Stonemaier Games said in the lawsuit it expects to pay "millions" due to tariffs. Trump says the tariffs are meant to boost US jobs, but the cost is often passed on to the consumer. A group of tabletop game companies is suing President Donald Trump because it says his tariffs are reducing their profits to the real-world value of Monopoly money.Stonemaier Games, which makes the popular board games "Wingspan," "Rolling Realms," and "Vantage," announced its involvement in the lawsuit this week. The company said the lawsuit would "challenge the unchecked authority" of Trump and his tariffs."We will not stand idly by while our livelihoods—and the livelihoods of thousands of small business owners and contractors in the US, along with the customers whose pursuit of happiness we hold dear—are treated like pawns in a political game," the company said.Lawyers for Stonemaier, which is based in St. Louis, said in a legal complaint that the company estimates it will pay "millions in tariffs" because it manufactures all of its games in a Chinese factory owned by Panda Game Manufacturing, which is based in Canada. Stonemaier has printed its games in China for more than 13 years, the lawsuit says.At least nine other companies joined Stonemaier in the lawsuit, saying Trump's tariffs will cause substantial harm to their business. XYZ Game Labs, Rookie Mage, Spielcraft, and TinkerHouse Games are all board game companies that are joining the lawsuit.Spielcraft, an independent Nebraska-based board game maker, paid $4,335 in tariff fees in April, the lawsuit says.Other small businesses also joined the suit. Clothing company Princes Awesome, which makes inclusive clothing for children and adults, paid $1,041 for dresses imported from China in March, according to the lawsuit."Princess Awesome has also ordered additional products from Peru, Bangladesh, and India that they anticipate will arrive in the United States in the coming weeks and are continuing to place new orders for imports," the complaint says.Trump and his treasury secretary, Scott Bessent, have said that the tariffs are part of a strategy to increase manufacturing jobs in the United States. But that could take a while. In the meantime, tariffs can raise prices and reduce the dollar's purchasing power, leaving consumers with less money to spend.Experts told Business Insider that supply chain disruptions caused by the tariffs could cause prices to spike and the availability of goods to decrease in as early as a few weeks.Pacific Legal Foundation, which is representing the companies in the lawsuit, said in a statement that Trump's tariffs are unconstitutional and that only Congress should have the power to levy tariffs."The Constitution gives Congress—not the president—the power to impose tariffs because policies affecting an entire nation should come from the body most representative of the entire nation," the statement says. "And Congress cannot delegate that core legislative power to the president." Recommended video

Trump DOJ Threatens Wikipedia’s Nonprofit Status Over Alleged ‘Propaganda’
Between scrubbing government websites of information about everything from vaccine efficacy to LGBT health matters and the ongoing war with higher education, the Trump administration seems to have a problem with freely available information that doesn’t align with its particular ideology. That war on knowledge appears to have extended to Wikipedia. Earlier this week, a Trump appointed attorney sent a letter to the Wikimedia Foundation accusing it of allowing the spread of propaganda and threatening its nonprofit status. The letter—which was sent by Ed Martin, the acting US attorney for the District of Columbia, and first obtained by The Free Press—alleges that Wikipedia’s host organization may be “engaging in a series of activities that could violate its obligations under Section 501(c)(3) of Title 26 of the United States Code”—the law that allows the organization to operate as a tax-exempt nonprofit. Martin accuses the Wikimedia Foundation of falling short of te requirements to maintain that status because, he claims, Wikipedia is “allowing foreign actors to manipulate information and spread propaganda,” and “permitting information manipulation on its platform, including the rewriting of key, historical events and biographical information of current and previous American leaders, as well as other matters implicating the national security and the interests of the United States.” He also claims that because the foundation’s board is made up of “primarily foreign nationals,” that it is “subverting the interests of American taxpayers.” In order to quell these supposed concerns that read more like a thinly veiled threat to fall in line with the administration’s preferred version of history, Martin requested documents and responses to a slew of questions, including details about the organization’s safeguards to prevent propaganda and processes in place to prevent foreign influence campaigns. The Wikimedia Foundation has until May 15 to respond to the inquiry. This type of attack made on Department of Justice letterhead has become Martin’s calling card, so Wikipedia is in good company for a very bad precedent. Martin also sent letters to CHEST Journal, the New England Journal of Medicine, and Obstetrics and Gynecology in recent weeks, accusing the peer-reviewed scientific journals of being “partisans in various scientific debates” and failing to include scientists with “competing viewpoints” in their publications. Martin is also the guy who threatened to take legal action against publications that reported on employees working for the Department of Government Efficiency and demanded that multiple lawmakers who spoke out against Elon Musk’s ongoing dismantling of the federal government clarify their statements that he alleged were threats against him. Given that Musk has made Wikipedia a target, calling it “Wokepedia” and claiming that it is “an extension of legacy media propaganda,” it’s no surprise that Martin turned his attention to the free, community-managed online encyclopedia. He’s serving as the government’s attack dog, and frankly he comes off as a petty little tyrant about the whole thing. He’s drawn the ire of free speech organizations who see through his pretty transparent efforts to scare people into subduing criticisms of the administration and silencing the spread of anything that may go against the party line. But credit where it’s due, he’s very good at sending letters.

Text description provided by the architects. In the 19th arrondissement of Paris, within Parc de la Villette, the architectural firm Loci Anima (led by Françoise Raynaud) delivered in December 2024 the renovation of La Géode and its hemispherical cinema, originally designed by Adrien Fainsilber, for Universcience (owner) and Pathé Cinémas (concessionaire). While the IMAX screen was already immersive, it is now the whole cinema that has been transformed into a fully immersive experience. Even before entering, the dichroic façade invites visitors into a realm of illusion, where natural light seems to flow through a coffered ceiling. This façade echoes the aesthetics of contemporary stained glass, playing with light and reflections. Its raw, geometric design evokes a monolithic stained-glass effect, where transparency and color blend seamlessly with architectural rigor—an ode to the cinema itself.Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!Loci anima designed the renovation as a multisensory experience, engaging both sight and taste. From the confectionery area onwards, architecture and illusion merge to plunge visitors into a delicious dreamlike world, before leading them into a vast circular space animated by shadows and light.Save this picture! The interior of La Géode, an architectural and technological marvel inaugurated by Adrien Fainsilber in 1985, features an inverted mushroom-shaped concrete structure, supported by a central pillar of just 4 m2. The addition of a platform to accommodate the IMAX projector and another to fill the pit in the hall had to respect this delicate structural balance, which seems to defy gravity. Loci anima has enhanced the spectacle of this brutalist masterpiece – in the spiritual sense, a concrete cathedral – by stripping it of all conventional cinema elements. In reality, the show has already begun.Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!A 360° projected image on the walls encourages visitors to explore the space, where the architectural heritage is once again highlighted through light. Two panoramic elevators and an 11-meter floating staircase pierce through the building, leading from the hall to the entrance of the auditorium. A foyer allows visitors to observe the spherical structure close up _ This is not for the faint-hearted. The auditorium is now equipped with a new 1,000 m2 hemispherical screen, specifically designed for a new 4K laser projector, complemented by an IMAX 6.0 sound system. The seating capacity has been reduced from 400 to 286 custom-designed seats, offering six different reclining angles to enhance spectator comfort. However, before the screening even begins, visitors embark on a virtual discovery of Parc de La Villette, as the geodesic dome itself becomes a window to the outside world—one last illusion to enrich the journey. The interior renovation of La Géode achieves a perfect symbiosis between structural materials and virtual imagery, integrating video mapping and spatialized sound, right up until the return to reality.Save this picture! Amazon is blowing out Greenworks battery-powered lawn mowers and yard tools during this spring sale
I just mowed my lawn for the first time this season. I don’t mow all that often, but my shoulder hurts from pull-starting my ancient gas-powered mower. It’s time for an upgrade. Right now, Amazon has a ton of Greenworks yard tools including blowers, trimmers, mowers, and even multi-tool combo kits on-sale for their lowest prices of the year. Greenworks makes some of the best outdoor tools period, so it’s a great time to buy into their battery system, which is compatible with more than 75 different tools. Greenworks 40V 16" Brushless Cordless Lawn Mower + Blower, 4.0Ah Battery and Charger Included — $262 (was $349) Greenworks See It If you don’t have a huge yard, a smaller mower provides a much better overall mowing experience. The 16-inch deck allows for precise control so you can mow around trees and garden beds with more precision than with a bigger model. The 40-volt battery (which is included) gets up to 45 minutes of run time on a single charge, which is plenty of time to cover most typical lawns. I have a half-acre in my backyard and it never takes me more than 35 minutes with a similar model. This kit also includes a battery-powered leaf blower, which can generate gusts up to 100 mph. This is an electric model model that’s much quieter than the old gas-powered blower your neighbor rudely uses at 7 AM every weekend in the fall. Greenworks 40V 18" Brushless Cordless Chainsaw — $279 (was $379) Greenworks See It It has been exceptionally windy this year in Upstate New York and that has led to a ton of downed trees. I got an electric chainsaw last year and it has made removing fallen lumber much simpler. This 18-inch model is burly enough to handle full-on trees. But, it weighs roughly 15 pounds, so it’s easy to handle. You don’t have to worry about pull-starting it or mixing fuel like with many gas-powered saws.
