Rite Aid is moving quickly to close additional store locations after selling a substantial chunk of its pharmacy business to other companies last week. The drugstore chain, which is winding down operations after seeking Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection for a second time earlier this month, has listed 95 store locations that it wants to close as it continues to seek buyers for its retail operations. The locations span six states, with Rite Aid’s home state of Pennsylvania being hit hardest. The list includes more than 70 Pennsylvania stores. Competitors scoop up Rite Aid’s pharmacy assets The move to close additional locations was disclosed in a court filing one day after Rite Aid announced that it has reached agreements to sell its prescription files for more than 1,000 pharmacy locations, most of Rite Aid’s fleet. CVS Pharmacy, Walgreens, Albertsons, Kroger, and Giant Eagle were among the successful bidders, the company said. The sale agreements still need to be approved by a court. Rite Aid also said that CVS will take over “many” pharmacy locations in Washington state, Oregon, and Idaho, although it did not name the locations. CVS, in its own announcement, said it planned to buy prescription files for 625 locations but that it was only taking over 64 physical Rite Aid stores. That leaves the immediate fate of many Rite Aid locations uncertain. Although all locations will cease to be Rite Aid stores eventually, Rite Aid is still seeking to sell some of them to other retailers. An auction is planned for June. In the meantime, expect the 95 stores listed below to close soon. Fast Company reached out to Rite Aid for a more specific timeline. The shuttering of these locations comes after previous Rite Aid filings revealed that it would close 47 initial stores followed by 68 additional stores last week, for a total of 210 closures so far. At the time of its bankruptcy filing, Rite Aid revealed that it had 1,277 pharmacies, three distribution centers, and more than 24,000 employees across 15 states. LG's 27-inch 1440p UltraGear OLED monitor (model 27GX790A) is as close to gaming nirvana as fps-hungry players can get — for now, anyway. It has a 480Hz refresh rate, allowing it to actually display up to 480 fps for insanely fast-paced shooters, along with a low 0.03ms response time. And it supports DisplayPort 2.1, which offers higher bandwidth than typical DisplayPort 1.4 ports, so it doesn't need to use Display Stream Compression (DSC) like most other gaming displays. Together with NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro technology, both of which will help to reduce screen tearing, the UltraGear 27 has pretty much everything you'd want in a high-end gaming display. But given its high $1,000 retail price (though it's currently on sale for $800), the UltraGear 27 clearly isn't meant for most people. You'll absolutely need a powerful GPU and CPU to get close to seeing 480 fps in 1440p. And, let's be honest, very few people will even see the difference between 480Hz and more affordable 120Hz to 240Hz screens. The LG 27GX790A is for the true sickos. I've tested plenty of high refresh rate screens in my time, from gaming laptops to a wide variety of monitors. I distinctly remember the excitement around 120Hz LCDs at CES 2010, and I definitely noticed the difference between those screens and standard 60Hz displays at the time. Shooters just looked smoother and felt more responsive. Then there was the leap to 240Hz screens, which was noticeable but not nearly as impressive as the arrival of OLED gaming displays with better black levels and astounding contrast. Then came 360Hz screens, which, to be honest, didn't feel like a huge leap over 240Hz. Our eyes can only see so much after all, especially if you're moving beyond your peak gaming years. So I didn't really expect to be wowed by the UltraGear 27 — I figured it would be yet another solid OLED monitor, like the 27-inch 4K Alienware we recently reviewed. But after spending plenty of time with the UltraGear 27 on my gaming PC, powered by an NVIDIA RTX 5090 and AMD's Ryzen 9 9950X3D, I noticed something strange. While I couldn't really see a major difference between its 480Hz screen and my daily driver, the 240Hz Alienware 32-inch QD-OLED, I could feel it. The first time the UltraGear 27 truly clicked for me — the point where I finally understood the hype around 480Hz displays — was during a Rocket League match. I noticed that the longer I played, the more I reached a flow state where I could easily read the position of the ball, re-orient the camera and zip off to intercept. It almost felt like there was a direct connection between what my brain wanted to do, and what was actually happening on the screen. I forgot about the Xbox Elite controller in my hand, and the desk clutter in my office. The real world melted away — I was fully inside Rocket League's absurd soccer arena. When the match ended, it took me a few minutes to reacclimatize to reality. Rocket League's fast motion and lack of downtime made it the ideal introduction to super-high frame rates. I was also easily able to reach 480 fps in 1440p with my system's hardware, but you'll still easily be able to see upwards of 300 fps with older GPUs, especially if you bump down to 1080p. To be clear, this monitor is pretty much wasted on older and budget video cards. I noticed a similarly transcendent flow state as I got back into Overwatch 2, a game I gave up on years ago. The UltraGear 27 shined best when I was playing fast-paced characters like Tracer, Genji and Lucio, since I had a better sense of space during heated matches. But it also helped with more accurate shots when sniping with the likes of Hanzo and Widowmaker. Beyond the seemingly metaphysical benefits of its 480Hz screen, the UltraGear 27 is also simply a great OLED monitor. Black levels are wonderfully dark, and it can also achieve slightly brighter highlights (up to 1,300 nits) than most OLEDs in small areas. Graphically rich games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 practically leap off the screen, thanks to its excellent 98.5 percent DCI-P3 color accuracy. The UltraGear 27 doesn't use a QD-OLED screen like Alienware's latest models, but its color performance doesn't suffer much for it. Devindra Hardawar for Engadget If you've got a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X around, the UltraGear 27's two HDMI 2.1 ports will also let them perform at their best. While there are no built-in speakers, the display does include a headphone jack with support for DTS technology for spatial audio like most gaming monitors. It's also a 4-pole connection, so you can plug in headphones with microphones as well. For accessories, there are two USB 3.0 Type A ports, along with an upstream USB connection for your PC. The UltraGear 27 doesn't look particularly distinctive when it's turned off, but it's hard to ask for much flair when it does so much right. Its nearly borderless bezel makes the screen practically float in the air, and you can also easily adjust its height and angle to suit your needs. Devindra Hardawar for Engadget What's bad about the UltraGear 27? The biggest downside with the UltraGear 27 is its $1,000 retail price. While it's nice to see it already falling to $800, it's still absurdly high compared to most 27-inch 1440p monitors. If you want to save some cash, LG's 27-inch 240Hz UltraGear is still a very good option. But if you're in the market for a 480Hz display, you'll basically have to live with paying a ton. For example, ASUS's ROG Swift 27-inch OLED is still selling for $1,000. Should you buy the UltraGear 27? If you're an esports player, or a gamer who demands the highest framerates no matter the cost, the UltraGear 27 is an excellent OLED monitor. But I think most players would be perfectly fine with a cheaper 240Hz screen. Even if you can easily afford the UltraGear 27, it's also worth considering larger screens like the Alienware 32-inch 4K QD-OLED. You'll still get decently high frame rates, but you'll also get a screen that's more immersive for ogling the graphics in Clair Obscur. It’s usable, sculpted intimidation. And somehow, it doesn’t feel fragile. NZ Caps nailed the density so it holds up under regular use, assuming you don’t rage-slam your board mid-campaign. The 2.25u Flail and Shield cap, though, is a whole different beast. Bigger, bolder, and louder in both shape and metaphor, this one’s molded for the Enter key – a decision that feels poetic. It’s the cap you hit when you mean business. The flail is frozen mid-arc, sculpted with such tension that it almost hums with kinetic energy, while the shield acts as both a visual counterbalance and a protective charm. In November last year, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) unveiled a radical rebranding exercise. The iconic British car brand, known for its sleek designs, racing heritage and unmistakable growler emblem featuring its big cat mascot, made a dramatic pivot that both alienated its existing customer base and failed to resonate with new audiences. Spearheaded by agency Accenture Song, the new identity introduced a minimalist 'J' logo, replacing the iconic 'growler' logo, along with advertisements that conspicuously lacked cars. Instead, the campaign featured an array of abstract visuals and diverse models with slogans like 'Live Vivid' and 'Delete Ordinary'. It was all part of a strategic shift to position Jaguar as an all-electric luxury brand by 2026. But the public response was swift and devastating. And the backlash wasn't limited to social media outrage: it translated directly to Jaguar's bottom line. Global sales plummeted from 61,661 vehicles in 2022 to just 33,320 in 2024, marking a nearly 50% decline. Now, the company is actively seeking a new advertising agency, effectively acknowledging that the rebrand has failed to achieve its objectives. So what went wrong, and what lessons can other brands learn from this costly misstep? What went wrong? Sue Benson, founder and CEO of The Behaviours Agency, lists some of the reasons she feels the new approach failed. "There are few, if any, cars in the ads, which leaves audiences unsure what the brand even stands for. Heuristics like the leaping cat logo have been discarded, weakening mental shortcuts consumers rely on. Emotion has suffered, too; rather than stirring pride or aspiration, the new identity feels cold and aloof. And in terms of consistency, the shift has been jarring, with little cohesion between legacy and future." In short, the brand destroyed more equity than it built. By abandoning recognisable elements that consumers had emotional connections with, Jaguar created a vacuum that its abstract new positioning couldn't fill. "In a market where EV brands are multiplying, distinctiveness matters more than ever," Sue reasons. "Jaguar already had strong emotional and cultural heritage, so it's worth questioning whether stripping that away in favour of minimalism was the right move." Sign of desperation Of course, many of us like radical change, and many people in the design industry were pretty excited when the rebrand was first launched. But sometimes, 'radical' can go too far and end up throwing out the proverbial baby with the bathwater. "The scale of the transformation was hard to ignore," says Gabor Schreier, chief creative officer at Saffron Brand Consultants. "If Rolls-Royce were to abandon the Spirit of Ecstasy, the reaction would be immediate. Jaguar's move belonged in the same category. Abandoning that legacy and sacrificing vital brand assets might be seen as either a bold, forward-looking strategy or a sign of desperation disguised as a provocation. A leap so detached from its heritage, they might as well have changed the name entirely." Typically, a successful rebrand will maintain a sufficient connection to a brand's core identity so that consumers can follow the evolution. Jaguar, however, created a chasm so wide that the rebrand appeared to be a complete reinvention rather than an evolution, leaving consumers confused about what Jaguar now stood for. A broader identity crisis Of course, none of this happened in a vacuum. Lewis Jones, managing partner at Coley Porter Bell, frames Jaguar's struggles within the broader context of the auto industry's shift to electric. He suggests that the problem goes beyond the rebrand itself to a more existential question about what makes cars desirable in the electric age. "The traditional thrills of internal combustion such as sound, speed and mechanical drama are fast becoming irrelevant," Lewis notes. "As EVs lean into minimalism, efficiency and tech-led rationality, the emotional connection to the car risks being left behind." In this light, a car brand needs to not only maintain its own identity but also solve the broader problem of creating emotional connections in a category increasingly defined by sameness. Instead, though, Jaguar leaned into the very minimalism that risks making electric vehicles feel interchangeable. "Design is where this battle will be won or lost," believes Lewis. "It is no coincidence that one of the most talked-about EVs of 2024 is the Renault 5, a masterclass in retro-modern design. It is not the specs or software that excited people. It is the character, the charm, the identity. It feels like something. In an era of indistinguishable EV silhouettes, design becomes the new sound of the engine. It is the thing that stirs emotion." Despite the failure of Jaguar's rebrand, though, Lewis acknowledges one potential positive: it has "elevated design into a cultural conversation." More specifically, the unveiling of the Type 00 concept car at Miami Art Week in December 2024, which showcased the brand's future electric design direction, did generate significant attention, albeit with the same polarised reception as the rebrand itself. In short, while Jaguar's execution may have been flawed, its instinct to differentiate through bold design wasn't entirely misguided. The failure was in how that design connected—or failed to connect—to the brand's heritage and values. Lessons for brands So, what have we learned from all this? Here are five big lessons for other brands contemplating significant repositioning. 1. Evolution, not revolution Gabor's comment that "right now, it feels as if a Jaguar might no longer be a Jaguar" encapsulates perhaps the most critical lesson. Overly radical rebrands risk destroying more equity than they create. Successful rebrands, in contrast, maintain sufficient connections to a brand's heritage while moving it forward. 2. Maintain distinctive assets Sue highlights the importance of maintaining recognisable elements that create mental shortcuts for consumers. Jaguar's abandonment of the growler logo eliminated a powerful visual cue that had built recognition over decades. The simple lesson is that brands should carefully audit their distinctive assets before discarding them. 3. Solve emotional connection challenges Lewis's about the EV category point to the challenge of creating emotional connections in categories undergoing technological transformation. Brands need to find new ways to create emotional resonance when traditional sources of differentiation disappear. 4. Test with core audiences Jaguar's rebrand appears to have been developed with an idealised future customer in mind, without sufficient consideration for existing loyal customers. Brands should test significant changes with core audiences before full implementation. 5. Ensure clarity of purpose Perhaps most fundamentally, Jaguar's rebrand created confusion about what the brand now stands for; as Sue notes, there was a marked absence of actual cars in the ads. A successful rebrand should clarify rather than confuse a brand's purpose. The road ahead As Jaguar looks to appoint a new ad agency, it faces the challenge of deciding whether to double down on its controversial new direction or course-correct back toward its heritage. Gabor notes, "As someone once said, to err is human; to rectify, wise. Even the most daring strategies leave room for course correction." No brand should be so committed to something that it cannot adjust when the market provides clear feedback. What's clear is that Jaguar's next agency will need to help the brand reconnect with consumers on an emotional level while distinguishing itself in the increasingly crowded electric vehicle market. As Lewis states, "The agency it chooses will need to build on this momentum, not just to sell cars but to help people reconnect emotionally with the act of driving." Whether that means embracing the controversial new direction with better execution, or finding a middle ground that honours Jaguar's heritage while looking to the future, remains to be seen. Either way, the stakes couldn't be higher for this storied British brand.

You just know they're such a sick by the way the jump, the way that they run, the way that they DP, their choice of combos, etc. You can tell who the jerks are even in games that don't have a taunt button. Losing to this type of players makes me salty as hell and winning doesn't do anything because you know they're too big of a jerk to care. Fuck these players. But in all seriousness, I find it funny how I'll immediately make judgments about a person's character based on how they play or if they beat me in a way I don't like. Teabagging of course but worse than that is when someone much better than you suddenly decides to do dumb stuff like jab the whole match. Anything that indicates they're not trying at all. The so-called “iPhone Air” is apparently on the way, despite Apple remaining characteristically tight-lipped about such a device.  Numerous leaks have suggested that the iPhone Air, which is expected to launch this fall along with the iPhone 17, will be just 5.5mm thick, making it easily Apple’s slimmest handset yet.  Recommended Videos With that in mind, many are curious to see how well the device stands up to the highly unscientific bend test meted out by tech YouTuber Zack Nelson of the popular JerryRigEverything channel. Whenever a high-profile handset hits the market, it’s not long before Nelson puts it through a wince-inducing stress test that includes scratching, scraping, burning, and, right at the end, bending. Over the years, at least five smartphones have succumbed to Nelson’s notorious bend test, which involves nothing more than bending the device with his bare hands. Several handsets, like the One Plus 10 Pro, have snapped clean in two. And yes, it’s always an excruciating watch. In 2023, Nelson managed to shatter the glass back of the iPhone 15 Pro Max. “You’ve been watching me durability test smartphones for about 11 years now, and most phones do not break,” Nelson said at the time. “iPhones especially do not break … like, ever.” While most folks are unlikely to ever apply the same amount of pressure to their handset — even accidentally — you can bet that Apple has been working hard on ways to ensure that the Air avoids a repeat of the so-called “bendgate” scandal that hit the iPhone 6 and larger iPhone 6 Plus in 2014.   The issue was linked to the phone’s larger size and thinner aluminum frame, with weak points near the volume buttons and antenna lines causing the phone to bend, especially when carried around in a tight pocket. The tech giant will be doing what it can to ensure the iPhone 17 Air retains its structural integrity despite its ultra-thin design, though we’ll have to wait until the phone’s launch to fully understand how Apple has designed it to meet the challenge. Even then, it kind of feels like a dead cert that the iPhone Air will fail Nelson’s rather harsh test, with the likelihood being that the device will crack and crunch, and possibly even splinter and shatter, before disintegrating in his hands. This review contains spoilers for The Last of Us season 2 episode 6. After last week’s brutal and violent installment, The Last of Us season 2 takes us back in time for episode 6. “Feel Her Love” teased the return of Pedro Pascal, and now we get to see what memories Ellie might be looking back on as she avenges Joel’s death. That’s right, it’s time for a flashback episode. It may seem a little strange to pause the action of the season for an entire episode dedicated to Joel and Ellie’s recent past, but this episode is actually taking a page straight out of The Last of Us Part II. While not all of the flashbacks here are replicated exactly as they are in the game, flashbacks are used periodically in The Last of Us Part II as a sort of palate cleanser to all of the violence the player experiences and as a narrative device to show us key moments of Joel and Ellie’s relationship in the time between the first and second games. This episode essentially serves the same purpose. The first flashback of the hour takes us back to Austin, Texas in 1983, and we get to see Tommy and Joel as kids for the first time. Tommy was buying pot and got into an altercation with the dealer, Joel saw and came to his brother’s defense. Tommy is worried about getting the belt from their dad, so Joel offers to take the fall for him. Their police officer father (played brilliantly by Tony Dalton) takes a break from his shift after hearing about what happened. He sees through Joel’s lie, and the two have a heart-to-heart. He tells Joel about how hard his father was on him, and admits that although he tried to do better, he knows he’s still been harder than he should be on Joel and Tommy. He tells Joel that if he ever becomes a father, he hopes he does a little better than he did. In the next flashback, we get to see a little bit of that. Two months after Joel and Ellie arrived in Jackson, we see Joel trading LEGOs with Seth for some kind of surprise for Ellie. He then goes home and works on refurbishing a guitar for her, the very same guitar we see in the season 2 premiere. While he’s working, Tommy brings Ellie home because she deliberately burned her arm while on kitchen duty to cover up evidence of her immunity. After Tommy leaves, she’s apologetic to Joel, saying, while slightly loopy on pain meds, that she just really wanted to wear short sleeves again. A cake arrives at their house moments later, and Joel gives Ellie her birthday surprise, which she happily digs into. She asks him to play a song for her on the guitar he made for her, and he plays the song “Future Days” by Pearl Jam. As mentioned in last week’s review, this song becomes an important part of their relationship. A year later it’s Ellie’s 16th birthday, and Joel is taking her into the woods for a surprise. Fans of The Last of Us Part II will recognize this scene, and it’s one of the game’s best. Joel has found an abandoned museum with a space exhibit that’s still somewhat intact. He invites Ellie to join him in the capsule on display, and he even found a recording of an actual shuttle launch to really give Ellie an immersive experience. But even though Ellie seems overjoyed at this surprise, we can start to see the tension brewing between them. Ellie wants to start going on patrol and Joel is still hesitant. And on their way back, Ellie sees fireflies – the insect not the people – and pauses, something clearly on her mind even if she doesn’t admit it to Joel. The next year, Joel arrives home from patrol early, bringing home another cake to surprise Ellie. To his surprise, however, he finds her alone in her room with Cat, who is giving her a tattoo over her burn scar. Joel gets upset and chases Cat out. Ellie responds by angrily moving her stuff into the garage while Joel is asleep. He stops her, but instead of forcing her to stay in the house, he offers to help clean up the garage for her to help her move. Pedro Pascal is so good at Joel’s subtle expressions that we can tell this bothers him, but he’d rather give Ellie the space she wants than lose her entirely. Two years later, Ellie is in her garage apartment, rehearsing how to ask Joel about what really happened in Salt Lake City. Joel knocks on her door, offering to finally take her on her first patrol for her 19th birthday. While on the trail, Joel tells Ellie that he’d like to do this more often, spend time together like they used to. It’s clear that Ellie still has her questions about Salt Lake on her mind, but Joel is barely able to ask her what’s on her mind before they’re interrupted by a radio call – Eugene and Adam are in trouble and need help. Joel tells Ellie to go back, but she replies “I’m not your fucking kid, Joel, I’m your partner. We stick together.” When Joel and Ellie arrive, Adam is already dead and Eugene has been bit. He begs for them to take him to Jackson’s gates so he can tell Gail goodbye, but Joel refuses. Ellie pleads with him too, and Joel appears to relent. He tells Ellie to go get the horses and bring them down the trail. He looks her in the eye and promises that he and Eugene will meet up with her. But while Ellie is gone, he takes Eugene to a clearing and shoots him. They return to Jackson, and Ellie watches Joel lie through his teeth to Gail about what happened, that Eugene shot himself to save them. Furious, she tells Gail the truth, and we can see on her face that she doesn’t have to ask Joel about Salt Lake City anymore – she’s already confirmed that Joel lied to her about what happened. Nine months later we’re back to where the season started – New Year’s Eve. We get to see the party and its aftermath from Joel’s perspective. The scene on the porch plays out a little differently this time around – when Ellie storms past him she comes back around. The two have a heart-to-heart. Ellie demands that Joel doesn’t go behind her back and take her off patrol, which he agrees to. He then asks her about Dina, and her feelings for her. Ellie then calls Joel an asshole and confronts him about his lies. She tells him that that day with Eugene confirmed what she already knew, and gives him one last chance to tell her the truth about what happened with the Fireflies. Joel admits to everything, though his face says more than his words. He tells Ellie that he would do it all over again. Ellie thinks it’s because he’s selfish, but Joel replies with a variation of what his father told him at the beginning of the episode. He says “Because I love you, in a way you can’t understand. Maybe you never will. But if that day should come, if you should ever have one of your own, well then, I hope you do a little better than me” Ellie’s last words to him in that moment are “I don’t think I can forgive you for this, but I would like to try.” And we now know that these were likely her final words to Joel before his death. It explains why she was willing to go on patrol with him that morning – she was trying to take a step toward forgiving him. Getting to watch Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey on screen together again is such a treat, even if they are dealing an immense amount of emotional damage to each other and the audience. The way they capture Joel and Ellie’s physicality and emotions is spot on. These characters aren’t great at communicating verbally – we see it takes years for Ellie to ask Joel about Salt Lake City. But there’s still so much language in what they don’t say that defines their relationship. This episode may have given us a break from the violence of the last two, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t still a little brutal to watch. Just because we’re not actively watching Joel get beaten to death again, doesn’t mean these flashbacks don’t drive the broken golf club in even deeper into our hearts. We watch Joel and Ellie’s relationship break and start to mend itself again, knowing that they won’t have a chance to fully reconcile. Ellie’s desire for revenge makes all the more sense knowing that Abby took away her chance to forgive Joel – all she has left to forgive now is his memory. OpenAI CEO and Sam Altman believe Artificial General Intelligence could arrive within the next few years. But the speculations of some technologists "are getting ahead of reality," writes the New York Times, adding that many scientists "say no one will reach AGI without a new idea — something beyond the powerful neural networks that merely find patterns in data. That new idea could arrive tomorrow. But even then, the industry would need years to develop it." "The technology we're building today is not sufficient to get there," said Nick Frosst, a founder of the AI startup Cohere who previously worked as a researcher at Google and studied under the most revered AI researcher of the last 50 years. "What we are building now are things that take in words and predict the next most likely word, or they take in pixels and predict the next most likely pixel. That's very different from what you and I do." In a recent survey of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence, a 40-year-old academic society that includes some of the most respected researchers in the field, more than three-quarters of respondents said the methods used to build today's technology were unlikely to lead to AGI. Opinions differ in part because scientists cannot even agree on a way of defining human intelligence, arguing endlessly over the merits and flaws of IQ tests and other benchmarks. Comparing our own brains to machines is even more subjective. This means that identifying AGI is essentially a matter of opinion.... And scientists have no hard evidence that today's technologies are capable of performing even some of the simpler things the brain can do, like recognizing irony or feeling empathy. Claims of AGI's imminent arrival are based on statistical extrapolations — and wishful thinking. According to various benchmark tests, today's technologies are improving at a consistent rate in some notable areas, like math and computer programming. But these tests describe only a small part of what people can do. Humans know how to deal with a chaotic and constantly changing world. Machines struggle to master the unexpected — the challenges, small and large, that do not look like what has happened in the past. Humans can dream up ideas that the world has never seen. Machines typically repeat or enhance what they have seen before. That is why Frosst and other sceptics say pushing machines to human-level intelligence will require at least one big idea that the world's technologists have not yet dreamed up. There is no way of knowing how long that will take. "A system that's better than humans in one way will not necessarily be better in other ways," Harvard University cognitive scientist Steven Pinker said. "There's just no such thing as an automatic, omniscient, omnipotent solver of every problem, including ones we haven't even thought of yet. There's a temptation to engage in a kind of magical thinking. But these systems are not miracles. They are very impressive gadgets." While Google's AlphaGo could be humans in a game with "a small, limited set of rules," the article points out that tthe real world "is bounded only by the laws of physics. Modelling the entirety of the real world is well beyond today's machines, so how can anyone be sure that AGI — let alone superintelligence — is just around the corner?" And they offer this alternative perspective from Matteo Pasquinelli, a professor of the philosophy of science at Ca' Foscari University in Venice, Italy.
