    gamingbolt.com
After rumors emerged in February, Square Enix has finally announced that Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is coming to Nintendo Switch 2. Theres no release date, and director Naoki Hamaguchi didnt confirm whether its follow-up, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, would also arrive on the platform.Released in June 2021 for PS5 before coming to PC, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade features numerous visual improvements and quality-of-life features over the base game. It also includes Episode INTERmission, a separate side story with Yuffie as the protagonist with unique combat mechanics. Check out our review of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade here. You can also learn more about Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth here. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 is also in the works, and though it lacks a release date, producer Yoshinori Kitase confirmed last January that the story is complete. • Nintendo Switch 2 Backwards Compatibility Detailed, Including Games With Start-up Issues
    gamingbolt.com
The Nintendo Switch 2 plays Switch games courtesy of backwards compatibility, which applies to physical and digital games. In a new update, Nintendo has revealed the extent of support, confirming a small percentage of first-party titles arent compatible. These include titles that require the original Joy-Con to play, like Ring Fit Adventure, 1-2-Switch, Everybody 1-2-Switch, Game Builder Garage, Nintendo Switch Sports, WarioWare: Move It! and Nintendo Labo: Toy-Con 01-03. As for the 15,000 partner titles on the platform, a little over 20 percent have no issues during basic testing.Over 75 percent can be started, but further tests are ongoing. A small percentage, which includes Alan Wake Remastered, Alien: Isolation, Factorio, and Fall Guys, have compatibility issues but are otherwise bootable. Then theres the percentage of titles with start-up problems, including big names like Final Fantasy 1, DOOM Eternal, NBA 2K25, Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, and more. These issues are still under investigation, and Nintendo promises another update later this month, so stay tuned. The Nintendo Switch 2 launches on June 5th for $449.99 (though region-locked consoles will be available for cheaper in Japan). A bundle containing Mario Kart World will also be available for $499.99.

  • Nintendo Switch 2 Home Screen UI is Almost Identical to Original Switch UI
    gamingbolt.com
While the Nintendo Switch 2 comes with a host of improvements over its predecessor, Nintendo doesnt seem keen on wanting to change too much of the consoles UI. As spotted by ResetEra user Truno, it looks like the main home screen UI on the Switch 2 will be nearly identical to what we got with the Switch. This means that games will once more take center stage in the home screen in a row of squares, with more options for the system, including controller settings, general settings and the Nintendo eShop, being available through smaller circular tiles under the games. In terms of themes, the Switch 2 will seemingly once again feature only Basic White and Basic Black themes. The only thing in the Switch 2s UI that is setting it apart from its predecessor, aside from the fact that the UI has many finer details and higher resolution glyphs and icons, is the fact that the border indicating the players selection is now much more colourful. In contrast, the original Switch UI used a darker border to signify a players selection. The Switch 2 will be coming to stores on June 5. For more details about the console, check out our coverage of the Direct.

  • Nintendo Switch 2 Will Use Game-Key Cards to Sell Physical Copies of Larger Games
    gamingbolt.com
Alongside the Switch 2, Nintendo has also revealed details on a new way it will be selling games. Dubbed Game-Key Cards, the system essentially involves the use of a digital code to download the game. However, even after downloading the game, the player will still need to insert the Game-Key Card into the Switch 2s card slot. Games downloaded through this method will require enough storage room on either the Switch 2 itself, or the inserted microSD Express memory card. With this, Nintendo will presumably be able to sell games that would otherwise not be able to fit into its standard Game Card. This could potentially include a wide range of games; Destiny 2 is an excellent example of a title that requires a tremendous amount of storage space.Game-Key Cards will be sold in packaging like any other physical Switch 2 game, including the bright red coloured box. The card itself will also sport the Switch 2 cards new red colour to indicate that it cant be used on the original Switch. An Internet connection will be required the first time a player starts up a game installed through the Game-Key Card. However, after that initial check, the player will only need to make sure that theyve inserted the right Game-Key Card in order to run the game.Nintendo hasnt yet confirmed if any of its planned Switch 2 game releases will make use of Game-Key Cards. The console will be hitting store shelves on June 5.

  • Hollow Knight: Silksong Launching in 2025
    gamingbolt.com
The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct is officially over, and amid excitement for various titles and utter shock at the pricing, Team Cherrys Hollow Knight: Silksong briefly appeared. It received a few seconds of new gameplay during a Partner Sizzle Reel trailer with protagonist Hornet.Theres a bit of jumping around, sliding down a slope, leaping over some spikes and combat with some enemies. Its not much, especially since the last trailer went live in June 2022, but the Metroidvania title is listed for launch this year.Plans could always change, especially given the long wait since it was first announced in February 2019. Though previously listed for 2023, it was delayed to an unknown date. Last year, the title was rated by the ESRB, South Koreas GRAC and Australias ratings board.Along with Nintendo Switch 2, Hollow Knight: Silksong is coming to the original Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC. • Nintendo Switch Games Can Become Switch 2 Editions Through Upgrade Packs on the eShop
    gamingbolt.com
While Nintendo will be selling Switch 2-enhanced versions of some of its titles, it looks like players that already own the original Switch versions of the game can simply grab an upgrade to the Switch 2 edition at a fraction of the games price. As caught by ResetEra user Uzupedro, the Japanese website for Nintendo eShop indicates that players that already own Switch versions of games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Party Jamboree or Kirby and the Forgotten Land can get a copy of the Switch 2-enhanced versions for 1,000 or 2,000.Where both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdoms upgrades are priced at 1,000 each, upgrades that add more content to the game are seemingly priced higher. Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree, for instance, are priced at 2,000 for the upgrade.Nintendo had announced its plans to release Switch 2-enhanced versions of Switch titles during its recent Direct. During the show, the company confirmed that the Switch 2-related enhancements include improved performance and better visuals as well. The Switch 2 Editions for games will be released at various points over the coming year, kicking things off with both The Legend of Zelda titles getting their upgrades at launch on June 5.

  • Nintendo Switch 2 With Multiple Languages Priced Higher Than Japanese Switch 2
    gamingbolt.com
Nintendo is seemingly trying to prevent Japanese buyers of the Switch 2 from just buying the console for the sake of exporting it to other countries. Spotted by ResetEra user ZeroDS, the company is seemingly charging a 20,000 premium for a Switch 2 that features multiple languages in Japan. While a regular Japanese Switch 2 has a price tag of 49,980, the version with support for multiple languages is instead priced at 69,990. The decision was likely made to deter illegally exporting the console after buying it at a lower price in Japan. It is worth noting that, while the premium on having additional language support on the Switch 2 is quite high in Japan, this pricing will likely only affect a small minority of potential buyers. The company can use this pricing to continue serving the Japanese market at a lower price without having to worry about stock shortages because of scalpers. The Switch 2 will be hitting store shelves on June 5. The new console will be launched alongside a number of games, as well as the option for players to upgrade some of their Switch games to make better use of the Switch 2s hardware.

  • Mario Kart World is Priced at 79.99, Donkey Kong Bananza at 69.99 For Digital Editions
    gamingbolt.com
Since Nintendos recent Direct regarding the Switch 2 and its games, the company has updated its website with details about some of the announced games. While not updated all over the world, the website has given us an idea about how much games for the Switch 2 will end up costing.Spotted by social media platform X user Elesnicho, launch title for the Switch 2, Mario Kart World, is priced at 89.99 for the physical edition. The digital release is priced at 79.99. This is quite a bit of a step up for Nintendos games, which have traditionally stuck to the 60 and 70 price segments.Noticeable on the Spanish Switch 2 website, Donkey Kong Bananza has its pricing resemble some of the later games from the Switchs library. The digital release of Donkey Kong Bananza is priced at 69.99, while a physical copy is priced at 79.99.Considering the differences in pricing for both titles, it looks like Nintendo will be considering the prices for its titles on a game-by-game basis. This also allows the company to have greater flexibility, with being able to make and release smaller scale games without having to match the same 79.99 price tag that a major release would likely entail.Interestingly, for both games, there is a 10 difference in price between the physical and digital versions. This might end up being a trend we see carried forward in other games for the Switch 2 as well.Check out our coverage for more details about Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, and the Switch 2 leading up to its June 5 launch.Mario Kart World a 89,99 en fsico.Opiniones? pic.twitter.com/CWzi7iSh4V Elesnicho (@elesnicho) April 2, 2025

  • Nintendo Switch 2 is Powered by a Custom Chip Made by Nvidia
    gamingbolt.com
Shortly after revealing quite a few details about the Nintendo Switch 2 during its recent Direct, the company has now revealed even more information about some of the upcoming consoles more technical aspects. In an update to its websites, the technical specs for the Switch 2 have been laid out, confirming that the SoC powering the device has been made by Nvidia. While we dont quite get more details about the SoC, such as the kind clock speeds we can expect from it, it does appear to be a custom chip made by Nvidia. Interestingly, this also makes the Switch 2 the only current console with an Nvidia chip; the Xbox Series X/S as well as the PS5 are powered by AMDs chips. The rest of the details on the specs page for the Switch 2 line-up with what we were shown during the Direct. It is worth noting that the Switch 2 will be equipped with a 5,220 mAh battery, with promises of the battery lasting anywhere between 2 and 6.5 hours of play time, depending on what you play. This lines up with rumours from back in January, which indicated that the Switch 2 would be powered Nvidias Tegra 239 chip. While not quite as powerful as other consoles or modern gaming systems, the modifications made to the Tegra 239 likely allow Nintendo to get quite a bit more power from the chip than developers would be able to with an off-the-shelf version of it.The rumours indicate that the SoCs GPU runs at a clock speed of 561 MHz, roughly amounting to around 1.71 TFLOPS (trillion floating point operations per second) while in handheld mode, and 1,000 MHz (around 3.1 TFLOPS) in docked mode. The Nintendo Switch 2 will be hitting store shelves on June 5. Check out our coverage of the Direct for more details.

  • Playing Nintendo Switch Games on Switch 2 Through Backwards Compatibility Will Offer Better Experience Nintendo
    gamingbolt.com
Nintendo believes that playing Switch titles on the Switch 2 through the new consoles backwards compatibility features will make for a better experience than playing the same titles on the original Switch. As spotted by ResetEra user Truno, Nintendo technical director Takuhiro Dohta spoke about this in recent Ask the Developers questionnaire.Responding to a question about how the newer technology could potentially enhance games that were originally developed for the Swtich, Dohta spoke about how games were running better, with less load times and more overall stability. He also pointed out Switch 2 features like GameChat as being another way these titles would be better played on the new console. When we tried running Switch games on Switch 2, there were some where loading times became faster, or game performance became more stable, so we realised that the overall gameplay experience could improve, said Dohta. And as mentioned previously, GameChat will also be available for Switch games that are played on Switch 2. Even for previously released games, there are opportunities to add value in the sense that it can enhance and change the gameplay experience. We understand that people buy new hardware so they can play new games created for it, so weve developed Switch 2 with that in mind.Details about the Nintendo Switch 2 were revealed during a recent Direct dedicated to the upcoming console. The Nintendo Switch 2 will be hitting store shelves on June 5, and will be coming out alongside quite a few games, including the new Mario Kart World.

  • Drag x Drive Harnesses the Switch 2s Mouse Functionality in 3v3 Basketball
    gamingbolt.com
The Nintendo Switch 2s new Joy-Con 2 offers many improvements over the original, but the most stand-out is its mouse functionality. Similar to ARMS, a new title was revealed that focuses purely on utilizing the Joy-Con 2 as a mouse. Say hello to Drag x Drive, launching this Summer for the Switch 2.Its a 3v3 competitive basketball title starring competitors in wheelchairs with sleek gear, but the controls set it apart from the crowd. In the mouse position, players must drag both Joy-Con 2s downward to move and flick the controllers to shoot the ball. They can also set up for some impressive slam dunks. As simple as the concept may appear, the mouse functionality adds an interesting wrinkle. The question is whether Drag x Drive will offer more content beyond competitive play (which requires Nintendo Switch Online to square up against other people). Stay tuned for more details and updates, along with a proper release date in the meantime.

  • Kirby Air Riders Announced for 2025, Masahiro Sakurai Returns to Direct
    gamingbolt.com
Nintendo has announced that Kirby will also be getting a new game on the Switch 2. Announced during the recent Switch 2 Direct, the title is a new racing game dubbed Kirby Air Riders. The development of the game will include Kirby creator Masahiro Sakurai as its director. While we didnt get much in the way of details about Kirby Air Riders, the trailer did make it look like it will allow for up to four players to team up and play together. As its name might imply, Kirby Air Riders is a follow up to 2003 racing game Kirby Air Ride, which was originally released on the GameCube. In the original game, up to four players could race together. Interestingly, Kirby Air Ride was the last title in the Kirby franchise to feature Sakurai as its director. The fact that Sakurai is returning to direct a Kirby game after more than two decades means that Kirby Air Riders might have something more interesting going on rather than just being a racing title.Kirby Air Riders doesnt yet have a release date, but it is slated for launch some time in 2025.

  • Assassins Creed Shadows Playtesters Getting Confused Led to Use of Yellow Paint in the Game
    gamingbolt.com
Since its release back in March, Assassins Creed Shadows has been praised for many things, from its stealth gameplay mechanics to its open world. One minor point of criticism for some has been how the open world title highlights ledges that can be used for parkour-based traversal through the use of yellow paint.Speaking to GamesRadar, creative director Jonathan Dumont spoke about how the game uses yellow paint to let players know at a quick glance what nearby ledges and platforms can be used for parkour. In the conversation, Dumont revealed that earlier builds of Assassins Creed Shadows didnt use the yellow paint at all. It was, in fact, added in later because of playtesters getting confused about what they could and couldnt parkour on.Well, we didnt have it until players were really struggling in playtests to find their path when engaging in hidden trails activity, said Dumont. The environment is lush and full, and giving a bit of guidance was needed. This should come as no surprise, since the use of markers like yellow paint for objects that can be interacted with or jumped on largely came about when visuals in video games started getting more and more photorealistic. This could even be seen in titles going all the way back to early PS4 releases. Even older Assassins Creed games were not immune from this; Assassins Creed 2, for example, used white cloth as an indicator of an object that could be used to start a parkour trail.Dumont also revealed last month that, while Assassins Creed Shadows got delayed quite a few times leading up to its release, the extra time wasnt used to make any sweeping changes to the game. Rather, the developers made use of the extra time they were afforded by polishing the game as much as they could. We were basically trying to make the most polished game that we [can], said Dumont, going on to say that the delays were because, our game was there, so just making sure that we dont have bugs and that the experience is clean for people. The few things that the studio did add to the game during the delays were scenes that would help in fleshing out the relationships between characters in better ways. We had a few already, and people love those things, he said. So alright, lets try to get a little bit more in there.Assassins Creed Shadows was released on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on March 20. Since then, the game has proven to be quite successful. A recent report revealed that Assassins Creed Shadows was the USs best-selling game of the week it came out in in terms of dollar sales. Overall, Assassins Creed Shadows has ended up becoming the second biggest game launch of the year, right behind Monster Hunter Wilds, which recently celebrated having sold 10 million copies. For more details about Assassins Creed Shadows, check out our review. Also check out 15 small details that stand out in the game thanks to its attention to detail.

  • Steel Seed Delayed to April 22, Required PC Specs Revealed
    gamingbolt.com
While Steel Seed was originally slated for an April 10 launch, publisher ESDigital Games and developer Storm in a Teacup have announced that there will be a slight delay in the titles release. In a statement, the companies have revealed that Steel Seed will instead be coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on April 22.The publisher and developer both explain the delay as being required because the development teams have faced some technical hurdles. While the announcement doesnt go too deep into these hurdles, they are seemingly related to platform adaptation related to certification tests that studios have to run on their game for a console release.Since the games announcement, your excitement has been truly inspiring, and we know how much youve been looking forward to a deep dive into a dark sci-fi future on all platforms, wrote ESDigital Games head of marketing Ilia Svanidze in a statement announcing the delay.Thats why we want to be completely open with you: We encountered some technical hurdles related to platform adaptation when running our platform certification tests. Rather than rushing the console release and risking a potentially substandard console user experience that requires swift patching, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to delay the launch.Svanidze also explained that the studio will be using the extra time it is getting from the delay to further polish all versions of the game. Our goal is to ensure that all players, regardless of platform, enjoy a polished and seamless experience, wrote Svanidze. We are committed to delivering the ebst possible experience for our players. This additional time will allow us to optimise and polish all versions for launch, so they meet the standard we know you deserve. While Steel Seed is seeing a slight delay, as caught by WCCFTech, the games store listing on Steam has also been updated, revealing the required PC specs to play the game. The requirements for the game are quite modest, all things considered. The minimum CPU required for Steel Seed is an Intel i7-3770K 3.,50 GHz or AMD equivalent CPU, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070, Intel Arc 580 or AMD equivalent GPU. The recommended specs bumps this up slightly to an Intel Core i7 6700K 4.0 GHz or AMD equivalent CPU, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070, Intel Arc 770 or an AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT GPU.Aside from these, Steel Seed will also require players to run on Windows 10 or 11, and requires 16 GB of RAM and 50 GB of storage space.Leading up to its release later this month, Steel Seed recently got a trailer that gave us a solid look at the opening few minutes of gameplay. In the trailer, protagonist Zoe and her robotic companion KOBY had to platform, sneak and fight their way through a collapsing industrial building as they try and figure out what is happening around them. The title was originally announced all the way back in June 2023 during the Future Games Show of the time with a trailer.Looks like its our turn to post the Square Image Of Doom, so lets get this over with quickly, yeah? Were moving Steel Seeds launch date to April 22 due to a few technical hurdles related to consoles. No, its not an April Fools joke (though wed much rather liked it to be pic.twitter.com/4b9LfebtUS ESDigital Games (@ESDigital_Games) April 1, 2025

  • The First Berserker: Khazan Impresses in Crucial Ways Despite its Flaws
    gamingbolt.com
We dont exactly have a shortage of Soulslike action games- if anything, that might be one of the most active and crowded genres in the industry right now. Intermittent releases from FromSoftware itself apart, several other studios in the industry have also stepped forward with efforts of their own. Newest in line is The First Berserker: Khazan,a revenge-driven Soulslike action RPG spinoff set in the long-runningDungeon and Fighteruniverse from Neople and Nexon, which is out now.The First Berserkerisnt exactly a perfect game. As our own review here at GamingBolt pointed out (as have many others), the slick and bloody action title is dragged down in several ways, quite a few of which feel quite significant- which is to say Neoples debut in the genre doesnt exactly scale the heights of something like a, say,Lies of P,which many have come to accept as one of the best non-FromSoftware Soulslikes out there. But thoughThe First Berserkerisnt quite on that level, its still got its strengths, which, as our review mentioned, make it worth a look for fans of Soulslikes or action games in general.Lets get those pesky flaws out of the way first, because therearea few to be talked about, and theyre not the sort of issues that you can easily sweep under the rug- thatd be an awfully bumpy rug. One of the more prominent ones is its story and storytelling- which might feel like a silly thing to be complaining about in a Soulslike at face value, if not for the fact that this is a game thatdoestry to place a greater emphasis on traditional storytelling than has usually been the case with this genre over the years. The First Berserker: Khazanis a revenge tale focused on the mysterious and brooding character Khazan. The titular protagonist finds himself severely physically mutilated, betrayed, and cast down, his service to the empire against the Berserk Dragon all but effectively forgotten, after which he decides, with the help of a phantasmal companion known as the Blade Phantom, to embrace newfound supernatural powers and embark on a quest for vengeance. With a fairly decent setup (on paper, at least) and a protagonist voiced by Ben Starr ofFinal Fantasy 16fame,The First Berserker: Khazanhad the elements in place to tell at least a fairly fun, if tropey, revenge action story. It fails on all counts, with a bog-standard plot, predictable twists and turns, and a disappointingly flat protagonist. On the gameplay front, The First Berserkerstumbles with things such as enemy repetition and bland side quests, but perhaps its biggest issue is its ultra-linear design philosophy and the impact that that has on exploration. The game adopts a hub-driven linear structure likeDemons Souls, but each area that you visit feels a little too restrained. With not too much by way of exploration and little else to keep you engaged beyond what the game itself wants you to engage with,The First Berserkeris a game that feels particularly susceptible to repetition and monotony, and sure enough, once you get deep enough into the game, you do feel those things beginning to set in.Fortunately, when The First Berserker: Khazanis at its best, it is absolutely fantastic. Also fortunately, the thing that it is best at is what it smartly focuses on first and foremost, and the thing that may might argue is the most crucial in a game such as this one- the combat. The combat, the challenge, the sense of progression, and the boss fights are what the majority of folk come to Soulslikes for above all else, and in pretty much all of these areas,The First Berserkeris something of a slam dunk. It takes bits and pieces from a number of other similar titles out there, borrowing from the likes ofDark Souls, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Nioh, and even a little bit fromBlack Myth: Wukong, and delivers, in the end, a grueling and satisfying action game with slick and challenging combat that is consistently fun to master, especially when youre coming up against its spectacular roster of boss fights. The combat nails all of the fundamental elements of aSekiro-codedSoulslike system- youve got your blocks, your dodges, your parries, youve got your perfect dodges and perfect parries, youve got unblockable attacks (which canalsobe parried with special, riskier parries). You have a stamina and stagger system, where accumulating stagger by successfully blocking and parrying flurries of attacks will eventually make your foe break their guard for a moment, a moment in which to deal heavy damage and dole out vicious attacks of your own.Aggressive parry-based combat systems can help deliver some of the best and most thrilling gameplay when done right, andThe First Berserker: Khazandefinitely does it right. Though it fails to sufficiently capture the themes of rage and vengeance in its story that it claims are so central to it, it does an excellent job of imbuing its combat systems with exactly that sort of desired aggression. As you would imagine, the games enemy design helps significantly contribute to that as well. No matter how tight the mechanics are, youre not going to have any fun with them if the enemies youre taking on dont compel you to properly engage with them, and boy doesThe First Berserkerknock the ball out of the park in this area.Nothing exemplifies that better than its bosses, which weve already touched on. Each boss forces you to learn and master a different fact of gameplay and presents a face-smacking skill check that youre not going to be able to overcome unless youpay attention and, yes get good. The excellently designed boss fights sport memorable visual design and, perhaps much more importantly, incredible fight design, with unique movesets that are a blast to figure out and deal with, and stiff and diverse challenges that are incredibly satisfying to come out on top against at the end of a harrowing fight.Surprisingly,The First Berserkeralso gives players greater freedom in progression than you would expect at first glance, with quite a few options available that let you tailor the gameplay to your needs. Each of the three main weapon types feels significantly different to use and, by extension, master, while separate and dedicated skill trees for each will also let you explore new options in combat- such as relying more on dodges if getting the parry timing right isnt something that youre completely confident youre going to be able to do at all times. Theres also attributes to upgrade, gear to minmax, skill points to summon, allies that can be summoned, and more. The First Berserkernever feels like aneasygame (though itdoeshave an easy mode, for those who want a relatively more forgiving experience), but the surprising flexibility it offers with its progression mechanics does let you surmount stiff challenges in different ways.Given the sheer wealth of Soulslike games out there, its never easy to confidently recommend one over everything else unless the game in question just happens to bethatspecial. The First Berserker: Khazanis maybe notthatspecial Lies of PorNiohit is not but its an aggressive, fast-paced, challenging action game with excellent combat, memorable boss fights, and compelling progression mechanics. It has its flaws, yes, and not necessarily insignificant ones- but for genre fans, its still well worth checking out.Note: The views expressed in this article are those of the author and do not necessarily represent the views of, and should not be attributed to, GamingBolt as an organization.

  • Atomfall Reaches 1.5 Million Players in Less Than a Week
    gamingbolt.com
Rebellion Developments Atomfall has seen a strong reception since launching on March 27th, with 1.5 million players thus far. As told to IGN, this makes it the most successful launch in the studios history, which is impressive considering its a new IP.CEO and co-founder Jason Kingsley said, We are delighted that so many players are enjoying Atomfall. To have surpassed the 1 million players in such a short time speaks volumes for the creativity and dedication of the entire team here at Rebellion. Our size and stability mean we can take risks to create something as different as Atomfall. Happily, that risk is paying off.We are a British company, and the game is a true reflection of that. Not only is it set in the lush, beautiful countryside, but Atomfall also draws inspiration from many classic British books, films and TV series. We hope that players continue to enjoy exploring the world of Atomfall and are looking forward to future content for the game.Along with consoles and PC, Atomfall is available on Game Pass. As such, sales are unknown, but Rebellion did provide some interesting stats. Players have drunk 300,000 cups of tea, consumed over four million pastries, and killed more than 3.7 million with the Cricket Bat. It also seems that over 316,000 killed the scientist at the start, perhaps as a precursor for slaying every NPC (which you can absolutely do).For more details on Atomfall, check out our review we gave it a nine out of ten, praising the atmosphere, story, voice-acting and world design. Rebellion is also working on a story expansion, Wicked Isle, though a release date has yet to be announced.

PS4 owners can upgrade to the remaster for $10, and all content will be available for PC players via the Broken Roads DLC at launch.Forza Horizon 5 (PS5)For a long time (over three years, in fact), the de facto racing experience on PS5 has been Gran Turismo 7. However, its finally getting some real competition when Playground Games Forza Horizon 5 launches on April 25th. Its the first title in the franchise to debut on a Sony console and, more importantly, one of the very best with its incredible open world, stunning visuals, hundreds of cars, and a litany of features.Best of all, a new update, Horizon Realms, goes live the same day, offering up 11 returning tracks, the new Stadium Track, over 60 Accolades, new cars, and much more. The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered (PC)Just when you thought it was over, somehow, The Last of Us returns, right on time for season 2 of the TV series. From interacting with giant fish and crocodiles to mending spiritual bonds, she seeks her own place in the universe while dealing with tragedy. Launching on April 9th for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, players will embark on over ten missions throughout World War 2, combining their squads strengths to succeed. Go alone or with a friend in split-screen or online co-op, and experiment with different approaches to succeed, be it stealth, subterfuge or chaos.Descenders NextAn extreme-sports-meets-rogue-like title is already fairly unorthodox, but RageSquid is taking the formula even further with Descenders Next. You can still play solo or with up to other players and find the best way to reach the bottom of the mountain as quickly as possible. Its an instinctual joy, and there are new clothes and boards to unlock, a new soundtrack, and much more to dive into when it launches on April 9th.Clair Obscur: Expedition 33Sandfall Interactives homage to real-time parrying and dodging and an imaginative fantasy world. Suffice it to say that it looks like a winner ahead of its launch on April 24th with its 30+ hour main story, gorgeous visuals and an all-star cast.Fatal Fury: City of the WolvesA sequel to Garou: Mark of the Wolves wasnt on every fighting game fans wishlist for 2025, but here we are. With rollback netcode, cross-play, a new RPG-like single-player mode and the REV System for new tactics, it could take the community by storm.MotoGP 25As little as the franchise evolves year after year, you have to give credit to Milestones MotoGP franchise for its consistency. The latest title, MotoGP 25, launches on April 30th and offers new Race Off Disciplines for its modes, a new Arcade Experience, improved adaptive difficulty, and cross-play. Its coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.Steel SeedClose to the Sun developer, Storm in a Teacup is going in a completely different direction with its next title, Steel Seed. As Zoe, players traverse a mysterious facility in a post-apocalyptic world, dealing with hordes of unwelcoming machines. Mixing platforming and puzzles with combat and light stealth, Steel Seed launches on April 10th for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5.Bionic BaySpeaking of platformers, Bionic Bay, slated for last month, arrives on April 17th for PS5 and PC. The biomechanical setting and premise are still intriguing, however, and having the ability to flip environments, and manipulate physics to traverse obstacles looks cool. And for those who really want to test their platforming skills, an Online Mode with events and leaderboards is also included.Tempest RisingIf youve been feeling the lack of any Command and Conquer-like titles over the past several years, Slipgate Ironworks Tempest Rising may help. Its out on April 24th for PC, offering two playable factions with unique units, two campaigns, online multiplayer, custom games, and the base-building real-time strategy you know and love.Forever SkiesA survival crafting game in a post-apocalyptic setting may not inspire the most interest, but Forever Skies offers some intriguing spins on the formula. Instead of exploring the dust-covered Earth on foot, youre venturing through the skies on an airship, gathering resources to upgrade it from various skyscrapers and structures. What awaits on the surface? Youll have to find out when Forever Skies exits early access and launches on April 14th for PS5 and PC.Crashlands 2The sequel to Butterscotch Shenanigans survival crafting classic finally arrives on April 10th and sees Flux Dabes returning to Woanope to reunite with her buddies. Things quickly go wrong though, and after yet another crash landing, she embarks on a journey to find out whats happening while combating dangerous creatures, unlocking upgrades, and more. With vastly improved visuals, new recipes, and more, Crashlands 2 could be the perfect cozy crafting sim for fans when it launches on PC, iOS, and Android.Monaco 2Speaking of a long-awaited sequel to a classic title, Monaco 2 also launches on April 10th for PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5. Much like the original, youre still conducting heists alone or with up to three other players but there are new characters and playstyles and Blueprint Mode for finer planning. Whether youre in it for the zany yet stylish campaign or the long haul with its procedurally generated levels, Monaco 2 should be a worthy follow-up.

  • Why DOOM: The Dark Ages Will be the Best DOOM Ever
    gamingbolt.com
Doom isnt typically an experience you associate the word large with. Replayable, yes. Rife with secrets, definitely. Rip and tear? Until it is done. But classic Doom, Doom 2, and even Doom 64 are considerably well-paced romps of brutality. Even DOOM (2016) feels easily digestible in that regard its not impossible to finish its story within two evenings and have your feel of demonic deconstruction.DOOM Eternal changed that, which was apparent in how long your average stage (and encounter) could take to complete, depending on your mastery of the mechanics and knowledge of where to go. A higher skill ceiling is nothing to fuss about, but id Software went further by stuffing the title with all the lore and world-building it could muster. You could get by with a glance at the Slayers Testaments in 2016, but Eternal demanded you understand the gravity, the weight of the conflict and its players. Suffice it to say that there is so much going on in the DOOM universe beyond the copious amounts of demonic disembowelment. Both parts of its DLC are their own full-fledged game in terms of content and complexity; everything combined makes for one of the biggest first-person shooter campaigns ever. On average, HowLongToBeat estimates that the entire main story of Eternal and its DLC could take 24 hours to complete. Completionists could easily hit 41 hours if they aim for everything (and you should, since theres a wealth of content and secrets to discover). Why does any of this matter? Because when I tell you that DOOM: The Dark Ages is shaping up to be the biggest, and perhaps even the greatest DOOM yet, its magnitude is apparent.First is the setting. The Dark Ages addresses an essential component of the Slayers story namely, what happened before the events of DOOM (2016). While id Software hasnt confirmed whether well experience every little detail the Doom Marines arrival in Argent Dnur, his joining the Night Sentinels, and eventually becoming the only thing that demons fear it promises that fans will witness the Slayers creation and turns the tide of the war.For some perspective, the battles described in Argent Dnur arent the skirmishes seen in DOOM (2016) or DOOM Eternal. These are full-fledged warzones, where the Sentinels face off against hordes of demons. No, the Slayer isnt suddenly going all Battlefield, but its worth appreciating how much larger the conflicts are, both in scale and importance. Youre controlling a brutal weapon of war, but youre still fighting in the same war, which means levels to your delivery of death.Weve already seen that with the new dragon mount and Atlan mech. id has already confirmed that these arent specific set pieces youll control for brief moments but are fully fleshed out with their own mechanics. Dogfights with demonic forces and landing in structures to clear out foes before jumping back into the fray seem to be the order of the day. As for the Atlan, youll go toe-to-toe with giant demons in kaiju-like battles of a scale unlike any seen thus far. Whether youre a fan of Pacific Rim, Power Rangers or SHOGO: Mobile Armor Division (rest in peace, Monolith), this alone could be worth the price of admission. But thats only the tip of the iceberg. Several weapons like the Shotgun and Super Shotgun return in classic fashion, but almost everything else has been revamped from top-to-bottom. Then you have the new guns like the Skull Crusher, which uses skulls as ammo and grinds them into shards to launch at enemies, outright eviscerating them up close.Meanwhile, the Railspike is perfect for Half-Life fans who miss the crossbow, allowing them to pin enemies into walls and provide some much-needed home dcor for Hell. Then you have the new melee weapons like the flail, mace and gauntlet or the Shield Saw, which allows for parrying and throwing at enemies like a buzzsaw. And while the acrobatics of DOOM Eternal made for some fun times, The Dark Ages is aiming for a heavier, meaner Slayer. One more grounded and powerful, built like a tank (with Frank Millers The Dark Knight cited as an inspiration). Yet it also brings us back to the era of classic Doom with its boots-on-the-ground approach. The action will be unrelentingly furious, though, with even more demons to battle than ever before. But above all else, id Software promises this to be the biggest campaign its ever made by a good bit. Director Hugo Martin said its really long, with an extensive amount of side content to discover. I think its gonna be mostly about secret hunting. If you explore all the secrets and youre a completionist, youre certainly gonna make it a much larger experience for yourself. He also hypes the levels as the largest spaces weve ever made. However, they arent going to be too long, with the team referring to an hour as the sweet spot to ensure they dont overstay their welcome. Even if youre not going out of your way to discover everything, this is a massive campaign delivering tons of variety. One example provided by Martin to EDGE is how you could begin in a dungeon-like space which transitions in the second half of the level into a more open-ended portion.Further sealing the deal is the lack of multiplayer and while that translates to fewer marketing blurbs compared to DOOM (2016) or Eternal, it also means id Software could devote all its attention to the campaign. As executive producer Marty Stratton explained, We know that our campaigns are to a great extent what people come to the modern DOOM games to play, so we decided to put all of our efforts behind that and really create the biggest and best DOOM game weve ever made.Scrapping multiplayer also means the studio can focus on features like the dragon mount and Atlan mech. I dont know about you but those are some pretty nice compromises after everything weve seen thus far. What truly sells this for me is id Software understanding that bigger doesnt automatically equal better. It isnt trying to create these large meandering levels just to drag on the campaign or add as much content as possible to ensure you get your $70 worth. The pacing, the level of polish, the emphasis on story-telling and its importance (especially for such a critical juncture of the Slayers life) the team is focusing on these things to provide the best possible experience for fans.DOOM: The Dark Ages launches on May 15th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC alongside Game Pass. And as I look back on the series and how far its come with its scale, fidelity, and the sheer amount of secrets and variety of demons to stomp, it really does feel like a culmination of everything thus far. The best of the old and new, but elevated to new heights and begging for players to fully uncover its depths.Note: The views expressed in this article are those of the author and do not necessarily represent the views of, and should not be attributed to, GamingBolt as an organization.

  • Monster Hunter Wilds Will Reduce VRAM Usage on PC With Title Update 1
    gamingbolt.com
While Monster Hunter Wilds is a commercial and critical success for Capcom, technical issues continue to nag players, like PC optimization. Director Yuya Tokuda acknowledged this in the latest Directors Letter and confirmed reduced VRAM usage and an upgrade to DirectStorage, which should improve stability. These will go live with Title Update 1 on April 3rd, but the team continues to identify stability issues and make improvements where possible, especially on the Steam version. This will be an ongoing process, where well aim to make continual steps forward in this area and respond to critical issues.Of course, it also wants to improve the overall technical experience for all platforms. Perhaps this could lead to further improvements for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 (which arent the best-looking versions by a long shot). The developer also plans to take a wider look at overall gameplay flow, which encompasses a range of things, such as the in-game economy, balance and other areas. Finally, the May end update will add a list of captured endemic life, thus making it easier to spot any missing entries. Layered weapons are also returning, finally allowing players to change the appearance of the Artian weapons to match their fashion. Theres no time frame aside from future update, so stay tuned for more details.Monster Hunter Wilds is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. It sold over 10 million copies in its first month. • Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller Might Include Headphone Jack for Voice Chat Rumour
    gamingbolt.com
As Nintendo is getting ready to officially reveal more details about its upcoming console, the Switch 2, more rumours surrounding the console have been popping up. The Famiboards forums recently saw a post by user LiC indicating that Nintendo also has a pro controller for the Switch 2 in the works.A patent application spotted by LiC gives us more details on what seems to be a pro controller. Sporting the label BEE-008, the device seemingly has support for Bluetooth and NFC, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack. This would indicate that the version of Bluetooth being used by the controller will be at least 5.2 in order to support LE Audio. The presence of the headphone jack would lend further credence to previous rumours indicating that Nintendo would be baking online voice chat directly into the Switch 2s operating system, rather than relying on a smartphone app for voice chat as the company currently does for the original Switch.Rumours about the voice chat on the Switch 2 came about thanks to a patent application spotted back in March. Part of the patent also indicated support for proximity-based voice chat. This would essentially mean that, in multiplayer, players that are closer would sound louder and clearer than those further away in the games world. While Nintendo will be giving us more details on the Switch 2 during a dedicated Direct slated for tomorrow, there have also been rumours about the companys plans for video game releases. One rumour from March indicated that Nintendo has a three-phase plan for games on the Switch 2.Where the original Switch saw a mix of third-party and first-party releases during launch, with the Switch 2, Nintendo reportedly wants to first focus on first-party releases during the launch window. A second and third phase, set for later in the year, will likely involve more third party releases.Lending more credence to this release plan, according to WCCFTech, developers part of studios under the Embracer Group have also not yet gotten their hands on a development kit for the Switch 2.As for when the console itself will launch, a more recent rumour indicates that the Switch 2 will start becoming available for pre-order starting on April 9. This comes from internal documents and emails from a US retailer. When it comes to how much the Switch 2 will cost, analysts believes that Nintendo doesnt want to alienate the fans it got from the original Switch. To hang on to the audience, SuperData Research co-founder Joost van Dreunen said that Nintendo will likely price the Switch 2 at $399. According to van Dreunen, this price point would allow Nintendo to also compete with handheld gaming systems like the Steam Deck and the Asus ROG Ally.van Dreunen also believes that the decision to include backwards compatibility in the Switch 2 with games for the original Switch came about because Nintendo wanted to focus on platform longevity. For Nintendo, the Switchs eight-year tenure aligns with industry-wide trends toward digital monetization reducing dependency on hardware refresh cycles, notes van Dreunen. Nintendos strategic focus on backward compatibility for Switch 2 suggests the company views platform longevity as core to maintaining its efficient capital deployment model. Rather than cyclical hardware releases driving growth, the emphasis has shifted to maximizing software revenue and digital engagement across extended platform lifecycles. As we get closer to the official Switch 2 Direct, check out our thoughts on what would be the right pricing for the console.

  • Asus Teases New ROG Handheld Gaming System
    gamingbolt.com
Asus has released a new promotional video that is seemingly teasing a new handheld gaming system. In the teaser, which you can check out below, a robot getting ready to have some upgrades installed.Things seem to go wrong (or right), however, because an ROG controller along with an ROG Ally also fall into the upgrade booth along with the robot. While we dont get a clear view of the result, since it is shrouded in quite a bit of fog, we are able to see a display flanked by asymmetrically-placed analogue sticks, as well as the ABXY face buttons shown on the display for a second. While the video is quite obviously hinting towards a new iteration of the Asus ROG Ally, Microsoft also seems to have taken notice of the video. In a post on social media platform X, the official Xbox account responded to the video with the side-eye monkey meme. While nothing has been confirmed so far, it is likely that the new ROG Ally will also be running on Windows, and Microsoft may have even helped develop the system.A report from back in March indicated that Microsoft has been working with another company for a third-party Xbox-based handheld gaming system. While neither Asus nor Microsoft have confirmed anything so far, the interaction X might indicate that the next ROG handheld system might be the first shot at an Xbox handheld that everyone has been waiting for.According to the reports, the Xbox-based gaming system is being designed with Xbox design sensibilities. This also means the inclusion of a dedicated Xbox Guide button, as well as support for the Windows Store and Game Pass in some way.Microsoft has not been shy about its aspirations to tap into the handheld gaming market following the success of products like the Linux-based Steam Deck and the Windows-based Asus ROG Ally. Back in January, Microsofts vice president of Next Generation Jason Ronald spoke about the company wanting to bridge the gap between Xbox and Windows for a handheld gaming system.I would say its bringing the best of Xbox and Windows together, because we have spent the last 20 years building a world-class operating system, but its really locked to the console, Ronald said. What were doing is were really focused on how do we bring those experiences for both players and developers to the broader Windows ecosystem. For Microsoft, this also means streamlining the experience by making Windows more intuitive to use on a handheld system. Ronald believes that this means designing the system to be closer to a console than a gaming PC.Were focused on really simplifying that and making it much more like a console experience, he explained. Our goal is to put the player and their library at the center of the experience and not all the [Windows] work that you have to do today. As for Microsoft itself, the company is rumoured to be working on its own handheld gaming system internally. These rumours indicate that Microsoft is looking at 2027 as its launch window. What this means for the lifecycle of its Xbox Series X/S consoles, however, is currently unknown.pic.twitter.com/ONZpeEmNka Xbox (@Xbox) March 31, 2025
