• Dungeons and Dragons: A New Quest Now Available in the Minecraft Marketplace
    www.minecraft.net
Seasoned role-players and fresh-faced adventurers alike, lets enter the world of Dungeons & Dragons, where the eerie wailing of banshees can be heard across the plains, never-ending storms rage, and Kobolds roam the realm.Dungeons & Dragons: A New Quest* by Everbloom Games and Wizards of the Coast is a brand new adventure where we rejoin our heroes, Katra and Vaer, as they fight fiends hiding in every dark corner of the Forgotten Realms. So, grab your weapon and brace yourself I know Im bringing my trusty blanky sword! And despite its sequel-ringing name, you don't have to own or have played the original DLC to dive into A New Quest and enjoy the pure thrills it brings!A story of adventureIn A New Quest, Katra and Vaer are striving to reunite Vaers soul with his body that was stolen by dark forces. During their journey, they reach Candlekeep, where Thesserai the Sage asks Katra and Vaer to aid him in locating his Deck of Many Things, hoping itll lead them closer to finding Vaers lost body. The deck is a mighty set of cards with the power to either stir conflict or prevent it. The deck stems from chaos magic (sounds super safe tbh) , and as it now has gone missing, it needs to be returned before it ends up in the wrong hands (or claws).Katra and Vaer accept the call to adventure, and thus, their perilous journey (and yours!) begins, meeting yetis, and dwarven hunters, recovering treasures, helping one-legged pirates, and discovering widespread conspiracies. The class of a characterAs in all Dungeons & Dragon games, classes are key when it comes to forging the perfect role and gameplay experience for you (I usually choose the coward, with the ability to wimp out). There are four different classes to choose from: if you want to go all bulky and smash, smash, smash, then pick the barbarian. If youre more about stealthy long-range attacks (read: safe distance) then choose the rogue. Or if you love casting magic missiles, then the wizard is for you. Finally, we have the stalwart paladin with the ability to heal and mend their allies. So, consider which class suits you best as you brave A New Quest (Im going with rogue, so if I go hiding, I can always make the excuse of it being a "trait"). And because this is Dungeons & Dragons, you also get to choose your stats, which influence how good you are at various actions, like spell casting or stealthing.A vast worldFrom Candlekeep to the Sword Coast and onwards to Icewind Dale and Caer Dineval, A New Quest takes you to many known locations within the Dungeons & Dragons world, some fraught with risk, some packed with rewards. But just as a world needs stunning views (yay!), it also must bear devious, ferocious foes (nay!). So, as you venture out into the world, you might encounter owlbears, wolves, rats, Bheur hags, Mind Flayers (now that cant be good), and bosses that are sure to test your mettle.

    www.seaofthieves.com
Hurl Yourself into the Hunt in Sea of Thieves Season 15A major expansion to The Hunters Call sends pirates in pursuit of new victories!Frances 'Fracas' Addison (Writer/Editor)Posted in: Announcements on 20 Feb 2025The Sea of Thieves has always been a wild, untamed sanctuary for pirates, but in Season 15 the stakes across these scattered islands and open waters are being raised once again! The latest free Seasonal update sees The Hunters Call Trading Company vastly expanding their offerings while two uniquely powerful Megalodons join the fray, with further hunt-related excitement set to follow in the months ahead. Heres what you can expect from Season 15 of Sea of ThievesSea of Thieves Season 15: Official Launch TrailerDuration 0:48The Hunters Call GrowsSeason 15 is all about exploring the wilder side of life on the Sea of Thieves, and who better to lead the charge than The Hunters Call? This Trading Company, first introduced with our original Anniversary Update in 2019, sets itself apart from the others with a focus on fishing and, as the name would imply, hunting. Until now, pirates have been able to climb to rank 50 by delivering fish and meat to The Hunters Call representatives at Seaposts or, more recently, to the Sovereigns on their behalf. From Season 15, however, The Hunters Call undergoes a major expansion. First and foremost, its being brought in line with other Trading Companies in terms of ranking prospects, with the reputation cap being raised to 100 and five levels of Distinction added. This means you can continue to progress with the Company well beyond what was previously possible, unlocking themed cosmetics as you go.You can also choose to raise a Hunters Call Emissary Flag for the first time, enabling increased rewards for treasure handed in but at the cost of making yourself a target for any Reapers lying in wait nearby! At the same time, new Fishing and Raid Voyages provide opportunities to set out in search of Company-specific loot, including exotic Treasured Fish hauled up from the depths and ready to make you richSea of Thieves Season 15: Official Content Update VideoDuration 4:17Megalodon MutationsGrowing alongside The Hunters Call are the new dangers introduced to the seas, most notably two terrifying Ancient Megalodons that have crossed over from the Sea of the Damned, ready to unleash carnage with abilities that make them substantially more dangerous than any everyday shark. The Feared Redmaw has risen from the boiling depths, wreathed in flame and wielding a devastating explosive attack to torch any ship that drifts a little too close. Keep your water barrel full to deal with fires breaking out or youll quickly find yourself in the hot seat! Meanwhile, the armour-plated Barnacled Dread torments sailors with Eel-ectric invasions, spawning these formidable Ocean Crawlers onto the decks of attacking ships. Repel boarders while using your cannons to chip away at the Megalodons coral armour until you can strike the beast directly! These fearsome monsters offer tantalising loot if you manage to best them, but finding them isnt always easy. In this, Hunters Call Emissaries have the advantage: ships flying a Grade 5 Emissary Flag will be able to track Ancient Megalodon locations using their Map Table and sail headlong into battleSea of Thieves Investigates: Ancient Megalodon Revealed!Duration 1:29Hunters GearWith a new Season, as always, comes 100 new levels of Renown to be earned and all the associated rewards! You can work towards earning new themed cosmetics such as Hungering One Hunters clothing, as well as a hoard of gold, Doubloons and Ancient Coins while purchasing a Plunder Pass also lets you unlock the enigmatic Dynasty of the Deep collection and an extra 750 Ancient Coins. The Pirate Emporium shopkeepers also debut the fabulous Rococo set this month, inviting you to indulge in the finest historical fashion. This collection includes a ship set with optional Collectors items, weapons, costume and makeup to add some ostentatious flair to all aspects of the pirate life. Inclined towards the edible arts? You may also enjoy the Culinary Cadet Emote Bundle, with four cooking-themed emotes to get you in the gastronomic spirit!Pirate Emporium Update - February 2025Duration 0:42All This and MoreTo keep the new content flowing steadily, not all of Season 15s features will be landing at launch! The monthly updates in March and April will deliver further features on the hunting theme, as teased in our Season 15 launch trailer.Over the next few months, you can expect to take up a new throwable hunting spear that will prove highly effective at taking down wild beasts, and experience a sudden bloom in the range of ambient wildlife youll see on your travels. Following that, some decidedly less passive wild boars will be taking up residence across the islands with their own stashes of loot to protectTo help keep the feisty local fauna under control, The Hunters Call will offer pirates new Hunting Voyages, sending them off to seek a savage Grand Boar or trail in the wake of a rampaging Megalodon as it causes chaos across the waves. • 5 Fashion Week Trends That Experts Say Will Likely Appear In Our Homes This Year
    www.housebeautiful.com
Every item on this page was hand-picked by a House Beautiful editor. We may earn commission on some of the items you choose to buy.Fashion and interiors have always been intrinsically linked. Whats seen gracing the runways eventually has a way of entering our homessometimes subtly or unexpectedlyand vice versa. It makes sense: Both are forms of creative expression that celebrate unique uses of texture, textiles, shape, and color to evoke a vibe, making you feel a little something while also showcasing individuality. As the New York Fashion Week fall runway shows come to a close, were looking to the designers for inspiration not just for our closets but our homes, too. From opulent embellishments to the return of fringe (did it ever really go away?), fashions latest trends are ready to take form in interiors. Whether you want to go big or try just a touch, heres how to bring runway style into your own space.Animal Prints Chris EdwardsA leopard print rug in a living room designed by Charlotte Lucas. At this point, animal prints are practically a neutral. For fall 2025, Marc Jacobs, Anna Sui, and Khaite all displayed bold takes on this classic motif in their designsfrom oversize outerwear to matching skirt sets. But how does this translate into the home? Animal print adds a sense of depth, texture, and personality and is kind of the gateway print in interiors. Not ready to commit? You can always lean into the tried-and-true throw pillow to test out the water. If youre feeling more adventurous, you could upholster an entire chair (or even a sofa!) for a statement-making moment. The options are endlesstabletop accessories, wallpaper, headboards, rugs like the one in this North Carolina home by designer Charlotte Lucas. You can really have fun with this one. Just remember, its all about balance, so make sure to add solid colors and natural textures to keep from going full-on glam (unless, of course, thats what you want).Glitzy EmbellishmentsLesley UnruhA vintage Murano glass chandelier in a dining room designed by Sarah Vaile.Speaking of glam, NYFW delivered a heavy dose of glitzy embellishments to the stage and were here for it. Designers ranging from Diotima to Altuzarra to Marc Jacobs all featured opulent detailingthink studs, sequins, beadsin their pieces that can also work beautifully in the home. Go bold with daring statement items like the Murano glass chandelier in this Illinois home by designer Sarah Vaile, or embrace a more subtle shimmer with metallic tabletop accents, beaded napkin rings, and gilded mirrors. A little sparkle goes a long way.Argyle and PlaidsLesley UnruhPlaid wallcovering in a lounge designed by Sarah Vaile. The signature diamond motif brings structure, warmth, and vintage charm to both our homes and wardrobes. It was seen on pieces in Khaite, Thom Brown, and Zankovs fall collections, and it stars in the lounge of the same home featured above by designer Sarah Vaile. And, its pretty easy to sprinkle it in your home for a refined and slightly preppy approach. Add it in through an area rug to anchor the space or a layer an argyle quilt over your current bedding for a look thats both cozy and classic. Cozy AccentsRead McKendreeA cozy rug in designer Palmer Weisss San Francisco living room.As seen in Ulla Johnson, Luar, and Aknvas shows, fuzzy accents were on display. Ulla Johnson and Luar embraced the bolder iterations of the trend with furry statement coats, while other designers sprinkled it in through accessories and trim. Pieces like the rug in designer Palmer Weisss own home, shown above, are the interior equivalent.Cozy accents arent necessarily new to the home spaceplush throws and pillows have been longtime staples in interiors. But, incorporating them in surprising ways through decorative objects (like this fuzzy, sculptural stool or a fur-lined accent chair) brings a fresh, fashion-forward twist to the mainstay.FringeHaris KenjarA fringed ottoman in designer Katie Hodgess L.A. home. We love a fringe accent on our clothing and on our furniture. Designersincluding Bevza, FForme, Altuzarrashowcased many uses of fringe from the bottoms of skirts to the sleeves of jackets. To try this out at home, try a cascading table lamp, or for a little old-world charm, designer Katie Hodgess home in the Hollywood Hills. You can even add fringed curations to bring texture and dimension to the room. Fringe is here to stay.Follow House Beautiful on Instagram and TikTok.

  • Apple emerges as likely buyer for UFO disclosure film from Top Gun producer
    9to5mac.com
If aliens exist, Apple may be about to tell the origin story of how we found outDeadline exclusively reports that Apple Original Films is the likely suitor for an upcoming movie centered around UFO disclosure. The untitled sci-fi (fiction, debatable) film is expected to focus on events in recent years around the U.S. governments disclosure of previously classified footage of what is now called a UAP (unidentified aerial phenomena or unidentified anomalous phenomena). For years, the stigma surrounding unidentified flying objects (UFOs) was too strong for serious discussionMore from Deadlines reporting:The package market has been booming over the past couple weeks and here is another one that looks to have found its new home. Sources tell Deadline thatApple Original Filmsis in talks to land theuntitled UFO packagethat hasJoseph Kosinski directing andJerry Bruckheimerproducing. • Elon Musk Calls for Destroying the Space Station as Soon as Possible
    futurism.com
To SpaceX CEO and unelected White House advisor Elon Musk, the planned deorbiting of the International Space Station can't come soon enough."It is time to begin preparations for deorbiting the space station," he tweeted today. "It has served its purpose. There is very little incremental utility."Musk also reiterated his desire to abandon current plans to visit the surface of the Moon, adding "let's go to Mars."Confusingly, NASA is already working with Musk's SpaceX to develop a "US Deorbit Vehicle" designed to pull the aging orbital lab out of its orbit starting in 2030. The agency announced it had selected the company in June.Is Musk aimlessly trying to make more enemies within NASA's ranks or are his comments yet another smoke screen as he spreads chaos throughout the government? When Ars Technica's Eric Berger asked Musk if he was "suggesting that the ISS be deorbited prior to 2030," Musk stopped short of offering any concrete plans, arguing that "the decision is up to the President, but my recommendation is as soon as possible.""I recommend 2 years from now," he added. It's a baffling new development, considering that plans for the station's destruction were already well underway.Musk also appears to be throwing the entire scientific community under the bus by arguing that there's "little incremental utility."Despite its old age the cracks are literally starting to show the ISS has served and still serves an extremely important function, allowing scientists to conduct important experiments in microgravity, including the feasibility of humanity embarking on long journeys through outer space. For one, that's research that aligns extremely closely with Musk's goals of delivering humans to Mars.NASA also doesn't have another space station lined up, except for several private partnerships that may or may not result in the launch of privately owned orbital labs before the end of the decade.Musk's latest tweet also highlights a growing deviation between NASA's current priorities and his own. Musk's space company holds tens of billions of dollars worth of government contracts, evidence of his naked conflict of interest as the boss or whatever he is of the so-called Department of Government Efficiency, which is currently making brutal cuts to federal spending.More on the ISS: Trump's Anti-DEI Agenda Could Put Astronauts in Real DangerShare This Article

  • Someone Hacked Paul Krugman's Twitter to Launch a "New York Times Coin"
    futurism.com
Over a month into the self declared "crypto president's" first term, crypto scams are heating up. Driven by a combo of hype and high prices from promises of government legitimacy, the racket is growing and not even crypto's critics are safe.Look no further thanPaul Krugman, a Nobel Prize-winning economist, crypto skeptic, and former New York Times columnist who found his X-formerly-Twitter account hacked to shill a fake cryptocurrency last night. "Introducing $NYTC The New York Times Coin," read a post on his account.Embedded in the post was a link to a fake article, bearing Krugman's byline and mocked up to look like the real New York Times except on the domain "newyorkstimes.com.""In a bold move that redefines the intersection of journalism and digital finance, The New York Times has launched its very own cryptocurrency on the Solana blockchain," the article reads. "This venture signals a transformative shift in how traditional media engages with its audience in the digital era."The fake piece goes on to boast about Krugman's again, allegedly the author of the piece, so he's apparently lavishing praise on himself "visionary" role in developing NYTC: "Driven by a belief that decentralized financial tools can empower traditional media and catalyze social progress, Krugman spearheaded the development of NYTC."The X post was soon deleted. On discovering the hack, Krugman who left the NYT last year took to Bluesky to clarify that he didn't launch the crypto token, and doesn't endorse the scam. "If anything appears there, its not me," the economistwrote, noting that he was unable to access his X account. It's no doubt a targeted attack meant to play off of Krugman's outspoken criticism of cryptocurrency as a financial vehicle for criminals. Writing on his Substack last December, he pined that "maybe crypto isnt digital gold, but digital Benjamins the $100 bills that play a huge role in illegal activity around the world."Ironically, the hack might be the most compelling evidence yet provingKrugman's point.Backing up a bit, those who champion crypto a blanket term for digital tokenslike Bitcoin can be divided into two camps. There are those who see it as a new type of currency, a non-regulated, digital gold to buy and sell things like houses, cars, and property. Then there are those who view crypto as a get-rich-quick scheme, a sort of stock market to be played for short-term gains. These two types of users are fundamentally at odds with one another, and Krugman argues that the former is largely a fantasy, playing cover for the latter."Nowadays we use Bitcoin to buy houses and cars, pay our bills, make business investments, and more," wrote Krugman in a 2021 op-ed. "Oh, wait. We dont do any of those things... Almost the only time we hear about them being used as a means of payment as opposed to speculative trading is in association with illegal activity, like money laundering or [ransom payments]."Flash forward four years, and not much has changed. If anything, it's only become more true crypto-fueled fraud grew by 40 percent from 2023 to 2024, netting at least $9.9 billion in known revenue. Overall crime using crypto, meanwhile, exceeded $40 billion in 2024, up from $25.6 billion when Krugman wrote his op-ed.One thing's for sure: as state and federal lawmakers look to punt the US economy onto the blockchain, the dubious crypto scams are just getting started.More on the New York Times: New York Times Publishes Then Deletes Article Claiming Watermelons Were Found on MarsShare This Article

  • Trump, it seems, is everywhere
    www.architectsjournal.co.uk
Source:&nbsp Louis HellmanThe cover of this months issue of the AJ features Trump as The Brutalist If youve been waiting for a nuanced portrayal of an architect on the big screen away from the usual character clichs of mysterious love interest vs megalomaniacal genius then your time has come. With the release of Oscar-tipped film The Brutalist, the architect, it seems, is front and centre. The film has even fed into the latest creative take from our very own cultural icon, Louis Hellman. So here is Trump, hulking on the AJs cover this month, enthroned on the brutalist Southbank Centre, oil drill in hand. Trump, it seems, is everywhere.Megalomaniac? Genius? The former property moguls cultural impact is already profound. Witness the impact on global climate crisis measures, international aid and diversity initiatives, to name a few.AdvertisementArchitecture and power have always gone hand-in-hand, of course (even if power hasnt been grasped by the profession itself). So perhaps we shouldnt be surprised that one of the US presidents initial executive orders for his second term, Promoting Beautiful Federal Civic Architecture, demanded that designs for all new federal public buildings respect traditional and classical architectural heritage. And, ever the real-estate guru, Trumps designs on Gaza have made news around the globe. In an interview with US broadcaster Fox, he said of the war-ravaged Gaza Strip: Think of it as a real estate development for the future.Interestingly, before Hellmans cover cartoon came through, we were focused on another visual representation of culture. It is a beautiful photograph, by Gareth Gardner, of Nissen Richards Studios work for a new permanent exhibition at The Jersey Museum and Art Gallery. It shows an ancient book, in a glass case, opened and lit from above (see below). Source: Gareth GardnerOur film reviewer Rob Fiehn loved The Brutalist, by the way. His personal response to it feels particularly resonant: We go on a journey with an immigrant fleeing persecution and finding his way in a strange land that instinctively wants to reject his ideas and approach. Suddenly, The Brutalist doesnt feel like a period piece anymore. The February edition of the AJ is out now.
