After about a hundred hours of being happily hunched over my Moza AB9 FFB Base and MH16 Flightstick, bolting in the Moza MTP Throttle and MTLP Panel felt like quite the level up. All that gear is starting to morph my office space into a serious simpit. Pretty soon I’ll be needing a flight suit, a spare 60K for this helmet, or maybe just intervention from my loved ones before those purchases can happen. When I affixed it to my port side, the MTP Throttle delivered a fighter-jet-inspired grip, 27 programmable switches, an adjustable detent system for afterburner and trim positions, and game-changing vibration feedback that let me feel every gust and buffeting breeze.Perched to starboard (or connected above the MTP, if you’d prefer), the MTLP Take-off and Landing Panel brings 25 Hall-effect-driven switches, a true-to-life parking brake lever, and telemetry-driven lighting straight from an iconic F/A-18 cockpit. And, when paired together, this Master Blaster of a peripheral is a chonk requiring 170 x 430mm worth of real estate. Putting this bundle through its paces, mostly in an A-10 Warthog in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 (complete with bunghole-puckering canyon runs), was a blast. Everything about this looks premium and feels smooth and crisp to the touch; a product worth an asking price that’s steeper than your average Immelman. Sliding the lever forward in MSFS 2024’s A-10 felt mesmerising; the adjustable damping screw lets you dial in a heavy carrier-style feel or a nearly frictionless slide for rapid thrust chops, perfect for the Warthog’s “your ordnance delivered in 5 minutes or it’s free” strafing runs. Switch presses registered instantly, and the haptic feedback added subtle jolts when breaking the sound barrier in my mental Top Gun montage. After hours of gun runs and canyon drifts, wrist fatigue was minimal, thanks to the throttle’s ergonomic layout and smooth travel path.In the final analysis, anyone craving realistic, customisable thrust control should find the MTP Throttle hard to resist. It commands a decent chunk of desk real estate and demands PC-only drivers, but its build quality, precision, and immersive feedback make it worth the investment. If you want to feel every ounce of power from idle to afterburner, this is a brilliant addition to any simmer’s ongoing flight(s) of fantasy. Back to topMoza MTLP PanelAs veteran eyes would have already spotted, the MTLP Panel is designed to ape the landing controls of an F/A-18, giving you 25 Hall-effect-monitored switches for gear, lights, flaps, and more, all laid out to guide your fingertips instinctively without glancing down. Its signature parking brake lever reproduces the spring-loaded recoil and rotation of real jet brakes, complete with a reassuring click on release that is satisfaction plus.The composite housing and aluminium accents of the MTLP are consistent with the superb build quality of its sister MTP unit (though the hook and gear levers do feel a tad cheaper). Moza has struck a balance between sturdiness and lower weight so it stays firmly in place even during my most enthusiastic brake yanks (to let bogies fly right by–that old Pete Mitchell chestnut). Meanwhile, telemetry-driven LED indicators glow to confirm gear status or landing-light activation, turning your desk into a mini runway light show. When I deployed landing gear during a low-altitude A-10 approach, the brain-muscle memory switch flick felt instantly familiar and satisfying, a vast improvement over fumbling with on-screen menus. The brake lever’s Hall-effect sensor gave crisp, drift-free inputs, and I never once forced a failed gear-up on final. Its compact footprint meant I could palm-reach each switch without looking down like a learner (after)burner or lifting off my stick.Ultimately, the MTLP Panel makes takeoff and landing procedures more immersive and efficient, but at around A$299 (US$150) it’s definitely a nice-to-have rather than a must-have. If you’re piecing together a full fighter-jet cockpit and crave that final touch of realism, just be prepared to clear desk space or mount it securely.Back to topBetter TogetherThere’s something undeniably thrilling about wielding hardware that echoes the heft and detail of real combat aircraft, especially when you’re diving into my test case scenarios (close-air support missions). The MTP Throttle and MTLP Panel aren’t merely flashy desk ornaments; they integrate seamlessly into Moza’s Cockpit Suite for drag-and-drop mapping, telemetric lighting, and vibration tuning, delivering an immersive sim experience. Side note: I also have to say, as a primarily VR-based flight simmer, having so much functionality “where it ough to be” at one’s fingertips, as opposed to blindly faffing about on a keyboard, is next-level handy. Put simply, I cannot go back from here. Whether you’re lining up for a low-and-slow bomb run or wrestling a heavy bomber through crosswinds, these peripherals elevate every cockpit interaction. If you can afford the mid-to-high-end price of admission, I say cue up some Kenny Loggins, engage those detents, retract your gear, and turn ‘n’ burn in an altogether higher tier of tactical. Warning: contains spoilers for Doctor Who episode “The Interstellar Song Contest.” Surprise! Carole Ann Ford is back on Doctor Who as the Doctor’s granddaughter Susan. In a vision experienced by the Doctor while unconscious and floating in space in new episode “The Interstellar Song Contest”, Susan appears inside the current TARDIS, calls Fifteen “Grandfather” and repeatedly tells him to “go back” and find her. Is it a surprise? Last year on Doctor Who, all we seemed to hear was the name “Susan”. In the run-up to series 14’s two-part finale, speculation abounded that the mysterious, multi-character entity Susan Triad, played by actor Susan Twist (a fortuitous cast name), would turn out to be a regeneration of that other Susan, the Doctor’s granddaughter. That all turned out to be misdirection, a trap set by God of Death Sutekh and showrunner Russell T Davies to lure in the Doctor and the fans both. Despite the hints, Susan Triad was not the Doctor’s granddaughter, and Ford’s classic Who character did not make her long-awaited return to the show. Until now. So, who is Susan? Simply put, she’s the Doctor’s first companion, played by Ford in two seasons between 1963-4. She travelled with the First Doctor, played by William Hartnell, until she was left behind on Earth to marry a dishy freedom fighter named David. Since then, she popped back up in 20th anniversary special “The Five Doctors”, in Children in Need comedy EastEnders crossover “Dimensions in Time,” and in a great many prose and audio adventures. New Doctor Who fans were primed for Susan’s existence in 2024 episodes “The Devil’s Chord,” and “The Legend of Ruby Sunday.” In the former, the Doctor takes Ruby to a 1960s London rooftop and points in the direction of Shoreditch, saying: “In the past, right now, I live in a place called Totter’s Lane. 1963, I parked the TARDIS in a junkyard and I lived there with my granddaughter Susan. […] We could go and have a look but you know, timelines [makes explosion sound]”. The Totter’s Lane junkyard is where Doctor Who began, when Susan was followed home by Barbara and Ian (Jacqueline Hill and William Russell), two teachers at her school – specifically Coal Hill School, where Clara Oswald and Danny Pink later taught, and the setting for short-lived spinoff Class – and all four of them became travelling companions in time and space. In “The Devil’s Chord,” when Ruby asked where his granddaughter was now, Fifteen told her he didn’t know. “Time Lords were murdered. Genocide rolled across time and space like a great big cellular explosion, maybe killed her too.” Apparently not – if this latest vision is bonafide Susan and not, say, another trap set for the Doctor by a trickster god. According to what the Doctor saw in his mind, Susan is alive and in his TARDIS and calling him to go back and find her. Go back where? To their home planet of Gallifrey, which was destroyed in The Time War when the Time Lords were exterminated? That would be a finale-appropriate development. In “The Interstellar Song Contest”, the Doctor’s vision of Susan recurs to him when he’s telling Belinda about Gallifrey, as a reason for having tortured Hellion terrorist Kid (played by Freddie Fox), who planned to commit mass murder on a gargantuan scale: Join our mailing list Get the best of Den of Geek delivered right to your inbox! “The death of three trillion people triggered me. It made me think of my home planet. ‘Cause they all died. In a single second. Every last Time Lord. But I got this image… [of Susan in the TARDIS].” To any new fans still pondering the biological nature of the Doctor’s grandfatherly relationship to Susan, keep going because there isn’t yet a real answer. In “The Legend of Ruby Sunday,” UNIT boss Kate Lethbridge-Steward suggests that Susan’s existence presupposes the existence of the Doctor’s child or children, to which he responds: “Well, not quite – not yet.” Kate asks, “You can have a granddaughter before a daughter?” to which the Doctor replies, “Life of a Time Lord.” Speaking to Radio Times about her Susan’s War audio drama series in 2024, Ford teased a potential meeting between Susan and the Fifteenth Doctor, saying: “The mind boggles with all the many ways Susan could come back, where and when. But I think she would love reuniting with her grandfather in his new form.” Now, it seems as though Ford’s wish is coming true. Recently, multiple reports have claimed that Apple will be switching up its iPhone release schedule beginning in 2026. Starting with the iPhone 18 lineup, we’ll have a split launch, with the higher end models launching in the fall, and the entry-level models launching in the following spring. While this does feel like a weird decision, it will have some noteworthy benefits for all iPhone users. Recap In case you missed it, the split iPhone launch rumor essentially goes as follows: Fall 2026: iPhone 18 Air, 18 Pro/Pro Max, Foldable iPhone Spring 2027: iPhone 18, iPhone 18e Instead of launching the entire mainline iPhone lineup in September, it’ll be split 6 months apart. The iPhone 17 lineup will still launch in its entirety this September, possibly marking the last normal iPhone launch year. This information comes from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and Wayne Ma from The Information. Better tech First and foremost, Apple setting two separate stages for iPhone launches will require them to step things up a little. By spreading the base model iPhone to a separate launch in the spring, it’ll require Apple to make the phone more interesting, for two reasons. For one, the entry level iPhone has always lived in a weird position. It’s still a new device, yet it isn’t the best of the best. Of course, it’s cheaper, but it always lived under the shadow of the Pro models, even in years where Apple made rather impressive upgrades to the base iPhone. According to The Information, Apple is making this shift to reinvigorate iPhone sales. With the base iPhone being its own separate distinct launch, I think it’s substantially more likely that we see larger upgrades with the entry level iPhone, especially since Apple won’t need to be playing a balancing act against its own announcements. On top of that, certain supply chain constraints may be a thing of the past. If theres a certain component that Apple would like to integrate in the whole lineup, but it’s supply constrained, Apple will now be able to without needing to worry about having less supply than ideal. That’s the leading reason that 120Hz ProMotion displays have been absent from the base iPhone for so long. LTPO display production wasn’t in high enough volumes to place on every iPhone at launch. Always a good time to buy On top of better tech, there’s a second benefit: there won’t be a bad time to buy iPhones. Every year, people buy new iPhones in the late summer months, like July and August, then get ridiculed by the tech-aware folks in their life that the next iPhone is about to come out. If they’re buying the base iPhone, though, instead of buying a 10-11 month old phone, it’ll only be 4-5 months old, and they’ll still be less than halfway into the release cycle of that phone when they purchase it in the summer time. Lots of people buy tech to utilize for the long run, and sometimes life happens. Two distinct iPhone launches a year means that no matter when you buy your new iPhone, it’ll at most be 6 months old, rather than a year old. Cheaper iPhones Last but not least, this split iPhone release schedule rumor does seem to suggest one thing: the new ‘e’ iPhone will become an annual release. Introduced earlier this year, iPhone 16e takes the body of an iPhone 14 and packs it full of iPhone 16 features, including USB-C, Apple Intelligence support, a 48MP camera, and more. Historically, these cheaper iPhones (previously iPhone SE) had a 2-4 year release schedule. With an annual release schedule, there’ll now be more iPhones around for those on a budget. Granted, with the iPhone 16e starting at $599, it certainly isn’t hitting the same budget demographic that the iPhone SE did. Designs include a freestanding classroom, new planting and integrated sculptures intended to link art, nature and learning Source: Tom Stuart-Smith StudioThe proposed new Clore Garden Tate Britain has unveiled proposals for a new public garden and education facility at its Millbank site, developed by Feilden Fowles and landscape architect Tom Stuart-Smith Studio. The Clore Garden project seeks to transform the approach to the Grade II* listed gallery into a planted landscape incorporating accessible pathways, public art and a new garden classroom. According to Tate, the project aims to enhance biodiversity and increase opportunities for community engagement, while offering a new civic green space in central London. The landscape design features a network of pathways set within densely planted zones and intends to create varied conditions for seasonal planting, wildlife habitats and informal gathering. The garden will include new seating areas, a café terrace, a wildlife pond and spaces for programmed outdoor activities. Sculptures from Tate’s collection are expected to be integrated into the landscape. Alex Farquharson, director of Tate Britain, said: “We are enormously excited to share a first look at designs for Tate Britain’s new garden, a significant green space uniting art and nature and encouraging biodiversity. “These sumptuous, innovative designs demonstrate the role museums can play in our cities, places where contemplation and relaxation can go hand in hand with joy and creativity.
