chance to strain your back when bending over to pick up herbs or mushrooms. Heavy-Footed causes Henry to make more noise and shoes to deteriorate faster. Numbskull is a 20 percent decrease for experience gain, and so on. There are ten negative perks, of which you must pick three before starting a Hardcore run. The mode also limits helpful UI elements, turns off fast travel, removes cardinal directions from the compass, and doesn’t show your position on the map. Stay tuned for more details on the patch, including its release date, in the coming days. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Nintendo Switch 2’s Game-Key Cards Won’t be Tied to Specific Nintendo Consoles or Accounts
News Nintendo Switch 2’s Game-Key Cards Won’t be Tied to Specific Nintendo Consoles or Accounts The Game-Key Cards will work like any other physical release of a Switch 2 game, which players can share or even sell as a used game. Posted By Joelle Daniels | On 08th, Apr. 2025 Among the many new things unveiled by Nintendo during and around its Switch 2-oriented Direct last week was its new Game-Key Cards initiative. Through this, the company seemingly aims to sell much larger games than would otherwise fit in a Switch 2 Game Card through physical channels. Nintendo’s Tetsuya Sasaki has confirmed that in a conversation with GameSpot that, despite the Game Card itself not including any data for the game, purchasing and using a Game-Key Card will not tie it to a Nintendo account or specific Switch 2 console. According to Sasaki, this means that Game-Key Cards will function like any other physical copy of a Switch 2 game. This also means that the Game-Key Card can be shared with other Switch 2 owners, and even be re-sold in the used games market. “So key cards will start up on the console or system that it is slotted into, so it’s not tied to an account or anything,” said Sasaki. For context, games released through the Game-Key Card will come in physical packaging like any other Switch 2 game. The Game Card itself will also have the red colour that Switch 2 Game Cards will have. Inserting a Game-Key Card into a Switch 2 basically has the console download the entire game from Nintendo’s servers. The card itself will not include any game data aside from the necessary DRM code that lets the console know that you own the game. It is also worth noting that, after having downloaded a game through a Game-Key Card, the card has to be inserted into the Switch 2 to play the game. Taking the card out will mean that the game will not be playable until the card is re-inserted into the console, much like a physical copy of any other Switch 2 game. Nintendo also points out through its support page that, aside from downloading the game, only the first launch of the title will require an Internet connection. While Nintendo hasn’t confirmed if any of the games it unveiled during the Switch 2 Direct will make use of Game-Key Cards for their physical release, the system has likely been put in place in advance for the ever-growing sizes of AAA game releases. While Nintendo’s own titles tend to make efficient use of space, third-party AAA games tend to be quite a bit larger. The upgraded specs of the Switch 2 over its predecessor might also lead to games needing more storage space. Since the upcoming console can push a much larger number of pixels thanks to its horsepower, various game assets like textures will likely end up being much larger so that they look good when played at 1080p or even 4K, and art assets, alongside audio, tends to make up the bulk of the storage that a game often requires. The Nintendo Switch 2 will be hitting store shelves on June 5. Pre-orders for the console have been put on hold for the time being as the company evaluates the effect the US tariffs will have on the market. The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake Will Launch Imminently – Rumour
The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake Will Launch Imminently – Rumour The relentlessly rumoured Virtuos-developed remake will allegedly shadow drop "at any moment this month," a journalist has claimed. Posted By Shubhankar Parijat | On 08th, Apr. 2025 Having been in the rumour mill for about a couple of years now, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion’s remake seems to be on the verge of releasing, according to journalist Jeff Grubb.  Caught by VGC, on a recent Giant Bomb livestream, Grubb claimed that the Virtuos-developed remake is going to “shadow drop at any moment,” with a release allegedly due for some time this month. That, incidentally, aligns with recent claims by prominent leaker NateTheHate.  The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion’s remake has allegedly been developed in Unreal Engine 5, and on top of a visual and technical overhaul, it features various gameplay improvements. The title will reportedly feature changes to stealth mechanics, the UI, stamina management, archery, some aspects of melee combat, and more. Read more on that through here. Which platforms the remake will launch is unknown. However, based on Microsoft’s increasing multiplatform focus, it wouldn’t be surprising to see it arrive on all available platforms day and date. Stay tuned for more updates. Nintendo Switch 2 Won’t Have Achievements, Surprising No One
We’re multiple generations into PlayStation and Xbox having system-wide achievement systems in the form of Trophies and, well, Achievements. However, all this time, Nintendo refused to join the party. Of course, some had hoped that the upcoming Switch 2 would finally introduce something similar, but that’s not happening. The same was confirmed by Nintendo’s vice president of player and product experience Bill Trinen when asked by Polygon if the Switch 2 will finally have its equivalent of Xbox’s Achievements or PlayStation’s Trophies. “Nope,” he replied. Those hoping for a taste of achievements in Nintendo titles will still be able to do just that with the enhanced Switch 2 re-releases for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, but system-wide achievements will remain elusive, it seems. Given how Nintendo has operated over the years, it doesn’t exactly come as a shock. The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch on June 5, with pre-orders kicking off on April 9 everywhere except the US, thanks to the potential impact of pricing tariffs.

Death Stranding Movie Finds its Director
First officially confirmed to be in development close to three years ago, the Death Stranding movie has found its director. According to a Deadline report, the movie based on Kojima Productions’ 2019 title is going to be directed by Michael Sarnoski, who is best known as the director of 2024’s A Quiet Place: Day One. Sarnoski also directed 2021’s Pig, and the upcoming The Death of Robin Hood. The report also adds Lars Knudsen and Ari Aster’s Square Peg have joined the project as co-producers. It was previously confirmed that the Death Stranding movie would be co-produced by A24 and Kojima Productions. Game director Hideo Kojima has also previously confirmed that he is “deeply involved” in the movie’s production, supervising, plotting, and more. Read more on that through here. Death Stranding has been played by over 20 million people to date across all platforms. Its sequel, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, launches for PS5 on June 26.

A Minecraft Movie Made $157 Million in the Domestic Box Office in its Opening Weekend
While the Super Mario Bros. Movie was incredibly successful, having made $146 million in the domestic market on its theatrical release, A Minecraft Movie has now overtaken it, becoming the highest-grossing box office debut for a game adaptation. According to IGN, A Minecraft Movie made $157 million in its opening weekend. A Minecraft Movie has also been doing quite well in international market, making an extra $144 million. This puts the combined box office debut for A Minecraft Movie at around $301 million. For context, the cost to produce A Minecraft Movie reportedly came in at around $150 million, not counting its global marketing costs. While this is by no means confirmation on the matter, the fact that A Minecraft Movie has made so much money in just its opening weekend would indicate that Warner Bros. might have sequels planned. Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer would likely support endeavours for a sequel, since back in March, he spoke about wanting more video games to be adapted into movies and TV shows. In an interview, Spencer spoke about how Microsoft had learned from the mistakes it had made with its Halo adaptation, and would like to go ahead with adapting more of its properties for the big and little screen. Were learning and growing through this process, which is giving us more confidence that we should do more, said Spencer. We learned from doing Halo. We learned from doing Fallout. So all of these build on themselves. And obviously well have a couple that miss. But what Id say to the Xbox community that likes this work is, Youre going to see more, because were gaining confidence and were learning through this. In the same interview, Legendarys chairman of worldwide production, Mary Parent, spoke about why A Minecraft Movie has that title, rather than just Minecraft like the game it is based on. According to Parent, the movies title was chosen because the Minecraft games dont have a singular story. Rather, stories in Minecraft are different depending on players, owing to the games sandbox nature. Were calling it A Minecraft Movie because were respecting the fact that theres no one story that drives the game, said Parent. The last major adaptation of a Microsoft property was the Paramount+ Halo series. The show was ultimately cancelled after two seasons, owing to the heavy criticism it faced. Other video game adaptations, however, have been doing quite well. Segas and Paramounts Sonic the Hedgehog movies, for instance, have made more than $1 billion at the global box office with three movies having been released. When it comes to TV, shows like Amazon Primes Fallout, as well as HBOs adaptation of The Last of Us have both been well-received both in terms of critics as well as in terms of getting viewers. Fallout 76 creative director Jon Rush also spoke about the Fallout show bringing in a new audience to the game, as well as older titles in the franchise. The Last of Us will be premiering its second season on April 13.

Horizon Adaptation Has Been Changed from Movie to TV Show
NewsHorizon Adaptation Has Been Changed from Movie to TV ShowAccording to the head of PlayStation Productions, this decision was made in order to make sure that the adaptation was being done right.Posted By Joelle Daniels | On 07th, Apr. 2025 The movie adaptation of Sonys Horizon franchise that was last announced during CES 2025 back in January has now seemingly been changed into becoming a TV show. In an interview with Variety, head of PlayStation Productions Asad Qizilbash spoke about how there is an audience for games being adapted into movies and shows if the adaptations are done right. I think what people have seen in Hollywood is that video game adaptations, if done right, can actually be very popular, and they scale really well. Thats been a big sea change that Ive seen in the last five, six years, since weve really started to come and deliver some great content, said Qizilbash. This desire to do it right, according to him, was what led to the Horizon adaptation being turned from a movie to a TV show. Qizilbash said that it just wasnt creatively going how we wanted to. It is worth noting that changes like this arent likely to have adverse effects on the quality of the adaptation since the production work is likely still in its early stages. Neither Sony nor Columbia, for instance, have confirmed what kind of cast or crew is currently attached to the project. The adaptation will likely be produced in a similar way as what we got to see with HBOs The Last of Us, which was largely faithful to the source material in the games, while also making a few minor changes here and there in order to tell the story in a way better suited for episodic viewing. The Last of Us is getting ready to premiere it second season on April 13. Leading up to this, the show also got a new trailer. The Duskbloods Will Feature a Cute Companion in the Player Hub
The Duskbloods director Hidetaka Miyazaki has revealed that the creature we see at the end of the games reveal trailer will be the players main companion in the games hub. In an interview with Nintendo, Miyazaki compared the characters role to that of the fire keepers in Dark Souls and the Maiden in Black from Demons Souls. That character shares a similar role with the fire keepers from the Dark Souls series. They remain in the hub area, providing the player with advice and guidance, said Miyazaki. As for why the creature looks like it could end up being some sort of mascot character for The Duskbloods, Miyazaki said that it was something new that FromSoftware was trying as part of its partnership with Nintendo in making the game. I suppose you could say we tried doing something a little Nintendo-esque in the spirit of the partnership, he said. We tried something cute for a change. Although I will say this character is actually an elderly gentleman. For more context about the role that the unnamed creature will likely play in The Duskbloods, traditionally, FromSoftwares titles have featured a character that accompanies the players in their adventures, either by actively traveling alongside them like in Elden Ring, or taking care of the players main home base, like in Dark Souls 2 or Bloodborne. This character is often the one players have to interact with in order to do various things like spending Souls, Runes, or Blood Echoes to level up their stats. The characters also often form an integral part of their games stories. The fire keepers from Dark Souls, for example, have been the last few creatures that have been keeping the flames from dying out. Having a character like that be a part of the home base in The Duskbloods would indicate that the title will feature some form of meta-progression outside of matches. While FromSoftware hasnt confirmed too many details about the game yet, the fact that it will be a match-based PvPvE title where players take on AI-based enemies as well as other players would indicate that each match would have them starting from scratch. The Duskbloods was originally announced during Nintendos Switch 2 Direct last week. The game doesnt yet have a solid release date. FromSoftware, however, has confirmed that it is aiming for a 2026 launch window. The game will feature more than 12 playable characters, and players will get to define their relationships with other players through the roles they pick. Each match will feature a group of 8 players that might end up being friends or foes, as they also try to take on environmental hazards and AI enemies throughout the match. Players will also get to pick between characters depending on their unique abilities and preferred playing styles. The studio has also stated that, while it has been working on more multiplayer-centric games recently, it is still committed to making more single-player games in the future. In the meantime, also check out reports that FromSoftware is the owner of the IP for The Duskbloods.

Tekken 8 Will Receive Emergency Patch Following Season 2 Backlash
While much of the world focused on the Nintendo Switch 2, Bandai Namcos Tekken 8 has been on fire. The acclaimed fighting game saw the launch of Season 2, which received massive backlash. On Steam alone, its recent reviews sit at Overwhelmingly Negative with only 11 percent of its 3,909 user reviews getting the thumbs-up.The development team has responded to the criticism on Twitter and confirmed an emergency patch, 2.00.02, to address two unintended issues that resulted in unblockable attacks for Paul and Jack-8. It will go live in mid to late April alongside a change that removes chip damage on throw breaks.Meanwhile, the team works on identifying and fixing the causes of other behavior-related character issues and a malfunction in the OPTIONS settings. Following the next patch, the developer will continue to carefully review and respond to feedback from the community. The reasoning behind the backlash is the significant adjustments to all fighters, buffing them all around and creating more 50-50 scenarios. Players have also expressed displeasure at the lack of defensive options (promised before Season 2s release) and a fundamental disconnect with the community.Stay tuned for more details on the upcoming patchs release date and contents in the coming days. Tekken 8 is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.

NewsMarathon Gameplay Reveal Confirmed for April 12thAfter its initial announcement nearly two years ago, Bungie is finally ready to showcase its upcoming PvP extraction shooter.Posted By Ravi Sinha | On 07th, Apr. 2025Following various teases, Bungie has confirmed a gameplay reveal for Marathon on April 12th at 10 AM PT on Twitch. Though not a direct sequel to the original trilogy, Bungie wants to honor the existing mythology, story, and themes. Whether that could mean a closed beta, potentially announced during the upcoming reveal, remains to be seen. However, updates on the backend of its Steam listing hint at imminent pre-orders, so it may launch sooner than expected.
